I've grown up in bowling alleys all over the Midwest and unfortunately after my second visit to Strike Ten (Roselle IL) I will think twice before bringing, using and/or trusting my own personal Bowling balls. I went with my Girlfriend, her cousin and Grandmother. Grandma looks for the best rate ($money wise) to bowl a game or two. Which explains why the treatment we received was so terrible. Only took 1 shot to being noticing the LACK of Oil and regular maintenance to the lanes and bowling area. (Not thinking twice) I start using my OWN personal bowling ball and shoes. My ball gets stuck in the back by the pin setter. After the 5-10 mins of waiting to find an employee that wanted to work, we were forced to move a lane over which was not the major problem. The issue i was left to deal with was getting my own ball back, once they were finally able to get my personal ball back, it was covered all around with deep gouges. A month goes by after leaving my ball there for them to "fix it". The follow up call to them about my bad experience and damaged equipment. They decided to end the interaction by saying "If i don't take down my honest bad review of how they treated us" they will refuse to fix my personal ball. so here i am years later and STILL NOT FIXING IT. This place is great! Per person $14 for 2 games and shoe rental and $18 for 3 games and shoe rental. We had so much fun. And the food was delicious. People complaining about it being run down are just being rude, that's what gives it charm, it's really not that bad at ALL, it's a bowling alley and honestly everyone there was just having a great time. Not a bad place to enjoy some bowling if you're shopping or dining in the area. The place itself is fairly clean and organized though some of the furniture doesn't look like it's in the best shape. They also have a full bar here with fairly standard prices. When I visited, the bowling here was about $5 per person, per game with a $3 shoe rental fee. The place wasn't too loud despite being fairly busy and the environment felt fairly casual. read more

The girl working there is lucky I didn't walk down after seeing her pointing and accusing my husband when she charged him incorrectly. The manager came and diffused the situation because she was awfully tempered when she charged us $70 when the rest of our group was charged $14 for their 2 hour games & shoe rental. They should have gave us our money back but "evened it out" by not charging late comers to our lanes which still didnt cover it but my husband didnt want to argue any further. This place is horrible! Thank god our group did not pay before hand because the worker told us we can pay after or before. As we were playing not even 30 MINS in the lanes kept breaking down, the worker was nice enough to help us change lanes but the lane broke down once again. Besides that the shoes stank so bad like they haven't been cleaned in a while, the couch's were very ran down and dirty, after we tried to leave , the worker or owner tried to make us pay for something we did didn't even play for. Most of time it was us going back and forth telling the worker it broke down. Worst bowling experience ever! I wish i could give it 0 stars if the app let me. read more

Our original lane's ball return wasn't working, we were then switched to the adjacent lane (which shares the same return). Then we were instructed to keep grabbing a new ball for each throw (awful from a bowler's perspective, also were we supposed to throw every single ball in the alley?) Thankfully, we were moved to a lane with a different ball return so it could be fixed. This new lane shut down 2 times during play, so we had to spend 5 minutes waiting for the lanes to restart. Also, the Brunswick bowling shoes I rented were as slippery as my normal shoes, which is unsafe and made gameplay difficult. read more

This place is falling apart. The couches are old and torn. Instead of fixing them they hide them with dirty blankets. With all the money they're making with overpriced games and drinks they could at least replace their seats. Also it looks like they haven't cleaned since 1993. read more

This place I great!!! We drive past here all the time and didn't even think to stop in until my nieces asked for bowling! This place is definitely small, but cozy, and I love how each lane feels like an intimate area, not your typical bowling alley. Each two-pair of lanes has two vinyl couches facing each other. Drinks were good; bartender poured a great whiskey and coke, and served it promptly! Also, prices here are more than fair for this area!! We came on a weekday during summer and this place was dead--hoping this place doesn't close for a lack of business because we definitely want to come back!! read more

The owner was great and stayed open late for us. Beer and price are wonderful and the ambiance was awesome.

