My husband and I visited Stubborn Seed while on vacation in Miami after hearing great things and seeing the Michelin star recognition. We've dined at well over a dozen Michelin-starred restaurants, so we came in excited and with a good sense of what to expect from this style of dining. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The dining room is intimate with a relatively small number of tables, and the open kitchen creates a great atmosphere. The space is dark and moody with unique artwork, comfortable seating, and a level of attention to detail that carries throughout the entire experience. The staff was excellent, attentive without being intrusive, and every interaction felt polished and professional. When making a reservation, you're required to select either the 6-course or 9-course tasting menu in advance. We initially chose the 6-course menu but upgraded to the 9-course because we were concerned the portions might be too small. In hindsight, that concern was justified. The craftsmanship of the food is undeniable. Every dish was beautifully plated and technically impressive. Standout courses included the yellowtail, which had a wonderful lingering spice, and an oyster preparation that incorporated multiple elements and textures in a very creative way. We also added the Australian Wagyu enhancement, which ended up replacing the duck course. While the portion was only a couple of small slices, it was one of the best bites of the evening. The accompanying mushroom, puree, and reduction sauce were outstanding. Dessert was another highlight. The olive oil cake combined fruit, floral elements, cookies, and multiple textures in a way that felt refined and balanced. Nothing throughout the meal was overly rich or heavy-handed. Every course was thoughtful, nuanced, and technically well-executed. For drinks, I highly recommend the Mango Tree cocktail. It tasted like an elevated mango lassi and was one of my favorite parts of the evening. Our biggest criticism is the portion size relative to the price. Even after nine courses, my husband was still hungry at the end of the meal. I was satisfied, but just barely. If you're someone with a larger appetite, I would strongly recommend eating something beforehand or planning for a late-night snack afterward. The wine pricing was also difficult for us to justify. While we understand restaurant markups, several selections felt significantly overpriced compared to what could be purchased at retail. Our final bill for two 9-course tasting menus, two glasses of wine, a cocktail, and the Wagyu enhancement came to over $660 before tip. Overall, Stubborn Seed absolutely delivers on creativity, technique, presentation, service, and atmosphere. If this is your first Michelin-star experience, it's a fantastic introduction to fine dining. However, if you've visited many Michelin-starred restaurants before, be prepared for exceptionally small portions and a very high price point. Would we recommend it? Yes, for the culinary artistry and experience. Would we personally return? Probably not. While we appreciated the quality and craftsmanship, the value proposition wasn't there for us given the portion sizes and overall cost.

The food will take you places. Our journey was magical and special in so many ways. My daughter and I went here for dinner on vacation and I don't know where to start.. we had so many dishes because we choose to go with the full dining experience and it was sooo worth it and I completely understand why they have a Michelin star! Ousters, pork loin, macaron with caviar (life changing) the service was amazing as the staff goes above and beyond explaining each dish to elevate the experience. Being able to see the staff work on each dish and the feel of the restraint fit perfect and as far as the ambiance you can definitely see and feel the chef's personality through the restaurant and employees alike.

Stubborn seed was a bit of an enigma for me, perhaps because I was swept up in the michelin star rating which set my expectations higher. This was without doubt the most casual starred restaurant I've dined at. Service was fine, but should there be missing place settings and lapses in resetting? Runners who brought food ranged from those who knew the dish perfectly to a few who struggled with the ingredients. Now, let's get real, did this diminish my enjoyment? Absolutely not, but it was a surprise. We're accustomed to much more polished service at home and when visiting Miami. Perhaps the biggest negative is that there wasn't a single course that wowed me. Some were very good, and some that I really didn't enjoy. Again, a matter of taste perhaps, and always a risk with a tasting menu. Following that, as others have said, the restaurant is quite dark. I would have loved to be able to better see some of the dishes brought to me. There is no lighting on the table and the room is very dark. The first course (bread) was very nice, and I enjoyed the creative miso butter that accompanied. In contrast, I had high hope for the Raviolo course, but it had an intensely bitter green (think brocolli rabe bitter), and all of us found it off putting. The main course, duck was the strongest of everything served. I would suggest giving a try to decide for yourself, but this was not one of the stronger dinners we've enjoyed in Miami.

