Overall it's a tiny place. The records are organized by genre and a-z. I went through every record they had and nothing jumped out at me. They had artists I liked but not the specific records. I would consider this collection to be relatively small, but that's not a bad thing necessarily. The reason I give 3 stars is because the prices are too high in my opinion. They are selling used records for more than the price new, and new records for more than what other places sell. If it was a little more that would be fine, and I don't mind supporting small businesses, but this was noticeably expensive by 1.5-2X.

I came through in the hopes I'd find a computer mouse (needed one STAT, albeit temporarily) and scored a brand new one here for $6. It used to be convenient to pull up to their parking lot and someone would assist at their loading dock. It's more of a hassle now and the workers aren't as friendly. I also saw a worker pull out a pair of newer athletic shoes out of a bin. I don't want to speculate, but seemed a little fishy. I saw another Donation Center on Artesia Blvd. closer to Hermosa Beach. Strong Recommendation for Phil and Downsizing Solutions…read more It's so important to hire someone who truly knows what they're doing when handling an estate sale. Unfortunately, my recent sellers chose a company on their own, and in my opinion, they were greatly taken advantage of. The experience reminded me just how exceptional Phil and his team at Downsizing Solutions are. Phil is, without question, one of the best estate sale professionals I've ever worked with. To give some perspective, the company my sellers used spent only three days going through the home, while Phil typically dedicates two to three weeks to carefully sort, organize, and price everything so each item is displayed and visible. This particular home was filled with high-end items, many brand new and countless tools and collectibles stored in every room and closet. The other company didn't set up enough display tables, leaving many valuable items unseen and underpriced. In contrast, Phil and his team use every available space, even setting up tables in the backyard if needed, ensuring that everything is visible and well-presented. Phil consistently draws large crowds, often with hundreds of people lined up before the sale even opens, and his sales generate strong returns for sellers. He also goes above and beyond after the sale, working closely with clients to organize donations and provide documentation for tax write-offs. It's difficult to see clients taken advantage of, especially when they simply didn't know the difference in quality and professionalism among estate sale companies. I did recommend Phil, but they chose someone who was personally connected to the deceased. It was a hard lesson learned, and I want to make sure others don't have the same experience. If you ever need someone reliable, professional, and truly dedicated to helping clients get the best results from an estate sale, I can only recommend Phil and Downsizing Solutions. Had a terrible experience with Phil from Downsizing Solutions LA at one of his sales recently…read more He says his sales are organized - far from it and there's a serious lack of communication between team members. His team all seemed to be unhappy. I would be too if I worked for a short-tempered and crooked boss like him. If you're a good judge of character, just take one look at him and you can tell he's not a good guy. Watch out for being overcharged! He'll take the opportunity any chance he can. I witnessed him overcharging another customer, and then it happened to us immediately after. When the other customer brought it to his attention, he forcefully and rudely handed her the money back while borderline cursing at her. Unbelievable. We're the only reason why you're even in business, buddy! When we brought to his attention about us being overcharged, we got nothing but attitude and rudeness. We were finally able to recover the money he shorted us, only after having to threaten to report him. Avoid this company. There are dozens and dozens of other estate sale companies to support. Message to Phil: You should consider being a politician instead...better fit for you.

While I was purusing, I heard the sales associates helpiing others with book searches and book club information. It sounds like they have a number of book clubs going at the same time which makes me green with envy. Somebody please open a bookstore like this in Santa Clarita Valley, Ca.! At the time of my visit there was a children's reading event going on in the children's section. There were young adults picking out their spring break reads. There is also a courtyard and coffee shop somewhat attached. I did not try the coffee, but will the next time I am in Manhattan Beach. This is a charming bookstore, well designed, with sooo many staff picks and recommendations. Make sure to pay them a visit when you are in the area.
