Straight Wharf is staying its course. My most recent visit was solid, but I don't necessarily thinks warrants 5 stars. The $90 prix fixe includes an app and an entree - pricey. The Buffalo fried fish app the waitress recommended wasn't my favorite and doesn't seem to be a dish that should be on the menu. It def felt like TGIFridays met Nantucket but not in a good way. Literally a deep fried block of fish smothered in buffalo sauce served on like a whipped blue cheese spread. Honestly, I think it was trying to elevate Buffalo when Buffalo can't be elevated. The fish entree I had was fine. Nothing out of this world. Actually quite unmemorable. Overall, $90 for 2 dishes that were fine, the app being even on a don't order suggestion, is a little jarring. Service and ambiance was great. I love the comp bread and little dip amuse bouche. Overall, fine. I think I ordered wrong, but I do think there are some better value and more exciting food happening at other places. read more

Walk-ins only. I arrived on a Sunday around noon with 13 parties ahead of me and was quoted a 45 minute wait but was pleasantly surprised to be seated within 25 minutes. The blackened swordfish sandwich was the standout and one of the best meals I had on Nantucket. I'm usually not a fan of coleslaw but theirs had a bit of an Asian inspired twist that was absolutely delicious. The house-made chips which my server highly recommended paired perfectly with the sandwich. Very friendly service, great food and well worth the wait. This review is for their takeaway side. Based on what I saw, I really want to check out the restaurant next summer!! I got their smoked scallops and they were the BEST EVER! First of all, I don't often see smoked scallops in the Bay Area, and when I've had Not exaggerating when I say these were amazing and couldn't be much better. Perfectly smoked with just a hint of smokiness (not overpowering at all). Also tasted super fresh!!! (Too Their selection of raw seafood all looked really good. straight wharf bar grill is my favorite dining spot on Nantucket. Come for apps and dessert or dinner and dessert and its near impossible that you'll leave disappointed. Note the common theme...the desserts are spectacular; the 2024 strawberry shortcake posset is (still) one of the most memorable things I ate last year. It is essential that you head over early, they open at 5:30, because once the seats fill up you're going to be waiting a long time. We had an absolutely terrible experience! Our waitress was exceptionally rude from the moment we were seated. Next level rude. We actually laughed out loud and just assumed she was having a horrible night. I have never felt more unwelcome. We arrived on time. We were polite, not demanding. We heard a lot of hype about this place. They don't take reservations and there is a line down the street. We showed up when they opened and was seated quickly. The service is attentive and the food comes timely. The swordfish was cooked beautifully. We did feel in need more seasoning but the charred grill flavor is pronounced. The whipped feta was delicious the pillow bread and ztar spices were foward and matched the salty, creamy dip. The bluefish was good. I thought it could use more smoke and salt because the parmesan crackers overpowered it. Just eat it with the table bread which is nice and fluffy. read more

Salmon crudo was quite good, 4/5, starting to impress and bring hope. Halibut on a bed of white beans arrived with a tasty, promising first bite that faded from memory as the delicate lemony finish faded into the dominant beans, becoming bland at best. Chewing through fibrous asparagus in the dish added little benefit; their bitterness mangled my palate. Other than that, it was pretty good, but at this price point only mediocre. read more

The food is great. Just know you will wait at a minimum 30 minutes past your reservation time. And they are doing you the favor to finally seat you. I've played their game for 25+ years. Tonight was the last time. There are plenty of other fabulous restaurants to go to in Nantucket that honor your reservation time. The Pearl, La Languedoc, The Galley, Ships Inn, Toppers..... Never once have they offered to buy us a drink, a desert... nothing. I guess since my family won't be returning that is one less reservation they will have to over book. read more

Been eating here over 20 years and notwithstanding great food and service, their front of house has kept my party waiting about 90% of my visits for not less than 15 and many times 30 minutes past my reservation time. I'm done! Ships Inn doesn't do this! Languedoc doesn't do this. Lola doesn't do this. There are too many great restaurants on this island who DO know how to manage their bookings -- they'll get my $ and loyalty going forward. Sadly Straight Wharf gets away with treating its customers so consistently horribly. read more