We visited this place to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It was my second time here, but on this visit we decided to explore the tasting menu experience. The space is pleasant and well designed--more casual than formal, but still inviting and comfortable. We opted for the 6-course menu. We considered the 9-course option, but the additional items included oysters, foie gras, and clams, which are not our preference. Overall, every dish was excellent. The execution, presentation, and flavor were consistently impressive. The agnolotti was a standout--rich, balanced, and full of flavor. The pavlova was my favorite, with a unique texture and flavor profile that really stood out. The lamb was also very good, though I would have preferred a slightly crispier skin, as it felt a bit soggy. Some of the courses were more like amuse-bouche--very small, one-bite portions that are usually complementary in a tasting menu. Because of this, the experience felt closer to a 4-course meal, including dessert. The pacing between courses was occasionally too long, especially considering the one bite size of some dishes. Based on that , I would prefer to stick with the à la carte menu on a future visit.  For drinks, some of us chose cocktails while others selected the wine pairing. The wine pairing was excellent--well curated, generously poured, and fairly priced. I would definitely recommend it. The cocktails, however, were less consistent. The Facundo and the Corn Whisper were too sweet for a dinner setting, the Heat Wave was too high in acidity, and the "signature" Old Fashioned felt standard. Cocktails also took too long to arrive, although the service made up for the delay by offering one complimentary. Service overall was excellent--friendly, attentive, and very detail-oriented. The presentation of each dish was also carefully executed and added to the experience. Most importantly, the food here is outstanding--easily among the best in Miami. This is definitely a place worth visiting, and one I would happily return to.

Somewhat underwhelming experience across food and service. Stubborn Seed is located in the heart of south pointe where there are tons of good dining options. The restaurant is dimly lit and has a partially open kitchen. The service is not up to par for the type of experience they are trying to convey. Our waiter seemed to struggle to deliver the memorized description of each dish which can really throw a tasting menu off. For the ravioli dish we asked that the pork not be included. No substitution was made at all for the only protein on the dish which was odd enough without our waiter being so matter of fact about the lack of alternative and gawking at us like it was such a strange question. The food was good but not great. We went with the 9 course menu for $175pp. The highlights were the foie gras (but it is a pâté) and the dessert (which is by the pastry chef and was the saving grace of the meal). Our signature cocktails were very good as well. Besides that I do not have too much to say about the food. The biggest let down was the ravioli which was meant to have a runny egg yolk inside but when we broke it apart it was quite set. Overall lackluster experience and it feels like the passion just is not there - if you are well accustomed to tasting menus I would skip this one.

Wow, wow, wow... how have I not come here sooner?! Stubborn Seed in Miami Beach completely blew me away, and it's crystal clear why they've held a Michelin star three years in a row. It's beyond well deserved. We couldn't get a table and ended up at the bar, but honestly, it didn't take away from the experience at all. Our bartender/server was fantastic, recommending cocktails that were spot-on. I had the melin one and loved it and my friend had the corn and tequila cocktail, which sounded unusual but turned out to be incredible. They started us with a little bread and spread that instantly set the tone for the rest of what was to follow ..it was simple yet unforgettable. From there we had the Red Belgian Endive & Summer Peach Salad which was tarragon green, brown butter croutons, Ford's Farm lang yang with a banana & ginger vinaigrette. Unlike any salad I've ever had. Fresh, layered, and bursting with flavor. We also had the Crunchy Truffle Bravas which was like crispy potatoes with garlic crumbs, aged parmesan, and a squeeze of lime. Absolute perfection. For mains, we tried the beef cheeks which were fall apart tender, rich, and deeply flavorfull and the lamb ravioli. Both unforgettable, both so distinct. Dessert was on another level. The Feta Banana Flan with fig caramel and banana vinegar ice cream and the Guava & Cheese Cheesecake with pineapple and cheese ice cream were equally phenomenal. I still can't decide which I loved more. Every dish was so creative ,fresh, unique, and truly a "wow" moment. The service was equally outstanding. Each plate was brought out and presented with an explanation of the ingredients, many of which come straight from the chef's own farm. Talk about next level dining. Stubborn Seed is an absolute must. Worth every bit of hype and recognition. And we came to find out as well that the chef has six other restaurants as well one . He has a stubborn seed in Vegas , one in plantation and launching and opening a new one in Aruba called Terra!

Parking was surprisingly easy--there's a lot very close by and plenty of street parking. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere, and I loved the open kitchen concept. We went for Miami Spice, and while the starters were just okay, the entrees really stood out--full of flavor and perfectly executed. The dessert was absolutely out of this world, and their cocktails were also delicious. Our waiter, Steven, made the experience even better. He was attentive, friendly, and really on top of everything. Overall, the food and service completely won us over. I definitely want to come back to try their elevated tasting menu!

