We had 4 bedrooms, living room and appliances to move and they were done in about 4 hours total. Hopefully I don't have to move again for a very long time, but if I do, I know who to call.     I don't know where to start. We first used People Move Moving 4-5 years ago for a "down the street"…read moremove. Great experience. Movers were on time, professional, worked quickly but carefully. All of our belongings arrived safe and sound. Given our first experience, we didn't even bother quoting the move out to anyone else. We were in regular telephone communication with Daniel, their Sales and Operations Manager via phone. Red flag that we never received written follow up communication. We had a couple questions regarding heavy/large items which he assured us would be handled with the upmost care and professionalism. Specifically, a treadmill in the basement and a Big Green Egg. We were told the crew had "plenty of professional experience moving/disassembling both items". Upon arrival, the movers completed a once over of the house to develop a plan. Very quickly I was flat out told by one of the crew members that they were refusing to move the treadmill. We called Daniel and he assured us it would be handled appropriately and the tone/professionalism of his team would reflect that. It was not, in fact, handled appropriately. Fast forward to the end of the day, we required a small/quick second trip to and from for the last few items in the house. The movers were very reluctant to complete a second trip, even though that was communicated multiple times before and during the move. The business bills by the hour, so you would think this would be a somewhat common/reasonable request. I inquired about the treadmill once more and was told definitively and rudely "no" again. At this point, I had given up on receiving the help/assistance we were promised even though our invoice included "heavy item" charges. Those charges took approx. one week to be reimbursed. We are now in a dispute with PMM for reimbursement of the cost to hire a third party to move the treadmill (which I just received word from Daniel at 845am that "there is nothing we will do, it has been handled internally, please continue to follow up with our claims agency). Our move was completed on a Tuesday and I did not get around to checking the condition of the Big Green Egg until Thursday or Friday (my fault). Safe to say it's a loss. Photos attached. The professional movers obviously did not possess the requisite knowledge to move something this large and cumbersome. Over the last two weeks, I have tried reaching out to PMM via office phone, Daniel's cell phone, and email to resolve these issues and discuss potential partial refund for services not rendered. We were told this morning over the phone by Daniel that "we have fulfilled our part of the contract, there is nothing more we can do to help". Even after asking to speak to his superior, we were told "I am the highest person you are able to speak with regarding the matter". We are now at the mercy of PMM's claim agency, CSI. They have been fine to work with but it's unfortunate Daniel and his team are not able to provide any additional help/follow up to resolve this matter in a less contentious/way more professional manner. Would not recommend contracting PMM for your next move, and if you do, ensure all conversation with Daniel is documented via email. The lack of communication and tone over the phone (when they answer) has been unacceptable. My wife has filed a complaint with the BBB. Beware of the PMM team.
