Lorenzo brought my hair back to a healthy vibrant shine; he took the red undertone out, perfected my base color and has given me beautiful blonde highlights. She cuts & shapes my hair according to my growth patterns & hair 'whorls', and she gave me tips on how to blow dry so that I am able to maintain the style between visits. I was in Newport Beach for a few days on vacation and was in desperate need of a haircut and style. Recently moved to AZ I haven't been able to find a hairdresser I like so I figured I would try Studio 4. I called on a Monday morning and they were able to get me in later that afternoon. My stylist was Jeni and she was amazing! From the second meeting her I was confident she knew exactly what I wanted. She cut and styled my hair exactly how my old hairdresser would. Long story short: 2 words, 1 miracle worker: Steven Webber. Long story..long: So I go "Babe, I thinks I wanna go blonde again.." @marmadooks goes "Sigh, I know someone" and 3 weeks later (Yes, Steven is a popular man) and I'm at Studio 4 Salon, sitting in my car, in a very existential mood, wondering how the hell I allowed myself to wander into Fashion Island. I think "Damn, I have plaster on my shirt from renovating @oclashstudio. I look like crap. Why would he send me to NB looking like this. He really hates me.""They're probably gonna make me wear one of those ridiculous smocks." "They're probably gonna offer me wine. God, I hate wine." All these thoughts came true as I walked in. I didn't pay much attention to the front desk person and they didn't pay much attention to me but they did hand me a smock. Not sure what to do with myself, I sat down. Jessika-Stevens adorable assistant- greeted me with more energy than all my 3 children combined and told me to put my smock on and Steven was almost done. I didn't. I sat again. What happened next was nothing short of God coming down from the heavens and blessing the magic foils Steven and Jessika put on my head. I am almost halfway blond from a very, very dark brown and I'm also NOT bald, which was more than I could ask for, for a "dark dark brown-Asian haired-wanna be blond today" request. My hair's actually pretty healthy considering I've abused the life out of it these past few years. It's not breaking off like it did with previous bleaching. Steven and Jessika, put in work and I feel and look fabulous. But, most importantly my hair is healthy. A little snip snip and I was outta there like a bat outta hell. BEWARE OF HAVING EDDIE CUT AND DYE YOUR HAIR. I had my hair cut and colored here 2 months ago by Eddie. After careful consideration, here is my opinion based on my experience: 1. WORST hair dye job ever in 20 years of my dying my hair. Color far darker than requested. Lines where hair dyed at roots unmistakably obvious. No blending on rest of hair. Very unflattering. Went back afterwards and instead of doing any correction Eddie just told me to grow it out. Not what I paid $200 for. Washed it out over ensuing weeks and put a $10 bottle of L'Oreal on top of it - now it looks better, sadly. 2. WORST hair cut in years. I have wavy and voluminous hair. Very long (before he chopped it). I told him to get rid of volume and weight by slicing through my hair with scissors. He told me he wanted to use a razor, and I told him that would add volume. Guess what? He used the razor and I WAS RIGHT. MY HAIR IS A MESS. There is nothing I can do to control the now-additional-volume Eddie added with the texturizing he did except a ponytail. Considering I told him what to do and why the razor would not work, and he disputed that and did it anyway, he is 100% responsible for his shoddy haircut. And for reasons I cannot understand Eddie is who the salon manager recommended. Not only did I waste $200 but moreover I have to wait 5 months for my hair to grow out, because the subsequent stylist had to cut it all off to even up the texturized mess. Have since found a great and less expensive and more talented stylist who is nearby and doesn't hold this salon in high regard. No wonder. read more

James Hart is the B E S T stylist, hands down!! He was so friendly right from the start and did an in-depth consultation, which is SO important to me. I did Balayage for the 1st time and was so pleased with the final look!! He took so much time & care to make sure the color turned out perfect (& more importantly the way I was hoping it would) & styled it beautifully. He even saw a little layer that was uneven and trimmed it right up for me :) He has a great way with clients and will take great care of you!! You almost feel like you've known him for years. Over the years I have done different shades of reds and browns and every time he does my hair it looks perfect with minimal damage. David File is PHENOMENAL! I've been coming to David for 17yrs, I followed him from Crew Salon to Studio 4 and I will gladly follow that man wherever he goes. I recently saw him for a color correction (NEVER USE BOX COLOR!) So, my girlfriends and I decided to color our own hair one evening, I mean how hard could this be, right? All I wanted to do was coverup some gray hairs and initially thinking this couldn't be that hard... Umm needless to say it was a terrible idea! I sent David a text at 9pm on a Friday night with a picture of my then orange hair, yes, ORANGE hair! David immediately texted back and said he would come in early on a Saturday to fix my color, I met him at 8am and voila I was back to normal dark brown. Also, for cuts, he consistently kills it! We've done short wavy rocker layers to lovely long locks, I usually just sit in the chair tell him to "work his magic" and I've never been disappointed. read more

Craig Allen, stylist at Studio 4, has a gift. He has been doing my hair for over 15 years. It all started with a super cute "up-do" when my hair was barely shoulder length. My mom now goes to him, too and she absolutely loves him. He has a talent for hair cutting, styling and color! He has excellent judgment about what is the best for you and I always leave feeling like a star! He LOVES doing hair! And it shows. He did my hair for my wedding, many events and for everyday. I am always happy that he keeps my husband and career in mind when coming up with new looks for me. Once, in a pinch, I did bring my toddler children to the salon - had little snacks and DVDs on the computer and they were able to hang out on their nice leather couches -- don't think the place is for kids but they are cool if you have to bring them (my kids loved it there, too). Over the years, I have tried a couple of other stylists because I am about on hour from Newport, but always have gone back to Craig because he knows how to get it right! I highly recommend him!! I have been going to Melissa and she has done wonders to my hair. I've had my color evened out and matched perfectly. Recently I wanted a more natural color with some blonde and She recent colored my hair from a very very dark brown almost black to straight up blonde!!! I was amazed at how well it turned out and I love it. She listens to what you want color and cut wise and she delivers. I went to go see nick, and I had a lovely day at the salon today :) I came in at 11 and stayed there until 3ish.. But all the time was needed to lift and get my ombré done. I didn't want to get highlights or just dip my hair in a dye for my ombré I wanted to get the bayalage ombré (which is painting the dye not putting it in foil so it's more natural) and he did just that. Super nice guy! I wanted my hair to be less orangey as Asian hair picks up a lot of red anytime you color ur hair.. Any color, and I still wish it was less reddish so I'm gonna let my hair breathe for a little and go back to get it more blonde. I know he was trying to keep my hair healthy so couldn't drastically change my color so right now I have like rose gold ombré. Overall very happy with the giant salon and nick :) he's only there mon-wed so book him accordingly :) read more

Moved recently from LA and was getting my hair done by a guy in Beverly Hills who did a great job, but I just didn't want to drive all the way to LA. I found studio 4 through yelp and we really, really nervous to change stylists without a recommendation. I ended up getting Summer as my stylist and she did an amazing job with my color. I'm super picky and have a lot of hair, so it was such a welcome relief to find someone on the first try who did such a good job. I always need to book at least two weeks in advance for him because he's so popular. He's especially great with Brazilian blowouts, ombré highlights, and precision cuts.
