Please call or text at 916-362-2478. Mike the owner is very honest, reliable and knowledgeable.

This very serious pitting clearly caused observable road noise.

I have been a customer of Stringfield's Auto Electric since 1984. I have always been very happy with their work. A while back while having some electrical work done, Jon (a highly skilled mechanic working there) had mentioned that they have expanded and now do many other repairs on vehicles, not just electrical repair work. WHY I AM NOW SWITCHING TO THEM FOR OTHER (NON-ELECTRICAL) REPAIR ISSUES Over the years I have used a variety of businesses in the Rancho Cordova region for non-electrical issues and I had found one (I will call Business X) that I felt was very competent. On a major trip early this summer, I began to notice a (likely) bearing noise in the rear of the vehicle which would require a hoist for safe diagnosis (my current vehicle is 4WD). Business X (that had partially changed ownership since I last used it) charged me $130 to (allegedly) diagnose the source of the noise. They determined that it was a need for new tires. Four new tires did not eliminate the noise I was hearing. Another of their mechanics then thought it might be the differential and they recommended another business to help diagnose the noise. I was very upset with Business X for not being able to diagnose the noise since they had hoists. I next consulted with Jon at Stringfield's about the issue and asked for his advice. He said he was very skilled with all the components (including differentials) of my vehicle that could possibly be making the noise. The next work day he road tested it, found the source of the problem, and fixed it that same day. It was a seriously pitted axle where the roller bearing contacts the axle (see attached photos). Had this been a 2WD vehicle I would have been able to diagnose and fix the issue myself. I have repaired this identical damage on two occasions on a former 2WD vehicle. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION: I am relieved that the problem causing the noise has been found and corrected. The noise of concern is gone. This morning (after thoroughly road testing the vehicle yesterday) I let Jon know how pleased I am that he is now working on more than just electrical issues. Rancho Cordova definitely has at least one highly skilled mechanic who I can turn to in the future for diagnosing and repairing such issues.

He quickly helped me install the dash cam without any appointments -- I just showed up and asked for help, and he did.

Mike thoroughly checked the vehicle and determined that there was no drain, but that I needed a new battery.

Instead, the staff immediately started trying to upsell things I did not ask for, including a spare wheel rim and other unnecessary items. After that, they also tried to sell me windshield wipers. I eventually agreed to the wipers, but the constant pressure to buy additional things I didn't request was already uncomfortable. I had limited time and even canceled an important meeting because this place was recommended to me as reliable. Then, right when I expected my car to be ready, they called and suddenly claimed my wheel bolts were "worn out" and that they had no idea who installed them. Three years ago I had my tires replaced at Costco and everything worked perfectly since then. Instead of explaining the issue clearly or suggesting a simple solution, they immediately told me I needed to replace all four wheel rims. I came in for tires and suddenly they were telling me I needed completely new wheels. This felt extremely suspicious and unnecessary. Bolts cost very little, yet they insisted I needed expensive new rims. When I asked for a refund and my car back, they said they had already taken the car apart and were concerned about my "safety." It sounded more like pressure to force me into buying expensive parts I didn't come in for. After a long and stressful discussion I finally managed to get my refund, but the entire experience wasted my time and caused unnecessary stress. I canceled a meeting, trusted the recommendations about this place, and instead dealt with aggressive upselling and confusing explanations. Based on this experience, I will not return and cannot recommend this location. If you are looking for a place to change your tires, you may want to consider other options.

After my TPMS (tire pressure monitoring sensor) light came on repeatedly for my 2024 Honda Civic…read more(after putting air in the right rear tire every few days), I figured this was something that had to be taken care of at a reputable and well-known tire shop. Come find out that the Rancho Cordova "Les Schwab Tire Center" came to my rescue. Located adjacent to the Home Depot directly on busy Sunrise Blvd. and only about a mile south of Highway 50, this is one of many of their locations in the greater Sacramento area. Since my work office is only 5 minutes away from here, I came here on two different occasions on Tuesday 12/10/2024; the first was on my break at 10:15am and the second was after work at around 4:05pm. The first time (on my break), one of the employees informed me that the PSI level on the right rear tire was at 15 where it should be around 35. When I came after work, the PSI did drop a little, but not too significantly. Therefore, I had them perform if any objects punctured through that tire. After putting my vehicle up on a lift, come find out that there was a very small pin-like object that penetrated and went through the center of the tire. Fortunately it wasn't anywhere near the sidewall which meant they were able to patch it up. What really make this experience special was that they patched up my flat tire and did not charge me a dime. Truth be told, I had never shopped at Les Schwab before and after putting my customer information in, maybe this is something they offer to new customers. Either way, I was very happy with the outcome of this experience. In addition to selling and repairing anything tire-related, they also specialize in anything that has to do with the suspension. This includes shocks/struts, axles, CV boots, alignment, wheels, brakes, and even replacing batteries. They have very generous hours of operation as they are open Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm, Saturday from 8am-5pm, and closed on Sunday. They also offer a spacious waiting area, free Wi-Fi, and two public restrooms. All in all, "Les Schwab Tire Center" was a very pleasant experience. Great customer service, friendly employees, and a good honest tire shop. My rating, a unanimous five stars.

Afterward, the staff told me I needed to return after driving 25 miles for a quick check--no appointment needed. After the rotation, my tire pressure indicator light came on. So, as instructed, I returned once I'd driven the 25 miles. When I walked into the office, I stood at the counter while the staff member looked at his cell phone. After a minute or two, he finally looked up but still didn't say anything. I had to initiate by saying, "I'm here for my 25-mile checkup," and honestly, I felt like I was interrupting him. He put down his phone, asked if I had actually driven the 25 miles (which was obvious from why I was there), and then sent a technician out to check my car. When the tire technician came out, I told her the tire pressure indicator light had come on. She told me that a tire rotation has nothing to do with the indicator light. I've since learned that's not entirely accurate. While a rotation shouldn't cause a TPMS sensor to fail, it can trigger the need for a relearn/reset, and sensors can be disturbed during handling. Pressure changes during the process can also set off the system. So her blanket statement wasn't fully correct. She suggested I replace all four tire pressure sensors since my car is older and the system couldn't identify which one had the dead battery. Given the age of my car, I agreed, and to their credit, they were able to get the work done right away ($258.28). Overall, I think replacing the sensors was the right call, but I didn't appreciate the misinformation about tire rotations having "nothing to do" with TPMS issues. Combined with the delays and the less-than-welcoming customer service, the experience left something to be desired.
