I'm a New York native through and through and one thing I know is bagels. Let's be honest, NYC bagels VS Long Island bagels (with some exceptions) is superior! Now, with that being said and the reason I bring that up is cause this Long Island bagel spot not only doesn't hold a candle to NYC bagels, but I think would barely compete with other local LI spots. First bite you know. Soft (too soft) under baked and DRY as heck SMOTHERED in cream cheese. Who doesn't like cream cheese but there is a limit. That's really not that big a deal. It's the bagel itself. Just not on par. I've had better store bought bagels. Staff was no help. Saw two interesting cream choices I wanted to know what it was. The kid, and the kid he was training (LOL) didn't know what seemed liked any of the cream cheeses were, and was told "umm I'd have to ask". I have been going to strathmore since I was a kid. Obviously when looking for bagels this would be my first choice. Strathmore has delicious bagels, sandwiches, and baked goods. The bagels are soft and always fresh and they give you the perfect amount of cream cheese on the bagels. The staff is usually very friendly and efficient but there are many inconsistencies that I've found that have lead to this review. On a number of occasions my order has not been correct. Now listen the orders are not as difficult as you would imagine that errors might be understood. The first was when ordering a lunch sandwich, it was ordered with no pickle with the sandwich. This had been ordered in the past and there was still a pickle put in the container which led to pickle juice all over everything. Second time, different employee, please no pickle, not even on the side. The order still came with a pickle. The most recent time an egg sandwich can was ordered. The eggs were ordered fully cooked. Unfortunately when opening the sandwich the yolk was not fully cooked but yet dripping in some spots and gooey in others. It's frustrating that the order can never be right. I understand price increases and everything, and I don't mind paying for an order if it's correct. The staff looked like mostly teenagers to early 20's. Basic customer interactions with the staff, and customers. I ordered a dozen bagels and the prices are close to most places. Unfortunately even with multiple types of bagels in my bag, the texture of them is almost like white bread. Way too soft of a texture on the plain, salt, everything, French toast, and the flaggel. I'll stick with the Miller Place Bagel and Deli. A bagel is supposed to have at least a mild crunch or crispness to the outside. This was way too soft. We recently moved to Bohemia and heard good things about Strathmore. We went today and were confused about the way you order due to covid. The way you order are by calling a number or waking to the front and placing the order in person but you can't go inside. They have a couple of tables outside to eat which is nice but you can't use their bathroom. The tables don't have hand sanitizer on them as well. I ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with assorted veggies and yellow mustard. I wish they offered a dairy free cream cheese. I also inquired about their horseradish mustard if it was vegan and they didn't know the answer. Overall really good bagels but give yourself extra time when you go there it is very busy. Strathmore hit it out of the park with their gluten free bagel. I got a plain one with butter to give just the bagel a fair shot and a BEC on an everything bagel. Both were absolutely delicious. I've missed bagel store BECs so much. Best part was no gluten reaction afterwards, so they followed good cross contamination prevention policies too. For me the issues is not the wait or the food, They typically have plenty of staff and i have never complained about the food with the exception that they don't seem to knwo how to melt cheese on egg sandwiches. We are a year, OVER a year into the pandemic, vaccinations have been administered etc. They are continuing to FORCE their customers to wear masks but the owner was allowed to go in the back of their kitchen with her mask down? Great bagels !!!!New York bagels like they used to be. Staff was great. Walked in and one of the guys behind the counter asked me how I was doing and what I wanted right away. Took my order and got it right. Made some small talk and I paid and was on my way in less than 10 minutes. Had an everything bagel and poppy seed bagels with cream cheese. Not stingy with the cream cheese but not just slathered on either. Cut in half and wrapped to go. Time and time again I have ordered breakfast from here. Each time the order is perfect. They never forget anything. They have never messed up anything. The food is delicious. The eggs are