The intro session definitely seems like a customizable experience in that you can tell your instructor what your goals are - weight loss, toning, stretching, etc. While the main workout was core based, our session covered the whole body. The facility is very clean and much more spacious than I thought - with lockers available and some other gym machinery in the back beyond the reformer machines.

I LOVE BBB at Bayside because well first of all there is actual parking next door for it. Parking for a classes-only gym... In QUEENS?? Unheard of. But more importantly, everyone is serious about fitness and works really hard exercising, but no one takes themSELVES too seriously. It's not a popularity contest. It's mostly young professionals who are there to do their thing, hype you up if necessary, and peace out. The music pumps you up, and like my favorite instructor Carlos says, this place encourages you to "Eat something healthy and don't be a jerk".

I've been going to this gym for about 3 months and during this time I have never seen the "cleaner" vacuum the carpeted areas (do they even have a vacuum?). In fact I have consistently seen the "cleaner" working out on the lower level when he's suppose to be cleaning. The men's bathroom is gross, the sink/vanity is warped & moldy. No hand soap for days at a time, in fact members go to the Dollar Tree store down the block to buy hand soap for the bathroom (see photos). The bottom line, look elsewhere, there are better gyms nearby.

TIPS: Try to avoid the busiest hours of Mon-Thu 5pm-7pm and wipe down everything before/after you use it, and you should have a solid experience.

This was the worst, most awkward "fitness/workout" experience of my life. First of all, it is not by any means Yoga. I don't consider myself a yoga nut...I've been to somewhere around 10 classes and I generally know some of the poses. I really enjoy yoga because it gives me a chance to clear my mind, stretch a lot, and work out any tense areas in my neck and back. I also do kickboxing and pilates. Anyway, the instructor (who looked like a mess by the way) definitely didn't have any official training in yoga. His instructions were sloppy and unorganized. Their version of a warmup is slapping various parts of the body (i'd assume to increase bloodflow...but it looks and feels ridiculous). Just imagine being told "raise your arms above your head. Slap your left armpit with your right hand. Now say, 'I love my armpits!'" Swear to god, that's how they do it there. At this point I was ready to leave but I wanted to see how crazy it could get. Next, the instructor had us doing awkward movements that don't in any way resemble yoga. Then everyone had to run around the room kind of free-dancing flailing arms around to songs like "It's Raining Men"...?????? Eventually this died down and the instructor brought out tea for the old korean women in the class. I'm not sure why it was just for them, but regardless the entire place is a scam. I left the place feeling very tense and upset. It did the opposite of what yoga is supposed to do. I felt bad for the older women all dressed in their lululemon attire looking for yoga and being subjected to this. If you want yoga, DEFINITELY make sure it's really yoga. If you park in the indoor basement garage, there's a staircase that brings you right up to the entrance of the gym. You enter the gym by fingerprint reader. Right outside, street level, there's restaurants/bakery coffee shop. I utilized the gym today, 6:30pm to 7:30 pm and although there were other people exercising, there was still plenty of space for everyone. Plenty of machines and free weights to use. Plenty of lockers and ample showers in the locker rooms. The restroom facilities are right outside of the gym in the hallways. WiFi is provided if you require the internet to stream music for your workout. I would suggest to bring your own towel. Paper towels with spray disinfectant were available at the front desk. Call in if you're looking to attend class soon, but stick to email if your inquiry isn't urgent. It does take some time for them to get back to you because they have so many people to get back to. I reached out via email because I wanted to take a hip hop class for fun but lack dance experience. The best thing about a private session is that tutors cater their lessons to suit your level and pace. After further consultation about the type of dance style and music I was interested in, they helped me book an appointment. I also wanted to note that I was being rather difficult due to a change in my schedule and went back and forth about attending the class. I initially asked for a refund but ultimately decided to attend and the staff were really understanding about it. A class costs about $100 not including other add-ons (music video editing and filming). If you decide to schedule a private session you should have the following information prepared -location you want the session at (you're responsible for renting the studio space if you choose Manhattan) -dates and time preferences for the session (classes are based on instructor availability which typically means most weekends during the afternoon or evening) -style of dance and music suggestions (instructor ultimately decides on the routine and song but you can tell them what you're looking for) Once you're booked you'll get a confirmation email and payment instructions. Payments must be made at least 2 days in advance before your class. GETTING THERE: You can take the F to Parsons and hop on the Q65 bus if you don't want to take the LIRR. I believe the F, 7, N, and Q can also take you there but expect to do a couple of transfers if you don't live in the area. I'm hours away from the flushing location but I made the trip based on reviews. I'm not confident enough to perform in groups and decided a private session would be a good way to start. I heard how welcoming and friendly the instructors and students are at this place so decided to give it a shot. THE LESSON: I just finished my private lesson with Christina and I feel empowered. We danced to Ariana Grandes God is a Woman which was originally prepared for one of their intermediate classes. Her choreography really had me feelin myself. I have two left feet and at times got really nervous trying to be technically accurate but Christina was so patient with me and gave excellent tips on how to loosen up and enjoy dance. She broke down all the steps clearly, slowly and then we practiced on an off with music. I definitely want to continue practicing and come back for lessons again. Also, as a heads up be sure to ask if you can record the session because they typically only record when you're done with the entire choreography. For those of you who are beginners as well, live close to Manhattan, and want to try group classes she recommends Ness and Fernando (my spelling might be inaccurate) if you're looking to learn upbeat hip hop style dance. They teach on Wednesday and Friday. Overall, this class really helped boost my confidence and it was worth the cost and trip.
