I had the opportunity to throughly enjoy the excellent food and service at this downtown Miami restaurant recently. I was part of a large group and our meal was served family style. Service was excellent except for one glitch, see the end of the review. For appetizers we had the mixed green salad, tomato and burrata, and gambas al ajillo served with house focaccio. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. The main courses included the seared salmon with beluga lentils, chicken tagine, and mushroom risotto. The risotto was the best I've had. The salmon also was perfectly cooked. The chicken deliciously spiced; the couscous was either undercooked or needed to be fluffed. No room for dessert, but who could resist. The tropical paradise with mango mousse was the best. The tahini brownie was delicious, but odd. The desert rose was not at all baklava. It was a nest of kataifi and somehow missed the target. Some of these dishes appear on the restaurants Miami Spice menu - I recommend them all. My only comment was that there were lots of leftovers. We were not able to take away any leftovers. Would this be the case if you were dining with your family? Food waste is such a problem in our country. Perhaps this restaurant is part of a system that donates food to shelters. read more

It's not the only reason, but I big reason I always try to stay at the JW Marriott Marquis is because Boulud Sud sits just off the main lobby. I love to sit at its elegant bar and just people watch and listen in while sipping one of their amazing cocktails and noshing an app or two. This time I'd already been to a business dinner so had an after dinner Negroni - and when I saw the duck empanada on the menu I could not say "no" to this dish being "dessert." For me there were two highlights: the beef tartare and the cheesecake desert. Although the cod was also pretty good. The shrimp were amazing. The octopus was saved by the extra sauce from the shrimp. The service is what killed my experience. I had to wait (at the bar) for anyone to notice me because the two bartenders were too busy flirting with each other to pay attention to anything but the tickets coming in and each other. I ordered food and a wine when they finally noticed my existence - I was seated by a hostess. The wine never showed so I had to interrupt the lovebirds to ask for the glass I had ordered. I took another star off because I was not told, nor is it made explicit that there would be an 18% service charge. I always tip over 20%, even with poor service. As a regular here, I really enjoy the ambience and the service. The food is good to be located in a hotel. I've come for happy hour and lunch and you get better deals. However, if you come for dinner, you won't be disappointed. If you enjoy Mediterranean cuisine, you'll love this place. It's classy and formal dining in the back, and a more casual lounge atmosphere by the bar with the comfy chairs. The free focaccia with olive oil is very good! Absolute 10/10! The prestige of Boulud Sud is everything aesthetic that a girl could wish for. Embedded in the gorgeous JW Marquis Marriott Hotel, my friend and I stopped by here for dinner after checking into the hotel and getting our bags settled in the room. When you walk into the entrance way, what really stands out is the decor. It's beautiful, modern, chic with somewhat of a bohemian vibe with basket lounge chairs spread out. The host sat us down and our waiter was with us within a minute of seating, so very prompt. He was really interactive with us, giving us great recommendations and was cherry. My friend and I had a great time - I docked one star because my first cocktail that came out had a dead fly in it! When I brought it up to the waiter, he was very accommodating but tried to insinuate that it couldn't have been from the bartender lol the bartender made the drink so......where else could it have come from? Either way he replaced the drink so no problem, but I had noticed halfway through my initial drink so there's that. I say all that to say, it's an amazing restaurant! While staying at the hotel, they serve breakfast-dinner and can be ordered for room service. All in all, great experience with them. read more

I came here for Miami Spice 2023, and I would highly recommend this restaurant for Miami Spice! - Oysters topped with caviar: not a big fan of oysters so I guess it tasted good? I just wish the portion size was bigger since my friend got the lamb meatballs and got three large meatballs. - New york strip steak (medium rare): DELICIOUS I'm pretty picky about my steak and was utterly ecstatic to have a good piece of steak. There was a bordelaise sauce which brought the whole dish of meat and veggies together. Normally I hesitate with wine based sauces since I don't like the taste of wine but they balanced the sauce well so there was no jarring wine flavor. - Fresh focaccia with olive oil: Give me a cup of olive oil and a loaf of this bread and I could just make a meal of them. One of my favorite parts of high end restaurants are the fresh bread and high quality olive oil and Boulud Sud definitely lives up to it. - Chocolate coupe: I'm a mousse girly and this made me very happy, especially with the crunchy layer on the bottom. The different layers added contrast, and it wasn't heavy so I felt just the right amount of fullness at the end of my meal. The service was fantastic and my server was very attentive and sweet. My only wish, was that the Branzino was bigger!! The seating is an open setting, with tables pretty close together- however it still had a date night feel. Shrimp appetizer was a good yummy portion. Top shelf service and ambiance in a downtown Miami business district. Stopped in for lunch and enjoy the bargain of all bargains. The Executive lunch was $35 for three courses and accompanied by an ice cold glass of cava made it a perfect lunch. Similar to the price fixed lunch menus of France, there were 3 choices for starter and entree and two for dessert. The fattoush salad was enormous and flecked with beautiful watermelon radish slivers, pomegranate seeds and crispy pita. The burrata salad was surrounded by fresh peppery arugula and both were lightly dressed. Next was a perfectly grilled ( cross marks included) branzino fillet over a nicely spiced bet of couscous. Large fillet and very moist. Last was a scoop of raspberry sorbet -- not too sweet. The perfect ending. Service was well timed and efficient. Well done!! read more