This place is just bad. It's extremely worn down and in poor condition. At this point I think the only reason they stay open and get business is for their own family/friend get togethers. Couches are torn, shoes are rough, most of the lanes don't work. I couldn't imagine eating or drinking here. read more

There were an outrageous amount of fruit flies nesting on the bar tap so we started a game of bowling to get away from the bar. Even 25-30 ft from the bar, flies were flying, this time landing in my drink. Three of them total. The flies just put a damper on the afternoon, ruining the game we played. read more

Wanted to enjoy a couple games with my wife. The pin setters took forever and our balls kept on getting stuck in the back. After seeing that our ball was rolling around back there for 2-3 min we made sure the counter knew it was back there. After another 5 min. It still wasn't returned and we told them again. Now nearly 10 min later. The ball was finally returned but now had a huge chunk missing. Almost like it was rubbing on a wheel and wasn't moving. The counter couldn't care less and offered up a free game. Not to mention it's on a platform and the seating is on top of the lanes. Overall not good at all. Threw a couple nice games. I came here for a date and was pretty disappointed. The actually bowling lane wasn't in the best condition and it isn't a great atmosphere. Also the worker was really unhelpful and didn't do a good job explaining what I was buying so I ended up overpaying and she was also just pretty rude. Right when we walked in -I should have known to turn around and walk out but we were there for a family party. Updating my previous review from a while back. That review was from my very first visit. I have been here probably around 10 more times. There have been a couple issues with lane errors, but, they always fix the problem fast. I feel like their lanes are a bit dry sometimes as well. My ball curves much more here than other places; although, depends on the time I come. They can get a bit crowded on weekends. I still was able to get drinks fast on Friday night though. Their pizza is good. I've had some of their other food too, all has been tasty. Service has been friendly. So, I'll keep it at 4 stars. read more

Bowling was fine, but I'm disappointed with pricing. Online they promote $4 or $5 weekend per game price plus shoes. Showed up on holiday, which I assumed would be weekend price, and I was charged $35 per lane for one hour plus shoes and tax for $48! By far the worst bowling alley I've ever been to. Got an hour for myself at $30, the super dry lanes and my balls coming back extremely dusty every game was one thing but my lane also shut off twice randomly. The second time it shut off all 3 of my personal balls didn't come back. The worker went in back then told me he doesn't know where they are and it could be a while. Lost the last 15 mins of my paid hour while he tore up the lane looking for them. Really nice bowling alley. They were so friendly. Great food, the chicken tenders and beef sliders were delicious. I would just expand the bartender's knowledge on your drinks since you did have a full bar. She was not able to make a simple Bloody Mary even though she had all the ingredients but she was super sweet about it. The upstairs needs two more pool tables and just a little better lighting. I've been going to Strike Ten for years. After today I will never return. The older gentleman today was beyond rude and the customer service was so horrible. After walking in we immediately were met with rudeness, mind you not one other person was there. I entered with my group of 12 and proceeded to get lanes. We were instantly attacked for advising the children's shoes were too small. It was so bad I literally had to ask was there an issue. Starting the games of bowling I order drinks and a pitcher of Sprite for my children. I tasted it and it was flat with no flavoring. I returned it and was told it was fine. It wasn't, I had to plead for something different along with huffs and puffs. Finally after bowling our two games we go to pay and attacked for paying separately. Never had this problem and he said I had a black family last night who skipped out on their bill. I wasn't sure how that pertained to us but therefore my group was paying for it. The guy had a problem with debit card payments etc. I'll never return and I am deeply disgusted. Again, I've been going for years and literally have baby pictures of my now 7 year old son at the bowling alley as we have had parties here for years. read more

