I happened upon Studio Antiques, while walking down the street, back to my Airbnb rental. What a rad little spot, with the nicest owners you'll ever meet! I love a good antique shop and thrift shop, so this place was a dream come true, the perfect spot to spend an hour browsing. The ghost town out back was really cool, and it was fun wandering around the store, chatting with Sally, and digging around for some finds. If I lived local, I no doubt would've left with many things, as it was, I left with a couple of goodies that were reasonably priced! read more

My friend and I have visited Studio Antiques several times to buy vinyl and have never failed to find something interesting. We've not spent less than two hours per trip. There were always new records each visit. Sally saves items of interest for us knowing we'll be in at some point in the near future. Unlike in many record shops, Sally and Laurence have always been very welcoming and treat customers like old friends. Browsing the store's vinyl collection is for us an adventure. My friend, the Beatles collector, has purchased several significant albums to add to his collection not to mention the Beatles Parlophone 45 in the original sleeve. I have found some interesting soundtracks and classical records. Every record collector needs to visit this wonderful store. Sally & Laurence keep up the great work! read more

We were taking a trip to finally see Randy's Donuts, the giant Donut in El Segundo, so I looked up other things to do around here and found out about Studio Antiques. It isn't huge, and kind of average, but what makes it is unique in that it feels more like you're a picker. It isn't organized or displayed particularly well, but that kind of makes it fun because you can go through stuff. And the gem is in the back where they've created a pickers section that are rooms built of junk. I didn't find anything too cool... but it was art! So that has to be respected. The prices were good, and I bet they get new things in all the time, so maybe they just didn't have things that interested me as much this time. Unlike many large antique malls that warrent their own trip... I'd say, this isn't worth a trip by itself, but if you're in El Segundo, for sure check it out! read more

There's a good selection here, but their system is the worst. The records are treated like crap. So even ones in ok shape no doubt take a beating every day. But even worse, the place is an unorganized mess. That's fine for a thrift store, where you'll spend hours rummaging through boxes and find a few gems at a fixed price if $3 each. Here, almost nothing is priced. So after digging for hours in the dusty store, when you show them something they probably didn't even know they had, they'll give you an inflated market price. Why waste your time?! You're better off going to Amoeba, where they clean and bag their used vinyl and sell them at about the same price, sometimes even lower. Thumbs down on this place. read more

First of all, for vinyl records, this must be the best place in a 15 mile radius. Most are well organized and graded, and fairly priced. Both Sally and Laurence are life long music fans, and can often provide interesting commentary on specific artists or titles. Next, there is an ever changing assortment of CD's, DVD's and even cassette tapes, again fairly priced. And large parts of the store are filled with a wide range of antiques, collectables, memorabilia and ephemera. I am not the first to say this, but you never know what you might see in here, with new items coming in almost daily. And if that is not enough, you might get to spend a little time with Zelda the cat! read more

Can't resist stopping here when I pass by. Nice, interesting inventory representing a variety of eras, at pretty good prices. I like that they're open Sundays, which is when I seem to end up on Richmond St. (which is a great place to wander btw, amidst historic architecture, just on the other side of Grand from the antique store). Soon I will need a bigger house to contain all the great irresistible junque, I mean collectibles.... Not that I would consider selling any of my dusty treasures, but for those who feel a need to clean out their attics: Studio buys, sells on consignment, & even will do a trade. I've been organizing "A Day of El Segundo" with a handful of my friends who are passionately into vintage. We spend the day in El Segundo dressed up in vintage and of course we have to stop here as it's the ONLY antique store in this town but it's also well worth the browse! Every time we come, we don't leave empty handed and there are really good bargains and very reasonably priced. 2 rooms filled with treasures and the place is well organized with lots to see. I see new things each time I come and the staff is very helpful if you're looking for something specific. There's also a garden area in the back for outdoor treasures of things you might need for your outdoor garden wants. It's definitely worth the stop every time I'm in this area. read more

Awesome store with friendly, honest owners! Came in last week and spotted several items that caught my eye, but was able to control myself and only bought one thing. I plan to come back every once in a while to pick something cool up. They have a lot of really interesting items; from weapons, books to home furnishings. If your looking for something unique, I highly recommend coming here to check out their stuff! My only complaint is that maneuvering myself within the store was a bit challenging since I'm a big guy and I have to be extra careful not to knock things over, specially in an antique store! Huge selection of vinyl! I usually pick up about 3 or 4 albums every time I stop in. The staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful. There are a lot of records in unmarked boxes so definitely look around the shop beyond the alphabetized stuff. It can be overwhelming but I have found some true gems in the unmarked boxes. Giving them 3 stars because the pricing on albums can be vey very very high for no apparent reason. Albums you can find online for pennies are sold for upwards of $15 dollars in the store. I have been taken for my money on a couple items but I generally give in without argument and attribute it to helping a local business maintain their standing in the community. That said, I would not mind if they made an attempt to reevaluate their pricing methodology. It often seems that they simply match the highest price listed on discogs and go with that. Vinyl is not a stable market and the prices can come off as gouging at best. Their prices are consistently 20%-30% higher than neighboring record stores. You shouldn't have to haggle to get a fair price on otherwise cheap and widely produced vinyl. All of that said, I will always come back to this place to see what I can find and to help keep my shopping local... but if the prices keep going up I may have to consider shopping online more often. read more

