This tiny family ran Hawaiian BBQ deserves your immediate attention. If you are within an 8 hour radius, fire up the transport, and get yourself to the Straight Up Cafe. I had the trio, and I have to admit I was guilty of writing off the shredded pork before I tried it just on the visuals - Big mistake Clearly the best from the trio, but it was a photo finish, and all three were off the charts Sterling and his Wife run the store, all the deserts are hand made, and they also offer chilli water to either sip or dip, that was a first for me. Did not disappoint If you're hungry, and within range, you owe it to yourself to check this place off your wish list. epic bbq - Better than hitting a 135 Picture bet - Straight Up!
A great small local hawaiian food spot! The plate portions are HUGE. Can easily feed 2 people or enough for leftovers. I got the straight up combo which was delicious. The kalua pig was average in my option but the kalbi and bbq chicken were SO flavor. The poke nachos were good but I'm personally not a fan of it being on tortilla chip instead of wonton chips. The portions size was decent size as well. the Chantilly cake is SOOO GOOD honestly the best i've ever had. better than zippys Service and vibes were great! Food took about 15 min but the owners were so nice and loved to chat. The decor and colorful interior is super cute
The first time I had the bbq chicken plate here was years ago and I still remembered how good it was. Well, I came back today and it was the still the same taste I had the first time. Everything tasted very good! This time I got the Kalua pig and cabbage plate and also the bbq chicken plate. I halved it with my son. My parents got the Kalbi plate and Kalua pig and cabbage plate. I did want to try the cucumber Kim chee instead of the cabbage Kim chee but they were out so I ended up with the cabbage Kim chee but it was pretty good. Overall, they make really good food here so you can't really go wrong with their plates no matter what you choose.

I live in the SW area of Las Vegas and this place is a bit of a drive but I would totally come back! Oh I also want to mention THEY MAKE THEIR OWN CHILI PEPPER WATER!!! 10/10 restaurant, I recommend.
My dad highly recommended me to come to this place. And it was def worth it!! I am not normally one that eats kahlua pig but this pork was so good!! The poke is what sold me and it was delicious! The service was really nice! The lady upfront was very helpful with questions and was super kind to offer suggestions. Very spirit of aloha here. I love the overall look of the restaurant. It's bright and features nice Hawaiian designs with bright colors. I will be bringing my friends and family here!
My wife and I are visiting from California. We were in the islands recently, a few weeks ago. We saw a review of this place on YouTube and decided to try it out. So glad we did! First of all, the woman greeted us with the spirit with aloha. She came to Vegas two years ago from Oahu, although she was born in Kauai. Full of the ohana spirit. She let me try some pickled onion that the chef had just made, perfect! She suggested trying the combo of kalua pork, chicken, and kalbi ribs, which come with one large scoop of potato mac salad, rice, and kimchi. We split the kimchi between the cucumber and the cabbage. We also had a POG drink. My wife and I split, and so glad we did. It's a huge amount of food. The kalbi was delicious, right up with the best I've ever had. The marinade and seasoning was to die for. The kalua pork was some of the best I've ever had, probably the best on the Mainland. We enjoyed the chicken as well. The potato mac salad was delicious, the best on the Mainland. The kimchi cucumber and cabbage, paired so well with everything else. We just loved this place. There are so many excellent Hawaii style places here on the Ninth Island, but none better than Straight Up Cafe, and I say that with all due respect to the many places we've tried here in Vegas, none have been bad but Straight Up was exceptional. The chef, came out to greet us as we were leaving! Five enthusiastic stars!!

Welcoming service to begin with. Were greeted with brief descriptions of what the menu entails. Purchased the Bbq Combo, Shrimp Tempura , and Kalua. All were satisfying in taste. Not to mention the Dream and Chantili cake. Prices are typical plate lunch as you would find at most Hawaii food places. All I know, is that the food is ono. Reminds me of backyard barbecues when living in Hawaii.
Food was so ono!!! The lilikoi lemonade is top notch and the service is awesome!! I love the bento style, too bad never have beach close by would be stop and head over to the beach right after Mahalo nui!! We live north but will be back down here! My coworker took me here for our lunch break and loved the ambiance when we first walked in. Tanya was so full of aloha and made me like I was right back home in Maui. I picked the kalua pig & cabbage plate with half kimchi cucumber and regular kimchi. I could not pass up the lilikoi lemonade. The taste and flavor of the food was amazing, the portions are huge and definitely could share with another, but we placed a take out order to eat back at the office. Her service was great and shared all the dessert options. Omg she had chantilly cake, guava cake, and even a chantilly brownie! I'm definitely coming back for those desserts to share with my girlfriend! Thank you for the great food and experience!

