Solid steakhouse in a local setting. Took my Mom here for her birthday last night and it was a truly special time. Being all of our first times there, I called prior to mention the special occasion trusting guidance on what table was best...they nailed it. The staff really took care of us and I loved the little touches like the staff-signed birthday card...my Mom was all smiles all night (and that's not easy!) Shout out to the manager who answered my call and CJ our server who was excellent. Warm, welcoming, balanced with his kind and friendly attention/demeanor. Cocktails (that Trader Vic's Mai Tai means business for sure!) and mocktails were solid and the wines I had all spot-on. For our party of 3 we split the almost-perfectly cooked 20oz ribeye with 3 sides (+broiled king crab) as an entree. Started with the ahi tuna crudo 'roll,' A5 wagyu appetizer and caesar salad and ended with the grilled pineapple foster. Big 'production' choices with the wagyu app and dessert, which were both fun to watch. I've been to Stripsteak a couple of times and have been wowed by the food quality. Both times we got the Ohana Tasting Menu and that is absolutely the way to go! You get all the best dishes to share (see photos) and will certainly leave veryyy full and super satisfied. I dream of the truffle mac... so yummy! But seriously, everyone left loving the meal. The service was very attentive and helpful. The overall vibe is fancy but comfortable, a perfect date night or special occasion spot. They do validate parking in the international marketplace parking lot which is fantastic in busy Waikiki. Downsides include the high price tag and I was somewhat disappointed with the cocktails. Wine and dine in paradise... You'll find this joint on the 3rd floor of the mall, their an elevator on the right incase you don't want to use the escalator. Once you walked in, the hostess greets you right away. I suggest you make reservations or come in early. The ambiance is just right for a date or just hanging out. Our waiter came right away once seated. He offered suggestions on everything since this is our first time. We ordered, and everything came out before we knew it. Love, Love, Love 10/10! I absolutely loved everything about this place. The steaks were amazing and smooth like butter. The best steaks I ever had in my life! Not one piece of steak will be in your teeth after you eat. The drinks were super delicious and perfect. The Mac n Cheese you will not want to stop eating. There was live musicians at night. I had reservations just in case it was packed. When making reservations if you want to be by live musicians let them know. I didn't know so I wasn't next to it. The decor is elegant and sophisticated. I highly recommend dressing up. Great for celebrations. There were several servers. One bringing the hors d'oeuvres, one bringing the drinks and one main server for orders. Which the main server was super knowledgeable about the menu and taste. One would think he tried everything and memorized the menu. They were amazing from start to finish. Great job team you all nailed it! It is located in the International Market Place. Hubs and I have always loved every MM restaurant we'd been to... until this one. :/ Hubs and I wanted a tomahawk to share and I saw their board ad while walking through the International Marketplace. They're located on the 3rd floor with other dine-in restaurants, right next to Liliha Bakery. The lighting was calm without being too dim. We dined with friends and had no problem carrying on a conversation. The seating was spacious enough where I felt comfortable dining while seated in my wheelchair, without feeling like I was blocking a walkway. For our appetizer, we tried the hot stone A5 wagyu and the instant bacon. The wagyu was definitely everyone's favorite part of the meal. Just couple small bites, our friends were worried it would be small servings throughout the meal but thankfully that wasn't the case. Unfortunately, that small app was one of the few positive takeaways. The instant bacon... hmph... while the sauce was definitely tasty, the meat itself was like extremely tough jerky. Like so overcooked that it was hard to even chew, much less decently take or cut a bite. If that's how that dish is supposed to be served, I would recommend avoiding it at all costs! It's definitely not worth the disappointing texture. For our meal, aside from sharing the tomahawk, we also ordered their trio of sauces, the mashed potatoes, and a foie gras add on. The foie gras was decent. The sear wasn't nearly as "perfect" as it really should be for such a tiny pricy portion. We do order foie gras from Hudson Valley so we could enjoy at home. We had learned the proper way to cook it when we met them at Eat Drink SF. But sadly this Stripsteak "version" didn't come close to our amateur home chef sear; a claim I really didn't want to admit. :( To the sauces... when we go to a steakhouse, we