Went there after reading article in local newspaper on their prime rib. Never had meat so tough. I had an end cut so was prepared for a little more chewey but my husband had regular cut and could not chew any of it. People behind us also said theirs was tough but they did not complain. We were told our knife wasnt sharp enough. Guess our teeth weren't either. Will not be going back nor recommending. read more

This place is awesome. Don't go here if your in a hurry because good food takes time to prepare. Portions are very large and meals come with the best clam chowder ever and a great salad and bread. The ambiance is unique old roadhouse feel and most of the time has a fire burning in the large hearth fireplace. It is one of the few family buisnesses remaining and I will continue to support them as my favorite place to take my girl. read more

Heard about this place in the press democrat as one of Sonoma county's historic gems. Historic it is, very cute building, bar looked fun and there was a nice fireplace in there. The service was a little slow, and the waitress was not very friendly until the bill came then she perked up. The clam chowder was a little watery, it is not a creamy chowder. It was fair, nothing spectacular. The French bread was a sliced French bread like you would buy at Safeway, not a hot sourdough like you would get at other steak houses. The salad was good, had a creamy Italian dressing. The prime rib was a little bland and not real tender. It was a big piece of meat, however the quality was not that great. It is a little pricey but not out of line for all the food you get. I would rather have quality over quantity though. read more

We were really looking forward to experiencing Stormy's. I like that it has history and the people were really nice. We started with the onion rings (1/2 order) they were quite good. The chowder had fresh ingredients and was not gloppy so that was good. If I were rating just these items I'd give them 3 stars....however, the focus was the prime rib. Huge slabs of beef - too thick and big for my taste - consumed the plate. Au jus was ladled on top which drenched everything. Normally that could be good but it was like water, no flavor at all. So my mushy veggies were drenched in this too. To me, prime rib is like filet Mignon, not a lot of flavor but tender and juicy...it's how you season them that counts. The prime rib was not seasoned hence the Au Jus was tasteless. I'd rather have a smaller piece that's perfectly seasoned than a huge mass of nothingness. read more

Had heard so much about this place. My wife and I ordered the Prime Rib which is one of our favorite dishes. We have never tasted anything so bad as the Prime Rib served at this place. Great ambiance...160 yrs old! Lots of good food...great service!

We tried to make it here several times and didn't get there until last night (thanks to planning and pre-programming the GPS). I'm not really a fan of prime rib, so I was pleasantly surprised to see fillet on the menu. Nice, juicy, buttery fillet. . .and a nice big cut of it too with almost no grizzle to cut off, the way it should be! BF had the huge cut of prime rib. Service was awesome the whole time. We had a very light lunch in preparation for our feast and found this to be the perfect amount of food. Sometimes steakhouses will overstuff you to death (well, we do it to ourselves really). But there was just enough food to feel you were being stuffed and send you into a pleasant food coma, without making you feel like your stomach seems would burst. Chowder was excellent, salad was ordinary but with good dressing, bread was thinly sliced which is good 'cause you really don't want to fill up on bread, and there was a perfect portion of potato so that you had some, but not a whole one where you'd get sick, and then there were veggies with the meat. They offer a couple desserts to chose from too - we had ice cream and it was a very large serving. I'd say it's worth the cost since you get a whole meal for about $30 (drink, dessert, tax and tip excluded). Save your money go to Cattlemans.Steaks are good but over priced,clam chowder had maybe 2 clams in the whole bowl? WTF The only thing going for the place is the atmosphere. If you don't get smoked out like we did. At 8:30 on a Saturday night with people still in the bar and resturant the old lady puts out the fire with water and smokes out the whole place,seems this happens often talking to some of my friends. They are only open 3 nights a week Thurs. - Sat. and seem to always be out of prime rib (unless you order it in advance) Gave the place 3 tries over the past couple of years,same every time,WON'T be going back.I think the owner should let somebody else run the place or sell it !!!! read more

I am never one to complain about service but this was bad. Three of us (Wife, son (4) and I) went to Stormy's for dinner. It was the worst experience I have ever had with a restaurant. When we got there we were sat in the side room away from any of the other customers (Probably because we had a child). The waitress was so rude it was uncomfortable. We were only checked on once and it was when she had to bring us something. Eventually an older couple was sat in the same room as us and they were greeted with smiles and laughs. It seemed like we were an inconvenience to them. I will never go back there, which is too bad because the food is very good. Our waitress was the owner I am sure because no one could be that rude and work for someone else without being fired. Food was HORRENDOUS!!! It was over cooked and was gummy like.... Horrible service the waitress was rude and obnoxious.... Was cussing at us and we offered her a piece of cake and threw it away and we confronted her and she lied about it her father (cook) shouldn't be cooking a 10 year old could cook better I recommend avoiding this place and spend ur hard earned money some where else where you will get good food and great service I defiantly would give this place 0 stars but I had to chose 1 stars but in reality I would never give this place a star. read more

