I've been coming to this food truck for over 5 years and it never disappoints. If anything it just gets better and better as they grow. Everything is always fresh and high quality from the buns to the bowls! If they are ever in your area I definitely recommend! Also the service is always helpful and accommodating.

We honestly just happened to be driving down Clayton Rd one day and noticed this food truck in front of Staples. My husband LOVES steamed buns and we were looking for a bite to eat, so the truck caught his eye. We ordered 2 bulgogi beef bao ($8 each) and 2 chicken katsu bao ($7). Okay.. These buns are super yummy! My biggest regret is that we didn't get more. The bao bun itself is SO soft and pillowy. You can taste that the meats are marinated and the accompaniments of pickled cucumber and ginger create a nice balance of flavor. I enjoyed both but the chicken katsu one felt a little heartier. The bulgogi beef was flavorful- I just wish there was more of it. The beef was more in bits. I'm glad we were able to try this food truck. There's not a lot (if any) steamed buns spots in the area and they are crushing it.

Oh my goooodness. What else can I say but that you will INHALE these bao buns like they are straight air that keeps you alive. While I have followed street steam bunz on their Instagram for probably a year, tonight was my first opportunity to FINALLY try them...ooooh boy am I not disappointed. Honestly I'm probably hooked. No complaints about that lol. I had the pork belly bao and the beef bulgogi bao. Both absolutely incredible. The bun itself is so soft and fluffy that you squeeze it and it bounces right back to hold its shape. The sauces are legit and the pickled cucumbers are perfect. I'm still licking my fingers clean....don't judge they were clean before I started eating. Both meats were perfectly cooked. No fatty pork belly, you bite right thru it so every bite left still has meat. The bulgogi had amazing flavor and a nice crisp to the edges, just the way I like it. I finally ran into street steam bunz at epidemics ales brewery in concord but if you follow their IG you will see that the frequent Bills ACE hardware in martinez and lately the staples in concord on Clayton rd. I will probably hunt them down now as I cannot wait until my next fix! Please give then a follow, find them out and about, Eat their bao or rice bowls and sell them out! The quality and taste is worth it.

Great food. But the bun itself is inedible.

5 stars for the rice plates. The pork belly was delicious. 2 stars for the street steam bunz that they're named after. The bao was such a huge disappointment. My daughter loves bao and we even ordered 2 plain on the side, because she'll straight destroy bao, it's one of her favorites. She took one bite and said, "oh no!" I tried it after and had to agree with my 5yo. I ate the meat out of my order and just shared the rice with my wife's plate. Love that the truck came out to the soccer games. My son really liked the fries. Wish they had a non soda option for drinks , but it is what it is. Highly recommend the rice plate... and maybe a name change (if not... change the recipe on your bao

A truly amazing food truck. I haven't had anything from here that I have disliked. The bulgogi and chicken katsu buns are amazing. They are balanced and well seasoned. The pork belly over rice is my favorite item they make. I love the flavor of the sauce and the fatty pork mixed together. The service is good and usually it doesn't take to long to get your order. Hopefully they can open up a brick and mortar store someday!

They are always so friendly and helpful with any questions. The food comes out quickly even if there is a bit of a line. And the food is always delicious! The pork belly and chicken katsu are my favorites. Pork belly is so tender and juicy and the katsu is never dry but always perfectly crispy!! The bao is always so fluffy

    Pork Belly Bao Sooooooo good!

Oh my gosh! I felt like a stalker tracking down this food truck but it was sooo worth it!! They have the best pork belly steam buns ever!! I wish I had a photo to share with you but the second I opened and saw how amazing they looked, it was gone! One bite and you won't put it down! So delicious! I hope they return to Martinez but honestly I'm about to drive to wherever they are because they were so good!! ETA - yessss! They came back to Martinez and this time I took a photo for you!! These are soooo good! I'm hooked for sure! anytime they are in Martinez I know what I'll be having!

Gotta call them out on it.... their mac salad is Reser's brand mac salad. Like don't even try to make excuses for it Street Steam Bunz. Y'all literally just added some sesame seeds on top of store bought mac salad... come on. AND the man behind the grill inside the truck MAKING OUR FOOD was NOT wearing a mask.