hope for an experience that goes beyond what we could reasonably achieve at home. That's a reasonable expectation, especially at a MM restaurant, right? That said, a steak should be able to stand on its own without any sauces. If you do use sauce, it should be to compliment, not have to "make" the dish. That was disappointingly not the case with our steak. Now the sauces were definitely delicious (chimmichurri, beurre blanc, and house steak sauce), but the steak itself sadly was not. It was listed as a 34oz Nebraska tomahawk. Size wise, it seemed accurate so that was a positive. We ordered it prepared medium. It came prepared much closer to medium well. There was very little actual "tenderness" in the entire steak we ate. And unfortunately the steak flavor was so bland until we added the sauces. And sadly it didn't satisfy the steak craving we had, especially for costing two Benjamins. Pretty disappointing. For dessert, we ordered 2 of the Kona chocolate cakes; for each couple to share. We all agreed we detected no hints of Kona so although the chocolate forward dessert was delicious, we still had disappointed expectations. Had our last meal on Oahu at Stripsteak. To call it expensive is an understatement! It's ridiculously expensive! But, the food was very, very good. I had the Miso sea bass and my husband had a filet. Both were very tasty and my husband had nothing but praise for his steak. The duck fat fries that they serve as a nibble before the meal, instead of bread, were a nice change from the ordinary. We had the Pineapple Foster (an island take on bananas foster). It was good, but something was missing. Can't quite put my finger on it though. The only thing I can complain about was our server. We went for an early dinner on a Sunday night and had: Happy Hour "happy meal" which had some sort of room temperature fish tempura (meh), tartare bites (weirdly spicy, overly dressed and then covered in a ton of goopy truffle hollandaise sauce - bleh), edamame (good), and some sort of pork bao (quite tasty, but the meat was a bit dry and chewy). It also came with a glass of sake, which was quite good. I'd probably avoid this one unless you like goopy stuff. Mixed green salad - now, this was an EXCELLENT salad, and I generally dislike leafy salads. The dressing was also excellent. I'd come back just for this. Steak tartar - this was different than the happy hour "happy meal" tartar bites, so it was much better. Unfortunately, the crostini they served it with tasted like really stale, lifeless, chalky croutons. If they had served it with a better bread option, it would have been excellent. Strip steak - this was excellent. One of the best steaks I've had in quite a while. I'd come back for this. Chimichuri sauce - definitely not worth the $5 - it basically tasted and looked like it had been sitting in the fridge for 4 days. Just an oily sludge best avoided. Complimentary fries - we've had this before on previous visits and it was excellent. This time, they were merely ok, a bit dry, and not fresh. It came with the truffle hollandaise sauce (meh), ketchup and tonkatsu sauce. I'd say the tonkatsu sauce was the best of the trio. The service was friendly and efficient, and the location convenient. The food was definitely better a couple of years ago (everything was excellent), but I'm guessing that maybe they don't have the A-Team in the kitchen on Sunday nights, or like everyone else, they're trying to save some $ (understandable, given the post-Covid realities for restaurants). Went to Stripsteak at the International Marketplace...to celebrate our anniversary with friends and family. The food was a bit too salty. We ordered the Instant Bacon which was really tasty, but a bit too hard. We also ordered the Hot Rock Wagu which was very nice, we each had one 2 inch square piece...there was 5 of us. We also had the hamachi sashimi which was very nice. For our main dish we ordered the surf and turf which my husband and I shared and we also shared a chop chop salad. The salad was nice but a bit bland. The surk and turf came with asparagus spears. The lobster was nice as was the steak, but the asparagus was a bit salty. We also tried the fries....again too salty. We also ordered the garlic fried rice.....which i really liked. I would have liked it more had it come at the same time as our surf and turf, it came late. Also it took a long time to get our water filled and to get two orders of diet coke. They served us a slice of layered shite cake to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The case was nice.the whole experience was different. I appreciate the ease of using the OpenTable app to make / modify / or cancel a reservation here at Stripsteak, so kudos to whoever decides to allow such things to occur as many establishments either do not offer reservations or one must call over the phone to reserve. I like Michael Mina, I don't know why really but I'm guessing