Our first time in after hearing lots of great things from locals. We chose to dine in (all of the drive-in spots were taken). The dining room was bright, clean, and uncrowded at 3:30pm. The food came out quickly and everything was very hot except the sweet potato fries. The curly fries were described as spicy in the menu but were lightly seasoned and not spicy at all. The best side dish were the onion rings- very hot, nicely battered, with large tasty rings. My son had the double burger (patties are very thin- recommend the triple for big appetites). I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were prepared exactly as special- ordered and were delicious. My son went back for a root beer float, a specialty of Storm's, and he enjoyed its generous portion of soft-serve ice cream. My only disappointment is the prices- the burgers and sandwiches are ala carte, so with sides and fountain drinks our bill for two was $30 before the tip and float with no leftovers. At these prices, it will be a special treat to return, but we do look forward to trying more of the menu options next time we are coming through Burnet. read more

Solid performance from a cheeky hole-in-the-wall burger joint. Plenty of parking, and plenty of seating for a decent crowd. Old-school touches included vending machines (and I think I noticed video games). The malts and shakes are great, and they are so thick that it may take a while to get it through your straw. There is an 'extra thick' option, which we guessed was solid ice cream. Use a spoon if you order the extra thick. French fries were basic, not too greasy, but not quite as crisp as I like. Condiments are in the dining area. The hamburger almost pushed Storm's to 4 stars! Three patties on a regular burger?! Wow! I wondered why she asked 'how many slices?' when I ordered cheese! Be warned, not everyone working in this restaurant knows face masks are required in public! A few staff seem to put them some times, but they don't bother to wipe doors or commonly touched surfaces. INFERIOR in every single way to the one in Lampasas. We came here yesterday after going to Longhorn Caverns because we had such a killer meal at their other location. We showed up around 4:30 pm and it was pouring outside so we decided to eat inside since we were the only people in the entire restaurant. Staff had NO masks on AT ALL but when the cashier saw us, she did grace us with putting one over her mouth (but was sure to keep it below her nose). The rest of the folks we could see in the back didn't even bother. The place itself is greasy and old and NOT in a charming way. We got our daughter the chicken nuggets kids meal and split a Storm's special, fried pickles, and curly fries between us. The food was SO BAD: we are seriously in shock that this is the same establishment where we had previously thought we had had one of the best burgers in Texas. The cheese was barely melted on the burger and the fries were uneven in terms of crispiness. Our kid's nuggets and tater tots were unimpressive and the "complimentary" gravy was a blob. The pickles and curly fries were decent. We were about to order dessert when another customer /employee(??) came in and proceeded to rant and rave about Biden/election/Pennsylvania/ballots at the top of his lungs on the phone on the other side of the restaurant. At that point, we quickly made our exit and ordered our pumpkin shake and chocolate cone from the car (both were gross and slushy). I was driving from ruidoso New Mexico to Austin Texas and the only thing that got me through the drive was knowing those curly fries were soon to hit my lips. Having grown up in Lampasas county I've eaten more Storm specials over the last decades than I can count. This was my first visit to the Burnet location. This location looks very much like the Hamilton location. I pulled into one of spaces and placed my order. It was a Storms Special and tasted like the countless before. However the fries were not to the standard I'm use to at Storms. Usually the fries served are hot and crispy on the outside and creamy in the inside, like they should be. What I received seemed to have to short a second fry. They weren't really hot, had no color or crisp. I wouldn't say they were soggy more gummy or rubbery since they had no crisp. The burger was great, but without the usual great fries, fell short. Though I'll be back the next time I'm in Lampasas. read more

Listen up. Rain or shine, Storms is the real deal. Is it the best burger you are going to eat? No. Are their fries the the best you can find in Burnet? Probably not. But... this is a CLASSIC drive in with a big, down-home menu and we love it here. PRO TIPS: 1) Get the catfish dinner. Best thing on the menu. You will like it. Just trust me. Sub the fries for fried okra and add a loaded baked potato. Forget the coleslaw. Opt for tartar sauce and red sauce. This catfish dinner is freaking delicious and you get a huge portion. 2) If you get the burger, ask for mayo/mustard on the side. Otherwise too soggy. 3) If you go with fries - ask for them "extra crispy" (unless you like floppy fries). Also, get yourself a side of ranch to dip them in. Hard to leave a review when I never got a burger, so I guess I'm reviewing the management as opposed to the food. I stopped in after a friend mentioned how much he likes the place. San Antonio on my way to Fort Worth and skipped every restaurant on the way just to eat a burger at Storm's. Have them my order, they read it back twice and then made an entirely different burger. After waiting over 20 min for my burger, and being in a bit of a hurry to get to my destination, I declined to have them remake my burger. They then proceeded to screw up my refund. So, bottom line, spent 30 min there, no food, and only part of my money refunded. Pretty much a train wreck. This review should have posted back in April, but did not for some reason so please adjust accordingly if any changes have been made since then at the location. read more

