Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was very busy. The waitlist was an hour long for 7 people. The restaurant feels and looks like it is someone's house. When we finally got seated, our waiter was very nice and recommended me to get the chicken marinara. I ordered the chicken marinara and I was not disappointed. It was the best chicken marinara I ever had in my life. The fried chicken breast was cooked to perfection making every bite juicy. Was visiting Jackson and found this quaint little place. I ordered the shrimp poboy, gulf shrimp and cheesy bread. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. It was closed for dine in because of the distancing restrictions but the food was ready for pick up in a timely manner. The only thing I would recommend is to toast the poboy bread. This place was so unassuming with good food, a solid 4 stars. The service: We came in on the Sunday before Valentine's Day with a party of 5 for brunch. The wait was estimated to be 45 mins to an hour. We opted to wait. There were plenty of benches inside and outside. The hostess was kind and offered us drinks during our wait. We were seated in about 30 mins - a win! Our waiter was Sloan. He was awesome. Patient, kind, knew the menu well, and we never wanted for anything. The food: but this is where my stars come from. We were gluttonous and ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, crab cake, and fried green tomatoes for the appetizers. All of them were good. The spinach and artichoke dip was a big favorite and the chips were so unique and crunchy. My family loved the fried green tomatoes. The crab cake needed the remoulade with the old bay, but was big and full of crab. I had the french toast - it was so tasty. A little softer than I like, but the taste was good. It came with bacon and fresh fruit - all good. I got a side of grits. I added a little salt, but the taste and texture were soooo good. My sister got the shrimp and grits, she did not feel it was as seasoned as she desired. My cousin got the crab cake sandwich, which she really liked with onion rings. It was a large serving, again, lots of crab in the crab cake, and the onion rings were tasty. My mom had the dining car - pretty standard, which she liked. And my other cousin had the Egg Sardou. It was rich but she liked it. She commented that she only wished it came with an English muffin. We were stuffed but had to taste the cheesecake. It was DELICIOUS. Nice and light with a chocolate crust and a tasty strawberry syrup and fresh strawberries - a must try. *I would definitely come back if I am in the area. read more

Love Strawberry Cafe - food, atmosphere and service! Always a favorite of ours. Fish is delicious!

Easily the most bizarre and uncomfortable dining experience I've had. Our team (nine people) came in on a Tuesday evening while traveling for work. Conscious of the fact that restaurants are short-staffed, we made a 7 p.m. reservation two weeks in advance. We knew they were aware that we were coming in because they called us that afternoon to confirm. When we arrived, they seated us promptly in a separate room (which worked well for us because it gave us a chance to talk as a group). We didn't see anyone else in the restaurant, but there were several staff at the host stand so it didn't seem like there was a staffing issue. Our server (I missed her name but my receipt says Darissia) seemed pleasant and conversational. All was well. I'm not sure where the turning point was. Maybe when we told her up front we'd need separate checks (per our company's expense policy), or maybe when we said we were going to wait to order until our last person arrived (ten minutes later, at most). I just know that at some point, things went sour quick. It started off with some very upset facial expressions when she didn't understand what item was being ordered. Then it was annoyance over multiple trips back to the table to confirm various elements of random people's order. To be clear, no one asked for substitutions (so I'm still unsure how that was our fault). Someone ordered a starter and she asked "what side do you want?" They clarified they just wanted the starter, not an entree, and she insisted it came with fries. When the starter arrived without fries, and they asked about them, she looked confused as though fries weren't an option. As food arrived, it got visibly uncomfortable. She would impatiently ask "who ordered XYZ" when, in fact, no one did and she realized she rang the wrong item in. Food was put in front of the wrong people and as we quietly passed them to the correct person, she made no attempt to hide her irritation. Two plates went back to the kitchen (including a $32 filet of beef) because they were undercooked (rare/borderline raw) or over-salted. It became so tense that several of us were willing to ignore it just to not add fuel to the fire. When the checks came, several were incorrect (though in our favor). We tried to bring it to her attention in an attempt to get back in her good graces but we were just waived off. It became obvious she just wanted us out of there, and I don't think you would have heard any of us protest. As she was clearing plates, she dropped a plate on the floor. No big deal, accidents happen. She swept it up, but didn't take into account the oil, so on her next trip, she slipped and fell to the ground with a giant yell. Admittedly we felt awful, despite her rude attitude towards us all evening, and asked if she was okay. She didn't acknowledge it at all (can't blame her...I'm sure she was embarrassed) but it was so incredibly tense that our entire party of nine got up and left without saying a word. Maybe she was having a hard time with the kitchen. Maybe she got some bad news in between trips to our table. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not convinced I'll give this place another shot. You shouldn't have to feel like you're walking on eggshells while you dine out. read more

We're from out of town and the food was good and the area is extremely nice but I asked the waitress for a side of rice (which we gladly paid for) because my food was too saucy for me personally and after that our waitress's had a terrible attitude. She barely looked us in the eyes or spoke after that. I'm not sure if the rice was the problem but something happened about half way through and it was a super uncomfortable meal after that. I'm traveling back home to Austin and found this place on yelp. The food was great. We ate here for Saturday brunch and had shrimp creole, shrimp étouffée and tomato basil soup. It was delicious, especially the buttery biscuits with the honey butter. It took longer for me to order than for my food to come out. I was happy. Truth be told, the real MVP was our waitress, Cayla. She's what gave our dining experience a 5 star. She gave us direct eye contact and offered a huge smile that complimented her sparking eyes. She kept our drinks full and exceeded our expectations.
