After googling dentists in the neighborhood, she booked us for appointments at Studio Dental Arts. And, WOW. We could not have had a better experience. Dr. Chris's offices are quiet and quite comfortable. It's cozy... not the scary, sterile environment I remember from childhood. The equipment there is all new and state-of-the-art. The waiting area is filled with books, magazines, and a large plasma TV. But, the REAL gem of the place is the PEOPLE. Upon arrival, Lala (the assistant/receptionist) greeted us with her warm smile and caring personality. She got us situated and made us feel as comfortable as possible. Before our cleanings, Dr. Chris spent time to personally get to know each of us, and made sure to answer any questions or concerns that we might have about our teeth. He told us about how he practiced under his father for many years, and then left the family's office's fast-paced, sometimes frenetic environment to start his own practice at Studio Dental Arts. He had a vision: to open a place where he could be comfortable, listen to classical music, and spend plenty of personal time with each and every patient. And that's exactly what he did. This is the absolute best dentist I have ever seen. I have quite a few dental issues, and Dr. Gazarian has addressed all of them in a calm, detailed and caring manner. He is extremely knowledgeable. I had a tooth extracted recently, and was having some difficulty with my healing process. I sent quite a few emails throughout that time, and Dr. Gazarian responded promptly to each one of them, always encouraging me to continue reaching out if I felt there was a problem. The oral surgeon and hygienist are great, too. The entire staff is wonderful! The front desk people are so helpful. I suppose there should be something said about this organization's title... "Studio Dental ARTS..." They certainly bring "art" into dentistry. Between the clean and tidy offices and patient areas, state-of-the-art equipment (I felt like I was in an Apple store!), patient care that is seldom paralleled and courteous employees and doctors, they earned their title of "...Arts" I have had a root canal, one crown, a couple fillings and cleaning/checkups. I always hear how painful and involving a root canal can be. They made the experience go by with minimal pain and had me chuckling through the procedure :) I ACTUALLY look forward to going there all the time because they are such personable people. I love Dr. G and Lala! I hadn't been to the dentist in probably 3-4 years before I started seeing Dr. Gazarian on my mom's recommendation. He is far and away the best, most caring, most informative and genuinely nice dentist I have ever had. You can imagine what kind of shape my teeth were in after not having seen a dentist in so long. I had a four (!!!) cavities and ended up needing a root canal last year. Needless to say, I got to know Dr. G pretty well since his office became my second home for awhile. Now, I'm not gonna say that four fillings and a root canal were pleasant experiences, but they were as pleasant as they could possibly be thanks in large part to the positive and friendly staff at Studio Dental Arts. Dr. G does all of the cleanings himself and really takes time to talk to you about what's going on with your teeth and health in general. I came to consult with Dr. Chris Gazarian regarding a removal of a bottom molar which had to be surgically removed. Dr. Gazarian took the time to explain every detail of what the surgery would entail from not only removing the tooth and its root but also the periodontal lining which is critical in proper healing. He discussed with me the need for a bone graft at the time of the surgery in order to prepare the gum area at a later time for a tooth replacement whether the replacement was in the form of a partial removable denture, or a bridge, or an eventual implant. None of the the other dentists I consulted with explained in detail what I, as a patient, needed to know. For example there was a dentist who was prepared to remove the tooth but failed to discuss the need for a bone graft in order to prevent that area of the gum from collapsing and preserving its integrity. I learned if a bone graft is not performed at the time of the excision surgery, the patient will need to come back for a second bone graft and gum reconstruction surgery which is very costly. This is definitely a detail which needs to be foretold to the patient. Dr. Gazarian's counsel was caring and designed for the patient's interest. He is a wonderful doctor. Unfortunately, since he does not perform oral surgeries, the extraction was in the end performed by an oral surgeon. However, I am very grateful for the consult. Thank you Dr. Chris. read more

WARNING! Money hungry SCAM ARTISTS! I came in with a $67 coupon that was to cover x rays and a cleaning. I double checked this with the front desk and they assured me that was correct. I then was taken to get the x rays and then taken in to a room. Dr. Gazarian soon after came in to talk to me about my teeth and said I had a terrible gum disease that would 100% result in diabetes (I am a young, healthy and fit person who goes to the gym everyday and isn't overweight) and that to reverse this I would have to change my diet; specifically that I would have to begin eating for my blood type in addition to the deep cleaning I would need to get done. I ended up chatting for 45 minutes and I appreciated his time. After he left a woman came in to go through the list of procedures I would need in order to reverse the gum disease and it totaled a whopping $2000! I told her I refused to pay anything more than the $67 that was agreed and she proceeded with her sales pitch as to why each procedure was needed - and boy did she have an answer