Wonderfully honest and helpful when we found ourselves in an unfortunate situation. My aunt who lives in Roseville was treating myself and my husband to a day trip to Tahoe (we live in Chicago) and we'd stopped in Auburn for a late breakfast on our way. After asking for directions to a restaurant, my aunt mistakenly drove over a cement parking block. We were able to "free" the car but realized we'd need to get it towed somewhere because it was leaking some kind of fuel. AAA suggested Strictly Toy-ondas and we were glad they did! Betty and her daughter couldn't have been more kind or accommodating. We'd gotten a rental car and they told us to go enjoy our day and they'd call us with an estimate once they'd looked at the vehicle. After enjoying a lovely afternoon at Emerald Bay, we were so happy to get a call telling us that the fluid was just air conditioning condensation and they'd had to remove a piece of plastic, but there was no real damage. There would be no charge and we could pick up the car on our way home! They'd turned what could have been a miserable day into an enjoyably memorable day spend with my lovely aunt. I've had several good experiences with them for smaller work, but recently needed major surgery (head gaskets and a valve job) on my old 4-Runner. They did a great job! Nice people too. It took a little longer than I expected, but I'm sure the job was done right. read more

I don't see why all the bad reviews. I took my Honda in for brake pad install and rotor resurface and booked me in the next day after I called the day before at closing time. They finished the job quicker than expected and was at a fair labor cost compared to other mechanics in the area. The service writers were very friendly. I have been doing all of my auto service needs here for at least 10 years. I have 3 Honda's and 1 Toyota. They have earned my trust (as opposed to the local Honda and Toyota dealers - who have been dishonest on several occasions). I don't think they "sugar coat" things to get your business...I think they give an honest estimate based on their extensive experience, and then do a quality job at a fair price. I have tried other "bargain" places (on brakes), and found that if it takes 2 or 3 times to get it right, it is not a bargain. Over the years, they have saved me thousand's by alerting me to state programs that I might be eligible for; or things that the dealership is required to do for free. This place is terrible, I walked in with things that were previously diagnosed and asked them to fix the things that were wrong. They told me they couldn't insure the work, and wouldn't do it otherwise. I was in a tight spot so I saw no other choice... Later I found out that they were charging EXRA LABOR ontop of what was actually need, thus jacking up the price, from what was a $300 job to a almost $1600 job. I even asked to speak with their mechanics, and no go... The lady at the front put her dad on (the owner) who proceeded to yell at me... Stay as far away from this place as possible... This is going to be a long one - sorry, but I have a lot to say. I have an older Toyota truck that I've previously taken into this place after first buying it a few years ago. I was recommended by a former friend who I probably should have never taken her advice in the first place. She stated she took all her vehicles here for years and they wouldn't screw me over. She was wrong - I know my truck needed some heavy duty work; the head had blown, but that was the only thing that it had needed at the time. Just a new head, nothing more - nothing less. I think I brought it in on Friday - I didn't get my truck back for almost 2 weeks and I kept getting phone calls with a bunch of suggestions of what needed to be replaced - mostly everything electrical. I dropped my truck off just to get a head gasket replacement, what the hell were they doing even looking at my electrical. It didn't dawn on me until my most recent experience with them that they're basically fishing for money. Being the naive 20 year old I was, I said go ahead and fix what you need to, I just want my truck back in running condition. Well, I got it back and everything ran for a little bit pretty well. I was happy with their service and thought, we're out of the woods, my truck is perfect. A few months later it ended up breaking down (not saying this had anything to do with the shop - just a series of unfortunate events). I had to let my truck sit for a year or so before I had the money to fix it. Fast forward to May of 2016 - I finally made the choice to spend a bunch of money and just buy a crate motor and have this shop put it in thinking they were good at what they did. I went in with my brother and we planned to have the brand new crate engine delivered and had a quote of around 1800.00 for them to swap the engine. I thought cool, I'm in it for roughly around 4500.00 and that's great. Not great - immediately, the old man owner and his daughter jumped on the opportunity. Saying things like "It'll probably just be cheaper if we rebuild it, let me work on it and I can get you a better price because sometimes those crate engines are no good." We thought, yeah saving money is great and this guy should know what he's doing, why not? Worse decision we could have made, before we knew it, we only ended up saving maybe 300.00. The list of things that were wrong with my engine just started to grow and grow. It also took them over a month to rebuild this engine. I'm sorry, but if I'm dropping damn near 5 grand on something, you shouldn't be working on other cars in the process. Dedicate a mechanic to work on my truck. After having to be firm with them and basically bitch at them for a week to get my truck out of their damn shop, I got it back and I will say - it runs like a champ. I won't question old dudes knowledge, but him and his kid are shiesty and if you know nothing about cars, they will take advantage of that. I'm not completely ignorant to mechanic stuff and neither is my brother, we're just good people who still have faith that people can be honest. A couple weeks after having it, we were driving down a windy road in the Georgetown area, and the gas pedal was sticking. We almost crashed into a pig pen - thank goodness for being decent drivers. I immediately took it back to the shop with a crap look on my face thinking "do I need to get a lawyer?" Which is a pretty extreme thought, but having a 6" lift and not a whole lot of power steering (which is another thing the daughter of the owner lied about during one of our conversations - she told me they had found a lower power steering bracket for my truck and installed it - on some future paper work I would receive after almost crashing the paperwork said that there was in fact, no power steering bracket - so... now they're straight up liars), we could have rolled and it could have been 10x worse than what it was. The old man almost had a smile on his face - as if he wanted to chuckle. No kind of apology, nothing. His daughter was the same way, brushing it off like it was no big deal. "Sometime adjustments need to be made" is what she said. I'm thinking - this is the kind of work that you put your name on? Seriously? You guys half ass everything don't you? Regardless of what I wanted to say to them, they took all day to fix it and sent me on my way with still no apology or any kind of recognition that they sent out unfinished work. I had to take it back to them and it's currently in their shop today because not long after I got it back did something start leaking. They're probably charge me for that too. So yes, a long story, but hopefully an informative one. I highly suggest going elsewhere - even the dealership would be the better option. Strictly Toy-Ondas will screw you out of any money that they can and they will not fix anything the first time. read more

I can't attest to their service, but I can attest to the customer service. I called to price out a 30k service and 1) It was not much cheaper than the dealership 2) when I asked for only the bare minimum necessities I received a bit of an attitude. I know that not everything listed is necessary and I'd think that as a potential customer you'd be trying to win my business rather than push me away. Not really worth the "savings" when it is only $20-30 below dealership pricing. read more
