I'm not a fan of dentists. Except this one has me changing my ways. This is a rare group of folks, each of them talented, professional, and most importantly, passionate about their work. From the first time, when I phoned to talk to them about my insurance coverage, to my first cleaning, and on to subsequent repairs and hygienic assistance this place was different - polished without pretension, able to speak plainly without talking down to me, and most importantly, patient while I relearned how to be a patient who could enjoy a new dental relationship based on two-way respect. Today, my teeth are no longer my embarrassment; my friends look at my smile and say things like: "I never knew your teeth were so white; something has changed; what are you doing?" While I'd like to keep these professionals my secret, I also want to share them. Dentists can be so many things, but seasoned, happy teams are the gems worth showing off. read more

Make sure you get everything in writing. Make sure everything to the last detail is in your hand before you make any decisions. I was supposed to get a crown replaced last year. As I'm pulling into the parking lot they call me telling me the crown had not been delivered yet, literally minutes before my apt after driving all the way there. Fine, I reschedule. I then get a bill 6 months later for a charge for "missing an appointment". Guess which it was? it was the one THEY cancelled because my crown was not ready. But they still went ahead and charged me a No Show Fee anyway. Had to dispute that with billing, only to be told this is a normal thing with this place. After multiple appointments getting upsold on expensive treatments, and pushed to get Invisiline after telling them repeatedly I am not interested and can not afford it, I cancel my future cleaning. Only to get multiple reminder texts for that cancelled appointment. Even after calling and asking them to cancel it, THEY DID NOT. Thankfully I called back after another reminder to find out my appointment was still on the books, and I would have been charged another No Show fee if I didn't come. The Dentist and his always revolving team of assistants are decent at their job, but this facility will try and wring every last dollar you have out of you. Esp if you need a Deep Cleaning, which they recommend every time I go, whether I had one done the previous year or not. PLUS, they wanted me to pay for the entire thing UP FRONT, over $1200 for a procedure I had not had yet. It was also broken up into 2 different appointments, for each side of the mouth. Why couldn't I pay on the day? Why couldn't I pay per side? Because that's their policy......Until I told them I straight do not have the money like that. That I would just go without because I couldn't afford the lump sum. Suddenly, they changed their policy and I could make 2 payments. No big deal. It's policy to take all your money till you tell them your gonna walk. They it's "Oh no wait, we can actually do that". It's not genuine help, they just don't want your money walking out the door so they'll make an exception so you don't spend it elsewhere. This is why people hate Dentists. You get uncharged and scammed to the point of losing trust and then real problems go untreated because they maxed your insurance with unnecessary procedures and exams. Go ANYWHERE ELSE in Studio City. Listen to your gut, get a 2nd opinion, don't get pushed into spending money you don't have and maxing out the little insurance you do have. And above all, double and tripple confirm with this place because they are not here for you. They are here for money. read more

Dr. Ash's office is beautiful: spotless white walls, expensive equipment, sleek technology, AI-powered gadgets. The whole place has a polished, luxury spa aesthetic. The hygienists are all friendly, and do a great job with their cleanings. They're communicative and gentle, explaining their work as they go. Unfortunately, after five years as a patient, I've come to believe the polish and hygienists are doing a lot of heavy lifting for the good reviews of this business. Dr. Ash has repeatedly tried to convince me to remove my wisdom teeth. Years ago, I was quoted around $2,000 out of pocket and told insurance would not cover it. "Don't worry," I was told, "we have payment plans." Of course they do. About a month ago, I returned for a routine cleaning and X-rays. Dr. Ash told me I had two cavities that needed fillings and that one wisdom tooth was "rotting" and needed to come out. This time, the extraction was quoted at around $1,200. I declined the extraction but scheduled the fillings. The day of the fillings, I was charged about $460. A few days later, my EOB arrived showing I actually owed around $160. I called the office, asking where my roughly $300 was and Damon, their payment & insurance specialist, told me they will simply keep it as a credit toward a future service. He said they could not submit the claim to insurance until the procedure was performed, which sounded strange. How generous of them to create a savings account for me using my own money without telling me. I received no call, email, or notice about this credit. Had I not checked my insurance portal myself and called the office to question them, I have no idea when I would have found out. Then, things got even weirder. The same day I called asking about the credit, a new claim appeared with my insurance. It added about $200 of patient responsibility from my filling, reducing what the office owed me from around $300 to around $100. The claim was submitted 13 days after the fillings for an additional topical anesthetic service. I do not remember this being explained to me or being told I would owe extra for it. At that point, I went and got a second opinion on my wisdom teeth. The new dentist looked at the wisdom tooth Dr. Ash said was rotting. It looked fine. No urgent extraction. No obvious rot. No $1,200 procedure. Then he reviewed my X-rays from my cleaning a month ago, and told me something even more concerning: In his professional opinion, I did not need the two fillings either. This was not the first time this office found something expensive to recommend. About a year ago, they measured my gums and told me I needed a deep cleaning. At my latest visit, a newly hired hygienist re-measured them and seemed confused because the previous measurements were off by roughly 1 to 2 mm throughout, enough to produce a very different assessment. Apparently, my gums experienced a medical miracle. They also routinely push whitening and other add-ons. After enough visits, the pattern became hard to ignore: another diagnosis, another procedure, another recommendation, another bill. Maybe the unexplained credit was an oversight. Maybe the new claim appearing the day I questioned my bill was coincidence. Maybe the "rotting" wisdom tooth was a difference of professional opinion. Maybe the fillings another dentist said I did not need were simply an unusually aggressive approach to dentistry. Maybe my un-receding gums really are an oral miracle that warrant studying by schools of dentistry around the world. Maybe it's all a remarkable number of coincidences for one mouth. If you are already a patient here, check your insurance portal. Compare what insurance says you owed with what this office charged you. Look for credits you were never told about and procedures you do not recognize, and if you are told you suddenly need thousands of dollars of dental work, get a second opinion before you let them touch another tooth. Amazing doctor and amazing person. Opened his clinic on Sunday for me due to extreme pain. He did all the prep, CT xrays etc without me have to wait a minute in between. Did extraction that were painless and just did an amazing job. 2 hours since the moment I stepped in the clinic and I was on my way home. Recommend this dentist from the buttom of my heart. Dr. Ash and his team are the best! They saved me when my crown suddenly popped off while I was eating a goji berry from an acai bowl! I had recently been called by my dentist regarding a transfer of ownership so it was time for me to find a new dentist. I googled and found studio dental and called them from work in a panic. They got me in right away and told me what to do. I had been using a Fluoride Free toothpaste called Boca (which I will never use again) and it was over 6 months. One of my coworkers had encouraged me to use it and with my teeth that are prone to cavities it was such a big mistake to even consider it. Dr Ash found so many cavities that needed to be worked on and the office worked with my insurance to get the work done in the most economical way possible. Chloe his front desk manager was so sweet and assisted me with all my appointments. My schedule was not easy to work with because I have a 4, 5, and 7 year old and I work as a nurse and am in full time school for my nurse practitioner on top of holding some leadership positions at my work... They were able to work with my crazy schedule for which I am so grateful for. The dental hygienist was also gentle (Jenny) which I also appreciated because I have gum recession and I have often been in pain in the past. When I came to get all my work done in one sitting, Christina was also very gentle and helpful during my procedure. The most wild thing of all was that I only needed numbing for my crown but my 8 other fillings did not hurt because of this modern laser that Dr. Ash uses in his office! I kid you not I am such a baby at the dentist usually everything hurts me. I even got a few chipped teeth fixed and now my smile is the best it's ever looked. Highly recommend. Quick update! Just left new dentist. Free initial evaluation and x-rays and because I was in pain from a molar that needed pulling, got it pulled same day. And unlike Studio Dental, entire plan developed and walked out with an actual quote of $6300 for two root canals, and three porcelain crowns. First visit to Studio Dental paid over $1100 and walked out still in pain w/ toothpaste, an $85 Water Pik (told same price as in stores) and a future appointment. When I asked about the toothache, was told, "oh yeah, let me see if he is giving you antibiotics?". Gee thanks! He did call one into Kaiser. Didn't do much. I'll add a photo of the $85 Water Pik later as I am not at home at the moment. read more

