UPDATE: I enjoyed some spa services yesterday. I wish I could downgrade the stars to 4.5 instead of 5 based on the pedicure. Although I LOVED the massage and the care and treatment that Jane provides with both my AMAZING gel manicure and aroma PEDI...I think that they are a bit overpriced...(gel set is regularly 60.00 and you can go next door for less and same quality) as well, they don't have massage chairs. Instead you have to sit with a straight back bench/wall behind you and its hard to get really relaxed with this. Otherwise she is super special and I recommend her completely. I also had my brows done again SUPER!! And I had a spray tan that looks amazing ...even one day later. I took a shower and only a top of layer of dust came off. And i am very happy with it. DayDay (sp) is amazing. She did the tan and I will be back. 20 dollars for upper body and face is VERY reasonable. Sarah is the first persons to inspire a 'yipee' moment after getting my hair styled and colored in quite awhile. Years in fact. She really did a great job. We discussed what I had in mind, she made suggestions after listening to me and convinced me to go a little different direction AND SHE WAS SO RIGHT ON!~ My color and highlight are perfect. She understands curly hair and gave me a snappy cut to go with it. I even had her dry it straight today to see what my options can be:) Thank you fellow yelpers for this tip. I won't let anyone else touch my hair from now on, if I can help it. And, Clare...she is a star in her own right. I have been growing my brows after I botched them by self tweezing awhile back. She took a look at my face, thought about it awhile and again..YIPEE! She took years off my eyes and brightened my face with only a little ouch moment on my left brow. She only accepts cash for her work. She also does all sorts of other treatments. I will be back to sample in the future. This full service salon also offers manis and pedis. But today, I only spent on the hair and face. The hair was a bargain compared to some other salons who didn't do anywhere near as good a job. It is not inexpensive but, the quality is supreme. The only criticism I have is that you have to give tips in cash. I wasn't prepared for this and went to the market and came back. This should be clearly stated at the time of making the appointment. I imagine that some folks don't get their tips sometimes. read more

Can I give this place 6 stars?!?! Basically I went home to Southern California for Christmas and got my hair cut and colored while I was down there. The lady totally messed up my color and then went out of town so I couldn't go back to her to fix it. So I turned to help where I found Strands and hit them help about my problem. The incredibly sweet receptionist recommended I see Carissa, who took me in for a same day appointment. Carissa was incredibly sweet and did a FABULOUS job on my hair. I was referred to her by a friend and Very very happy that I took her up on her referral. I don't like change to my hair I'm always so nervous about cutting it and doing something different and at the same time I'm tired of looking the same year after year. NATALIA was AWESOME!! I explained to her multiple times in multiple different ways what I want and didn't want she took the time to explain to me why I could or couldn't do some thing and what would work. OMG... love love love! I was going to Vegas over the 4th of July weekend and I decided that I wanted to get a haircut the day before I left. With only a couple hours to spare, I frantically called around to hair salons with good Yelp reviews to see if they could fit me in right then and there. After nearly giving up, I finally called Strands and they said they could fit me in. Woohoo! I ended up getting my haircut by Sylvia, who is super super sweet. I pretty much gave her control of my hair; I wanted it to be cut a few inches but wasn't sure on the style, so I let her do her thing. I ended up with a GREAT cut that I'm so happy with and that I've received so many compliments on (even my boyfriend noticed - when does THAT happen?). AND... to put the icing on the top of the cake, they gave me a coupon when I left for 50% off my next haircut. I would have gone back regardless, but this helps make me even more of a loyal customer. Denae is an excellent stylist and she saved my hair! I am a blonde with super straight hair and it is hard to find someone who knows how to style my hair. My hair follicle is super fine but there are so many follicles so my hair is super thick. Denae knew exactly how to 'rough the cuticle' and now I have volume for the first time in my life!! I get so many compliments on my hair, it was worth every penny. I love this place and will not go anywhere else... I highly recommend Denae! read more