for everything. She had clearly been drilled to have an answer for everything a customer could possibly refute and when I asked to speak to Dr. Gazarian again she said he was busy. I then said I would wait until he had time and she said he was busy the rest of the day. How convenient! He had 45 mins to talk to me about how diabetes was in my indefinite future and that I should "eat for my blood type" but doesn't have time to discuss my refute. I decided to leave and when I walked back into the lobby that's when I noticed all the books on eating for your blood type. I went to the front desk and that's when they told me that the consultation + X-ray would cost me $47. I said I would not pay for the consultation as that was not the deal but would pay for the x rays so long as they agreed to give them to me. They said they couldn't do that and so I said then they could them to my email. She said she would and I asked her to do it right then and there. She said she couldn't do it then but would do it later. I asked her to please send them to me within the next two hours and she said okay but it was like pulling teeth to get my X-rays even after that (pardon the pun). Long story short, these guys are unethical, shady scam artists that sound so intellectually smart they'll manipulate you into spending all your money! They run on the tactic of instilling fear first and then going in for the kill to rob you for as much as they can. And don't be fooled; they seem very sweet, apologetic and nice, particularly in response to angry customers, but this is all a part of the SCAM! They're gaslighting angry customers! In addition, I went to a second dentist to get a second opinion who said I had great teeth and no sign of a gum disease and I told her about the ordeal I had with Dr. Gazarian to which she responded with, he sounds like a lunatic. RESPONSE TO BELOW: You're so quick to get on yelp and google reviews to attack, undermine and condescend people who have had a negative experience! You clearly can't take constructive feedback gracefully or kindly and nor do you make any attempt to rectify the situation, or are you just scared people will find out your real motives? During this scary time of COVID-19 I decided to take advantage of my free time and get my teeth cleaned and get caught up on some other dental work I'd been putting on hold. Dr. Gazarian is truly the most knowledgeable dentist I've ever met. I live with chronic Lyme Disease and he treats a lot of our community as we have "special needs." The hygienist I saw was May and again super crazy smart (went to and taught at USC Dental Hygienist school). Because I have gum inflammation she did an iodine irrigation on me - never would've thought that existed! They also offer ozone if needed. Sanitation goes without saying - as an esthetician I'm neurotic about it and of course especially during this scary time in our history. I wore gloves to open the doors and press the elevator buttons. His entire staff is phenomenal - literally cannot say enough good things about this practice. I was did a lot of research, was really excited to find a biological dentist, and had a whole list of questions to ask. I was talked into going in and using up one of only 2 consultations covered by my insurance (this includes teeth cleaning, meaning I would only have 1 cleaning for the year). These are questions that could have been easily answered over the phone. But I actually didn't even get to ask these in person- didn't receive the full 90 minute consultation promised as he had another appoint to squeeze in. I was not offered to follow up on my questions and put my mind at ease. Instead I was being recommended/upsold to remove my old mercury fillings, which wasn't even the reason for my visit. Later on, I was told Dr. Gazarian could not proceed with anything further unless I got these fillings replaced. Why didn't they start with this from the get-go and not get my hopes up. I was really interested to learn and support biological dentistry, but I didn't get the sense he really cared. I also noticed they billed my insurance more than the price that was advertised on the website, to which they replied that was the "non-insurance" price. read more

I love Dr. Chris and his staff. If you're looking for a nerdy holistic dentist that really listens to your wants and needs. When I say nerd, it's a compliment. He's soooo knowledgeable about so many aspects of your overall health on top of the expertise in dentistry. I was blown away. I find it interesting that people complain about his office giving bad service or are money hungry, because it really isn't the case -- IMO. They never try to push anything on you and honestly, they have the best prices in town (that I've found) for holistic dentistry. Found Studio Dental Arts through a flyer, ha! So unlike me,.. I book a cleaning, meet Dr. Chris.... Long story short we talked and I had my cleaning for TWO HOURS. Super personable. We discusses so many topics related to health, dental health, eating for your blood type, our educations, fitness and so much more. Every visit, he took great care and time with me and educated me about dental health in a way NO DENTIST, has ever done. Plus he makes it so interesting you kind of want to know everything, it makes you want to take care of your teeth and gums even more. So like Cha-Bam, I snatch my kidlet away from her Pediatric Dentist and start bringing her to Dr. Chris so she can have a life long dental relationship with him because he's the BEST!!! They call it Dental ARTS for a reason. Basically he's the Pope of Dentistry. God forbid you ever need a root canal..., go to his sister, holy cannoli this is one smart and talented family. I called this Dentist because I wanted to switch and was