Do not waste your time driving to this "So Called" historic restaurant and bar. Maybe not THE worst experience, but one of the worst I have had in an establishment. After finally arriving at Stormy's I was actually thinking the building was closed down, because of all the junk and debris on the outside deck, and area leading to the front entrance. (Have you ever heard of a broom or leaf blower). Everything got worse as the evening went on with the twelve other guest in my party. I will only go into a few details, as it would take me two hours to list everything repulsive about this eatery. The food was just OK (didn't matter if you wanted your prime rib medium or rare, it all came rare), and very high priced. It also took two and half hours to complete the meal because of the extremely slow service. It was an average of 20 to 30 minutes between bread, soup, salad and the main plate. People at our table and other tables, I noticed, were getting very irritable. But, to top it all off, the staff (owners wife and daughter running the place) were absolutely rude, and even very nasty much of the time. I, and others, could not believe the manner in which we were treated, and the way we were spoken to. This might of been a great place to visit back in it's day, but I, and others, will never waste our time again on this looser. I would like to see new owners, and staff, take over this building that is in desperate need of a cleaning, inside and out. In fact, a complete makeover is needed, ESPECIALLY the staff. read more

$140 for prime rib for two, and it was the worst ! Unable to eat it or even cut it with a steak knife. Terrible. others at our table had lamb and it was bad tasting, at least they could chew and swallow it. Never again, even if they offer a free dinner. Too many nice places to eat nearby. BEWARE STAY AWAY. My husband and I went to this place and I will not call it a restaurant, the food was like eating rubber had absolutely no taste to it and it took for ever to get our food. The restaurant was not busy at all 4 people at the bar and there was about 7 people in the restaurant part. It still took over an hour to get our food. It took 30 minutes for the wait staff to come over and take our drink order. Please stay away from this place it was the most horrid meal I have ever had and it took us some time to drive out to it. I was ready to walk out but my husband said a co-worker just raved about it so the food must be good...............Um I don't think so. We go to Stormys when we really want a nice steak. Don't mess around with anything else,order the rib eye!! It is great. We get it with a side of onion rings and with the soup and salad you definitely don't leave hungry. Yes it is pricey but there is no way you could finish everything so I figure that I get 2 dinners out of one. Roger makes a great martini too. No matter where we go for a steak we always compare it to Stormys and keep going back. read more

Have been to Stormys several times and have enjoyed it. I recently went to their website to get the phone number to make reservations for my birthday. I saw they had a new menu which didn't include filet (what I have always got and planned to get for m birthday meal). I called to ask and was told no more filet! Small family owned ...obviously caters to their regulars as we sat and watched various tables receive their food while we waited over an hour for leather like cold chewy prime rib, overcooked, chewy ribeye( juice had run all onto the plate), and potatoes that were gummy imitation tasting. The clam chowder was the only thing that tasted good. The waitress (daughter of owner) is the only server ...who is very abrasive, served my son the wrong meal 3 times and when confronted about it threw a tantrum and said "whatever" as she stormed away! Then the owner/cook(dad) came out to see about the overcooked ribeye, picked it up with a large fork, basically said there was nothing wrong with it, then dropped it back onto the plate splashing meat juice everywhere, he then stormed off using vulgar language towards us as he threw his temper tantrum! The waitress and cook definitely define the name of their restaurant well because their rude attitudes and temper tantrums are quite "Stormy!" What once was a great place to eat.....now we would never recommend it and will never return....it's unbelievable that they get away with treating customers in such an unprofessional way... and that they're ok with it...they have an "I don't care" disposition! I have never written a negative restaurant review in my life, but in this case, I feel I have a duty to warn customers of a potentially devastating dinner experience like the one my friend and I had last night. We had driven over an hour to get here, anticipating a nice dinner. Upon arrival, we ordered a couple of drinks, looked at the menu and decided to split the full rack of lamb. The woman (I assume the owner of the restaurant), came out from the kitchen with fire in her eyes and started yelling at us, that there was a "butt in the seat" charge (her words). I could tell she was angry (her shaking finger stabbing the menu and pointing at my friend was a clue) so I asked to see the menu again to order another meal. I would have left the restaurant then and there but we had driven so long to get there, that we decided to stay. Bad decision. There were no clams in the supposed "clam" chowder and it was lukewarm. Call it what it is - potato soup. My filet mignon also could not possibly have been a real filet mignon. I had to saw it repeatedly to cut it and it was so tough I had to chew forever before swallowing. We ended up taking it home for the dogs. My advice to anyone considering going to this restaurant - DON'T!!! read more