Our server was knowledgeable and kind. The food was amazing, and my entire family has been talking about how great it was since we left! Day trip from Provincetown, MA -- jumped the Hy-Line ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket and steps off the boat stumbled into this GEM. Horrible Treatment by staff & Ms Hannah I was towed by the hostess. It would be a 30 minute wait after 30 minutes I inquired about the wait time she said it would be an additional 30 minutes. I was upset and frustrated because I could've gotten seated at another restaurant within that time. After we were finally seated, the waitress apparently didn't know the difference between distilled and bottled water. She insisted the water was filtered. I explained I wanted bottle water. She then attempted to discuss with hostess and Ms Hannah the issue. Then Ms Hannah came over and asked if there was a problem. I explain the wait time situation and then the disagreement over distilled water and filtered water. She was rude, very unprofessional and went back to the staff and started talking about me and my fiancé. it was very obvious they looking at us and pointing while discussing. That was very unprofessional of her as a manager. I was completely humiliated. My fiancé and I decided to walk out of the restaurant. Just because this was Nantucket doesn't give you the right to feel you are entitled or above other people. Our money is just as good as anybody else. Presentation, flavor, service and ambiance were all excellent, and we appreciated the flexibility of their fixe prix menu where you could choose appetizer or meal portions for both starters and entrees (sometimes with supplemental pricing). We were also pleased with the gorgeous view from the back patio. We hadn't even requested outdoor seating and were delighted to see a rainbow appear during dessert. Although I have no negative comments at all, this is a case of expectation vs. reality. I expected to be over-the-moon with this special dinner, but will reluctantly admit that nothing especially stood out as very memorable. So glad my sister and I decided to dine here during our recent visit to Nantucket! We were wandering around town at dinner time and thought the outdoor seating area looked cute, so we grabbed a table and enjoyed the beautiful evening outside. I love mango, so I went with the It Takes Two to Mango cocktail ($20). This cocktail with a kick includes ghost tequila, Chinola Mango, Casamigos jalapeno, Cointreau, tajin and lime. It was both tasty and pretty! I'm glad it wasn't any spicer, but if you enjoy a "medium" level of spice this cocktail is for you. They don't have a vegan entree, so I asked our server if the chef could whip something up. The answer was yes! I ended up enjoying a beautiful (and flavorful) cauliflower steak. I normally don't get super excited about cauliflower steaks, as they usually aren't cooked long enough, but this one was perfect. Thank you! My sister ordered the salmon and seemed to enjoy her dish too. We had a side of bread (a modest portion), and asked for a refill at the end of dinner to round out the meal. Service was pretty good, no complaints there. Prices were as expected for Nantucket. I'd happily come back if I ever visit again! read more

The servers and staff were hard working and attentive. Our server made recommendations was knowledgeable and added value to our experience ( I would shout them out but can't recall their name.) It is a two course pre-fix. My husband doesn't eat seafood so there was less for him to choose from, but still options for chicken and steak. His steak wasn't the medium rare he ordered but not worth it to send back in. We tried two desserts, one was the carrot cake which was not an actual carrot cake. We had dinner for 8 in celebration of my father's 93rd birthday tonight. I spent over $1,800 for it. The restaurant did some things reasonably well and unfortunately did some things very, very poorly. My parents arrived shortly before us, 5 minutes before the restaurant officially opened at 5:30. The hostess asked them to leave and wait outside until the restaurant officially opened. They made a 93 year old man and 81 year old woman leave the fully-staffed restaurant and wait outside until the clock officially struck 5:30. Seriously. When we were seated (at 5:31, to be precise) we had a table jammed in a corner of the restaurant. That was fine. But the table was backed up to a large free-standing air conditioning unit that had a fan perched on top of it. It was 6 inches from the back of our chairs. The AC unit and fan blew very loud and freezing cold at our backs. When I asked the hostess for another table, she said we could manually turn the unit off if we wanted. She said they had nothing else to offer us, got annoyed, and then said she was leaving the wine and cocktail menus at the table and just walked away as we all stood there waiting for either a hand or another option. We spent the rest of the meal alternating between getting blasted by a large AC unit essentially sitting at our table, or manually turning it off and being very hot (even though it was only 70 degrees outside). It was just a poor and inhospitable experience for a restaurant that bills itself as classy. The restaurant was not a total bust. It is beautiful in some respects. Very classic looking and pretty overall, if you are not sitting where we were. The food is fairly good -- not great by any means, but good enough to make a nice experience. The wine list is thoughtfully done and has lots of great stuff. As someone who appreciates wine (and ordered expensive wine to celebrate my Dad even though I was seriously annoyed at the restaurant), I liked that. But ultimately, the restaurant did not treat us with warmth, hospitality or grace. And that is a fundamental failure. We won't be back. read more