in pain after my tooth just had chipped. I made an appointment with Dr. Gazarian 4 weeks ago, I sent them my insurance ID card the day the appointment was made. After receiving my ID card, they then confirmed the appointment for a month out. My appointment was supposed to be for tomorrow, today I get a text that they don't accept my insurance even though they are in the network, she said it sometimes takes 6 months for them to get paid so they don't take anthem. I asked her why they didn't let me know this a month ago when I called to make the appointment. She was not apologetic, she kept talking about how Anthem is, how they don't pay, how they're difficult to work with. Well guess what, Anthem didn't set an appointment with a dentist it doesn't work with, you guys did. Thanks for wasting my time and keeping me in pain.... Billing practices and performance are the worst I have ever seen. Great dentist but terrible, incompetent and misinforming staff. Never pay up front for a procedure if you expect that he will file with insurance. His office, in front of me got the code from Blue Cross, again, right in front of me. Said they would file but never did, yet took my money. His excuse is he said he would help me file, yet without a diagnosis or procedure report, that claim is debunked. Never supplied diagnosis or treatment in writing, just a handwritten receipt. Second, this biopsy to check for cancer. Dr. Gazarian stated we would have results in three days, a week later, full of fear and no result, I was really upset (you would be too) and yes, loudly vibrated my vocal cords, to relay incompetence over the excuses I was being given by this very young girl who is representing his front office. I can only assume he hired her as a favor but wow. Even my insurance rep, just doing their job got a complaint because of her. Instead of looking at the problem, his hire, he looks to defend her over good practices. My family could tolerate all the conversations and many years of vocal daddy issues from the good doctor but now, we are done and the many referrals will stop. Simply do not want the medical advice from a doctor who is not trustworthy in all areas. A kind approach does not mean competent or safe. read more

I've been going to Studio Dental Arts for about a year now and I must say it's the only dentist I trust. Mind you before I came here I went nearly 3 years without going to the dentist. My husband and I love Dr. Chris and Lala so much. The guy down there ranting...has got to be a lunatic. We've had multiple procedures with Dr. Chris over several years and he always takes his time, is completely through, and gives us every ounce of information. In fact, he's so through about reminding me to brush and floss that since I've started seeing him I don't get cavities any more. I even had a some problems with a root canal, and they've seen me multiple times for no charge just to make sure everything was fine. I don't leave reviews very often but this is an exception. I've had HORRID experiences at every dentist I've been to since I was a child. I found studio dental arts last year and I've never been so pleased at the dentist in my entire life. The staff is so helpful and friendly and make you feel comfortable and heard the entire time you're there. In the past, I've had previous dental hygienists get mad at me for my bleeding gums saying it was my fault and that I was not flossing enough or brushing well enough or whatever incorrect excuse they could come up with to avoid actually helping me and figuring out why the bleeding was occurring. Not here. The dental hygienist actually listened to my concerns and issues and made sure I was comfortable during my entire cleaning. I woke up today and brushed my teeth the day after I got my cleaning and for the first time in 23 years my gums DID NOT bleed!! I've had my gums bleed every time I've brushed my teeth since I can remember and for the first time in my life this didn't happen. This may be a small issue to some but for me it's been something I've always worried about and the pain of brushing my teeth was always an annoyance, but not anymore. I'm so thankful I found you guys and I won't be going to any other dentist ever again. If I could give more than a 5 star review I would. Whatever was causing my gums to bleed is no longer an issue and my teeth and gums feel cleaner and healthier than they've ever been! 5 Stars is for sure an understatement. After moving from the east coast and leaving my life long dentist, a friend recommended Dr. Gazarian. I could not be more thankful, I have had nothing but positive experiences in the three years since becoming a patient. As soon as you walk in to the office you are greeted with a smile by Jessica the receptionist who happily took care of all my dental insurance needs. Which was a huge relief considering I couldn't make odds or ends of the large packet the insurance company mailed to me. Went to Glendale Dental Arts for years but when Dr. Chris opened up this practice in Studio City, I decided to give it a whirl. The offices are clean and comfortable and everything is state of the art. Dr. Chris and Lala made me feel at home immediately.I came in for a cleaning after neglecting my teeth for WAY too long, and Dr. Chris did the cleaning personally and took time and care with me even though I was his last appointment on a Friday evening. Came back the following Friday after work to get one filling and another one replaced, and Dr. Chris and Lala took great care to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. The fact that it had been a long week at work may have contributed, but I swear I dozed off twice while my tooth was being drilled on...if that's not a good sign, I don't know what is! I was referred here by