Half the staff is really nice friendly and very helpful, especially the older staff. Half the staff needs to work on hospitality and customer service(specifically the younger girls that work there). Spyder is not a cheap store so getting good customer service and feeling welcome is always important to me. I'd like to warn anyone shopping for clothes about the store. I just recently bought a skirt on the sale rack that I noticed was damaged, ripped, missing a button when I got home. I called immediately when I noticed the damaged skirt. The sales associate remembered me and told me that was the reason it was on the sales rack, because it was damaged. And she said told me it was final sale. I worked in retail for 3 years and I think that's a horrible. Purposely selling damaged clothes for a small percentage off. Not cool. She should have offered me my money back. I spend a couple hundred dollars today on clothes that's the least she could do. Very disappointed today with the service unfortunately. So to anyone shopping be careful with sale items. The associate told me they put damaged items on the sale rack and they do not warn the guests that they are damaged when purchasing.... not good... Richard and Tamara totally resolved my issue. They apologized and gave me a full refund for my damaged skirt. I really do enjoy Spyder surf shop. And I always recommend my friends go check it out for surf equipment. Thanks Spyder for being awesome !!

(to give you a visual) womp, womp. Jake assessed the "project" to determine that it wasn't fit for me to ride, which made me feel safe that I was in good hands as he was looking out for my well-being - LOVE THAT! Love you, Jake!!! You're my boy blue. The repairs were costly at first, and he made it work within my budget. Full transparency (asking questions) and good communication go a long way and keep the peace (note to everyone). I am soooo beyond grateful that he knew what was needed and took care of it all within just two days! Attentive, fast, and thorough - calling to share updates along the way. (No one likes financial surprises, so that was kind on my wallet). Also, upon pickup, Kevin noticed my seat was too low and hiked it up to the height that was appropriate for my leg/knee length - thank you, Kevin! 5 stars and 5 snaps! If your bike is broken... this is where you go without a doubt. You're welcome. Thanks again, Jake & Kevin!

However, I abhor their customer service. I bought a used pair of Terra 9s from eBay. After the brake fell off while in use (thankfully I was able to drag my skate to stop and wasn't hurt), I searched the internet and found out these skates had been recalled: http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2006/LandRoller-Inc-Recalls-to-Repair-Roller-Skates/ When I tried to contact the company about the recall, I received no response. I finally had to do an email carpet bomb to all the common email addresses (info@, sales@, support@, abuse@, postmaster@, webmaster@...) before getting in touch with a representative, Barbie Johnson. She assured me that my skates were not part of the recall, and that the brake falling off was just bad luck and a loose bolt. So I asked about getting a replacement brake, and she assured me that the brake for the current model (Mojo) would fit my Terra 9 skates. So I sucked it up and ordered the $7 pad plus tax and an outrage-inducing $15.24 shipping. I told them in the comments field to ship via a USPS priority mail envelope, and they took me up on my advice (but still kept the additional $10 shipping. You're welcome.) And I would have been happy for them to do so since they did ship 2 brake pads instead of just one. But... THE MOJO BRAKE PAD DOES NOT FIT THE TERRA 9 SKATE. See for yourself how the base of the pad (sort of a beaker shape) doesn't match the slot in the brake arm (squat trapezoid): https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ysi3zs7il9c3t4/Landroller%20Mojo%20brake%20pad%20does%20not%20fit%20Terra%209%20skate.jpg When I told Barbie this, she told me, "It was said that the break [sic] pads fit the Terra 9 break [sic] arm... Unfortunately we no longer have Terra 9 break arms to sell. At this point I no longer have the conversion kit to sell you." This passive, ignorantly homophonous response completely deflects responsibility and leaves me absolutely no options. So my skates are now useless because Landroller cannot support their own product by selling me an essential piece of safety gear. I asked Barbie to let me return the brakes for a full refund. But despite my explicit request 3 weeks ago, a return authorization code and return shipping label have yet to appear. So I contested the charge with my credit card company. At this point I don't care how much better these skates are than Rollerblades. With customer service like this, I refuse do business with them.

I tried on the Adidas Tokyo shoes I've been eyeing, but once I saw them on my foot, it was a hard no; they looked like banana boats, and that's not cute at all. I ended up getting a black and cream gum bottom New Balance pair that I really like. I'm planning to wear them with a dress and some lacy socks. The young lady working the shoe section was on it, assisting me and several other customers at the same time, and she didn't miss a beat. She did everything with a smile, too. Dick's Sporting Goods is always well‑stocked, organized, and reliable. Definitely recommend.

Very Disappointing Customer Service Experience…read more I had a very unpleasant experience with a member of the leadership team named Billy during a recent visit to the Dick's Sporting Goods at Del Amo. I attempted to return a pair of youth cleats that were still in new condition. They showed no signs of wear on the soles--only a small amount of dust from my child trying them on briefly on a dirt field. The cleats were black, making the dust more noticeable. I purchased them just 27 days earlier and had my original receipt. According to the return policy printed on the receipt, returns are accepted for items in new condition. Billy immediately refused both a refund and even a store credit. Because he was the acting leader, I requested to speak with the store manager. Billy seemed reluctant to involve the manager, but I insisted. Store Manager Val inspected the cleats himself. He explained that worn shoes are generally not eligible for return, but after examining the cleats and confirming they were still in new condition and within the 30-day return window, he approved a store credit. What disappointed me most wasn't the policy--it was Billy's customer service. Throughout the interaction, he had a dismissive attitude, made very little eye contact, appeared irritated whenever I asked a question, and showed no interest in resolving the situation professionally. Those are qualities I would not expect from someone in a leadership position. I appreciate Manager Val for taking the time to inspect the item and applying the return policy fairly. Unfortunately, Billy's approach made what should have been a simple return into an unnecessarily frustrating experience.