This is a cute, family styled setup that I was referred to when I had a mean hankering for some POKE. The young lady at the register was both sweet and helpful with my choice of what to eat. The space decorated with a bit of an island groove (colorful, spacious with island-y music). There seems to be quite a bit on the menu...which I'm gonna have to come back to try because me and this poke bowl have a date!!! This is a great space to come when you're with friends or big parties. It's in a shopping mall with lots of parking and other shops very close. Very friendly staff, the spam musubi is tasty. great portion for meat lovers if you get their straight up combo. The short ribs are very good, the other two meat: pig and chicken are ok. This place was "straight up" delishhhhh! I love love love Hawaiian food. This place is family owned in a big plaza on windmill. I ordered thier bbq chicken bowl since I was craving Hawaiian bbq. Perfect size with rice. Seasoned well and very saucy which I love! Sad there was no Mac salad that came with it but it's fine- less carbs for me. Very fresh made. Staff were very nice. Awesome family owned restaurant with big portions and delicious food. Although the interior is nothing fancy, the friendly service and ample seating more than make up for it. We built our own combo plates and everything was prepare perfectly. The slow cooked pork, shrimp tempura and macaroni/potato salad all stood out and are must-orders. I definitely will be back. The food was ok. Got the combo with ribs and teriyaki chicken. Some very charred inedible pieces. I don't need cancer thanks. The "cucumber kimchi " was a let down. It's just picked diced cucumbers no kimchi flavor. The Mac n potato salad was good though. The short ribs were ok. Too many charred pieces. Chicken was meh. It's almost there but not quite. My total came to $27. I would've expected better for that price. read more

We came back: AGAIN! We ordered the Kalua Pig Bowl w/ Cabbage. You have to add some of the spicy chilli sauce they serve in a bottle. Its soooo good! While we all like clean restaurants, we just wished they would go easy on the cleaning products. Guess they mopped the place; the Clorox-smell hit us as soon as we walked in. My daughter & I specifically stopped by Straight Up Cafe to try their Rainbow & Chantilly cake. Being originally from Hawaii, we always had these cakes for our birthday and special occasions. Rainbow Cake - 4/5 - if cake layers were a sponge/chiffon type, it would be a solid 5/5. Chantilly Cake - 5/5. Overall cakes were delicious and looking forward to trying other items on the menu. Straight Up Cafe hands down has the best local food in Las Vegas! From their mouth watering Pulehu Ribs, Striaght Up combo, BBQ chicken and Poke, Mixed plates, Specialty Dishes, to their ono deserts...the WHOLE menu is GRINDS!!! It's hard to beat their home cooked meals serving true local style plate lunches, just like back home in Hawai'i and you can't forget the chili peppah watah!!! They have THE BEST Mac/Potato salad...no competition there at all! The service is genuine with true aloha spirit where you become part of their 'ohana as soon as you walk in the door. Realized I left my review on the Straight Up Cafe truck page instead of here Located at the cross streets of E. Windmill and Bermuda Rd within Windmill Lane Plaza. Literally near Anytime Fitness if you can't find it. Friendly and superb customer service from start to finish. You simply cannot beat the ALOHA from a small family run biz! If you're in the mood for Hawaiian local food or delicious dessert options this is the place for you! I should have got the Straight Up Combo and Level 5 Dream Cake but didn't have the appetite to eat that much! Kalbi, BBQ Chicken & Kalua Pig with 2 scoops of Rice, Potato Mac Salad and Kimchi. The Kalbi & BBQ Chicken is marinated in our house marinate and the Kalua Pig is smoked to perfection... totally missed out! Level 5 Dream Cake THIS IS A DREAM! Our light airy chocolate cake whipped frosting, topped with chocolate shavings and to kick it up to that Level 5 we add a chocolate drizzle & mac nuts. Order at the counter, then have a seat. Food: Pulehu ShortRibs with cucumber kimchee Chantilly Cake Boiled Peanuts Let me first start by saying there's something about the Peanuts. So moist and tasty. Best I've ever had. The Shortribs were seasoned so good, and it was mouthwatering. The Chantilly cake was devine and not too sweet, in my opinion. Staff was nice and I loved the music playing. Food was amazing. First of all, let me start by saying that you can't skip the Crab/Poke bombs! Those things were incredible! I also, tried the PAC plate. It was a large portion, included potato mac salad & cucumber kimchi (I opted for cucumber kimchi). It was so flavorful and their rice was perfect. I've passed by this place so many times and I finally decided to go in. I'm so happy I finally tried them, just wish I would've stopped by sooner! read more