Stubborn Seed has been on my list for years and I finally had the chance to come for their Miami Spice menu and had a wonderful experience. The food, atmosphere and especially service were all outstanding. The Miami Spice menu has 2 choices for each course, so I recommend getting both for each to try. The stand outs were the Beef Cheek and Flan. You could cut the beef with a spoon! We also did the wine pairing, which is a great deal for the amount and caliber of wine you get. Our server was so friendly and attentive, offering complimentary bites and wine top offs. Truly made the night. If you have been wanting to try Stubborn Seed, don't miss out on this great chance to go!

Stubborn Seed was a FANTASTIC dining experience from start to finish. This Michelin star restaurant truly deserves its rating. My friend and I sat at the bar. The restaurant was small and intimate. I loved every single detail from the real plant that was gently placed to secure our dinner napkin to all the dishware and utensils. We ordered and shared the Miami Spice menu which was more than enough food for 2. We were contently full after the entire meal. There were 3 courses per person included in that. We ordered the truffle bravas and peach salad for the first course, the beef cheek and lamb ravioli for the second course, and the flan plus guava/cheese gateau for dessert. With every dish came a unique explosion of multiple flavors in our mouth. The gentlemen that brought the courses to our bar top were extremely knowledgeable and explained each and every dish from start to finish. Everything we ordered was spectacular. The food items were not items you normally saw on a menu. I loved the uniqueness of all the items. Service was on point. Everyone checked in on us every few minutes and all were kind and professional. Again, I have quite an appetite and thought the Miami spice menu was the perfect amount in terms of portion sizing. Wonderful experience!

WOW!!! I was impressed! "Creative" upscale dining like this is typically not my thing, but I was blown away by dinner here. We went for Spice, although two of us do not eat land-based meat and there was only duck and beef as the mains on the Spice menu. We explained that when we were seated and the server offered to substitute the halibut instead for us. Yes, please! Aside from the generous sub, the service was on point! Perfectly attentive and friendly without being overbearing or stuffy! After we ordered, we were brought brioche buns with a savory butter. Delightful! The next little amuse bouche was oysters with a beef tallow foam. The other non-meat eater and myself ceded ours to our dining companions, who enjoyed them very much (pro-tip - they are nestled in a bed of gravel; it is NOT edible!). The starters ordered were the endive salad, the patatas and the sashimi. The endive salad was bright and crisp, with a delightfully umami dressing. I tasted a bite of the sashimi and that was the only disappointment. The fish seemed a bit mealy and tasted quite fishy. I skipped sampling the patatas as they were truffled, something that I do not like! The halibut was a delight! Tender, flaky with a delicate broth and a ripe tomato garnish. The desserts were not overly sweet and of course, presented in a lovely manner, worthy of a Hollywood handshake! I thought the dining room was kind of blah and industrial, but I get that the focus is really on the food, and not the atmosphere. The acoustics were not great either... it was naturally very loud, and nearing the end of our meal, the volume was turned up on the music, adding to the noise. We had brought a good bottle of wine and the corkage was $50. All in all, this meal was quite memorable!

Eating my way through Miami and Stubborn Seed absolutely stole the crown. One-Michelin-star, farm-to-table cooking from Top Chef Season 13 winner Jeremy Ford, tucked near the southern tip of South Beach. I went with the 6-course tasting (with plenty of surprise extras along the way). The full lineup included: Yellowfin tuna with tomato consommé, French Farms watermelon radish, and kombu citrus granita; Truffle cheddar jalapeño popper with truffle emulsion and winter black truffle; Braised leek & gruyère raviolo with potato espuma; Crispy smoked pork belly with shallot sofrito, egg yolk, and a potato nest; Lime-jalapeño granita palate cleanser; Honey-glazed duck with turnip, pine nuts, Lion Farms mushrooms, sour cherry, and spiced honey; Citrus pavlova with candied pistachio, yuzu curd, olive oil cake, mandarin basil sorbet, and matcha meringue. Standouts for me: The jalapeño popper--piping hot, shatter-crispy, and explosive with black truffle flavor. The raviolo--creamy, cheesy, decadent, and deeply comforting. And the dessert, which I wasn't expecting to love but absolutely crushed it--the chew of the candied pistachios paired with the tart yuzu and mandarin was outstanding. The duck was a new feature that night and, while the flavor pairing with sour cherry worked beautifully, it was tougher to cut and chew than duck usually is. I shared that feedback when directly asked, and the response was textbook Michelin-level hospitality: the chef personally sent out their signature truffle chicken, layered with gravy, potato, and Brussels sprouts over a perfectly sous-vide chicken breast I could slice with a stern look. Incredible. This was my favorite meal in Miami--an exceptional value for the cuisine, service, and care Chef Ford and his team deliver at Stubborn Seed. Highly recommend. @stubborn_seed #StubbornSeed #MichelinStar #MiamiEats #SouthBeachDining #TopChef #JeremyFord #TastingMenu #FarmToTable #FineDining #Foodie #FoodPorn #MiamiFood #ChefDriven #HospitalityDoneRight #WorthIt #BathboyEats