Bought catfish dinner, kids chicken strip meal w/drink(Sm big red) 2 large shakes and a large big red. $30.90. I checked my bag all was there. Got home no small big red, and the French fries taste like they've been under the warmer for awhile.....very hard and tough, chicken strips were pretty brown and crispy. Perhaps the oil is old. We love the Storms in Marble Falls and since we had to meet someone in Burnet over the weekend, it seemed like a good place to stop for lunch. Ehh.. not so much. Issue 1: It was freezing cold inside. Absolutely freezing.. like don't take your coat off and sit there shivering anyway kind of freezing. I know it's February, but come on! If you offer seated inside service, you need to turn on some heat. Issue 2: I stuck to the floor. Seriously. It was super sticky and my shoes were crackling and snapping as I tried to peel them from the tiles with each step. Double yuck. Issue 3: Asked the employee at the counter if getting a bunless burger was an option and he said yes. So that's what we ordered. But.. that isn't what we got. We got two regular burgers, on a bun. When we brought it to his attention, he said he thought we were just planning to take the bun off at the table. Sure.. that's why we specifically made it a point to ask if we could get a burger without a bun.. because we were going to remove it ourselves! No. The rest of it: Service was fast. Once the problem was brought to their attention, they did remake the burgers without buns. The rest of the party had no trouble with their order.. so that was good. I was freezing and a bit grossed out due to the lack of cleanliness I noticed around me, so I didn't eat much of my food. All in All.. I'll avoid this Storm's on my way through Burnet. read more

We were passing through Burnet, and needed to stop quickly to get lunch before heading further into the Hill country. I'd driven past one of the other locations previously, but had never stopped. Ordered two burger combos, and two kid's meals through one of the driveup stalls. Thirty minutes later, food finally comes. One kids meal is completely wrong and the other three meals are in various forms in incorrectness. Swapped the one kids meal, taking another five minutes, and cut our losses. If you feel like playing Russian roulette with you lunch and waiting way too long, you may like it here. For the cost, hassle and wait, there are better options. read more

Update: The last two times I have been there it has been terrible. I went in early May and my fries were cold and soggy. I got it to go, so I didn't bother taking them back. The burger was delicious so I thought it was a fluke because I have never had a bad meal at Storm's. Well, I went back a few weeks later and got my usual, the mini Cordon Bleu burger and fries. The burger was on the low end of so-so. The fries were disgusting. They tasted like they had been cooked in oil used soley for fish. I got it to go, so the fries went into the trash once again. I am so disappointed because Storm's is one of my favorite places. I'm not sure if they have new management or what, but I felt I had to update my review after 2 bad experiences. November 2017: Try the mini Cordon Bleu burger- you won't be disappointed. It is beyond yummy. The French fries are delicious if they are fresh. Ours were crunchy and very good. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They have cleaned the inside of the restaurant and it no longer smells like grease. I have also had the catfish here and it was very good. I love storms. we get it pretty often. recently i've had some not so great experiences. i was charged double for my order on more than one occasion while paying with a card. i'm not the best at keeping receipts and by the time i noticed the charges, it was like nearly a month later. when paying with a card i always check now. please be cautious of this. the amounts where minimal, but still this should not be happening. Most recently the wait times are getting a bit excessive. my boyfriend says the waits have been always been long, but for 1 burger it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. i understand in rushes, wait times can exceed 30 minutes easily, however customers should be warned about that wait before sitting there for 45 minutes. will we stop eating here? no, the food is always amazing, but i really hope these issues are fixed. read more

I've been going to Storm's for many years. My husband and I meet at Storm's in Burnet. It was our first date. But it'll be a long time before I go back. First of all I ordered a mini cheeseburger. I with just meat and cheese, though I ate it( it was good) I looked at the menu again, thinking maybe they stopped putting lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions on a mini. I buzzed the drive-in, nope they put everything on it and was so sorry I didn't get it. Since I had eaten half of it and they didn't offer to make it right, I decided to let it go. When I got home I looked at the bill. Why didn't I question it? A mini burger-$2.99, a+12,( whatever that is, $.65, and okra, $2.25. That adds up to $5.89. Why was I charged $9.35. I thought it was high but dummy me didn't question it and I gave the cat hop a$ tip! Ok I admit it was stupid for me not to question, but really?? What a rip off I'll stick to Lampasas Storm's Drive-In when I'm traveling that way. read more

Driving through after spending the weekend a Pedernales State Park. The burgers were really good- especially the 3 patty 1/2 pounder. Yum. The place is definitely a dive burger joint. The inside is a little dark and old- but the drive-in aspect is great! We actually ate outside on their "patio." I'd give it 5 stars but it was a little pricey. Delicious, greasy burgers! My family and I stopped here, after leaving church. I got the stormy special with cheese. The burger was cheesy, greasy perfection. The fries were good, but tasted like they were either cooked in old oil or in the same vat used for onion rings. A little off, but overall tasty. Came here for breakfast at 11:00 am on a Sunday, but only serving lunch at that time. My party ordered Chicken Fried Steak and Chicken Strips for lunch and everything was tasteless and strictly out of the can, and terrible. Fries cold, chicken tastes like sawdust, service non existent, I was told breakfast here was good, if lunch is any indication, I could hardly believe it, and would not care to try and be disappointed and waste more money on this restaurant. We saw the rave reviews for this place online and knew we would be driving right by here on our way to our vacation spot. We passed many others restaurants along the way and waited to eat at Storms. This experience was very disappointing! The counter help was rude, even rolling her eyes at my teen daughter when she asked a question (I didn't find out about this until we left or I would have spoken with management). The food was average. Our order wasn't correct. The burger patties are thin. Really the only difference between this place and Sonic is they toast the burger bun and they have curly fries.
