I did the build your own salmon bowl and really enjoyed it, but a heads up for first timers: unlike some poke spots that include a couple toppings, here you pay per topping, so choose wisely. The teriyaki glaze is absolutely worth it, and I'd highly recommend the tempura flakes for the extra texture. The furikake and garlic chips were just okay for me. The garlic chips especially were a little too intense. We also ordered the bento, saimin, and fried chicken, and all of them were excellent. The fried chicken really stood out, super crispy, flavorful, and honestly better than a lot of Hawaiian spots I've tried. Definitely above average. Teri beef: 3/10 while it did look delicious I found myself having to spit out the meat because it was overly cooked-- super tough. You could sit there and chew for like 3 minutes and not even be able to break it down. That was disappointing cause I was looking forward to that so I only had a few bites before pushing it to the side. Portuguese sausage: 7/10 I'd say it was decent, nothing too special. Flavor was okay, there are better brands out there I feel.. maybe it just needs some pan fried crisp to it to bring the flavor & oils out. Rice: 10/10 perfectly cooked, not mushy at all. We decided to go here to get some mochi donuts and found this place on Yelp to try out. The entire time we waited in line and when we went up to the cashier nobody would make eye contact with us and smile or greet us. It almost seemed like I was annoying that cashier who rang us up. The places you'd find when you're food scrolling on tiktok. I was trying to find a really cool place to go eat, and I ran across this tick tock of people frying chicken coating it with salt and vinegar and putting it in a bucket. They claimed 20 pieces for $15. And it was pretty local so I knew I had to go check it out. The good news was I had been to this particular area before when I went to early birds last week. So was pleasantly surprised when I saw this place located in the same shopping center. When you walk in, it looks fairly deceiving as it is very clean and very plain. They have some cool wall murals, and pretty basic seating, but overall it looks like a clean and comfortable place to eat. The menu has so many food options for poke bowls to fried chicken, as well as mochi donuts. I was pretty fixated on the 20 pieces of fried chicken for $15 so I went with that with a couple mochi donuts on the side to have for breakfast the next day. I got to tell you, that's a lot of chicken for the money. The breading was absolutely perfect, and although the chicken could use some extra vinegar it was very very tasty. These are like the chicken nuggets you always wanted but didn't know existed. I would eat these all the time if I could. The mochi donuts were absolutely delicious. Have the perfect amount of mochi feel when you bite into them and the icings were on point. I can't wait to go back there and try the poke bowls and other things on the menu. You should definitely add this to your list of places to go check out when you're in Las Vegas. Bottom line? You could not go wrong with the salt and vinegar chicken bucket. Food was good but service was not. This place is where you order, pay, and tip before you get your food. I tipped $5 but regretted tipping. It's not the employees' fault. The place is just too busy. I feel like the management needs to hire more people so that the quality of service and wait time improves. For example, they need one employee solely to pack up food and one employee at the register. We dined at the restaurant but saw the tables were dirty. I don't think they have time to wipe down tables. One guy waited forever for his food so we felt bad for him. I want to return to this restaurant. Give this place a try. I've been going to Paina Cafe since 2014 when they were at Ward Warehouse in Hawaii. When that place was torn down, I'd drive 45 mins to their only location which was at Koko Marina Shopping Center. I was happy to know they opened a location in Vegas when I moved in 2022. Their Southwest location is only 7 mins away from me. I haven't been in a while, and today was my first time getting a poke bowl from there in quite some time. Unfortunately, I feel like they did something different to their spicy ahi tuna. It definitely doesn't taste the same. It now tastes like they're using pre-made sriracha-mayo, which I really don't like at all. It is very noticeable. This was my first time trying Paina Cafe, and it did not disappoint. They have several specialty bowls, or you can create your own. They also offer poke to purchase by the weight if you don't want a bowl. The fish was delicious and they offer a very generous portion. I dropped my rating down to 4 stars because in my opinion, when creating the Build Your Own bowl, additional toppings should not be charged for. 70 cents for each additional topping you add seems a little expensive, especially if you're just adding nori shreds or green onions. It can add up very quickly. Other than that, their specialty bowls are delicious and offer a good amount of toppings for a reasonable price. The fish tastes nice and fresh. I changed my mind on the Inari and told her I was just going to order a poke bowl. She told me "You can just put it back in there (their open cooler)." without even saying please or she could have just done her job by telling me that it's okay to just leave it in the counter to show good customer service. This location is conveniently close by to where we live so whenever we crave poke, we come here for the spicy ahi and the regular ahi poke. You get a good amount for half a pound each. We've had their chicken + rice plates before but personally, that was just average. They also close at 7pm which is a shame. And of course, we can't leave without getting some mochi donuts. My Kewalo Bowl was chock full of shoyu ahi that was well seasoned and every item had a purpose adding to the flavor experience. Upgrade to the large for the $1 more. It's worth it. They also offer mochi donuts, which are light, bouncy and not over fried tasting either a nice thick glaze that sweetens the experience. The thing that elevated this experience for me over the value, quality and taste was the service of the young lady at the register. It wasn't busy but she made sure that the kitchen was able to accommodate my sesame allergy and overly clarified to ensure that I had the best experience possible. Her friendly personality and recommendations made this a place to go back to again. The restaurant itself was clean with metallic tables, bright lighting and fun poster. A friend from HI suggested this place and I recently went to check out the newer location on Blue Diamond Food (3/5): I ordered the Nanae Salmon Poke Bowl and I really wanted to like it, but I personally felt like it was overloaded with pickled onions and rice. There were a lot of different toppings, but it didn't seem like they provided a lot of salmon, especially since I got the large size. The mochi donuts were great, however, and it was delicious trying a few different flavors. Service (5/5): we ordered takeout and our service was fast and friendly Ambiance (5/5): it's a small, but well designed restaurant. While we waited for our food, it was fun looking at the wall art and various options of desserts and food in the fridge. Overall (4/5): it's a good place to check out if you want desserts like ube custard pies or mochi donuts, but the poke fell short of my expectations. Wanted some mochi donuts and ended up here. I'm glad we did! I ordered a blueberry mochi donut and a chantilly cream croissant. The donuts were super soft, moist, chewy, and flavorful! A lot of the flavor was coming from the blueberry topping, but it was a good flavor. The croissant was very flaky, and the cream inside was interesting, I had never had chantilly cream before. The croissant was also drizzled in chocolate! We went in on Tuesday late morning and were the only ones there, so the service was quick! It was also very friendly!
