We have been to this straw hat pizza on multiple occasions for large parties. This was the worst experience we have had here. We preordered our pizza 40 min prior to dine in. When arrived, they didn't have our order ready. After 20 min of waiting, they still had not placed the order. I then asked for a refund, as all 6 kids were melting down. The owner did not want to refund me, offered me something free. Luckily i was finally refunded. The young lady at the counter needs a raise and the owner needs to figure out how to run a business off site. I won't return here again. Two stars for the girl at the counter read more

Omg! I was in town for the weekend from LA visiting my Bf who was here for a month for work and I was stuck at the hotel. So I decided to get pizza because they off delivery service. I went back and forth between this place and another local pizza place. I decided to go with this place. OMG BECKY!!!! I'm glad I did. One of the best pizza's I've had. I never had white sauce nor zucchini on a pizza but was opened minded and it worked out. It arrived HOT and the crust was thin and crispy. My pizza was loaded with chicken, zucchini and red onions. HEAVEN The thin crust kind of reminds of Chicos pizza in LA. This was my first ever eating from any Straw Hat Pizza and if I come across them again I will definitely eat here again. I will have to see if we have some in LA or if it's a northern Cali thing. read more

We ordered the chicken garlicky pizza. It had no cheese just sauce and the toppings. The center of the dough was raw. Way undercooked. The crust was extremely thin. We paid almost $60 drinks included.I told the manager and showed him a raw slice. He said those pizzas aren't supposed to have cheese. Go somewhere else. I don't think that Straw Hat gets nearly enough credit... I order the all meat pizza with white sauce instead of red and the chicken wings. First of all, those were the best wings I have had in a long time!!! The pizza came super quick and was super fresh and delicious. Our #1 go to pizza in Hollister for sure!! read more

My wife and I flew into San Francisco and drove to Holister to stay the night on our way to Pinnacles. We asked our hotel desk where to get the best pizza. He suggested Straw Hat as it was "very good and close to boot". It's not the most glamorous facility but their pizza is scrumptious.we got the Works and added onion and pineapple. There was a plethora of toppings that tasted very fresh. As we were waiting for our pizza, the staff was very attentive to us and made us feel.like they wanted us there. I would highly suggest taking the time to get a pizza from straw hat if you are in Holister. read more

I decided to order a cauliflower crust pizza with vegan cheese (dairy allergy), I was a little apprehensive due to trying other similar pizzas and didn't have too high of an expectation but wow was this pizza delicious. One of the best pizzas I have ever had, I was only supposed to have two slices and kept going for more, it was so good. This place will mess up your order and when you call them back to tell them it was wrong they wanted me to return the pizza for a new one. I have a hungry family and I am the only one who can't eat white sauce. I expected them to send me a pizza with white sauce. A small one or whatever. Now I have to go hungry. They guy was rude and tried to tell me he didn't hear me say white sauce. I made sure he heard me. And when he repeated the request back to me I felt like he would have gotten it right. Got denied service here today due to birthday parties, even though there were non-party customers. Was essentially told "the party said they were ok but no more." Went to Mountain Mikes and was served. Parties are understandable, especially on weekends, but to be turned away like this is unacceptable. I'm a customer too, but not here anymore. Also, be advised Saturday and Sunday the owner has no control over the kids. They allow kid chaos at these parties and do not hold the parents responsible to respect the other customers. This review is for the buffet on a Thursday afternoon about 1:30pm. We had a buy one get one free buffet so we decided to give it a try. Place was nice as was the staff but there were only two dried out pizza's on the hot server. They did assure me that more was coming out. They did put out half a pepperoni, half a combo and half of a pinapple/Canadian bacon pizza. They also put out some garlic bread. Not alot to chose from but there were only one other person in there eating so I can see why they were not putting out much but.... Salad bar was simple but fresh and very good. Pizza was ok. Nothing great but not bad. Place was clean and I think the food would have been better if we went at a more popular time slot. Buffet was 8.99 per person for all you can eat pizza, salad and drink. I've never had a carry out order mixed up or messed up. It's always right. Once they gave us free breadsticks, probably for a promotion. They're always courteous and and always repeat the order back to me. I have had no issues with this Straw Hat Pizza location. I've tried the cauliflower crust and it's pretty good. After driving by the place time and time again I finally decided to give Straw Hat a shot. I tried it out 2 years ago, when I first moved into town, and delivery took forever and the pizza was decent at best. But it's changed now, most likely due to the new ownership. So I ordered a king size pizza, some wings and bread sticks and let me tell you.. it was great! The wings are killer and their mango habanero sauce is spot on. Their pizza also has a good amount of toppings, not over done or too little to where you can see mostly cheese. Best part of the whole experience was the customer service. Everyone there was friendly as heck and ready to assist in whatever aspect of my dinning there. This is definitely my new pizza joint, great food, awesome employees and is fairly priced. UPDATE 06-28-2016 Late lunch. Lots of tables available. Buffet still available. Pacifico, Tecate, coors, budweiser, newcastle, 805 on tap. Update: Sept 16, 2014 THEY HAVE WIFI NOW!! Eight beers on draft with a mix of domestic and import. Current selection is Budweiser, bud light, pacifico, coors light, new castle, shock top, modello, and 805. Buffet is pretty good with a nice selection of pizzas. Salad bar is good as well. Lots of choices. Includes breadsticks and cheese sticks. Pretty good arcade for the kids or the kid in you (and me LOL) I was shocked to see the previous reviews. I have been coming here for awhile. No problems yet. 1 star deduction is for buffet. Wish they had buffet and buffet no salad no soda. I don't like soda so paying not to drink it is lame when purchasing buffet. Take a couple bucks off and keep the salad and soda. Fairly clean. Restrooms stocked. Lots of parking. NO WIFI. Many big screens! Watch your game here! I will be back. read more