so fresh, always cooked to order perfectly. Really great crunchy fresh veggies for a scramble and yummy gooey cheese. Sometime I'll order a breakfast burrito with some hot sauce, peppers and onions, so good! Don't forget the avocado! And the bagels (drool) are one of the best on the island. My go to order is a toasted egg everything with butter. I like the Strathmore bagels because it's so soft inside, crusty outside and generous seeds. I hate when a bagel is too soggy, or chewy and no seeds. Like that's not how we do it on Long Island! I can also highly recommend their muffins, I love a nice warmed muffin and coffee in bed. This place used to be amazing. The last two times I ordered from them the bagels we're not really bagels at all. It was more like a role. If you live on Long Island you know what a bagel is like. You know that a bagel is a bit tougher than bread and harder to bite. The last two times I got sesame bagels there it was just like eating a piece of white bread. To think... this place used to be where it's at for Bagels & Bialys. Now.. meh not so much. Yesterday went and got a flagel and brought home a couple of bialys. I have to say my love for Strathmore has came and gone. I used to love when my mom said to me when I was a kid "let's take a ride to Strathmore..." I knew I was always in for a treat because I used to love their egg bagels and their bialys. Put it this way.. my aunt from Nassau used to come out here and want Bialys from Strathmore! Now ughhhghhg.. WHY?! What the heck happened Strathmore?! Flagel was an everything that just lacked the punch of all the flavors of an everything flagel. Bialy tasted like an enlarged bialy with bagel consistency and just chewy and overall doughy. I know I love a good bagel once in a while with the doughy but when I want a bialy... I WANT A BIALY! You know the light fluffy disk thing? Yeah.. not some enlarged disk that I felt like I was a cow chewing on this morning. I don't know man.. I just don't know... maybe I'll be back but for now I think I'll stick to Nesconset Bagel Café. Besides.. its 5 minutes from my house and much better than Strathmore at the present time. read more

TERRIBLE service and unprofessional. This was my first time trying this place with my coworkers, and the last time. We had our food delivered and all of our orders were completely wrong. This happens, nobody's perfect.. it was the reaction from the staff that caught me off guard. I was was really looking forward to my order: The chicken caprese on a WRAP.. instead I received grilled chicken with peppers and tomatoes on a ciabatta ROLL. I also ordered an iced tea and got pink lemonade instead. When calling to let them know about their mess up .. a lady answered and instead of rectifying the issue, she was so quick to point the blame at us. The lady was EXTREMELY rude she showed no remorse, defended the employee who placed our order. At one point we heard them arguing over us. A decent bagel place in what appears to be the middle of nowhere. We were hungry after shopping nearby and this appeared to be the only thing open. Granted we arrived at 1:30 and they close at 2 on Saturdays but they allowed us to sit and finish our meal. The staff is friendly but a bit scattered. Too many people taking orders, too many people running the register, and an employee who couldn't for the life of him figure out the soda bottles in the fridge. We ended up getting a turkey BLT on a bialy with a soda. 2 sandwiches and 2 sodas for $20...Not really a steal, especially considering where they're located. The sandwiches were just okay. The bialys were delicious but the bacon and turkey were mediocre, at best. The side of macaroni salad was the real winner here. After they locked the door, the employees had a good system for getting everything closed up for the day. When we went to leave, soda boy refused to help us unlock the door, however, another employee was more than helpful in doing so. Strathmore bagels is not bad. . . They have a nice dine-in section of the store apart from the crowds, and is cleaner/ nicer than most bagel places, featuring a television, accent lighting and a salt water fishtank. Bagel wise, they come in at about 4.5 inches (I'm good for two of them), and the everythings do have salt on them, but Strathmore hasn't been the same since they stopped carrying "garlic & herb" cream cheese (reportedly due to not enough demand). You'd think they could just make a smaller amount for the depraved animals who need the rawest, most pungent sh#t to kick off the day. Besides the ability to ward off evil, garlic has many health benefits and is my favorite breakfast flavor. Until they bring it back, I go with the olive. They carry Dirrty potato chips and andy capp hot fries. read more