We recently moved to bloomfield and were looking forward to having dinner at Storny's after hearing such great things. My parents came to town and this was a perfect time to show them a great local place. The atmosphere was perfect, our server Connie was fabulous, and food was exactly what we all needed!! I couldnt wait to come back, as Stormy's is in our backyard! But as we were finishing our dinner, my children were having a bit of a meltdown, and we were quickly trying to get our things together and pay the bill. As we were waiting for our bill, a woman, with white hair, came to us and said "please be aware that there are other people here", meaning my children were out of control and bothering everyone, granted there were no more than three parties in the entire dining area. I began to gather our things to head outside while the rest of our party finished up, but when I turned around a young girl, the granddaugther, said to me " we appreciate your business, but your children are disruptive to everyone, and I have to ask you to leave". I have never been treated this way, and having worked in food service before, would have never thought to talk to a customer like this. These two ladies completely ruined our experience at Stormy's, and it is such a shame since Connie and the food were great. I do not think we will ever to go here again, and will not recommend it. Rocker OysterFellers in Valley Ford is great, and VERY family friendly. I guess if you want to go to Stormy's, DO NOT bring your children and stay out of the way of the GRAND-DAUGHTER!! read more

Had never been here but at one time Stormy's had a good reputation. Tonight, a Saturday we showed up at about 7:00 pm. Only two or three tables occupied in the bar, dining room empty and nobody sitting at the bar. We sat in the bar. Great feel, funky old typical of the area but it kind of stops there. Very dark actually hard to read the menu with these 54 year old eyes. Stormy's is very low key super casual again typical for the neighborhood and the kind of place I like to eat and drink. Soup was petty tasty, entree not so great. My brother had a steak it was huge. I mean really huge but quality was just ok. I had a beef scaloppine dish. Just not very tasty, my nephew. Had prawns. We out on the coast, the seemed a bit over cooked and were just ok. Overall the menu is really limited I was kind of shocked. Most restaurants offer to much, Stormy's did not have much to offer, the prime rib was sold out I think they had it on Friday and ran out by Saturday. Drinks were just ok, service was provided by a nice waitress but she forgot a few things and needed to be reminded. Parking is plentiful and again the night we went, the place was empty. We actually thought it was closed when we drove past but again years ago my sister and her husband eaten here and felt is was ok and might be worth another try. They were also disappointed with tonight's meal and indicated they would not return. I've been here several times over the years and this place is consitentlyl good.While it still has an old fashioned feel to it, we thought, the last time we were here, that it looked like they had spruced things up a bit (also looked like the prices had gone up a bit as well). Entrees range from about $21 to $38, so not cheap. Drinks were good and strong and our server was very attentive. Meals are served 'family style', which just means that salad and clam chowder are included and everyone serves themselves out of a communal serving dish. That said, the bowl of soup and the salad were a little on the skimpy side. Not that we needed huge servings, and I can see why they wouldn't want to incur a lot of waste, but still, the amount of soup provided for our party of 6 was enough for everyone to have a few spoonfulls.I]m guessing we would have been given a similar amount if it were a table of 3 or 4. Also, as someone said, the clam chowder, while tasty, is not gourmet nor is it swimming with clams. The salad is old fashioned iceberg pieces with some carrot shreds & croutons, nothing to write home about. But, the entrees were all very good.. One friend had the rack of lamb, which he said was excellent. My daughter likes their lamb and she doesn't even like lamb. Two of us had the filet steak, and I have to say it was the best steak I've had in months. One of our party went with the New York steak, since he decided he 'wasn't hungry enough for prime rib'. What he was served was the biggest New York any of us had ever seen, so he went home with enough for steak & eggs for breakfast. You can eat in the bar or in the dining room, and on the night we went, the bar was pretty full but the dining room was nearly empty. Maybe it was just a post-holiday thing, and since it was a cold night, I can see why smaller parties would choose to eat near the fireplace. Willl definitely go back again. read more