my dentist to see an endodontist and periodontist...I received treatment from Dr. Boustani over two visits for a root canal. It was such a pleasure dealing with her and her assistant Erica. They were professional and friendly. My issue was quite complicated, but they provided the treatment as comfortably as they could make it. I then lucked out when I dropped by my x-rays to the office prior to my endodontic treatment and I was able to meet Dr. Chris who assisted me a great deal. He provided some tips for me to take better care of my teeth and gums and made an appointment so I could get a temporary crown on my tooth fixed. He was optimistic I could avoid gum surgery, was so friendly and took a great deal of time with me. I just got the crown fixed today and Dr. Chris showed a great deal of care for my situation and the woman who fixed my temporary crown made it feel perfect! I don't recall ever having such excellent care from a dental practice...everybody I have interacted with has been lovely and so professional including Sondra who is the office manager. I wish I met Dr. Gazarian years ago. I am 40 years old and have had gum recession and dental problems for many years despite dental cleanings every 3 months and my best efforts to care for my teeth. I was looking for a dentist to fix and redo a crown that was bothering me. I received many differing opinions regarding prognosis and treatment options, from leaving it alone (despite pain) to cutting the gums and shaving down the bone. Dr Gazarian was the only one to review all potential options and tell me which he would prefer and why. After going with his recommendation (a post and a combination material to have smooth edges to the crown), I am now pain free and couldn't be happier with the meticulous work of Dr. Gazarian. He had me in a few times to make sure everything is perfect. My family and I now all go to him for all our dental needs. His office always calls the day after any procedure to make sure you are doing well. He always explains everything in detail and now, for the first time, I understand the root of my gum recession and how to stop its progression. Thank you Dr. Gazarian and staff!! Imagine a dentist who puts his patients' needs first! I was really impressed during my recent initial visit to Dr, Gazarian's office. He is incredibly thorough - performs all of the teeth cleanings himself so that he can get to know each patient's oral health. He is accompanied by Erica, his dental hygienist, who is also skilled and knowledgeable. I especially like that he takes the time to get to know each of his patients - it's not a mill where he rotates from room to room. He chooses to provide quality over quantity which I greatly appreciate. Dr. Gazarian also takes the time to inform his patients about best practices for oral health. Dr. Gazarian just turned me away after two visits...No reasonable explanation. Not sure if this is a race thing, a bad day, or what. Was unwilling to have a conversation face-to-face like a professional to discuss. Nothing to do with insurance as I am insured. Very bizarre. Very unprofessional. 4 minutes ago (In Re: to Chris G.'s Comment): I appreciate your apology, however, it doesn't explain why service would be denied to me in the first place. Given that I learned about this refusal of service while trying to schedule my routine teeth cleaning, it's clear that only one of us feels that the relationship isn't working. I'm not used to a state licensed professional refuse to provide service...and I don't think it's fair in this case either. Was a last second office visit. I was in extreme pain after breaking a crown. Dr. Gazarian saw me and took care of my pain, and the tooth/crown. Was up front with what was to be expected, and what he was doing the entire time. No surprises. Except for the great service. Do not see this kind of people person in a doctors smock anymore. I never thought I would miss going to the dentist, but I totally do! I found Dr. Gazarian exactly one year ago and went in for a teeth cleaning. Man, I got so much more than clean teeth, as he has changed the way I think about my dental health. He really cares about the integrity of your teeth and gums, and hates the idea of being a 'bandaid' helping out once in a while, and wants to educate his patients on long term solutions. After the teeth cleaning, we decided I needed to replace 7 out of my 9 silver fillings with white fillings or porcelain. I visited him throughout the year to do this, and I looked forward to each appointment. They also did an amazing teeth whitening on me too. His wife Lala works at the front of the office, and is so much fun to talk with! They are so cute together, as they create a very relaxed, comfortable vibe for their patients. No need to search any farther...you just found the BEST dentist in the area. Dr. Gazarian is the only dentist I trust and I promise you will be in good hands. He is honest, kind and gentle and Lala at the front just makes the experience even better with her sweet, welcoming nature and positive attitude that will shine through from the moment you walk in the door. They have state of the art equipment, clean facilities and above all...won't rip you off or try to get you to do things you don't need. Since finding Dr. Gazarian my teeth have definitely been in better health and I can't rave enough. (As a comparison, I saw a dentist Dr. Barbon before him who tried to tell me I had 6 cavities and if I paid right there with cash, I'd get a discount...basically a sales pitch by his office manager...needless to say I was SHOCKED and left. I saw Dr. Gazarian and it turned out I had ZERO cavities and saved myself the thousands of dollars Dr. Barbon was trying to charge me). SO THANKFUL I found Chris and Lala!!