I was turned on to this place by dear friends, and with our recent induction into vinyl hunting, a visit here was a no-brainer. Sally was an absolute delight, extremely helpful and just plain fun. We walked out with 30 albums, several fun trinkets to expand some other already-existing collections and intentions to return just as soon as we can. We actually came here with every intention of shopping across the street at 99¢ Only Stores, but this place caught our attention so in we went! I personally love thrift/antique stores so this was right up my alley. We were greeted by a woman, which I assume is the owner, and she was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There are so many awesome things in this place. In addition to the stuff inside, they have an outdoor section in the back of the store that is also worth checking out. Unfortunately, we only had enough time to peruse for about 20 minutes before we got going. I'm not exactly down the street from El Segundo living on the east side of LA, but I am definitely going to come back here soon. I stumbled across this GEM while looking for a "unique musical gift" for my friends 60th. From the minute i walked in i was greeted by an outstanding young very knowledgable man named Charlie, who showed me records and then led me to my amazing purchase of a Virginia Mountain Dukimer. It was the exact special gift i was on a hunt for but what made it better was this heaven of a store and the staff. I also met the owner, Lawrence, who is perfect combination of charm, knowledge, spirit and grit to name a few. While i was there i ended up picking up these beautiful antique wine glasses for another birthday present i was searching for (i ended up keeping them for myself they were so lovely) I will absolutely be back to this outstanding store as its truly a one stop shop if you like antiques and absolutely cool gifts to give.....or keep for yourself! So what can I say?!, except if you're into vinyl records, they have a diverse genre of music! Great stuff and I found some hidden gems from their selection! My wife was getting her nails done and being an avid record collector I searched for vinyl record shops and lo and behold they were 200 steps down the street. So, not only records but an eclectic collection of antiques for anyone's taste I'm sure happy I swung by as I made new friends and have another shop I can visit when I'm traveling I'll be in OKC soon and hope to find some more gems of either rock, blues, jazz and reggae Cheers read more

I've never been treated more rudely by a shop patron. Is this how you treat customers and members of your own community? I was appalled and will NOT be returning. Love this place! I'd been living in El Segundo for a few months, wandered in there with my sister. Lawrence was a classic and so hospitable. We left with 2 pieces of furniture for my new place. Ive been back for all sorts of stuff and they have a great album selection and obviously it's antique heaven. Lawrence, Sally and Luke are so helpful and they don't screw you on price. I love this place. The owners could not be more friendly and have always been up front and honest with me. The location is in a cute area of El Segundo and sometimes parking is limited but more than worth the effort. It is not a gigantic sprawled out space and seems a bit crowded with no defined organization - in other words, it is perfect. I am absolutely sure that if you went in asking for something specific, Sally could have it in your hands within 2 minutes. I haven't even taken time to browse extensively and have seen everything from jewelry to glass to furniture to clothing to you name it. In December, 2013 Laurence was kind enough to come by my home in El Segundo and help go through my family's antiques as I was preparing to rent the home to new tenants in January. He was very personable and funny just as he was when he appeared in Baggage Battles. He filled his car with most of the inventory and my husband put the rest into our truck. We all headed to the shop and unloaded the product but when I inquired as to how it would be recorded and paid Laurence indicated that he didn't know. Apparently Sally was the only person that could discuss any transactions but she was never available. My tenant even tried several times to get in touch with her. Since nothing was ever recorded there was no evidence that my items were in the store. When we finally reached Sally of course she couldn't find any evidence that my product had ever made it to the shop. With no documentation there was no way my case would hold up in small claims court. My family had lived in El Segundo since the 40's and knew all the shop owners. I never expected that something like this would happen in my home town. Lesson learned. Take pictures of your items and get it in writing. This review should only reflect half a star. read more

A lot of random vintage stuff is the positive. Owners who con you and give you fake valuations based on similar items that are worth far more than what you are purchasing is the negative. I feel so stupid buying from this place. Never again. There are reputable antique dealers out there who will charge you fair prices and not try to con you. I could have been a regular customer because of their large inventory and spent a lot more money but they chose to go the quick and dirty route. I shouldn't have to do gobs of research to make sure I'm not getting conned. Shop somewhere else for your antique needs. read more

This review is solely based on their vinyl record collection. They have a good sized collection (maybe 1000+?) but their prices are $5-$25 a record "based on condition." 99% of the stuff they have is dollar bin material, and honestly youd have a hard time convincing me to take them based on the condition they were on. Not sure why this place has so many positive reviews, and just positive, positive positive - that's very suspicious. The owners are the nicest I've ever seen, and I do a lot of antiquing - the parking is good, if you can keep it under 2 hours. The album selections are vast. There were some really good pieces out front. But it's very unorganized - a lot of pieces you couldn't even get to - just way too much clutter. If you only have time for one store in your day of antiquing, don't make this your one trip. A side bonus if you like 99Cent Only stores, there is the King of all 99Cent Only stores across the street - and would be a great place to park because they have covered parking and you could walk across the street. I stumbled into this place because it is a couple of doors down from my bead store, and it is absolutely fascinating. Room after room of jumbled junk/ treasures, piled and styled and arranged in some sort of madcap kind of folk-arty madness. Once you've toured the inside, make sure you check out the back yard, which appears as if it were the storage yard of a madman. Manikin legs lean against old windows which share space with old lamps, crockery, oil cans, ancient iron toys and other indescribables. Even if you never buy anything (and I always do) It is worth spending an hour whiling away your time in here playing the "Whatever IS that?" Game. Everyone who works here is charming and helpful, which is good, because, as noted elsewhere , little is marked with pricetags and you have to ask. read more
