While in the city last weekend, we were looking for a place to watch the FIFA match and McGregor vs. Holloway fight. Initially we walked to a couple other places not far away, but then circled back to this place which ended up being pretty for us (it was across the street from where we were staying). We got there early enough that it didn't take long to get inside and we had our pick at bar seats, so we got one right in front of the TVs that had both fifa and the fights on. The place itself is pretty big and spacious with a long bar on the left side as you are walking through, and high top tables and booths behind it. The vibe and decor gives what you would like of a pub. But again, very spacious and it eventually filled up fast after we were there for a little while. Service was good and our waitress (one of the bartenders) was great at checking on us, getting us what we need and just had overall good energy. We had a few rounds of shots and drinks along with our food. I got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and opted for sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, and it was pretty good. Cooked well, tasty, the slaw was fresh and added flavor but wasn't overbearing. My boyfriend said he enjoyed his food too which was the Double Stacked Smash Burger with white cheddar and add-ons of bacon, lettuce and tomato. At the time of my paying a visit to the Stout down near the Wall Street area, the Knicks were getting ready to play the Cavaliers and some friends wanted to do a long overdue meetup with me as it had been far too long. Though I don't indulge in the alcoholic beverages anymore, I never mind a Sprite, Seltzer or a clever mocktail and I knew I'd be hungry for something so a burger was on my agenda as well. Historically speaking, I've never been in this location of Stout but I remember the one up in the 40's around Times Square. I always had a good time and a few amazing pints of Guinness but that was when I regularly stepped out for beers with the buds. All that aside, a new place to go is of great interest to me. Inside of Stout looks amazing, its spacious with tables that one can stand around in addition to booths and a whole area towards the back where larger parties can be accomodated. As I mentioned, tonight was a big game and bars in NYC were ready to serve the attending masses. One of the many servers who was dressed up in a special NY Knicks bar shirt said the entire bar was reserved for the evening and there wasn't a table to be found. The bar itself that stood off to the side was open but this was for later on and we wouldn't be there at gametime. One of my friends work associates was with us and drinking Guinness while my friend had some kind of cider. As I said my drink of choice was a Sprite with limited ice and a couple of limes. I know, spiffy and classy. I was the only one eating and ordered The Stout Burger which was 8 ounces and came with lettuce and tomato and french fries. There was no cheese and if you wanted this it was an upcharge. TBH, a $22 burger should have included the cheese but I understand that everything is most costly nowadays. The fries were served in a little metal cup which looks nice but I guess I am old fashioned and prefer them piled onto the plate with the burger. My friends enjoyed their drinks and I my burger and we also had some nice chats with the bar staff so kudos to them for being friendly. That is the way to keep customers returning, a good experience. There was an open WiFi and the facilities were super clean which I always like to find being the case. While I saw some really negative Yelps about the place I can honestly say that this was not my experience at all. If you should come here I hope your time mirrors my own. read more

Overall, the food was really good. The ambience of the place is really cool, the portion sizes were solid. The only downside would be that the service was less than great, our original server disappeared after 20 minutes and then I guess the new server showed up and he then disappeared for 30 minutes after dropping our food off at the table. We ended up finding both of them in the back playing on their phone. read more