Ate here over Figawi, 4 of us, the Crab spaghetti pasta was outstanding and easily the best dish of the evening. 2 of us got the Salmon with some sort or "hummus" and odd tangy barbecue style sauce on top. The salmon was quite very over cooked and dry, the sauce and mush underneath were odd tasting and off putting at best. Service was quite good for a terribly busy night. The place was packed and loud, but not offensively so. For roughly $200 per person, I hesitate to recommend it. The crab pasta was outstanding! read more

Our visit started rough. I had made a reservation via Open Table and requested a window table on the reservation. We arrived early to a basically empty restaurant, except for two tables, yet were going to be seated next to the bathroom. Why do some restaurants put you in a crappy table when better tables are available? We politely asked for the window table and they were enthusiastically nice about seating us there. Just not sure why we had to ask (we also asked if we could sit on the patio, as it was basically empty and were told no, that they had reservations already - but I doubt that was the case when table sat empty during our time dining). After cocktails (reasonably priced and delicious), we started with the two course fixed price menu. I started with beef tartare. It was very good. My wife started with the soup and it was delicious!!! For dinner, my wife had the spiced Halibut and I had the Salmon. Unfortunately, the Halibut was just too salty. The fish itself was very fresh and cooked perfectly tender. She enjoyed it when she cut off the spiced topping. My Salmon was probably the best tasting Salmon dish I had ever had - anywhere. When asked how our meal was my wife mentioned the fish was just too salty for her, but she worked around it. They could not have been nicer and more apologetic. They immediately took the fish off the bill. The manager also came by. I have not seen a restaurant handle and issue so well and put the customer first. They certainly earned our loyalty and we will be back next time in Nantucket. read more

Probably my fave meal in Nantucket! They have a 2 course prix fixe menu for ~$80. To start, we got the salmon crudo and the clambake. The clambake is a must order, they give so much seafood (giant lobster claw!) and it's super fresh. The salmon was also ready good, great mix of flavors. The crusted fish was actually my favorite dish of the night, it was lightly crusted and perfectly cooked. I don't normally like beans but the whole combination was a delight for my taste buds. The seared scallops were also very good, perfectly seared and gigantic. Do not skip on the dessert either - their galette is amazing! read more

This ended up being our favorite meal on the island on our recent trip to Nantucket. The expanded COVID-era outdoor seating allows for some amazing views of the harbor from the dock. Prix fixe menu - two courses for $75. We started with the salmon crudo and nectarine panzanella (huge) - both were delicious and beautifully plated. Second course we did the ribeye and the scallops which both hit the mark. Closed out with the peach and blueberry galette which came recommended - amazing with the ginger ice cream. ***HEADS UP***This restaurant has a 2 course prix fixed menu, and does little to nothing to accommodate children. All that I can say to anyone considering to visit this restaurant ***READ THE FINE PRINT***. Booking your reservation through their online reservation system requires a credit card. This was a once-in-a-lifetime trip that my family was taking to celebrate a 70th birthday. Being new to the island, with two kids we booked this reservation online before our arrival. The night before our reservation, we received a text mentioning the 2 course menu. I tried to call the restaurant immediately that morning to discuss our options/express my concerns. They do not open until 5:30 pm so my only option was to simply cancel my reservation that morning online. Never heard from the restaurant until 11 DAYS AFTER our trip hitting us with a $350 bill for the late cancellation via an email. When I explained our reasoning, I was emailed links with 'fine text' outlining their policy. Not willing to work with me, or meet halfway given our situation. To make matters worse, it was all via email before business hours so that I cannot call the restaurant to discuss directly to the person. Very disappointed that 11 days after our trip to Nantucket this was the sour taste that has been left in our mouths. What happened to the customer coming first? What happened to communicating with a customer directly rather than through a computer screen. Terribly disappointed. Beware before you book.