Camillo was very helpful with some suggestions. Multiple people at the bar also seemed to be having the same enjoyable time that I was. Extremely clean dining room with some superb menu options, including one dessert (and I rarely order desserts) that was superb. Easy to recommend the Baklava Cake, and also easy to recommend the Grilled Branzino. The crafted cocktails at the bar are pretty exquisite as well. We had already eaten a bit before coming, but that didn't stop us from trying quite a few dishes! Grilled Calamari - really enjoyed the sauce with this dish! Also perfect texture of the calamari itself - chewy; but not tough. Tuna Tartare - truffle, with tuna? I'm sold! This was possibly my favorite dish of the night; perfectly balanced between the tuna and the truffle flavors. Mezze Platter - this was a lot of food, actually! I enjoyed all of the dips; surprisingly, my favorite may have been the muhammara. Super tasty! Seafood Malfaldine - A bit spicy but not too spicy (so perfect for me)! Staying in downtown Miami over the weekend we wanted a classy restaurant to end 2023. We were able to find a table for two tucked away in a corner. The ambiance is very nice, classy with the staff as friendly as ever. Our server approached us with cocktail options and we chose our usual old fashioned and wine. At 8pm the place was quiet but you can sense that would change. Lamb Meatballs for appetizer. Five (5) small balls covered in a soft spicy sauce accompanied with focaccia bread. At first I thought, that's it? But, the portion was perfect. The tenderness of the lamb with a small kick of spice was a great way to start off dinner. Our server sold us on the Dover Sole for two, prepared table side. Took a little bit, but the GM arrived with a table presented us a cooked fish and started the deboning process. In a matter of seconds, the fish was completely fileted, out came the bones and we were presented with a delicate and tasty fish. Definitely worth it. For dessert, something light was presented off the menu that featured pistachio ice cream. Overall, the place was good and would recommend for a nice dinner for two. read more

Miami Spice 2022: we were greeted with a falafel ball as an amouse bouche. It was a nice touch but didnt add much to our meal with regards to flavor. The spice menu lacked a bit in their appetizer options, with their gazpacho coming as a miniscule serving in a shot glass. The beet salad was also on the smaller side, but it was served all the way on one side of the plate, making it look like the plate was thrashed around on its side in transit. The cod entree was pretty tasty but very dry. I know cod tends to be on the drier side, but i've had it prepared much better in less high-end establishments. The chocolate dessert was served in a martini glass and was very tasty with many different components and textures to it. One big pro of the restaurant is that they offer over 200 wines by the glass, so you are sure to find something thatvsuits your palate and pairs well with the meal without having to purchase a whole bottle. read more

What a gem! We don't have enough superlatives to heap praise on the staff and experience. Conveniently located in the lobby serving lunch and dinner, with a wine list that will make wine geeks (like me) drool. They have a HUGE by the glass selection, driven by Coravins and stand up storage. We stopped in about 2pm for some "bites" as we missed lunch during our Everglades tour. Seeing the BTG offers we jumped on an Italian flight and a White Flight. Bites were delicious and wines were excellent. Our server James was the best, and offered some safe advice. "Skip your visit to Miami Beach tonight" - logic being Spring Break. Turns out several shootings occurred later that night and a curfew imposed!!! So we stayed for dinner in the bar area, and met the head Sommelier snd Beverage Director- Robert - coincidentally - and hours later - after a tasty dinner, and hanging with another couple who sailed in - plus multiple terrific wines... Booked dinner for my wife and me. Ordered from the Miami spice menu. I got the beef carpaccio which was a rock, frozen solid, totally inedible, had to send it back. My wife got the burrata salad with heirloom tomatoes which was very tasty. For the entree she got the hanger steak medium and they nailed the cook. I got the zucchini risotto which was crunchy and undercooked, it needed at least 5 more minutes cooking. Had to send that dish back too. I booked this restaurant mainly for the name on the door but sadly the kitchen team totally destroyed my dining experience with their lack of attention to the dishes they were sending out. Dessert were tasty. And service from Arun was excellent, he was attentive yet not intrusive. And I know it was not his fault the kitchen kept making mistakes. We will not return. Overall I DO NOT recommend Boulud Sud Miami for dinner when there are several other restaurants in Brickell who consistently never miss the mark. read more

