Pizza was okay, there's certainly better in the downtown area but still decent for a group to share. The pies had a good amount of toppings, even the meat lovers which had good variety! We stopped by this spot for Friday happy hour, and it was a good time! Drinks were just $8 during happy hour (we're total suckers for a good deal), and the whole place had the perfect sports bar vibe--full Friday mood. The service was on point, the ambiance was lively with good music, and it felt like the ideal place to hang out with friends after work and just chill. This place has the most amazing happy hour specials! My husband is a UM fan and this is one of the major Michigan bars in the area and he loved it! We constantly felt rushed. We came to watch a football game at noon and were told we have to leave by 3. (Um... football games are longer than 3 hours.) They constantly came around and tried to clear our partially eaten food before we were done. They even tried to take someone's napkin before they were done. We did order food several times (bill was over $130) and also.... it's a sports bar. You know people are going to sit around. We saw another table run into the same issue. We went because the University of Michigan had them listed as a game bar, but since they clearly try to push you out after halftime it's not one I'd recommend. Also some pints are like 12 bucks! read more

Hadn't been to the bar since it re-opened from the East Side, but whether you go to see the Valkyries or Warriors at the Garden or the 49ers to play the Giants or the Jets at the Meadowlands, this place is conveniently a block away from Penn Station and MSG for a pre or post party celebration. Thanks to Dieter and gang for letting me know about the pre-party on Saturday. It was 49er HQ for the weekend. Of course they have shuttles and packages that leave from the bar when the Giants come to town as well. Highly recommended!

"You see, you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them." This classic line from Seinfeld perfectly sums up my recent experience at Brickyard during the 2023 Michigan-Ohio State game. Expectations were high for a thrilling game day, having made reservations two weeks in advance. The establishment, known for being a sponsored bar by the University of Michigan NYC Alumni Association, seemed like the perfect choice. Our excitement, however, was met with a profound disappointment when, despite multiple confirmations (via both text and phone, including night before), we were told upon arrival that they had overbooked and could not honor our reservation. The lack of empathy from the host, coupled with the absence of any gesture of apology or compensation, was disheartening. It took a conversation with the manager and our own suggestion to even get a round of drinks as a minimal courtesy. Adding to the frustration was the revelation that another family with young children faced the same predicament. To make matters worse, we learned that some guests without reservations were seated before us. This inconsistency in service and the failure to respect confirmed reservations ruined what should have been a memorable gathering of friends and alumni. In a location where alternatives were not readily available, we were left with no choice but to stand at the bar for the duration of the game. This experience was a stark reminder that making a reservation is only meaningful if it is respected and upheld. I hope this review serves as a cautionary tale for future patrons, especially during high-demand events. A guaranteed seat might not be as guaranteed as you think at Brickyard. read more

So boom--me and my friends just came here after work for a quick bite and to head home, right? BABY. Tell me why we ended up staying all. night. long. And it's all Benny's fault! First of all, Benny? A whole vibe. From the moment we walked in, he had the jokes, the energy, the "what y'all need, I got you" type service. Like, who trained this man? Beyoncé?? He saw us, sat us, and had drinks in our hands before we even blinked. I'm talking snatched edges and full glasses--fast. The way he had us cracking up and feeling like we ran the spot? Iconic. Service? 10/10. Attention? Immaculate. Energy? Unmatched. We were supposed to be home in our bonnets by 9pm and somehow it's midnight and we're still posted up ordering another round like we ain't got jobs. Came here for Super Bowl LX and had such a great time. The place was absolutely packed wall to wall, but the energy was fun and exactly what you want on a big game day. Loud, lively, tons of fans, and a great vibe all around. Huge shoutout to Benny, our server. He was AMAZING. Even with the restaurant completely slammed, he stayed friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. Drinks came out fast, food was timed well, and he kept checking in without ever making us feel rushed or forgotten. That kind of service on a night like the Super Bowl is not easy and he handled it like a pro. Food and drinks were solid, TVs everywhere, and the atmosphere made the game even more enjoyable. Benny was our server he is literally an icon he is so funny and nice. He catered to our every need. We didn't have to ask for anything he anticipated anything we might have asked for before we even thought of it. Leny another server was also super helpful and sweet we asked to change one of the tvs and she did it for us within seconds finding the exact channel we wanted even though we were clueless. We ordered burger, medium rare. The burger seemed microwaved and overcooked. Not grilled. The place was empty, so not clear why was the burger made the way it was. Also, the Sam Admas beer was light and didnt taste like it. The service was on demand. Nobody was coming over to ask how was our food. But if we asked for something, we were given what we wanted. Honestly, it was because we were seeing a movie at the Film Forum across the street and I was looking to see what was nearby and this popped up advertising happy hour on a Sunday. What more could I ask for? Anyway, be wary that happy hour runs until 8pm (which signs on the wall said 9pm so that was confusing) and when it becomes 7:30pm they do last call. Meaning the bar actually is closing and does in fact close at 8pm on a Sunday. They will go to such extreme lengths as to have security escort you out even if you haven't finished your drinks at 7:50-7:55pm. If the above wasn't what it was and they actually let people finish their drinks that they ordered from 'last call' then maybe I would consider boosting this to 4 stars. Admittedly, $10 for a cocktail during happy hour is pretty good. I didn't spring for the beer because $9 during happy hour is criminal. But then I'm pretty sure I paid between $8-10 for a beer when they first opened so I'm not surprised it just kept going up with inflation. Anyway, beers are actually made by Greenpoint Brewery. Which they have a very good Duck Porter which wasn't on tap. It's also I guess affiliated with the old Heartland Brewery, rip. The cocktails were a-okay. They're all made with Fever Tree mixes. I had ordered an espresso martini and a lemon drop which I had to down like an alcoholic. I tried my boyfriend's moscow mule and again, okay & decent. His mom came and she ordered a Guinness, not realizing it's in a can and she ordered the $10 sliders trio. Cheese is extra, god forbid. And the sliders are the tiniest I have ever seen in my life. Think and envision this: Take a martin's potato roll, smash it down, and divide that into 4ths and a regular hamburger and divide that into 4ths and serve 3 of the 4ths. It wasn't even on an actual slider roll. It was literally little tiny cut up pieces and shreds of roll. After seeing this I joked wondering how tiny is the size of the personal pizza. Is it a bagel bite? Or the size of a taco shell? One may never know. Structurally, this place is kind of neat. Its an older building from 1907 with original architecture and you get the feeling that they maybe stored horses in here once upon a time. Or at least perhaps before the FBI took over the building.