This place is the most beautiful bowling alley I've ever seen. I know that the previous sentence is a strange one, but it's actually true! It's beautiful inside! The decor marries an upscale lounge with the active approach of bowling beautifully. Instead of typical plastic benches you are sitting on comfortable leather sofas at the lanes. The interface is very user friendly and the screens at the end of the lanes are huge. On the other side of the lanes is a small sports bar with booths, high top tables, and a bar to sit at and watch the game! Or games - there are always 3 TV's on! After meeting the bartender, I learned that you need to be trained and certified to serve Guinness, which is why not every bar has it. They have their certificate on the wall :) and then the bartender poured me a Black and Blue which BLEW MY MIND!! It was Blue Moon on the bottom with Guinness sitting on top and it was separate!! I have never left a bad review in my life but I am still in absolute disbelief at how we were treated Saturday night. We had three adults and 3 kids bowling and when we arrived there was only one other lane being used. Whoever was running the alley gave us two lanes because he said the kids could have the bumpers and the adults without. Great, so far so good. Then after the first game I went to refill drinks and the same man who checked us in was bartending and had said "you guys are taking a really long time". I didn't really know what to say so I just kind of chuckled. **look at everyone else's reviews about the owners attitude..clearly this isn't a one time thing!** The kids start their second game and are hungry so we order food. At this point, after getting shoes on and entering names, picking balls, etc. we've been here about an hour. After they're done eating and we finish the second game and begin the third game; it's now been close to two hours and the same man comes over and starts screaming at us, I mean SCREAMING, to the point where other customers are looking over at us. He's demanding we've taken too long and that we have to go. The kids are getting upset at this point because he's yelling that they're taking too long and he has other customers waiting. Mind you, we never paid per game and he never gave us a time frame. Yes it started to fill up but there were STILL OTHER OPEN LANES! He insisted he "gave us the best lanes" and that other people want these lanes. (There was a group of people who came in and appeared, based off conversations with the worker, that they were regulars. So I'm assuming he wanted to give them these lanes and immediately cut our game off in the middle of the game). This man wouldn't let us play anymore and the kids were upset because I had already said we could play three games and this was going to be the last. Absolutely inappropriate. We were paying customers just as anyone else was. I used to come here with my coworkers all the time a few years ago after bartending and always gave great tips/recommendations. We have gone there every year for last 4 years with a group of us. Each year it seems to be getting a little worn. The bowling shoes are really beat up and my wife hers were ripped down the side. We walked in 5 minute late and our lanes were given away. The guy running said " well we really don't take reservations" . On a whim we decided to take our 2 year old and 4 year old bowling. I'm not saying it was the best idea, but it certainly wasn't the worst. With all that out there, I'm grateful that Strike Ten was a) super close to home and b) gloriously empty on a Friday afternoon. We called ahead to ensure Friday night wasn't a league night and to verify our kids could bowl with bumpers. With an affirmative on both, we drove over right after we picked up our kids from school. Staff was friendly enough, and our girls snagged their shoes and bowling balls within no time. The lightest bowling ball available is 6 lbs but my 2 year old was still able to (carefully, with a watchful eye) carry her ball up to the lane line. My 4 year old had no problem whatsoever and used a 7 lb ball the entire time. In addition to the bumpers, the staff brought over the ramp that our girls could use to aim and roll their respective bowling ball down if they chose to. The bumpers can be autoset by player, so my girls were able to use them while my husband and I did not. Maybe I should have. Nevertheless, we bowled for about an hour, played the damn claw (stuffed animal) game and headed home. I didn't try any food, but their menu was pretty deep for a bowling alley! Sandwiches, wraps, entrees, apps, and the like. All in all, $30 later our girls had their first experience bowling and it was pretty fun for all! read more

We went here last night because it was the only bowling alley in the area that was not running leagues. When you walk in it looks really cool, the setup is nice. And then it's pretty much all downhill from there. We ordered Nachos and a Pizza, both were awful. Even for bowling alley standards they were awful. Our waitress was nice, but kept forgetting our drink orders and then took 20 minutes when she did remember, and the place was mostly empty at the time! Out of the 14 lanes, 4 of them were closed/broken when we got there. While we were playing, there was a family a few lanes away whose lane broke down, so they were moved to the lane next to us. A few frames later that lane broke down too. I felt bad for them, that sucks. Our game was shutdown in the 5th frame for whatever reason, and when we asked the girl at the desk to turn it back on (you pay by games, it's not timed) she completely shut it off. Took another 20 minutes before it was finally back up. Here's the fun part, they don't just charge you for a game at a lane, they charge each person individually, so for 3 people to bowl one game, and 4 people to bowl two games it cost us 50 bucks. Fantastic. Avoid this place at all costs, just wait until the leagues are gone at the other bowling alleys. And if you decide you do want to come here and throw your money away, at least eat first. read more

This place is a joke. I started going when it opened and the owner constantly surrounded himself with 6 HUGE bodyguards and had bouncers all over the place. My pals and I went there a lot. We hosted my son's birthday there and were given 2 lanes for 20+ kids to bowl. The owner simply doesn't care about his customers. He acts like he never recognizes us, has never been friendly and prefers people of his nationality. One Saturday afternoon I brought my son in to go bowling and half the lanes were unused because the owner's family was having a party upstairs and wanted them reserved. We were told "10 minutes", but after 1.5 hours we left. The owner was there and acted like he'd never seen me before in my life. Didn't even offer us a free soda while we waited. I've seen hookers in there, drug dealers, and all sorts of other BS. He runs it like an immature, spoiled kid who only wants HIS PEOPLE in there. I've never felt more unwanted. We quit going. Shame, because it has potential but it's not a freakin' dance club, it's a bowling alley in the burbs...in the burbiest part of the burbs. I'm sure his family has plenty of money to keep it going...hopefully those family members pay full price for their lanes because he obviously doesn't want regular customers. read more
