These are the friendliest baristas in all of Seattle. They're warm, welcoming, and always have the best conversations with me. I want to especially call out Evie, Anna, and Miles. They always make my day! The coffee is great and they have some really unique drinks! I love that they make syrups in house. They get their pastries from Macrina, so you know those will be good. It's cozy and comfortable with great music playing. The tables are nice and big, perfect for working from. The wifi is fast, which is incredibly helpful. I'm not sure why I didn't find this little gem of a store after working in the area for six months when months later I am in bell town and it pops up on Yep. Why not. Would I come back? Since we had about an hour wait before breakfast, my friend and I decided to look for a coffee shop. Street Bean is a clean and quiet place where you can sit for a while and enjoy the warmth. Plus they have free wifi and outlets to recharge. I ordered the mocha which I thought was different from other places. It was light and did not have tons of chocolate powder like you would get at other places. My friend ordered the Americano which he said was burning hot. If you are looking to get out of the cold weather while waiting for your breakfast (Tilikum Place), I would recommend coming here. It's a smaller shop, but during my time there (12 pm - 4:45 pm) they didn't really get busy until about 4 or so. When I say busy, I mean other people came in to work and use tables/outlets. This coffee shop is one of the quietest I've been to. I'm very rarely the "loud person" at a quiet space like this, but I felt like THAT PERSON this time around because NOBODY else was talking and their music was very quiet. They've got free wifi that works pretty well, and lots of outlets. No complaints there! I ended up going with a Triple Vanilla Latte for my beverage and a Bagel Bacon Breakfast Sandwich to snack on when I first arrived. The coffee was tasty and perfectly made. It was served a little bit cooler than I would've liked but that's okay. The breakfast sandwich was... AMAZING. I've never had a bacon breakfast sandwich where the bacon was SO perfectly crispy. I'm a huge fan. Street parking isn't hard to come by right outside of the shop which is nice - four hours max. Definitely a good place to meet up or work. Solid recommendation from me! read more

Great coffee. Great people. Great mission. Stopped by this morning since my neighborhood go to was busier than usual and Street Bean was on my way to work. As soon as I walked into the store, I was greeted by the barista and she started on my drink right away. The space was open, light with lots of windows, and relatively busy with others starting their mornings. I got an 8oz caramel latte (my go to) which was buttery and smooth. The roast is slightly too acidic for my preference, but I think at this point it is really up to personal taste. What is super cool about the company is that they make their business about giving back to the local homeless community through all proceeds AND by providing job training and jobs for homeless youth. Wow, just wow. I've had my fair share of supporting local coffee shops and I stand by supporting them for this very reason. Not only does Street Bean Coffee make an awesome cup of joe, they also have an amazing mission for their shop. They are a non-profit coffee shop that takes in street-involved young adults to help change their lives around. I asked one of the girls and she also mentioned that not only do they provide jobs, they also provide housing. The shop is really cute! Huge window panes that let in a lot of natural light, wood tables, great lighting, comfy chairs, and pretty much everything you would want in a coffee shop. The baristas are friendly as well--if I wasn't told that a lot of those working were from the streets, I wouldn't have known. I ordered a vanilla latte with non-fat milk and a ham and cheese croissant. My vanilla latte was delicious; just the right amount of espresso and milk. The latte art was precious--he tried to do a heart. Now, the ham and cheese croissant. I don't cannot even describe how delicious this croissant was. The ham was rich and flavorful and the cheese was soft and just melts in your mouth. The texture of the croissant was baked to perfection. It was light and flaky. I consider Street Been Espresso one of my favorite finds this trip. It's a non profit manned by staff with a little troubled past. You wouldn't know it based on the peaceful setting it imparts. Here the staff are given a chance to improve their lives and learn life skills and get off the streets and homelessness. It's sparse but tastefully decorated. Visiting from out of town, I wanted to try out coffee from local roasters. SBCR had 3 different beans, most appeared to be light to medium roasts. Coffee was excellently made. I come to the Belltown area at least once a year for work and I love stopping in this coffee shop in the morning. Ever since I started coming, a handful of years ago, they've been so consistently friendly, and the coffee is always great (and strong!). I generally only drink cold brew and I love their cold brew - which really has to be the foundation piece of any good coffee shop that I'm going to review. The things that really push this place over the edge for me are the atmosphere and the service. It's a small little store but there are a decent amount of seats. The vibe is fresh but not overdone, tons of natural lighting and I think, for me, it's super great because it's in a really convenient area. Which makes stopping in for a coffee super simple. Also, every. single. time. I stop in anyone that's working here is super friendly and helpful! I think they just know how to hire the right people when it comes to customer service. When I'm in town working, and especially stopping in super early in the morning, it helps to have a really friendly person to interact with! I also love that they have a bigger mission of "providing opportunity for street involved young people to reclaim their lives..." - worth supporting! Consistently my favorite coffee house, Street Bean is a shop with a heart and great coffee too. The baristas are always friendly, even when they're busy and I bring in my brood who seem to each decide (last-minute) that they want to change their whole orders... Get my beans here for home brewing, also. The Belltown Blend is consistently smooth and flavorful--I believe that's the blend they use for in-house coffee as well. (With many other brands, the coffee is too strong or too bitter and I feel the need to get a syrup to cut some of that. None of Street Bean's beans--to me--need any added sweetener or flavoring. So pleased with that!) I also enjoy regularly working from here, although it can get quite busy and a little noisy (to be expected), it's a bright, cozy place to bring your work to. My only gripe is that the tables are natural so they bow/dip/aren't perfectly flat--just be careful with a cup next to technology. I'll update if anything changes, but I've been coming here at least once per week for 6-8 months now and I've enjoyed every cup, every visit, and each encountered employee's attitude and demeanor. Of all the cafes I visited in Seattle, this was my fave. Clean, spacious & laptop-friendly, it's an ideal spot to crank out some work with glitch-free wifi, plenty of tables, modern furniture (no hodgepodge chairs or worn couches to be found), and a mellow vibe that feels a bit off the beaten path, like a secret office with endless espresso. At 9am, the place was nearly empty. At 10:30, it was full of laptop loafers. But, they can accommodate the crowd with plenty of seating & outlets galore. Funny enough, Nirvana was playing on the stereo. My first thought was...hmmm, isn't this a bit cliché? Turns out every cafe in town was playing Nirvana that week. It was the anniversary of Mr. Cobain's passing. So, on the normal day, the soundtrack would perhaps be more upbeat. Pastries are provided by some infamous Seattle brands: Macrina, Mighty-O donuts, and Le Panier. I also spotted some packaged salads in the fridge, for lunchtime visits. They not only concoct great espressos but do so with an attitude that makes your cafe experience just blissful.
