Get seated immediately, and we're handed crab menu along with a hibachi menu...huh... what do these 2 have to do with each other? I asked if they were transitioning menus they said no. So we got raw oysters, steak and shrimp hibachi, and crab... and you know what, they were ALL FANTASTIC! The oysters were some of the best and freshest we have ever had. One of my favorite places to order seafood boils in Buffalo. There's actually a lot of flavors and kick to the butter which is smeared well into the seafood. I have dined in and ordered take out multiple times, and take out honestly is pretty great because the food stays warm in the warm butter inside the plastic bag. The only thing that would have been better would be their Dungeness crabs could have been better but considering that we are in the East coast , it's probably hard to get fresh ones especially if it's out of season. They server you cheese bread when you dine in which does not when you order take out. The service was good and it was interesting to see the servers shake our seafood boil bags in front of use when we dined in. I can't believe people tolerate this seafood. There were five of us, and the bill was $257 before tip and one person only ate hush puppies and a catfish appetizer. It was freezer burned, not fresh, rubbery, and overall horrible quality. I chose to get simply steamed for my son, and I. Couldn't mask the horrible quality of seafood with all of their sauces. My dish supposedly had 1 pound of king crab, 1 pound, Dungeness, crab, 1 pound of one other type of crab. One cut up, sausage, and one cut up ear of corn divided in eighths. Shame on them. Food was non-distinguishable, and barely edible. What a horrible experience for my sons 21st birthday. I can buy better quality seafood at Aldi's in the freezer section. Could've gotten a couple seafood towers at Russells or the chophouse, and it would've been much better value and quality . It's a Saturday afternoon, with traffic sending me into a tizzy as I try to navigate to the retaurant. Don't be an idiot like me and try the side street, as the back entrance is one way. I nearly said screw it, as my stomach was rumbling, but I was not about to risk illegalities or fatalities delaying my lunch any further. We strapped our masks on and approached the building. It was pumping out classic tunes, and we danced our way to the booth by the window. Every other table is marked with an X to promote social distancing, but it was surprisingly empty, with elbow room to spare. Being newbs to the place, my friend scratched her head at the menu, trying to budget her meal. It's easy to have the price rocket high if you aren't careful. They play fairly, going based off market price. I was inclined to go for the blue crab, and nearly did until I saw the chalkboard. Crab cakes. Now, nowhere on this board does it tell you that these twins come with fries, but let me warn you, there's a bed of fries for these nice pucks. They're coated in a browned crumb, and packed with delicious crustacean. The balance between the crisp outside and the creamy inside was superb as I scooped it up with the fork the waitress had brought me. I almost wish I had a knife to hoist the patty onto my fork better, but I managed fine. And even if I didn't, the tables are coated in a fresh sheet of paper for every diner. Having ordered only the appetizer, I went ahead and got a side of white rice to go with my cakes. It was a heaping cup, no strong flavors to note. Honestly, had I known ahead of time that there'd be fries, I would have gone without. I couldn't even clear my plate, pleading for a to go box to bring home my leftovers. I scooped up the remainder of my rice, and all but one of my fries. That I popped into my mouth. It made such a loud crunch that my friend looked up from her meal. "They're crunchy," I said. "I noticed," she said. She looked back down to her combo meal of lobster and headless shrimp. The waitress had taken the extra time to explain her options, which included going for a butter garlic flavor and mild heat. Although it's not listed, you can opt for zero heat, if you don't like tingly lips. The restaurant provides you with a bib, complete with a sauce catcher strip, and giant gloves to tackle the bag. They bring you a pie pan, and you can dump it in if you think you can handle it all in one go. The bag contains the heat, and makes for a convenient to go sack. My friend, having saved her appetite, dug into her potatoes (they have the red ones so you know they're legit) and corn cobs. She said that she was a novice at digging the meat out of the shell, but I told her to get in there and get it. So that she did, interjecting periodically with "this is amazing." I couldn't tear her away from it to ask for a more in depth review, but she said it at least half a dozen times, which leads me to believe it probably was indeed, amazing. My friend apologized for taking longer to eat than me, and I waved away her worries. I was distracted by all the graffiti all over everything. The walls, the curtains, the polls, all covered in permanent marker, with names and quotes and doodles. To the scribbler at the entrance, please note that birds are real, and probably very jealous that they can't come in and enjoy what this place has to offer. Especially that complimentary seafood bread. Steps above cheddar biscuits, not to stare pointedly down the street at Red Lobster. Bring a marker, bring an appetite, and bring a friend. Full disclosure. I do not like seafood. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. I came here for my brother's birthday. The place is decorated with wood beams like you would see on a ship and murals of coast scenes. On any of the wooden areas, there are writings done with black sharpie from guests and others throughout the restaurant. You could write on it as well if you wanted. The service could use some help. It was rather slow and our waitress wasn't the best. The place was pretty empty too. This is why I gave 3 instead of 4 stars. The specialty drinks almost all had an ocean theme to them. My brother tried the Shark Bite Margarita and I had the Electric Lemonade. The Shark Bite was too sugary to really enjoy it, but the lemonade was great. I ended up having both, and my brother ordered a diet coke instead after he tried his drink. It took until after we got our main entrees for him to get his diet coke - AND he ordered it after our drinks came and we were just placing the food order (he knew after two sips he didn't like