I feel the need to rave about Stubborn Seed because this place absolutely blew me away. I visited during a Miami trip and I'm SO glad I chose this restaurant. I went with the 3-course amuse menu at $85 + tax. For Michelin-starred dining, this is incredibly reasonable. And here's the kicker - they DON'T automatically add that 20% service charge that seems to be standard everywhere else in Miami. They started me off with a soft, delicate roll served with butter shaped like a flower - such a lovely touch. The food quality was excellent throughout. My only critique: the Seared Berkshire Porkchop (my 2nd course) was quite heavy on cinnamon, which wasn't mentioned in the menu description. As someone who's not a cinnamon fan, I would've appreciated the heads up. Service is impeccable: This is what separates Stubborn Seed from every other fine dining spot I've been to. There were one or two gentlemen constantly circulating the dining room, checking on every table. When I mentioned the cinnamon issue to the first staff member, he said "I will make sure the kitchen know". When another gentleman (possibly the manager) asked about my meal, I mentioned the same issue with the overwhelming cinnamon taste and smell, and that it should be noted on the menu. He apologized sincerely, and later surprised me with a small complimentary caviar course. I wasn't expecting anything - just wanted to provide feedback - but this gesture showed they genuinely care about the guest experience. I was celebrating my birthday, and in addition to the dessert from the 3-course menu, they brought out an additional dessert with "Happy Birthday" carved into the plate and a candle on top. It was adorable, and delicious! Such a thoughtful touch! The dessert, which is the 3rd-course, was very beautifully presented and it taste amazing. Even after leaving, I was still thinking about how amazing everything was. This is hands-down the best Michelin-starred restaurant I've ever visited - yes, even compared to two and three-star establishments. The combination of exceptional service, great food, reasonable pricing, and genuine hospitality is unbeatable. If you're in Miami, do NOT skip Stubborn Seed. It's an absolute must, and I'm already planning my return visit!

Prices are par of the course on Ocean Drive, take that as you may. They also have the 20 percent automatic tip and a prompt to add more. I ordered a glass of Cab Sab to avoid a cocktail that's more mixer than alcohol and that was actually pretty good. The wine was nice and full bodied. Next up was my $26 Americano Burger with fries. The fries were nice and crispy, and I had them with more than a couple of the little packs that reminded me of elementary school instead of a squeeze bottle like I'm used to from other restaurants. I asked for bbq sauce to dip the fries, and got it after I was done with the fries so I used it instead with the burger. I asked for said burger with no pickles and medium well. While the temperature of the burger was as requested, the burger was overly salty and the American cheese seemed like the squeezable "cheese whiz" type. Also guess what offensive condiment was in the bottom bun? Yes the pickles! While I started to eat the burger keto style (without the bun) I left most of it. While the waitress said she had put the order as no pickle, maybe the kitchen messed up my request.

The atmosphere feels energetic without being overwhelming, and the music sets the mood really well and they have TV in case that's important to you lol. The food absolutely stands out -- everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The menu has a great variety, and you can tell they really care about quality and presentation. Drinks were just as impressive: well-balanced cocktails, strong pours, and creative options if you're in the mood to try something new. Service was friendly, attentive, and fast without feeling rushed. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations, which always makes the experience even better. Overall, Bar Luca delivers great food, great drinks, and great energy. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and recommend if you're looking for a cool place to eat out in Miami.

Happy hour clocks in at $12 for food, $12 for all house cocktails, $10 spritzes, and a flat $6 for all beer, which in Miami Beach feels almost suspicious in the best way possible. I kept it simple with an ice cold Peroni while my wife went for the Giardino 75, a gorgeous little spritz built on Empress Indigo Gin, St. Germain, mint, lime, and prosecco. She loved it. The color alone was worth the ten bucks, but it actually drank as good as it looked. For food we shared the Bolognese Grilled Cheese and let me tell you, this thing punches well above its $12 price tag. Thick cut brioche toast, griddled until the edges go deep golden brown, stacked over a rich slow simmered bolognese with cheese pulling through every bite. Dusted with parmesan and fresh herbs, plated with cherry tomato skewers that added a nice little pop of acidity. Comfort food dressed up for a night out. Service was attentive and easy, drinks came quick, plates came hot, and nobody made us feel rushed even sitting through happy hour. The room itself has that playful Sicilian energy with the Moor head planters and bright touches throughout, which fits the vibe of the menu perfectly. Would I make a special trip back to Miami Beach for it? Probably not from Fort Myers, but if you're already in the area during happy hour, this is one of the better values you'll find on the beach. Solid four stars. Good drinks, good food, great specials, and service that actually showed up.