We came in to watch the NFL games. The atmosphere is nice, it's decorated for Christmas. There's multiple TVs for sports, not the biggest TVs but still. They have a ton of beers on the menu. We ordered the calamari and the oysters. Both were pretty good. We didn't order entrees, so I can't speak to that. Apparently they do a boozy brunch on the weekends and a Monday special for oysters and martinis. The service is kinda all over the place. The host wasn't present at the front for a while, so we waited a bit. There seems to be a lack of communication between the servers, like who's table is who's. We had to flag someone down to order. But afterwards, multiple servers asked if we needed anytime. I feel like if you're looking for a spot to have a beer, chill out and watch games or UFC or basketball, it's a nice spot. The service here was one of the most forgetful I've experienced. Our entire section could not flag our waitress for over 30-40 min and many parties had to order at the bar instead. The waitress kept forgetting our silverware after various requests and would forget every item we ordered and had to double, triple check. Came here on a Friday night in December during the holidays when staying at the Hyatt nearby - it's a LARGE place and seems like a great spot for locals and visitors alike. They have a great selection of beers (especially stouts, as you'd expect!) but what really stood out was the service from our bartender, Nic!! He was manning the whole bar by himself, wining up and down the very loonngggg bar all night long, and doing it with still staying so on top of everything and never making anyone wait. Took my parents for Restaurant Week and everyone was pretty happy. For Apps we got the Sweet n Spicy Crispy Cauliflower which really had a nice General Tsos taste. Very Crispy with the scallions and sesame seeds countering the sweetness. The chicken and veggie Potstickers were very solid dumplings for a sports bar. Loved the chili crisp in top. For main I got the Stout Burger which was good but a bit dry which was fixed when they brought out the Whiskey Carmelized onions that our waitress put in for even tho I actually ordered the mushrooms but the onions really elevated the burger so no complaints. Met some former coworkers here for the UFC 306 card to watch Suga get ragdolled for 25 minutes smh. Brutal card tbh, but Stout was a great place to watch a UFC event. Screens are in every corner of the bar, patrons aren't too rowdy, and we shared a decent amount of food that included wings, fried cauliflower, and loaded fries. It was a $10 cover to watch the PPV which was fine, but the $17 for a tiny espresso martini that was mid at best hurt my soul. It's these kinds of drinks that have me drinking less and less. I could have got a bomb meal for $17 but instead I got a middywap espresso martini. I was a little skeptical when I first walked into Stout because it felt more like a bar than a restaurant. Upon arrival, we were greeted by security, as it's a 21-and-up establishment. The hostess, unfortunately, was not very welcoming--she wasn't rude, but she also wasn't warm or friendly, which set a bit of a negative first impression. Once seated in the dining area further back, our experience greatly improved. Our waiter, Wendy, was incredibly sweet and kind, making up for the lack of hospitality at the entrance. The food was absolutely amazing! We tried the Stout mini burgers and the fire-roasted barbacoa street fries, both of which were packed with flavor. We also enjoyed two fun cocktails--Long Kiss Goodnight and Forever Young--which were delicious and well-crafted. The only other downside was the bathrooms, which were quite dirty and had a strong urine smell, but that's somewhat expected in a bar setting. Today, I decided to come here for lunch because I have this craving for fish and chips. I sat in the bar area, and Danielle was my server. She was great and helped me decide which mocktail to try. I told her that I had to go back to work, so I ended up trying the Feeling Peachy mocktail, which was refreshing. Then I had the fish and chips, which were cooked hot off the press. I've come to stout a few times over the years (both this location and midtown) and find it to be pretty reliable. The food itself is pretty good - of all the items I've gotten here, I've enjoyed the loaded fries the most, but the BBQ ribs were good for the price range (and being in nyc) as well. The fried pickles that came with the ribs were surprisingly good too - I never eat fried pickles, but enjoyed these quite a bit. The beer flight here I found to be a great value, you can try 4 beers for $12! And they had a decent selection on draft with some rotating options. That said, they had a wide variety of canned/bottled stouts (not surprised!). It's a big place that can accommodate large groups, with typically pretty good/fast service. read more

My son (19) & I stopped in for some March Madness madness...beers, Buffalo wings, giant pretzel, Stout burger & atmosphere. The place was rockin' and the servers were buzzing about. Smiles everywhere. The wings were the best I've had in some time. Crispy exterior & succulent interior. The pretzel was large & not Bavarian but still satisfying. I sprang $2 for the cheese sauce & it was worth it. My son said the burger on brioche was just average, but it looked pretty good from my vantage point. The beer selection is excellent too.
