I explained that I was a complete newbie, that I had a 5w rod/reel combo and that I was fishing a small pond generally. I asked him to select some flies for me based on the information that I gave him since I didn't know the first thing about selecting flies. He gave me six flies, a box and recommend some extra line. I bought it all at a cost of well over $100. The next day I was told by an experienced fly fisherman that the flies I bought were much to big for my size line. I had no idea. So I wrote to Harry's and explained that I was given the wrong size flies. No one answered my email. Today I went back to Harry's to return the products that I had purchased a few days earlier. (I live over an hour from the store) I asked the same salesperson for a refund. He refused, stating that "It would be too hard to look up." Bottom line, even though I gave the salesperson exactly the information necessary, I was offered and bought over $100 in supplies that I can not possibly use. When I told this to the salesperson today, he just shrugged his shoulders. There is no doubt that I was taken advantage of because I am new to the sport of fly fishing. Vendors like these are predators and should be called out when they do things like this that hurt hard working people who don't have money to throw away. BTW: I am a veteran of the USAF.

They offer a lot of "perks" for club members. The only real complaint is the QRG system for checking out with a purchase. My advice is to go there on Monday mornings.

The tip of my hubs fishing reel broke off recently during a trip. He said he might be able to cut it and "repair" it for him. We purchased the kit and Troy did his magic. My hubs is definitely pleased. Seems to be a lot of employees walking around but none seem to be engaging with the customers. I walked around the apparel section many times. Saw employees. They were talking amongst each other. But no one to say hello or asked if i needed anything. Ended up finding my own sizes and going to ask for price checks on my own. A few clothing items were misplaces even though that SAME selectin was all on one arm with the sign displaying, but the cashier wouldnt honor it even though I showed her the picture. I wasn't going to fuss with her, I ended up not purchasing it. Do better! This location we may not frequent but might try another location and hope to have better service and luck.

While it may not be as big as some of the other area parks it has been recently renovated and the location makes this a standout spot for water based recreational activities. This park was also a favorite spot of the Native Americans and early settlers who once lived here. Recent improvements to the park include hardening of the shoreline with rocks, new north observation pier, a new boardwalk connecting the north and south pier, and new decking for the south observation pier. Other park amenities include a concrete walkway, fishing piers with fish cleaning stations, benches, pavilions which can be rented, picnic tables, grills, kayak/canoe launch, and restrooms. This park has one of the only natural beaches on the Indian River Lagoon. Many people visit this park to fish from the piers and beach. I loved it for the stunning river view and the diverse bird life it attracts. I saw anhinga, great blue herons, and egrets. If you are lucky you may even spot a manatee or dolphin. I recommend coming here for an amazing sunset view.

It really is a cool park and provided a great spot to take a conference call and enjoy a peaceful water view. There were people wading in the water and others, like myself, were chilling and just enjoying the view. Again, it is not a large park, but Castaway Point Park seems to be a hidden gem in Palm Bay. This in itself is a good thing as it is always amazing to find these little known places in the course of my travels. They had a building housing rest rooms and the park itself was well maintained. I truly enjoyed my time here at Castaway Point Park and I will definitely return to this cool park when I am in the area. I would definitely recommend Castaway Point Park and I give it five stars.