it's based on my experience at two of his restaurants here in O'ahu - one being Stripsteak and the other being Mina's Fish House. For this visit we chose to start with Dashi-Poached Shrimp Cocktail ($28); the Truffled Caesar Salad ($20); and the Chop Chop Wedge Salad ($24). Shrimp cocktail had an 'alcoholic' taste to it. We've ordered this before on prior visits and I don't recall that flavor. The order comes with 5 large pieces of shrimp along with a wasabi cocktail sauce and regular cocktail sauce. Truffle Caesar salad was delicious but only have 6 romaine leafs which to me seemed a bit on the smaller side. Good flavor and the tempura white anchovy is delicious!! The chop chop wedge salad is exactly as described - a wedge salad that's been chopped! The usually toppings are included: bacon, egg, tomato, red onions, and blue cheese. The buttermilk ranch dressing is better than most and the salad to dressing ratio was purrrrfect. For entrees we chose the 8oz center cut filet mignon ($77) and the Macadamia-Crusted Mahi Mahi ($49) along with the Whipped Potatoes ($17) and the Black Truffle Mac and Cheese ($23). The filet mignon is our go to cut at practically all steakhouses and this one served here at Stripsteak is our favorite of all the steakhouses on island! We've been to like 4 other places (Little Joe's; Hy's., etc) and Stripsteak is our favorite 'fancy steakhouse' meal! Filet was prepared perfectly as requested, medium, and is seasoned nicely. Mac-nut crusted Mahi is delectable - cooked to perfection with a firm texture and moist! The piece of Mahi sits on top a Honshimeji Mushroom Sam's Beurre Blanc and that flavor of earthy notes mixed with this umami'ness is heavenly. Whipped potatoes are perfectly whipped and the Mac and cheese is sorta smoky/nutty with a 'horseradish / wasabi' ish' taste - fricken amazing! Overall, the reason for 4 vs 5 stars is the wait time for getting our order in, and receiving our beverages (soda syrup to carbonation mixture was off plus it tasted as if our soda sat for a bit and the ice melted thus resulting in a diluted drink), and waiting from ordering to actually receiving our food items. Staff was friendly and did have to apologize for the wait on behalf of the chef but when you're paying $400+ for a meal you kinda don't want to wait 15+mins for beverages! We'd come back but probably not on a weekend as a weekday may provide less crowds thus less wait times. read more

That said, it is located on the top floor of the International Marketplace and it kind of gives off a strip mall vibe in that there is literally no view other than people walking by in front of the restaurant. It is a fairly expensive dining option but you'd expect this from a steak house. I would not say it was the best steak I have ever ordered. but it was good. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. It was all about the service. When we arrived, the hostess/woman who checked us in acted like she was doing us a favor allowing us to eat at their restaurant. We arrived right on time and there were plenty of tables available, but she made us wait 15-20 minutes to be seated. We asked her if we could be seated at one of the open tables but she said they were preparing it. We eventually got one of the tables we asked about when we arrived. She should not be working at the front desk. A waiter then came to our table about 5 min later. He asked how our night was going and we said it was off to a rough start but we hoped it would get better. He never returned. Another waiter came about 10 minutes later and we ordered a mai tai. We never got it. After another 10 minutes passed, another waiter came by and we told him we never received the mai tai and he brought us one. We didn't think it was a mai tai, but we didn't care at that point. We then ordered the sashimi appetizer. It wasn't good so we got our check and walked over to Roy's, where the service and food was excellent. I would encourage the manager/owner of this restaurant to visit unannounced and see if you like the way you are treated. Greeting at the front by the hostess who accommodated the seating to the outside area rather than the bar. Happy hour (4-6 pm) have a good choice of various items. This is what I have to say is that the alcohol wasn't lacking and I'm glad because at $10 a drink, I don't want watered down drinks. They hit well and tasted great. Impressed ice logo and cube on my old fashioned. (I like finishing touches) We had some belly bao (it's one per order), shrimp cocktail, and my Yelp meal came with a choice of salad. The belly bao was tasty, the only complaint I might have was the pork wasn't soft soft, but soft enough. However the flavor and the bun were soft. My yuzu dressing on my salad popped and was so refreshing. I had asked if they sell this but didn't get a response but jt was a delicious dressing!! the jumbo shrimp were jumbo and had a nice meaty texture to them. Appetizers