Straw Hat pizza in Hollister drew me back recently from the throngs of 'Take and Burn" pizza with a "New Management "sign and a 1/2 price pizza night! I ordered a large pizza called the "The Works" and when I opened the lid, lied the most fresh looking pizza i had seen in quite sometime!!! Then came the aroma, and finally....the Taste!!!! Stay away from this place. I ordered pizzas and drinks for my employees dinner, I asked for plates, cups, cheese and pepper too; after 1 hour and 5 minutes I decided to call back to this place to ask for my order and some Arabian guy no too friendly said "is been only fourrrty thrrre minutes, the drrriverrr is on the way ", the delivery guy showed up 1 hour and 15 minutes after I put the order and guess what... with the wrong order!!!! He when back to pick up the right one and after 10 minutes another delivery showed up with my pizza and my soda, no plates, no cups, no chess, no pepper and of course,,, the pizza was cold!!! Total waiting time: 1.5 hours Food: Cold and no quality at all. Service: Rude Price: Expensive!! $34 for a large pizza and a 2liter soda! Don't even try this place!!! STAY AWAY!!!! read more

I am basing this review on the entire experience, not just the food. The only thing that was good was the pizza. It wasn't the best, wasn't the worst, just right down the middle. The problem was the other people in the restaurant. There was a birthday party or a quinceanera or something going on over in the large section to the left. And the game was on. The one where Manning beat Farve's TD record. Much too drunk and much too loud. We couldn't sit in the middle section because all the available tables were dirty. So we were forced to sit in the game area. Prior to sitting down, I was almost mowed down by some fatty at the salad bar. Ironic, huh? It probably wouldn't have been that bad, but these unruly, sticky ass, nasty kids thought this was a damn playground. I don't care if it's got a few arcade games, it's still a restaurant. These parents were horrible. Not once did they keep their kids in line or check on them. One kid ate shit running around and hurt his leg. He was on the floor crying. No parent came to check on him. I then told the guy at the counter we wanted to change our order to go, and told him why. He acted like he didn't really care about the craziness in his restaurant. Then again, I am not spending hundreds of dollars on pizza for a party. But, unlike the patrons at the birthday party, I Yelp. Oh, and after I ordered, I went to the bathroom to wash up. No paper towels. No, they weren't out, they don't offer them. They do have an electric hand dryer though. Too bad it didn't work. Pizza is pretty much pizza. WOW, sometimes good service and sometimes very bad. I had a phone order for delivery , she stated 45-60 minutes . Well after 1 hr I called to see what's going on. Well they said,my wife called back and canceled the order. Wrong she never called them to cancel which I tried to explain to them but they said we did. Now I m confused with him and I'm now arguing with him. All he had to do was say sorry sir we will deliver your pizza ASAP and for the inconvenience no charge or free pizza next time. But no he said no free pizza, you still want it? I ask for manager but he said no manager on duty. Crazy if you ask me, not a way to do business . Customer service is terrible... I called to order a pizza for pickup. Some guy answered the phone and wasn't professional at all. Sounded like he did not want to be there. I immediately told them I had a coupon for buy BOGO FREE. I ordered the veggie for my first and asked if I could be the same on my second but I needed to make it gluten free. Oh, it only comes in a small if its gluten free... Ok... well I have a coupon for a master size pizza so can i just get two smalls? He needed to go ask the manager. Didn't feel like cooking so ordered tortellini with marinara and the bacon and cheese bread twists.. when my order arrived the tortellini was still extremely cold like they just took it out of the fridge and threw it in the oven for 2 min. The cheese on top wasn't even melted. And the bread twists were a joke. Literally just twisted bread with a couple bacon crumbles. Super disappointed. Good pizza better then slot of other straw hats has a crispy crust 5 starts comes from the taste of the pizza and the friendly staff they hire there. It don't come from the presentation of the inside lol or the not so always fresh salad bar lol or the unwelcome look on the owners face who is continently there walking around starting at people put the pizza here is a winner. read more
