Well... the woman that helped us was not exactly friendly. While she was taking our order, there were two more employees sitting in the back on their phones while others waited in line to order, and for their food. Not a good look. When my daughter opened her chocolate covered strawberries, there was hair on them. Again, not a good look. They did replace the chocolate covered strawberries, but by then you've got it in your head that their not to concerned with cleanliness. My wife had a strawberry shake which we both thought was very good so thats a positive. So, not a great experience overall. They recently opened, mid-June, a great addition to downtown Carlsbad. Cute walk-up storefront, order at the window and they serve your order at another window. They offer a whole variety of strawberry desserts, and they are all delicious. We tried the strawberry dole whip, chocolate-covered strawberries, and the strawberry shake. We loved it all. They have strawberry shortcake, homemade chocolate covered marshmallows, strawberry pudding, strawberry custard, and strawberry sundaes as well. We have actually been trying their strawberry desserts for years. They used to be over by the flower fields in Carlsbad, but just a popup booth during flower season. Not a bad stop if you're looking for a quick light dessert to go. Fast service: everything is made ahead of time so they're just assembling it. This shortcake is made with a light angel food cake but ours came out looking flattened. The strawberries on the side were juicy and plentiful. Our whipped cream looked like it came out from the bottom of a can of whipped cream- a little wet and drippy. There seems to only be two standing bars at which to eat your dessert. If the Starbucks next door is closed, you could probably sit down at those seats/tables. This isn't a sit down place though- it's a stand. I'm not thrilled with the price for the dessert we got. $7 for flattened angel food cake and a drippy looking whipped cream topping with a nice amount of sliced strawberries. We also got their strawberry cheesecake, which was better because it wasn't flattened , but again with the wet whipped cream. Cheesecake was on the grainy side, maybe from the grocery store? Meh. So refreshing, great strawberry flavor and it was everything I wanted and more. It was only about $5 or $6 which is kinda a lot but not unheard of. Parking is a little tricky because the lot on the side next to Starbucks is pretty small but we got lucky and were able to easily find parking. OMG. May husband and I had the shortcake and the strawberry shack shake. The shortcake was just like they described. "Heaven in a Bowl" After speaking with the owner he explained that his homemade Angel food cake recipe that's made fresh daily from a local bakery that they contract with. The fresh strawberries and the homemade whipped cream made it the best strawberry shortcake I've ever had. My husband's shake was rich and creamy and it's made with vanilla custard and fresh strawberries. They accent the side of the cup with strawberry syrup which gave a nice touch and boba strawberry pearls. I would definitely recommend this place. Very interesting experience... Around 7:30 PM, me and my wife showed up to experience this popular spot in Carlsbad but didn't exactly receive the experience we were expecting. First we ordered one strawberry shortcake, strawberry Shake and some of the Chex mix they had. The man helping us seemed to just be staring us down. We thought hmmm ok it's most likely because it's late or something in that realm. He then proceeded to call out our order of the strawberry shortcake. We received the order and then waited for the rest of our order. The worker then proceeded to stand in front of the register and look directly at us. We decided to give it a few minutes and then let him know we haven't received the rest of our order and he just continued to stare at us. A couple seconds later he would go back and make the shake. The most interesting part is that there was a whole family still waiting for their order, he as well forgot about there as well. As we were all standing in front of him. He then went back to prepare the other families order and then ours. As he gave me my shake, he slurred some words and honestly I felt nervous for him. The shake tasted terrible and was even nervous that he might have put something in it. I don't usually post these reviews but it is concerning and hope someone checks on him. read more

Strawberry milkshakes are my guilty pleasure. I ordered a strawberry shake thinking it has to be delicious. All they do is strawberries, right??? Unfortunately, it was probably the worst strawberry shake I've ever tasted. First, it tasted like a strawberry additive was in it or some type of processed flavor. They have some cool dessert ideas but the two desserts we chose to try weren't all that great. We tried the strawberry shortcake and the strawberry tirimissiu. I feel the shortcake was definitely not worth the $6 or $7 and the tirimissiu wasn't even a tirimissiu it was just a strawberry cake. The idea of a strawberry tirimissiu sounded good though. I really think they need to work on the shortcake if they are going to charge so much for it. There should be fresh strawberries not just preserved ones. They also shouldn't call the dessert a tirimissiu if there's really no resemblance of it at all besides the cinnamon powder on top. I feel that we just picked the wrong desserts to try because our friend had the cheesecake and a milkshake and they looked really good. Other than that, the place is really neat and interesting. They only have 2 tables for you to stand on the sidewalk and enjoy your dessert. I would come back to give them another chance and try their frozen desserts and their cheesecake. If your in the mood for strawberries come and check them out. I would skip the shortcake and tirimissiu though. read more

I loved my dole whip, it was extremely refreshing and the vanilla custard was the perfect addition. My friends enjoyed the strawberry shortcakes, but wished there was more of the shortcake. The service is super quick, despite having two workers, after I ordered, my food was brought out. It was a little crowded when I got there, but it died down eventually. Got there at 8pm on Friday night and there was only 8 people in line. Every item was so good there was nothing left! No seating. Literally a shack with some table outside. The Starbucks next door closes at 6pm so a lot of people were using their chairs and tables to enjoy their treats. Very busy area so hard to find parking both in the lots and the streets. Just need to be patient and hope someone leaves. At 8:30pm the line had grown and was about 25 people deep.