Finally got to get my taste of these buns at their Saturday post in downtown Lafayette in Saturdays. No line and pretty quick turnaround. I ordered the trifecta of buns which are Katsu chicken, pork belly and beef. Each is $7 and a decent size to share. My favorite was the chicken. Because the chicken is brined, the meat is juicy and tender. The beef was good but I didn't dig all the bits. Next time I try a bowl. Always support the local businesses. I can see using them to cater an event because it's unique and tasty!

I hired Street Steam Bunz to cater lunch at our office for 100 people and they were AMAZING. From the very start, they were awesome and so easy to work with. During scheduling, they were super quick with communication and I was able to get everything booked and squared away within a few hours. The day of, they arrived on time and were able to efficiently get 100 people served during our 1 hour lunchbreak. Their truck was well maintained, clean and provided it's own power. I ordered the rice bowl with chicken katsu and it was BOMB. The portions are definitely enough to fill up even someone with a big appetite and for me, I was able to bring half home to munch on later :) The food was fresh, delicious and you could tell they truly care about what they're serving up. I had so many people coming to my office to tell me how much they enjoyed the dishes they tried. It was my first time trying this truck and I would definitely recommend them for catering and for sure if you see them out and about, give them a try! BIG thank you to Street Steam Bunz for an awesome experience from start to finish!

I have been following this food truck on Instagram forever and I have never been able to be at the right place at the right time, and yesterday I finally got to try the BEST baos' ever!! I got 1 of each of the Baos out of just pure excitement to try what I've seen photos of for months now(Though their bowls look fantastic). And it was worth the wait. Follow their Instagram to see what their weekly schedule is, and make the time to go to whatever location they're at, it's absolutely worth it.

I've never had a Pork Belly Bao before in my life. It was sooooo delicious!!! I absolutely love new food experiences! Hats off to Street Steam Bunz...you've got something special going on!! Anytime you're at Four Legs Brewing, I'll be there!!

This was the fried rice with bulgogi. Meat portion not worth the $17. Rip off.

I think the problem is that I couldn't get past the lack of a restroom in the area. They had some portables, but they are making food and we are supposed to eat it. Where are they washing their hands? This area is also pretty cold so if you go, make sure that you have a coat, scarf and hat. I'll never make that mistake again. But because of the cold, I didn't want to eat outside so our food got a cold, but it was good. My husband liked the food he got, but gluten free options are super limited. They get a third star because of the bar! Now there was only one person working there and that's fine because he could go get a snack or something and come back to pour drinks, but again. The restroom issue. Where does he wash his hands, what if he has a cold and sneezes into them, and so on. That's where my mind went. The vendors are quite nice and were helpful and weren't mean when they answered my GF questions and I appreciate that. So, this is like the little engine that could. I can see that it is a gathering spot for people and they have music and speakers which is cool. So I saw and felt a community vibe and people really seemed to like going. If I lived in the area, I may try it a bit more, but in all honestly, Oakland Museum's Off the Grid event is everything I wish this was. I'm sure that they will get there, but don't want to hang out while they figure it out.

Crinkle fries weren't quality, & the mozzarella sticks had next to zero cheese inside. Forget about a cheese pull, I basically bit into an empty tube of fried breading. Instead of marinara (always my preference), we were given ranch, as it seemed they were running on a limited menu that night. My companion was not a fan of his chicken wings with a sweet & spicy "candy" sauce. I hate for this review to be an exercise in whiny complaints but food like this is the reason I'm apprehensive to try new eateries.

I have actually seen this food truck before but never had the opportunity to order from here so I thought today would be a good day. It seems like their claim to fame is that they use halal meat. I ordered the loaded P and a side of fries. I was pretty underwhelmed with the overall meal. The roll looked like it was bought from a general store and the cheese looked like nacho cheese you get in a can. I will give them credit that the fries tasted fresh but again, I was overall underwhelmed with the whole meal. Truthfully I would have considered giving this place four stars but the total cost of this meal came out to more than $30, which is a bit crazy. I understand we are going through an inflation period but a cheesesteak and fries costing that much is insane. Had the meal blown me away, I would have understood the high price. There may not be many cheesesteak shops in the Bay Area but there are enough where I can compare the quality and price of those shops to this truck. The quality of the sandwiches is definitely similar but the other places are way cheaper. Like I mentioned earlier, if you are going to be a truck that specializes in an American classic and are going to charge a hefty price, then be prepared to impress me.