I went to Carissa after my hair was mistakenly turned a deep, almost black, red. It had washed out some, but I told her that I desperately wanted to be blonde again. She transformed my hair effortlessly. She explained that I wouldn't be totally back to blonde, which was understandable, but I finally felt like myself again. Not only was I tremendously impressed with the results, but she did my full highlights in record time! I hate sitting there for hours waiting to be foiled, and she was SO fast! I've been going to Strands for my manicures for over three years and couldn't be happier with the amazing service I get from Lisa. She is quite possibly the most meticulous manicurist I have ever known, and her every time I leave the salon I am truly impressed with how gorgeous my nails look. I have always had thin, brittle nails so get an acrylic layer on top of my natural nail, with a gel polish that last weeks and weeks. She is efficient and always has a smile for me. This is a great salon and they do top-notch hair. The colorists are very good. The nails are fairly good as well but I go elsewhere. The only less than stellar feedback I have is that they are very expensive. The results are great but I wouldn't go there more than once/year if that. By the time you walk out, the price you were quoted is doubled. Most people won't pay north of $200 for a color/style. General tips with high-end salons: - Go in with a picture that is as close as possible to exactly what you want. The more vague you are, the more expensive it will be while they work to "formulate" your look - Avoid the vocabulary. Using words like wanting a more "edgy" look will double the cost of the cut/style - Make sure they give you some instruction on how to style your own hair after you leave. You probably don't have the professional tools they use and you don't have the 30 mins they took to style your hair every day. They should tell you how to generally maintain the style with a standard brush and dryer. - When you arrive, confirm the verbal quote. If it's "$95 and up" ask what the ceiling is and what the difference is between the "$95 and $195" color/style. Show them your pic and ask them to quote you based on the intended end product. They should be able to give you a fairly good idea. - In spite of cost, make sure you give a fair tip if you like the stylist. If they are fair and do great work, they should get a good tip! All said they are a great salon, and if you go there be prepared for the bill. read more

I have gone to her on five different occasions now and every time she does the most amazing flat iron blow out that gets me tons and tons of compliments. In fact recently I went to NYC and visited the popular BLOW hair salon and paid 60 dollars for a blowout that was no where near the caliber of Sylvia's work and at a fraction of the price! I have gone here for about 4 years, I have never been disappointed. Jeffrey is fantastic and everyone I know who goes to him is absolutely in love with the work he does. My favorite stylist there, however, is Denae. She is an absolute delight. One of the nicest people I know and she makes me hair look amazing every time. She teaches you how to care for your hair without being too pushy her products. I am always welcomed with a smile and a hug and then we spend the entire time talking about everything. I have been seeing a Jeffrey for years and trust him to be honest about what he can (and cannot) do with my hair. With Covid, I had to color my own hair and could never get the shade right. My hair was in a very sad state by the time Strands opened again and Jeffrey somehow managed to fix my color. He added highlights to break up the visible color lines in my hair (from each shade that I tried) and he cut off 5 inches. I left Strands feeling human again. read more

I was very impressed with the precautions Strands has taken to ensure the safety of their clientele and staff during the pandemic. Customers are spaced sufficiently far apart, plastic dividers are in place at the front desk and shampooing stations, and I witnessed them thoroughly wiping down and disinfecting all surfaces in between uses. Their actions reassured me and made me feel like they were taking my health and safety seriously. I really wanted this place to be my new go-to place to get my hair done but it completely feel short. Having had some bad experiences before I called and asked the woman who answered the phone if they could schedule me for a haircut with someone who is experienced in cutting straight hair, I was given a name of a woman and my appointment was booked. I tried to explain that I wanted layers in my hair but I didn't want boxes ones it has been something that some people seem to do. I even pointed out a few people and she said she understood it was a complete disaster. My hair was uneven all over, she was definitely not the seasoned person I was assured to get on the phone. I was so upset since I had grown my hair out for so long only to have to cut my hair short in order to get it even. I paid and tipped for this horrible cut I don't know why but some other stylist offered to help fix it. He even had no idea how to fix it since it was such a disaster. He did the best he could and spend quite a long time trying to help which was very nice of him. I tipped him as well since he spent so much time with me trying to fix the other stylist horrible cut. I liked the man who fixed it so much I decided to get my hair highlighted with him however the highlights weren't really noticeable when I left I went back a few weeks later to see if they faded he did another highlight (charged for both) but I was unhappy because you couldn't see the highlights at all they are layered under my hair so you have to split my hair to even see them. my hair is darker looking then when I went in and I paid for 2 highlights within 6 weeks. I don't know what to do know because my hair feels so fried from all the bleach its completely dry and tangled I have never paid more money at one place 3 times to get a terrible haircut and highlights that you can't see. for the amount of money I paid I wish I would of gone to a better salon. 400+ dollars down the drain for uneven dry tangled hair without highlights. I tried 3 times, I paid for services that were below average and one that was so uneven I should of been refunded. Clearly the woman does not know how to cut straight hair like the woman behind the counter said. If you recommend someone they should be able to follow thru. I guess I'm waiting for my hair to grow out again and hopefully find a colorist that knows how to do highlights that aren't under the hair and hidden. What a waste of time and money. read more

