From the minute I walked in the door and said "I need carpet"... It has been a great experience! I told them what I was looking for ... pet friendly carpet, the color and the style. I was led right to what I was looking for, took the sample home, they came and measured, and today some very nice young men put my new carpet in... And I love it! My friends and my contractor were shocked when I told them the price I paid! They had all guesses three times more than what I paid. I have a rectangular room 12 by 18, so there really wasn't any hassle with the install. The installers even made sure that my television and cable were hooked back up correctly and that all of my furniture was exactly where I wanted it. Absolute worst experience ever- brought in flooring sample to be matched, inept sales woman advised us on exactly what flooring would match our sample. We drive an hour both ways to pickup new flooring only to find out it is twice as thick as what we need. Drive back- bring flooring, speak to owner who acknowledges it is the wrong flooring and says he will get fixed. Never returns our calls. We drive there for the 3rd time now, and he won't even speak to us sends out the same sales woman. Finally he gets involved and won't do anything for us- saying it's our fault for ordering the wrong flooring when it was his employee who made the recommendation!! Won't refund- stuck with $900 worth of flooring we can't use. read more

The flooring that we ordered was fine but customer service was lacking. After placing the order there was no interest in making sure we were satisfied. We even called to order molding to match the flooring we ordered and the response was sluggish and lacking. I prefer to do business with local small businesses but for our flooring needs we will no longer be going back to Stout. read more

We needed to order a Shaw carpeting quickly and have it installed as soon as feasible. Stout was great at finding the carpet I needed and keeping in touch all along he way. They even went out of their way to bring color samples to my house during a snow storm to expedite things. To top it off, their price was much lower than another local carpeting business that I had been considering. A great experience from start to finish and I'm so thankful I found them! read more

I like the previous reviewer had same issues for scheduling and overcharged on estimate . Owner told me we would do remnant but than ordered. To top off his inept staff made a pipe leak in bathroom and leaked through ceiling to bottom floor on top of furniture that was soaked. IT WAS HORRIBLE. We went and talked with owner and said he'd look into it and never called back or rectified situation. Now we smell mild. WORST COMPANY EVER. read more

Stout flooring is an unscrupulous contractor. He took advantage of a mourning widow who had to move into a smaller house in Cloverleaf retirement homes in Carnegie. Stout charged her $12,284 to floor 1400 sq ft., about half carpeting and half a cheap laminate wood flooring (approx $80 per square yard). The floating laminate flooring has a big bubble in the center that he has not corrected. The bubble is big enough to trip over. Also included were nine plastic/polystyrene window blinds. Stout made her pay $9,000 upfront before he showed up. I am pursuing this complaint with State's Attorney General's Office and hopefully they will at least investigate. Also, I will pursue with the local news channels' consumer advocates. read more

Nearly 3 months late on completion, installed the wrong material twice, leaked water through the kitchen ceiling, had contractors call me to schedule and explain work, never knew what work needed to be done, never came to the job to check its progress. read more

I am so excited about my experience at Stout Flooring Design Center. I was able to complete several of my home renovation projects there. I stopped in for carpeting for my kids bedrooms and hardwood flooring for my 1st floor. I couldn't believe how big their showroom was. I picked out a couple different carpets and hardwoods and the owner came to my home to measure the next day. He was able to offer me advice on what would work best in my home and that helped me narrow my selections and make a final choice. I didn't feel pressured which I really appreciated. (I had been in another store before stopping at Stout Flooring and they wouldn't even give me any pricing unless they came to my home. I don't know about most people, but I hate high pressure sales people). I placed my order and the installation was completed in the time frame they quoted me. Pricing and quality of work is excellent!!!! Everyone at Stout Flooring was so nice to work with from the owners to the office lady to the installers. I couldn't be happier. read more

While the selection at Stout is fine and I am told the pricing is fair, their lack of customer service and professionalism is beyond lacking. I truly feel that once they got our money they no longer had any interest in the timing or quality of our install, or in our customer satisfaction. After repeated calls to get scheduling details, both of my instalation dates had to be rescheduled due to installer no-shows, and my house was left in need of professional cleaning. (There were greasy hand prints left on my walls, the trim was damaged, and my grout color choice was inadvertently left off of the paperwork, which I was told only AFTER the tile was installed so I could not even access the floor in order to make an appropriate color selection.) I am sorry to say I cannot recommend Stout Flooring. I do prefer to use local businesses over national retail outlets, but in this case it backfired. read more

Stout was my last of four stops in my shopping, including three carpet stores and one big box home improvement store. I dealt with the Mrs. Stout in the showroom. She was pleasant and took the time to answer all of my questions, without hovering. They easily came in with the best price and had a very nice and extensive selection, including options for every budget. Mr. Stout came to measure a few days later. He was professional, quick, and to the point (not a bad thing). We went back to the store a day later with a couple of different tile colors to match to the carpet and again dealt with Mr. Stout. He was helpful, including suggestions for the tile since I was doing the tile myself. The wait for the carpet was longer than they had said that it might be, but I wasn't in a hurry so more time to prepare at home. The installers (Scott and Justin) came and were extremely friendly and efficient. The only issue that I had was that in my talking to Mrs. Stout, I specifically asked if they use subcontractors and was told that they do not. When I learned that my installers were sub's, I was disappointed because I was told otherwise. However, Scott and Justin did great work and I have nothing but compliments on them. I will definitely go back for any other flooring needs and would recommend them. If you are looking for over the top super friendly customer service, not here. If you are looking for a fair price and great carpet, definitely give them a try. read more

worst store and customer service EVER!!!!!!! Rude, unprofessional and just a total waste of time. Ordered a floor for our kitchen renovation, waited weeks. Over a week late (they never called us, we had to call them several times to check on delivery). And then THEY ORDERED THE WRONG FLOOR!!!!!!!! Lost an entire day on contractor pay. Never even apologized, very rude to us. Still no call to let us know when the RIGHT floor was arriving (we had to make all the calls to follow that up also). But they sure called us to make sure we would "deliver" them with the wrong floor they ordered and we had to pick up. And here's my favorite quote "sooner rather than later would be good" Really????? Well considering how much of their incompetence, arrogance and lack of professionalism we had to deal with, we wouldn't want anyone put out. Had to take time out of our schedule to take back and just as rude as always. NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN WILL WE DEAL WITH THEM. read more