were delicious. Moving on, my choice for my yelp dinner was the New York steak with charred broccolini and mashed potato. Also ordered was the burger and fries! Great price point on this. my plate came and everything was perfect. The meat, vegetable and potato were all seasoned perfectly. Broccolini wasn't mushy and mash was tasty. The burger was delicious too but my complaint on that was the cheese choice. Possibly upgrade the choice of cheese. tasty nonetheless. Fries were delicious. Dessert was a basque cheesecake with a compote of fresh fruit. By the time dessert came I was so full but it was delicious. Service is impeccable. The steak was perfectly prepared and the sides were outstanding. The seafood items were not as perfect, but the mocktail menu was inventive and fun and the service was impeccable. It is hard to find a good meal guaranteed on the island, especially as people with food allergies and limited options. If you are in Waikiki and looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion LOOK NO FURTHER! As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted and had no issues with our reservation that we made through Open Table. (We annotated prior to that it was our anniversary through open table). During our initial greeting we were met with our waiter (CJ) who was amazing, sat us at a beautiful table outside and wished us a happy anniversary and was on top of everything including his food recommendations! They even included this card signed by the staff! My wife and I both got the 20 oz Ribeye accompanied by the whipped mash (must get), broccolini, and brussel sprouts which were all cooked to perfection and to our liking! For appetizers we got the Rockefeller Oysters which was a recommendation from CJ (Best Appetizer) followed by the crab cake. Everything was amazing! Only 4 stars for this beautiful place? Am I loco (moco)? We've been big fans of this place for several years, and we go every time we're in Honolulu (which is a lot, actually). We always start our vacations here with a martini--a happy tradition. But there have been a few changes lately that worry us. Good news: they still give you those amazing/FREE french fries with your meal/cocktails, with three yummy sauces. The trick is getting them when they're hot. Granted, they're free, and even these fries are tasty when cold, but still... Second, their steaks are still outstanding--perhaps the best on the island. Problems: First, the prices have shot through the roof! The already pricey steaks have been jacked up by at least 30% or more. Second, the wine list by the glass has been thoroughly emasculated. They used to offer some delightful single pours, but now the card is weak. Nothing really stood out for me. Third, customer service is now hit-and-miss. Sometimes we get a great bartender, others it's someone who just phones it in. Do you hate warm, watery martinis? We do. I don't want to have to watch the bartender like a hawk. But at these prices, I feel we have to. Still, we'll be back. Hope they figure out their way back to their original path soon. read more

Tl;dr: a pretty typical Waikiki restaurant - come for the service and ambience, not the food. We walked in without a reservation on a Friday night 30 minutes before closing and was seated right away. Food: bad steak for any restaurant, especially a steak restaurant. Dry, overcooked, and under-seasoned filet mignon. Asked for medium rare and got well done. Tuna was way better than the steak. Baked potatoes was on par with my college dining hall baked potatoes. Drinks were on point, my expresso martini was well balanced and not too sweet. Service: our server was great, very knowledgeable about the menu, gave good recommendations, checked on us throughout the evening, and not invasive. Service is definitely the highlight. Ambience: upscale modern, I'd recommend outdoor seating. Good for date night or just dining out with friends. Normally when a restaurant messed up their signature dish, steak in this case, I'd leave a 2 star. In this case the service was good enough for me to bump it to 3. That said, I'm hesitant to recommend Stripsteak because it is a steakhouse without good steak. If you want ambience but away from the crowd in Waikiki, it's not a bad choice. All the beachfront hotel restaurants in Waikiki are all mediocre, crowded, and overpriced anyways. All that you're missing here is the ocean view. read more