This was my first time coming to Strands Salon, and I could not have been happier! I called the salon and was so happy that I was able to schedule an appointment within just a few days. Jenna was my stylist, and she was incredibly friendly and very considerate of COVID-19 safety protocols which made me feel very safe. The results of my haircut and full highlights were amazing! So I call on a Monday to take my son in for a cut. I get a spot that day (only because it was a weekday and a Monday, don't try this on a Saturday), and bring in my son. We were greeted immediately by Glenda and sat out in the sun waiting for our stylist. Denise did a great job on my sons med-long hair, was professional and just plain nice. When the cut was done, I went to pay. But check this out. No charge! You see, as Glenda explained, you came in nearly a year ago, had to wait for a very long time and left (I did, frustrated). So this one is on us, and we apologize. I can't say enough. This is how you run a business. I have been going to Strands to get my hair cut by Lisa for 15 years now. I love how she styles my hair. I also enjoy the rest of the staff there. When Lisa couldn't cut my hair for awhile, another stylist took over, and I was happy with her work as well. Everyone in the salon is very friendly. Glenda, the receptionist is the best! There are a couple times out of the year when I need to go shirtless for a few days. Ya know, like when we go to the beach. In preparation for this I'll make my way in for a good old fashioned back-waxing. The reason I do this is because there are a couple things I'm afraid of while on vacation. One is that after I get up from my beach towel a kid will point and scream "Sasquatch!!!", sending all of the beach revelers into a state of anarchy. The other concern is that The US Dept of Fish & Wildlife will be there and try to tag and release me back into the wild. The wax specialist at Strands is an immigrant from the former Soviet Union. There is a reason why I mention this. She has a thick Eastern Bloc accent and during the process she is peppering me with questions. During a waxing you are laying in a prone position and usually in a cold sweat. The worst part of the hair removal is right above your kidneys and spine. So as a distraction from the pain, I pretend it is during the Cold War and I'm being interrogated as a US spy. That is how much it hurts over these particular areas. Now I would reward her five-stars as she always does a great job, but anything that causes that much pain, suffering, and anxiety does not get a full rating. I really want to like this place since it's conveniently located near work n reasonably priced. But the haircuts I got twice were just ok....well, the second time was really bad that I had to recut it somewhere else. I knew i didnt like the cut when i was still in the chair, and when she pulled out the hair straightener to "fix" it, i knew that was NOT right. A good cut does not require a straightener esp since I have straight fine hair. The shape wasnt falling into place and i was left with a triangle face. I was referred to Strands by a friend for the first time visit. I was scheduled with Daniel and due to heavy traffic, arrived a little late for my appt. Unfortunately, this stylist was rude and abrupt and I was chastised for arriving slightly late. He went ahead with my appt. but I found my experience with him to be just "ok" but would certainly not request him in the future. I did have another opportunity to revisit the salon and was given a highlight by Carissa. She was a pleasure to deal with, very professional and made recommendations suitable for me. I also received a 10% coupon for a discount towards svcs. as a further token. Had it not been for Carissa and other Strands staff members I would not have considered returning - based on my first experience with Daniel I was ready to call it quits but thankfully they turned things around. read more

Never heard of this place and my original salon that I always go to was closed, but I was in dyer need of a hair cut my tips were sooo bad!! This salon popped up in my search for a salon that was open early so I took my chances and went in for a trim. Sarah was my stylist that day and let me tell you she was awesome!!! She did exactly what I asked didn't try to convince me otherwise like other places usually do and didn't try to sell me any unneeded, overpriced products. She was great to talk to, very high spirited, and super sweet!! I would definitely recommend this salon to other people!!