it). That seemed like a long time for something that simple. As for the food, everyone really liked it. They brought us over the Seafood Bread to try. I actually enjoyed it, it tasted more like cheesy garlic bread than seafood. We also ordered hush puppies to split, which I love. They were similar to anywhere else you would get them. For food, we ordered Fried Cod Fish, Calamari (fried), Snow Crab Legs boil, a one person combo boil and I had the Chicken Strips. My dad also asked if he could get a sample piece to try of the Gator Meat without getting the basket. They gave us two pieces - my dad and brother liked it and said it was chewy. My brother said he would ordered that next time to eat. As for the meals, my grandma (91) loved how it was Cod and not Haddock. She prefers Cod and it was almost like large fish sticks, so her leftovers were not half eaten, but whole pieces to take home. The boils were both done in the Crab House Cajun and the small bite I had of a piece of snow crab - you could taste the Cajun. The boils also came with potato and corn cob pieces. The Calamari was similar to anywhere else I was told. I had better chicken strips, although, if I come back I would order them. They were large strips and good, just a touch over cooked. Again, this is a seafood restaurant and that is not the specialty. The fried items came with french fries. I ordered mine in a Cajun rub, but they barely had any of it on there. I kept driving past this place on the way to the gym and I wanted to go so bad but I heard it was too expensive so I held off. My parents favourite part about visiting me in Buffalo used to be Joe's Crab Shack so they were pretty bummed when it closed down. The first thing you'll notice about this restaurant is the writing covering almost every single wall, which I think I'm quite the fan of! At the front counter you will find some permanent markers just waiting to be used so you can sign anywhere you find a spot. I'm not a huge seafood guy so I can get too into detail about the menu or how good it is to a seafood fan, but both of my parents are avid seafood lovers and both raved about them. I'm kind of a seafood baby and I stick to the basics, for me that was the fried cod and French fries. The French fries were pretty darn good for standard French fries while the fried Fish was super good! The breading was pretty standard for fried fish but tasted really good, the same can be said for the fish. Overall, I had a great time at Storming Crabs and had a great experience. Came here for a family dinner so we had a large group but our server didn't miss a beat. Though the prices may seem high, for what you get I found them very reasonable. I got the shrimp and it was definitely enough for two full meals, and the sauce was delicious. Everyone else at the table also left full, or with leftovers to take home. When your order comes, it's in a bag (not a plate) and you eat it with your hands, so if that's not your thing, I would recommend trying somewhere else. My husband and I decided to check this restaurant out last week. Apparently it's a chain, which becomes more and more obvious the longer you're there. What I ordered was a seafood boil with jumbo shrimp, crayfish, andouille sausage, corn, potatoes, and clams. I was definitely full afterwards, but very pleased with how everything tasted. The shrimp was especially good because it came with a garlic butter sauce that I loved. It took forever to eat my food, but that's because crayfish and shrimp are slow going because of the shells. My husband loved his crab legs, so it's not just me. Overall, this place is pretty decent. Once it gets busy it can get pretty loud, though. Try coming here for an early dinner with a significant other, but only if you can both afford the market price on everything. We were seated immediately and our waitress, Quinn, greeted us and wrote her name on the table. It gave me Jack Astor's vibe. Anyways, we ordered water and tea. The menu isn't huge, but I think that was the right approach to go. We ordered calamari with lemon pepper seasoning, which may I add, was seasoned perfectly. And we also got okra. We got the number 4 seafood combo which came with snow crabs, crawfish, potatoes, corn and sausages with the house Cajun seasoning. The bread and drinks came out first. It came in a paper cup, which I don't see a problem with that. However, the appetizer came with the seafood. It came in a huge bucket in a plastic bag (which is like any other seafood broil I have been to. Nice try Bernie from Getzville). The seasoning was great, we got it very hot which was a perfect spice. All I can say about the Cajun seasoning is that it was a bit on the saltier side. I wish they timed it better with the appetizer and seafood broil since we ate the appetizers for a bit before we started cracking in our bag. We had one bag and shared it among the two of us and still have leftovers. The combos come with lbs of seafood each. So the amount of food I got was worth my money. Honestly, go for the combo instead of making your own. You get your money's worth. I'm giving them 5 stars because for a restaurant that just opened up, I had a great experience and I can't wait to try their other seasoning. We proceeded to order combo #5 with crawfish, king crab, shrimp (we substituted shrimp for mussels), corn, sausage and potatoes. All the proteins were 1lb each and the whole serving was huge. On to the main course: we each ordered 1 lb of crab legs. You get to select your level of heat/spice and flavor. It comes with 2 clusters of crab legs, 2 small potatoes and 2 small corn on the cob, in a bag, on a platter. I was a little disappointed that only 2 clusters was all we got for almost $30 (since potatoes and corn are just filler items). Overall though, the food and service both were very good. You won't find prices on the menu when it comes to the seafood because it comes in fresh, and the prices can Flux. Other than than prices for the apps, and other foods will be listed. I'm so glad to finally have a good place to grab some seafood. We didn't have to wait more than 3 minutes till we were seated. Front house staff seemed a bit confused but were in a good mood, and it didn't seem to stop anyone from being seated. I'd like to thank Christopher who took care of us, walked us through the menu, and helped us gave us a wonderful experience. A combo can definitely feed 2-3 people easily as my fiance and I shared and still had food to take home. The price was beyond fair for what you get.