We had driven by Stormy's for years and finely decided to give it a try. We wondered what it would be like because The Yelp reviews seem to be either really good or bad. We had reservations on a very warm day for dinner that evening. Upon entering the restaurant the first thing you notice is ALL the Clutter. The wait staff was very nice and explained everything because it was our first time there. We had checked out the menu online so we had an idea of what our dinner choices would be. We were there to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We were seated in a large area at a table with no silverware. The chairs are very rickety and were wobbly. The clam chowder was average, the carrots overpower the chowder. The Garlic bread is Delish....super yummy! The salad is average. To eat at Stormy's is not cheap. We ordered fried chicken which while a huge portion has ZERO taste. A person asked for the salt & pepper and the shaker's were sticky....yuck. The fish of the day was blah. The restaurant was toooooo warm to be comfortable and the bathrooms which must not be air conditioned were like a sauna, In the dining room there are cobwebs everywhere. We spent about 150 dollars on food that was less than mediocre. I kept thinking the Chef Robert Irvine from RESTAURANT IMPOSSIBLE needs to come in and fix this place. They could be INCREDIBLE LIKE NICK's COVE in Marshall which has a similar concept, except the food there is GREAT, LOCAL , ORGANIC for THE SAME type of PRICES...plus it is CLEAN. I have eaten at this restaurant for years and never thought I would say this --- DON'T GO!!! We went there this past Sunday for Father's Day and we were beyond shocked at how horrible the food was. The bread was terrible, the clam chowder was barely warm, watered down, and had NO CLAMS in it. We were told that the kitchen was too busy to cook our appetizer, so it would probably come out during the middle of the meal. That's one for the books! (About 1/3 of the tables were empty.) Then, of course, in the middle of the meal we were told that they were not going to make it at all --- too busy. My steak was well-done instead of medium. My son's shrimp was tasteless, even after he put salt on it. Worst of all, my daughter's chicken (from the child's menu) was RAW. Only the outside coating was cooked. My husband immediately got up from the table, took her plate, and started walking into the kitchen to show the staff. He was met by a waitress who was standing in the doorway, completely frazzled, telling him how overwhelmed she was by the "rush." WHAT RUSH??!! The restaurant was not full, and there was no line waiting to get it. Then, just as my husband was walking back to the table, I was taking my first bite of the two onions rings that were next to my steak. I'm having to spit the onion ring out of my mouth because the batter is still raw! Now it's my turn to jump up and look for the waitress to get the hell out of there. I asked her directly about what was going on in the kitchen. She pretty much said that they were just busy and the kitchen was overwhelmed. We get a $96 bill that the waitress felt bad to give us, but she at least took off for my daughter's raw chicken. She said she didn't have "the power" to reduce our bill, but she certainly understood if we were upset. UPSET doesn't cover it. We had to go to In-N-Out burger because our kids were so hungry. We wasted good money, 2 hours of our time, and spent the rest of the night giving my husband extra hugs for having such a terrible Father's Day Meal. (At least some good came out of it all.) PLEASE believe me. I have never written a restaurant review in my life, and I use to love Stormy's. But, I hate the idea of people wasting their hard-earned money as we just did. I'm sorry Stormy's. just wanted to give our review of stormy's. we wandered in by chance on mother's day in l988 and have been going back ever since. we love everything about it. there is no other place like stormy's and that is why we drive as far as we do to enjoy their amazing food. for myself, this is the only place i will eat clam chowder. we would love to steal the salad dressing combinations as it is so tangy and refreshing. my favorite is the ny steak which is absolutely awesome and it has all the crispy bits l love. through the years we have been going to stormy's we feel that we've become part of their extended family as they have always welcomed us with wonderful hospitality and great food. thanks for all the fun memories. read more

We had heard about Stormy's from friends and they took us there on a Thursday night. It is in the middle of nowhere, but, we live out in the middle of nowhere, too! It actually is very convenient from Petaluma, Bodega Bay and Occidental, right off of Bodega Road. Atmosphere and charm for days...we expected to see the stage coach pull up front! We sat next to the ginormous stone fireplace and felt right at home. Taylor greeted us warmly and had our abundant cocktails to us in no time. We came for the prime rib and it was amazing...couldn't possibly eat the whole thing, so, steak and eggs the next morning! Our friends had the fried chicken and steak scalopini...I'm going for the fried chicken next time. Dinner included clam chowder and a fresh, fresh salad, and the obligatory sourdough bread with real butter. The dessert list is limited, but, bountiful. This is what old West County is about, so, if you want high society, don't go, but, if you want to feel welcome and leave with a fully satisfied stomach, try it...oh, even if it takes time, relax and enjoy your surroundings...this ain't no fast food joint! read more

DH had spied this place while out on a bike ride one day and wanted to try it. We made a six pm reservation for Sunday evening, lured by their Thursday/Sunday evening special (21.95 for chicken or seafood dinner, or 24.95 for steak.) Were seated right away and made very welcome. We felt like we were getting a bargain considering dinner included both house-made clam chowder and salad, in addition to the entree with vegetables and mashed potatoes. DH had the steak, and I had prime rib, and it was all delicious and more food than we could finish. We also had garlic bread with the chowder and I would go back for that alone. A rainy December night, the place was quiet and relaxed and the family staff who own and run this place (daughter was our server) were very attentive and friendly. The fireplace was so cozy and there was a football game on the TV in the corner if we had wanted to hang out and watch sports. A lovely way to end our weekend. We will definitely go back. read more
