When I moved here ten years ago from Georgia, I mourned the loss of my beloved Waffle House. :/ I wish I had found this place sooner! I am a sucker for a "greasy spoon!" I would consider myself a "regular" here. My friend and I meet at the Stop Inn at least once a month for breakfast. We've done so for the past year, so my review is based on A LOT of morning visits! It's a charming little diner, so expect great diner food! We've had everything from eggs, to hash browns, to toast, to pancakes, to oatmeal. We are always so satisfied with flavor and portions. We especially love the freshly squeezed orange juice that comes with everything. What a highlight! The service is fantastic! We are always treated with kindness by everyone on the waitstaff and also the cashier. They are constantly coming by to check on us and refill our beverages. I couldn't ask for more. I have serious love for this little joint on the corner. With the decor, I always feel like I've been transported back to a different era--in a good way. I have liked this place in the past but I really am not a fan of places that don't allow you to substitute things. I tried to order an omelette and sub veggies for the home fries. I was told by the waitress I couldn't do it even though it's on their menu with a ridiculous up-charge. I tried to find an alternative that wasn't automatically salad. Not a good impression at all. So we came to what we knew. This place is super tiny. But they found a place for my party of five in less than five minutes. Food came quick and the servers were very nice. I'm not going to lie, hubby and I practically live in this diner. We go for breakfast every weekend, sometimes more than once in a weekend (and often also for lunch or dinner during the week...tehehe) The first time we went here, about 2 years ago, was because I was craving some actual legit hashbrowns, not those cubed up potatoes, the ones that are shredded to bits and good ol' yelp was like "Hey, this place has em!" and so we went and have been going back religiously ever since! Maybe it's because at this point we're regulars, they see us coming and know to put out two cups of coffee, but it really feels like home here. Sure, sometimes it's cramped and loud but that's New York. No matter what I order the food is always delicious. The portions are huge, this place is CLEAN. I habitually wipe off my utensils everywhere I go, and never once have I been compelled to do that here. If I'm feeling down, if it's raining, if I just don't feel like cooking, if I'm too hungry to think about what I want to eat this is my go-to place. I can not think of a single negative thing to say! Come early on weekends at this woodside Diner. This place has limited seating and can get a bit crowded. They have big open windows, and a nice counter seating, so you have a good chance of getting a seat if you go by yourself. The food is actually tasty and better than most diner's. This place takes the cake as far as omelets go. Packed with goodness and for sure they don't skimp on the ingredients. Their hash browns are crispy and not greasy. Nice little diner joint in Woodside. I ordered the tuna wrap, it tasted just fine, a little on the bland side. My favorite part was the endless cup of New York coffee that I missed so dearly after being away from home for so long. i haven't been here in a long time, years, so i stopped on my way home. The neighborhood has changed since the last time i was here. No more Irish staff that I saw but the menu was the same. Plenty of Irish favorites like black and white pudding sausages, Irish ham, etc. But i miss the original wait staff and their brogues. The quality of food is still good and a fair price. Saw Mexican food on the menu too, but not sure why the would have that when their is a million taquerias and food trucks around. Most of the Spanish and Mexicans I saw in the restaurant were eating American or Irish food, so that should speak for itself. You won't be let down if you try it. read more

I absolutely love this diner! The waiters are always extremely nice and attentive. It's really cheap, and they also deliver if you're too lazy, like me, to walk 2 blocks down the street to pick up food (oops). They have a HUGE menu. They also saved me because I'm in the process of getting a root canal, and could only eat soup and bread one night for dinner last week. Go to Metro Kitchen down the street again. The food here is mediocre at best. But the worst thing about this place is the atmosphere in general. It's loud, it's always too crowded, and the staff is never friendly. The last time we were there, we were basically asked to leave (no more than 3 minutes after our plates had been cleared) while we were still finishing our coffee. A bus boy said something about how people were waiting and that we needed to move on. I don't care how busy you are - it's not like we had been sitting there for half an hour for no reason! The biggest reason why I will stop going to a restaurant is when I experience consistently bad service - and that's exactly what happened to me here. Don't waste your time here. This is a great little diner in Woodside. Well worth the visit. Nothing too super duper special but it has good food and decent service. It's nice to get a bite to eat before catching the 7 train into the city on a weekend morning. Went here for breakfast on a weekday and was very impressed. Portion sizes are large for the food to be so inexpensive. The eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon I ordered were cooked perfectly and were served quickly after ordering. The service was courteous and efficient, and the cashier was kind enough to split our bill for two credit cards.
