Me and a friend did the East Village Bar tour this past weekend. It was a very mild night and we enjoyed walking around to all of the sites. We arrived at the first location and of course asked for help from some of the staff. They were unable to assist so we ended up talking to Brian the manager. He advised (after all attempts ) that the answer provided was incorrect and that the bar no longer served what the answer said was the correct answer. Bummer... and has a little leary about how this was going to go. We continued on to several of the other sites that were fine. .Until we got to one location that was so small and so packed we couldn't get in the door. We ended up going to the sister restaurant on the corner( thanks to an employee that was standing out of the location ) to get a drink. Mother of Pearl was great and also had the bar tender who worked at the correct location was covering for a sick employee at the right restaurant. He helped us with one of the questions and actually brought us a menu from the bar that held the answer. . Again....wrong.. He has worked here for years and knew exactly where to look. Your answer was incorrect. Not ours. All in all the overall concept was great and got us out and about to explore places we have never been . I just think someone needs to do their homework and make corrections to make the game more fun. We were striving to get a perfect score. read more

New York is a city with soooo much culture and history, but as a young professional 20-something, I all-too-often get sidetracked into dining and partying during my free time. Last Saturday, since I had a friend coming into town to visit, I figured I'd actively seek out a dose of culture and excitement. We thought to ourselves "how bout a scavenger hunt?", and Googled accordingly, and came across New York: The Game. We figured we'd make an afternoon out of it--that way, if it wasn't fun, we'd still be able to go out and party at night(!). Well, The Game exceeded all of our expectations. We chose to play the Flatiron District game. We learned a ton of clever little tidbits about the area, created a few silly memories, and had one of the best sober afternoons ever. I'm really happy I went out on a limb and played this unique game, and look forward to getting a couple more Manhattan areas in before the weather gets too cold!! read more

I did the Greenwich Village scavenger hunt with my 14-year-old twin grandchildren (one boy, one girl). They are from out of town but I've lived in New York for over 40 years and we all had a wonderful time. I loved the idea of learning new little "factoids" about places I've known -- or even walked by -- for years. It was also a great way to get a little exercise on a beautiful afternoon. And who knew there were so many lovely little gardens tucked away in the Village? Of course, the kids loved managing the whole thing on their cellphone (and I, of course, was delighted to have them do it). All in all, I would recommend this adventure to folks of any age! And I look forward to exploring other zones soon. read more

Fantastic. Our team consisted of two native New Yorkers and a friend from out of town. We had a wonderful time running around the flatiron district. This is a great activity for people who are looking for some adventure and fun around the city and who don't mind being on their feet for 2-3 hours. One note: Make sure the phone that you activate to play the game has a generous text messaging plan. I believe we sent and received a total of approximately 70 messages over the course of the game. New York: The Game is such a blast! After living in New York City year and a half I pride myself in knowing my boroughs pretty well. I have shown so many friends around and explored lots of hole-in-the-walls and obscure parks. All that to say, the Stray Boots China Town-Little Italy Scavenger Hunt took me to parks I had never even heard of, shops I would have unwittingly passed by, bakeries I would have missed out on and buildings I had glanced over a dozen times. I look forward to trying different New York hunts and finding Stray Boots adventures in different cities!! read more

New York the Game is such an awesome way to spend an afternoon! A very large group of us (approx. 55 people) all competed against one another in the Greenwich Village hunt. It was a team building exercise and even the most unenthused had a great time at the end! The group was made up of some native new yorkers and others that live in the surrounding boroughs, upstate, or New Jersey and each team was challenged and learned a lot. We were looking for a fun thing to do in NYC with our kids (mainly tweens). We live in NY and are always searching for a new activity other than the museums. We did the scavenger hunt in Union Square and loved it. We went with 2 other families and split up into 2 teams. The clues were interesting and we got to explore the neighborhood and learn new facts. It took us a couple of hours and everyone had a great time. Plus, the weather was beautiful. I highly recommend it. read more

We had a great time when we did the Village hunt. It was so much fun and you got to learn really cool info. I did this for my birthday with a group and we broke up into 3 teams and everyone had a blast. I highly recommend it. Such good fun, easy to sign up for and do. Great extra facts sent, and a fun way of seeing things in a different way. We did the museum of natural history, and it even considered where you could and couldn't get cell phone signal :o) can't wait to try out the other. Highly recommend it.