As would be expected, at least on my part, this was the best meal of my trip. The restaurant itself is beautiful both inside and out on the lanai. The staff was attentive and our waiter walked us through the menu. We started with cocktails and appetizers. I had the ube sour while everyone else had the STHI Mai Tai. The table was also given French fries, in lieu of where most restaurants would provide bread. It came with three dipping sauces (one was ketchup lol) that were all delicious. We ordered the ahi rolls (?) and Instant Bacon, both at the recommendation of our waiter. They were AMAZING. I thought it really set the bar for our main courses. My husband and I shared a filet and the mahi-mahi. I was partial to the dish and its sauce while he really enjoyed the steak a bit more. My recommendation is not to skip the fried rice! It was such a nice touch with both entrees. I wish we had done more dessert but opted for just the ice cream. It was great but everything else just outshined the dessert. 10/10 experience and hope to be back! read more

This was honestly one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! Firstly, the food was nothing short of AMAZING. Literally, every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious. The customer service here was out of this world! Our server, Jet, was such a sweetheart. He made sure everything was to our satisfaction and he was so patient with us, he explained all the food items on the menu and his top favorites, giving us the best food recommendations based on what we liked which turned out to be one of the most delicious meals we've ever eaten. He was so kind and welcoming, and he even threw in a complimentary dessert for my husband as we were there celebrating his birthday. Will start by saying everything in Waikiki is overpriced but this place is a joke. Food here was overpriced and candidly very mid. (Filet was overcooked) No one in our dining party was impressed That said ambience and service was very good but by no means make up for the food nor price. I get that when I order a steak medium at some random place that there's going to be a chance that it get served a bit over medium. But when I'm having to pay $121 along with $4 refills for a diet coke and my steak comes out nearly well done then I'm going to have to say something about it. I try not to ever send food back (as I prefer not having my food tampered with), so I'm not sure what my recourse was. The steak (dry aged NY) still had good flavor and a nice crust but you've gotta be kidding me with how it was probably 5 seconds away from being grey/well done. It looks like people tend to have a good time here, it's unfortunate that I wasn't one of them. Otherwise, the service was great, sides (mac and cheese, whipped potatoes, brussels sprouts) were rich and flavorful, so that I suppose will get a second star. read more

Food: Elegance in your mouth! Service: Server CJ and support staff were attentive and educated. I love asking questions about food I like and want to make. CJ was knowledgeable about the food preparation and was willing to share some helpful tips. Ambiance: outside roof top in San Fran vibe 5 stars!! Yessss!! Party in my mouth. Every bite was met with a sound of the most pleasurable expression. 8 ounce filet was so tender like butter and cooked to perfection! Mac n cheese and Brussels sprouts were to die for. I would give it 5 stars because our waitress Tori was awesome. However, I only gave it 4 stars because for as fancy a place as it supposedly was, with very expensive steaks, we had to ask for more coffee, and I felt several of the other waiters (not Tori) kept coming around a little too often to see if we were ready to have our leftovers packed. We hadn't had dessert yet. In fact, we had to ask for the dessert menu. HOWEVER, the steaks we ordered were delicious, the Brussels sprouts were tasty, mashed potatoes were great. The garlic fried rice was disappointing and had no taste. It was like eating brown rice. All in all, I would say the food made up for any of the negatives (except for the garlic fried rice). This place was our absolute favorite restaurant in Waikiki. We went for my birthday dinner the first night and then made sure we went on our last night in Hawaii before leaving. The service was amazing, Richard was our server the first time and he was awesome, very friendly, payed attention to my husband's food allergies and recommended great items on the menu! Our second server I didn't get his name but he was equally amazing! All the food was SO good, that's why we ended up there twice! Everyone we encountered from seating to filling water or bring out the food was awesome as well! Next visit we will definitely be back and we tell everyone at home when/if they go to Waikīkī, then they have to go to strip steak at least once and they will be so glad they did!! Tried this upscaled steakhouse for the first time and it was not disappointing, although for a significant price. Overall, it was a great place to celebrate special occasion. The steak we ordered medium rare was too well done around outer portion, and the grilled king crab legs were on the salty side; my guess is that they probably from previously frozen and precooked type of package. One interesting observation is the "insane" four little tiny and very thin A5 Wagyu steak strips priced around $60! Honestly, I couldn't really tasted them because of their paper-thinness.