Our waitress was so nice and the people that would bring out our food was very polite and attentive as well. We started off with East Coast oysters, 3 for $10, which were so good also got their spicy hummus, which was delicious. Lastly we got the flatbread which I have to say was so good. The night before I came down for a burger and fries and the next morning I did the brunch. It was really nice to have a get away and not have to order food through Uber or DoorDash. We went to Boulud Sud for their Mothers Day brunch, which was a rare find amongst the many Mother Day brunch offerings in Miami! For just $45/person, each member of my party was given 3 courses, and for an additional $35 we could enjoy bottomless cocktails on top of this. The offerings were solid, with the standouts being the Steak and Eggs, the Garlic Shrimp and the Apple Baklava. While I was excited the try the Lamb Bolognese, it was a little disappointing on the flavor side, lacking a bit of seasoning and opting for a generic Spaghetti noodle that did nothing to cling to the meat sauce. Outside of that, everything was very good! I would be remiss if I did not mention the wonderful service. The staff was incredibly attentive, and made sure our mimosa glasses were always full. I think this may be the restaurant in miami that I have visited the most, but unfortunately I do not see myself coming back anytime soon. Still the same beautiful space, classy, and elegan. We had drinks at the bar before dinner , and they were good. The guava caipiriña, will need to acent the guava flavor a little bit more though. For dinner we had granache-merlot blend wine that was excellent and well priced. The food was average, very nondescript. The bacalao croqueta did not taste like anything, the duck empanadas were overpriced for what they were, the gazpacho was very tasty but a super small portion , the cod was hard and dry and with a bitter taste at the end , the lamb was just ok. The worst was the time we have to wait for the food, and the restaurant just had about four tables only occupied. We had to wait around 30 minutes for the croquetas at the bar, so they arrived when the drinks were almost done. For the main course we had to wait 45 minute after the appetizer, and no one came to our table to explain what was going on. Dessert, that was btw ice cream, took 10 minute to bring it. We asked if there were problems at the kitchen , but they said everything was ok - that it is the normal time . At the end our service gave us a 20% of our check for the inconvenience, and that added 1 more star to our review, to make 3. The service in general was good : they were very polite and nice and our server showed professionalism and carisma. They had a very good wine selection, with a very reasonable range of prices. We first discovered Boulud Sud for their happy hour- which is one of the best in the downtown/brickell area! They have an amazing wine by the glass selection, delicious small bites and incredible happy hour pricing. The lounge/bar area is beautiful and spacious and has quickly become one of our favorite places to invite new friends to join us for a drink. At happy hour, we got to know Robert, the amazing manage and sommelier at Boulud Sud, who told us about their weekly wine tastings. Every Friday night you can join a group wine tasting and sample 5 different wines and 5 small bites prepared by their new amazing chef. Everything about the experience was superb. The wines were incredible and included bottles we would have never thought to try but ended up loving. Robert is a great host and extremely knowledgeable. The service with Elian was top tier. The bites included foie gras, lobster, and the most delicious oysters. We want to come back every Friday night, now! If you've never been to Boulud Sud, it's definitely worth a try. It's also one of the few spaces in Miami that can easily accommodate large groups like bridal showers, corporate events, birthday parties. This restaurant is inside the JW Marriott but also has its own street entrance. There are two floors for dining or outside dining if you prefer. The ambiance is quiet and serene. There is a huge bar area with big screen television. We experienced a warm greeting and outstanding service. They offer house made focaccia bread with olive oil for dipping. We ordered truffle fries that tasted like sour cream and onion potatoes. We didn't get a photo before we consumed them-they were that good. The halibut was a huge piece of fish and it was piping hot. It was buttery and flakey with the mushrooms underneath. The short ribs were delicious! They were tender and the carrots were cooked to perfection. It was a lot more food than what it appeared. I'd visited the former D.B. Bistro many times and enjoyed it a lot, but Mr. Boulud decided to change things up, possibly to make it a healthier option for the nearby business crowd. Unfortunately that makes it less worthy of a drive downtown for me personally (I guess my French dining dollar now goes to Le Zoo, which has a $25 byob fee and is closer to me anyway). Prices are high, and nothing really impressed me, even things that easily could, like the "octopus a la plancha" (a meager and uninspired appetizer) or the risotto (which had only 3 dime-sized pieces of lobster). There are so many places to dine in Miami in 2019 in this price range now, that I wouldn't waste a trip to BS (which here has a double meaning), though it's fine if you work nearby, stay in the attached hotel, or if you come for the happy hour from 5-8pm, where the frozee (frozen rose) for $6 is a great value compared to the regular $15 price. Also a good tapas deal on Tuesday, which I'd definitely hit if I was in the area on a Tuesday. read more