Never met a more Hollywood douchebag dentist in my life. As a general rule of thumb, it's usually best not to trust a dentist that has an expensive location like this guy, unless of course, they're the best at what they do. This guy is far from the best. Ash charges way too much and is no better than your average dentist that's located in a lesser-income neighborhood. I should've seen the signs early when I went in for a check-up my first time and saw a random unsatisfied customer complaining about how overly priced his procedure was, but I saw the reviews and figured to give the guy a shot anyways. Pretty sure most of these 5-star reviews are from his family and friends anyways. He sounds like he knows what he's talking about, but don't be fooled. He consults you into situations where he can overcharge the hell out of you for a barely mediocre job. This guy is more of a CEO caring about his bottom-line than a dentist who actually cares about his patients. He has to profit in order to maintain the nice office. Can't imagine what his rent and other expenses are, given that he's on Ventura blvd. in Studio City. All style, no substance. Went in for a few check ups and he made a big deal about how yellow my teeth were and started talking about this bs teeth whitening process he sold me on. By the time I was done with it, my teeth didnt really look that much brighter and this guy charged me well over $1000 for it. Money wasn't the issue for me, it's the results that sucked. Definitely not worth it. I ended buying some whitening strips that was recommended by another dentist I started going to after this guy, and I got way better results from that. The rest of the staff is nice, but there are way better dentists out there that wont charge you nearly as much as this dingleberry. I'd give him 0 stars if yelp and Google allowed it. read more

Dr. Ash is absolutely THE best in his field. I have been a patient of his since 2017 and I consider myself very fortunate to have found him. He's always taken excellent care of me, but his most recent accomplishment was nothing short of a miracle. I had a tooth that I thought would definitely have to be pulled and an implant put in, however Dr. Ash managed to save it and put an amazing new crown on it. He performed intricate gum surgery with a brand new laser. I had zero downtime, much less pain and no bleeding in comparison to my previous traditional gum surgery. My son has severe special needs, complex medical condition and is intellectually disabled. We had been searching for care for him with full sedation, because he literally requires full restraint if you want to even look into his mouth. It had been a couple of years since his last dentist visit, so he required extreme deep cleaning of the teeth and beneath the gums, a few fillings, and x-rays. None of this treatment would have been possible without sedation. We are so grateful to Dr. Ash and Dr. Montgomery for taking such good care of our son. They were both so kind, patient and understanding with him. His teeth look great and he exhibited no signs of pain or discomfort after the procedures. I'm amazed by the work they did for me, they gave me a temporary fix that will be replaced by a crown in 2 months, but you absolutely can not tell that less than 24 hours ago half of that tooth was missing. I have been to some excellent dentists in New York and Los Angeles, but none of them come close to the sublime artistry and care that I have consistently gotten since I became Dr. Ash's patient 8 years ago. The practice is clean, modern, high-tech & you get to have a nice view of Ventura. With all that said, the best part about this office is the people who work there. Dr. Ash is not only super kind and cool but also very understanding, and non-judgmental of why some teeth have been neglected, asks all the right questions, comes up with multiple solutions to suit your needs, and does an incredible job. He and the dental hygienist ( who is an amazing lady!!) always make sure you're not in any type of pain or discomfort. And Chloe!! she is the best receptionist I've ever met.