We also ordered the chicken, and the portion was so generous that it genuinely surprised us. The fried green tomatoes were delicious, the soup was excellent, the bread was fantastic, and the wine complemented everything perfectly. Beyond the food, the atmosphere and ambiance were simply incredible. This is one of those places where every detail comes together to create a memorable dining experience. The service was equally impressive--friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. No star rating feels high enough for the experience we had here. We were extremely pleased with the food, the flavors, the service, and the overall atmosphere. I will absolutely return on my next trip. Thank you for such a memorable evening.

Our waiter Nick was PHENOMENAL at his job and so so kind. We tried the large stone crab claws of course and although I liked how much meat you get compared to other crab / lobster, it tasted of very little and was kind of semi frozen almost? The sauce to dip in was really good. As for the sides, I liked them! Nothing was mind blowing but they were good. My favorite were the grilled tomatoes with spinach and cheese. SO flavorful and cheesy. The corn was pretty average, just mostly limey. I did really like the potatoes lyonnaise though perhaps some cheese would've brought it to the next level.

For food I ordered the tres leches French toast. The were delicious. Different than most restaurants. The size / shape are unique like large French toast sticks. Crispy exterior with a extremely soft interior. The caramel sauce and whipped cream were the perfect balance. I also ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and a matcha. The match was ok it wasn't anything to write home about. My other party had on letters which were good with potato's. Also tea which they served with a actual tea pot and mini honeys. You feel special, flattered, and excited to sit down. And then... poof. As soon as you are seated, it is like you evaporated from their memory. You are there, but apparently invisible, and suddenly all that charm vanishes. The food came out cold, which would have been fine if it were still tasty, but sadly, it was neither warm nor particularly good. They took it away to "fix it," but the damage was done. I lost track of how many times I saw our waiter after that, and unfortunately, it wasn't enough to make up for what I paid or for the experience that had already gone off the rails. You can forgive a small mistake, but when the cold food and disappearing service team are combined, it feels like a comedy of errors. So let me give you some friendly advice: stay away. Stay away. Stay away. Unless you are looking for a dining experience that doubles as a lesson in how quickly customer service can vanish, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I'll admit it had story value for me, and I left with a funny tale to tell, but as far as eating out in Miami goes, there are far better options that won't make you question if you were ever seated in the first place.

It was their trivia night, I believe there was a $1500 pot if you win. Everyone seemed to be playing. We arrived to late to join. The place was packed yet there were only two servers. Our server was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. However she managed to keep up with out party of 9. There were times we were waiting for assistance however we could see she wasn't just sitting on her ass. We order burgers, flat breads, tenders and steak tacos. Steak tacos were horrible Burgers were delicious Flatbread were good Tenders definitely looked like they were frozen tenders from the grocer. The beverages were nice not too strong but not weak. We were kinda profiled however as a black person you get use to it. My husband and brother stepped out for a smoke break..although everyone else was still seated at the table. We watched security run out after them. We laughed cause they looked stupid. When security ran out there they pretended to be looking at something when they noticed they guys were right outside the door. Irish pub we didn't expect any less. However it was kinds funny how the guy darted out after them then aimlessly looked around after he realized they were smoking a cigarette ‍

I realized that I had not actually been to this location since it was The Playwright (or whatever it was called) 4 or 5 years ago. The updated interior is nice - very "pubby" - and they offer a good variety of seating from bar seats to high-tops to couches. Two things here that were standouts: First, the burger is one of the best burgers I've had on South Beach. So much so that I'm craving it again this morning. They've done a good job with the menu in that it still has all those bar foods that you look for in a place like this, but they've put some thought into elevating a number of items (e.g. the short rib poutine!) Second, the service was great. Our server (sorry, can't remember his name - a nice guy from Kendall) was very friendly and provided excellent service. As many reviews mention, this is definitely a place to watch a game. While we weren't there for this purpose last night, the TV setup is great and I could def see myself camping out there with a few beers on a weekend afternoon. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I'll be back again for sure.
