I have lived in Woodside all my life & have never had a bad experience eating at the Stop Inn. The wait staff is excellent & very accommodating. The food is always cooked to perfection & I have never had a bad experience either dining in or taking food out. From breakfast, to lunch, to their extensive dinner menu you will never find something you won't enjoy!! The hardest thing is deciding what to order. I'm very surprised this place has such high ratings. It was mediocre at best. My friend ordered their fresh squeezed orange juice, but it tasted off and he sent it back. The hash browns were far from crispy and were bland. I ordered the Athenian omelet with spinach, tomatoes and feta. Stopped Inn for bite to eat and really had hoped for more than we received. This place get a tad busy on the weekend as does every diner. It is much better than the Metro Cafe across the street in regards to food. The service is a bit lacking and could be easily upgraded by adding a staff member as it took a while for our food to get to the table and even get our check. Overall, decent diner spot right off of the Woodside MTA junction. Your average diner fare (with a touch of Irish cuisine). The prices are ok and the service is standard. The food here is a little on the greasier side which makes for great hangover food! We came here on new years day after sleeping off the alcohol. The staff was very friendly and seemed to know the patrons there. We just got the typical breakfast food; eggs, hashbrowns, and pancakes. The pancakes were huge and so were the other portions of our food. We barely managed to finish our food but it did the job. Well this is a diner that serves regular diner food. So don't get your hopes up. What makes them different is their omelets. They have several omelets that are special that includes a ton of meat. A word of warning their breakfast sausages are tiny little links. And they charge like $3 for them. Never order it. Their burgers are good. not spectacular but it's not bad. Just got ripped off at the stop in cafe... Myself and some coworkers ordered food by phone and then went to pick it up. When we saw the bill of over $34 for three items ( bacon cheese burger deluxe, Grilled cheese and tomato sandwich, Irish bacon egg and cheese roll) we were shocked and looked over the menu to make sure there was no mistake. The Grilled cheese was $9.25 ... which turned out to be a mistake in price and was really $6.50. The staff was very apologetic for the prices, but it is indeed not her fault ,,, $17.25 for a bacon cheeseburger deluxe!!! $9.25 for a cheese burger, $5 extra for deluxe which is supposed to be fries, lettuce, tomato, coleslaw and a pickle, and then $3 for extra bacon .... are you effing kidding me!!! Nowhere on earth have I ever had to pay that much for a Deluxe bacon cheeseburger. Now we had asked for the fries to be replaced with salad and balsamic dressing on the side(which really should not cost anything more) ... what came in the container was an overcooked mediocre tasting burger, lumps of tomato and lettuce with big slices of green pepper and onion thrown in and some kind of vinaigrette(not Balsamic)- this is not a salad folks! This is a classic, old-school New York diner. It's always clean and the servers are polite and friendly. It's very conveniently located near the 7 train stop at 61st St in Woodside and it's open 24-hours-a-day. The only downsides to this place are that they do not serve any alcohol and the prices are a little high for the type of low-key diner that it is. Otherwise, I would highly recommend it. I've been coming to this dinner for 6 years now and really enjoy their food - with that said, I recently went in after a long day at work at 11:48pm on a Wednesday and order my usual Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe to go, the place had a couple of people eating their food at booths and two other people came in 5 minutes after I came in, ordered and got their food - 25 minutes passed and I had asked the waiter twice if my food is ready and he said "yes, yes" but no food - so I payed for a soup I had eaten while waiting, and told him that I was really tired and 25 minutes is too long to wait, he said ok, so I left. Went back a week later and when I sat down to order, the same waiter said he wouldn't serve me, he said they had to "throw out" my food because I didn't wait for my food. I was extremely surprised and disappointed with his explanation, I asked him if I could talk to someone else and he said no, so I thanked him for his time and left. For the record, I've ordered the same burger dozens of times over 6 years and it has never taken more than 10 minutes, even on a Friday/Saturday night when they're packed with people it has never taken them that long to make my burger. After having a very hard day at work I went into this coffee shop around 8 p.m. Wednesday night. I ordered water with no ice and meatloaf with vegetables. Just had breakfast here. Under the shadows of the 7 train at 61st Street in Woodside, Stop Inn is conveniently located for commuters and has meter parking. We like the hot oatmeal and usual breakfast platters but the rest of their menu is available even for breakfast. It is not the cheapest diner and their hours are not quite 24 hours. I'm not sure what their actual hours are but they are always open when we've gone which is usually early in the morning. The folks here are friendly and Stop Inn has that nice neighborhood feel. Holy sweet hashbrowns...thanks Jando! It is strange, when I moved from the East Coast to Michigan, I craved homefries, couldn't really get them in Michigan for the most part. Now that I have moved back to NYC from Michigan, I just want some great hashbrowns and Stop Inn has some of the best hashbrowns anywhere. Any place that can get hashbrowns right when it's not breakfast is great but these were the next level of awesomeness, grated very thin and fried crispy for the most part (but not totally which is important). I could sing songs about these hashbrowns and I will just order a plate of them next time. Eric and I both got sandwiches with hashbrowns and the sandwiches were great as well. I got a tuna melt on rye and it was bursting with tuna and the cheese was all gooey. I had to take a half home for lunch today but I am not gonna lie, I ate it for breakfast. I come here pretty often since it is the neighborhood diner. It's really a hit or miss, sometimes the food is great but sometimes it's overcooked. The same goes for the service. I would have to give it a 3 instead of a 4 for the inconsistency. The club sandwiches and burgers are really worth it. I've had the Stop Inn Burger a few times and it was great. The chicken gumbo soup is good. The home fries are sometimes too crispy for my liking.
