I recently used Stuart Rentals in Milpitas for a 50th Wedding Anniversary Party. Mark Marini was a pleasure to work with and so helpful and knowledgeable in assisting me in choosing the proper items for my event. He took time to pull rental items from the warehouse for my daughter and I to view and even prepared a place setting with our choice of linens, chargers, flatware and glassware. Being able to view the table set up was extremely helpful as well as to see in scale the actual products. Several times in the weeks leading up to my event, I emailed or phoned Mark to make adjustments in the rental order without a problem or delay. Costs were explained and updated. Delivery and pickup went smoothly. My caterer and I inadvertently forgot to put some rental items on the return truck. That was easily corrected by a phone call to Mark and Stuart without a hassle. I am using Stuart in a couple of months for another event at my home. Again, Mark was more than happy to work with me even though the rentals for this event are much smaller in quantity than the 50th Anniversary. The folks at Stuart rental are super professionals. I had a tears in a friend's tent I had borrowed for a family reunion., and I didnt want to return the tent back to my pal in such a shape. So i called around and landed at Stuart rental. Remember, the tent was not rented from them. Gwen, Tiffany and folks at their maintianence facility checked with their bosses and offered to help me out, and repair the tent in the best possible and timely manner. I rented a cabinet warmer and nacho cheese warmer for our event. The chip warmer's light bulb was out so i had to purchase a new one. When we turned the machine on the bottom started to spark and even shocked me slightly. I called Stuart rental and they said they did not have another i could rent. They did not try to offer me another item nor did they care. when we returned it i was expecting a call from them for a refund. I had to call them and ask them what was happening with my refund. A man on the phone said he would have to call the location and examine it. Never received a call or an email regarding my refund or an apology for the faulty equipment. read more

I highly recommend Stuart Event Rentals! Kerri was my contact and she was very communicative and available to answer questions. I had to make a number of tweaks to our order, and I also had to clarify different logistical issues such as access, delivery and pick-up times, etc., as the event was off-site and not near my residence. So I had to call back a number of times to make sure we were on the same page. Kerri handled everything great. I'd read about another company that was less available by phone to answer unexpected questions that might crop up, and I didn't want to face that problem. This was an important fundraiser and I wanted everything to go smoothly. Kerri did a great job of communicating both with me and her delivery staff. The equipment rentals arrived on time, everything was in order, and the pickup went smoothly, too. I was very relieved to be able to reach Kerri or someone else on the phone whenever I had a question or clarification about the delivery or pick up. I've rented from Stuart before for two big events and had a great experience. Unfortunately, this time around was bad. Dealing with Julia was frustrating and just annoying. The delivery fee was high for us so we decided to have a friend pick up the furniture. We asked Julia to revise by omitting the delivery from the quote. We waited and waited and waited..... to get no response. I got fed up so I signed the stupid quote. I get a call from Julia the next day telling me that they couldn't do the delivery (on the day they quoted). I replied " that's fine, the event isn't until Sunday, Friday is just the day you quoted". She quickly responded with a defensive tone that she didn't receive the signed quote until yesterday which is late notice. Julia, Julia, Julia...you didn't respond to our emails. You just decided to ignore them, probably to make more money on the delivery fee. How dare you have the audacity to put the blame on us? Instead of trying to come up with a solution, she just sat there on the phone while I had to do her job and tell her - again - that the event was on Sunday and the delivery could be on Saturday. Plus the date was ON the order form that she supposedly reviewed. If there's a WILL there's a WAY. If I was a competent worker, I would have had a solution PRIOR to calling a customer....I guess that's if I cared. It's 2013 people. care a little because if you don't, customers will go somewhere else. It's just a click of a button on the internet nowadays to find another eager, willing company...that'll do it with a smile. To me, Stuart Rentals employees are just fed up with dealing with customers and their parties. What a shame -- we just hosted two 150 person parties and went with another rental company that was so easy to work with and for the same price. read more

Rented Samsonite white party chairs for an indoor event in our home. The service was great with the phone order and picking up the chairs. However, I noticed all the chair ends were dirty with mud and grass once I got home. I cleaned them before bringing them into house on the clean carpets. When I tried to return the chairs on Monday morning, the office staff was helpful by saying all the returns would be handled at the loading dock. I drove to the loading dock looking for someone to unload the chairs and no one was there. I yelled inside for assistance. I unloaded the chairs myself and an employee walked by me 3 times. I asked if I was a ghost because he never acknowledged me. I requested assistance and no one helped me. I left the chairs on the ramp and went back to the office to share my experience. The office staff was sorry. This incident occurred at 10:00 am on a Monday. No other groups were unloading rental equipment. Summary: Great ordering service over the phone and picking up the rental chairs. However, Poor quality once I got home and realized the chairs were not cleaned from an outside event. Maybe identify if chairs are to be used inside or outside so a customer can pick the appropriate chair. The return service at the loading dock was awful. Again, I understand if a big truck came in and all staff were busy, but I was the only vehicle there. read more

Stuart Rental provided a long canopy for my wedding reception. They provided excellent customer service and their price, including delivery and setup, was very, very reasonable. I would have liked and preferred my caterer use them for all my rentals but the caterer unfortunately already had a relationship with that other rental company (whose name I won't repeat). The canopy turned out very nice and I was very happy with Stuart. I highly recommend them. One tip, and I didn't totally think this one through, if you're planning to have a single canopy during the day time, consider the angle of the sun. Nuff said. read more

I rented few chairs and tables. Quality of chairs were really bad. One of my guest almost broke her back because of bad chair. I am uploading the image here. Its really sad that they don't periodically check the quality. When i told them, the answer i got was, we do check we will refund for the broken chairs. I asked a business colleague who does events, for the name of the most reliable rental company for tents. She referred me to Stuart Rentals. I talked to Cindy Foster at the Castro Valley office less than two weeks before the event. She sent an installer to evaluate my needs and promptly gave me a quote after the onsite meeting. I changed the order several times before the install date and she promptly adjusted and re-quoted the order each time without complaint. On the appointed date, they set up an 1,800 sq ft tent in approximately 4 hrs. The tent specs and configuration were correct. The invoice was correct. The installer, Roger Cruz, was terrific. He explained everything thoroughly, was very friendly, and very professional. I will ask for him again if I rent from Stuart in the future. Well done. read more

The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because they originally delivered the wrong poles for the cocktail tables and I did not have time to do anything about it before our event, so we had wobbly tables :(. We got our wedding supplies from Stuart Rentals. We were probably in there 5+ times trying to decide which items we wanted and the staff there were very patient with us. The staff working there were always very helpful with providing suggestions when we weren't sure what colors/fabrics/etc. we wanted to use. We ordered a pipe and drape from Stuart Event Rentals for our wedding as a photo booth backdrop. It looked really nice, and was very easy to set up and take down. Mark provided excellent customer service - when we went to pick up and drop off the pipe and drape he was so helpful and friendly and was very excited to hear about our wedding. I absolutely recommend this product and this company - just be sure you have a truck or larger vehicle to transport it in because the poles do not collapse down very short.
