Review for March 2024: Pleasantly unexpected! The very clean and minimalist aesthetic drew me in, but the friendly staff and chill vibes are what encouraged me to stay and look around. After chatting with the staff about jewelry options and piercing prices, I ended up doing a walk-in appointment for a lobe & conch. The staff was great about answering my jewelry & appointment questions. The piercer, Kels, was professional, kind and informative. Kels sanitized the space, verbalized each step of the process, offered me a stress ball and encouraged breath work during the piercing process. They used a needle, not piercing gun, marked the area of the ear they planned to pierce and asked whether I liked the placements or wanted to make any adjustments. This was absolutely the best piercing experience I've ever had! The 2 piercings ($50), jewelry - a $30 titanium ball stud for the lobe & $50 triple gem stud for the conch - and tax came out to just under $150. Clean space, fair pricing, good variety of jewelry options, quick service, EXCELLENT piercer and staff, and just overall good vibes. I'll be returning for future piercings & jewelry, and highly recommend them.

They pierced my head. DO NOT GO HERE. I have been left with swelling, infection, puss and trauma. I have 17 piercings and have never had an experience like this. I got a refund but robot apology. Still waiting for manager to contact me.

Got my flat helix pierced here and the service was quick, efficient, and as painless as a piercing can be. I came to my appointment knowing which piercing I wanted and what earring I wanted it with, so that fastened the process a lot. When you enter, you have to show your ID and fill out a waiver on your phone. Afterwards, we were shown a tray of earring options. Note that despite the titanium, gold, etc., earring, the actual piercing that's going through your ear is titanium. I had Payten as my piercer who was super kind and welcoming. When we went around the back to get the piercing, she told me the pickier I am about the placement the better, but regardless she seemed to hit very close to the spot I was looking for. I was in and out in 10 minutes tops. My friend who had a scheduled appt 40 min after mine was actually admitted early, so we left the store even before her scheduled appt. This is not to say they rushed us at all, but rather were efficient with the time. The only problem is it is a bit pricier than I'd like, but overall great service and such welcoming staff!

I have to say, I really liked my experience here. Normally I go anywhere on Saint Mark's place to get any piercings, because it's fast, quick, and cheap. But I live near this studs location and didn't feel like going downtown, and made an impulsive decision to re-pierce my upper helix and tragus as they had closed up some years before. Connie was incredible, really sweet and made me feel comfortable the entire time. she was extremely careful because these areas had been pierced before, so we had to do it a little bit differently. Of course this place is pretty expensive, it's all over TikTok and it's aesthetically pleasing, very Instagramable. $50 for two piercings, not including jewelry. If you go to the East Village, you're getting a piercing that includes the price of jewelry, so that's why this place ended up being a lot more expensive. After taxes and before tip, it was a little bit over $125. The cheapest piercing jewelry starts at $30. The only thing that I found annoying was that I tried to call beforehand to see if they had any availability for walk-ins, and it is literally impossible to talk to anyone over the phone. They have something called a digital assistant, no option for a human being. So I got there and ended up having to wait about 25/30 minutes, but if somebody could've answered the phone, I would've known when to come without having to wait. All in all, a pleasant experience, super fun environment, but next time I will definitely save the money and just go downtown.

I've been thinking about getting more piercings for a year now but wanted to go somewhere that specialized in ear piercing and styling. Easy online reservation system. They only do 2 piercings at a time and while I want to build up to a few more, I really appreciate that they want to make sure you are fully healed before the next set of piercings. I got my conch pierced along with a second lobe piercing. The piercer was very sweet and recommended positioning, explained the whole process and checked in on me to make sure I was doing ok. Everything is very clean and sterile. Please keep in mind to come early for your reservation since it is a small space and they clean between clients. I love my new piercings and can't wait until they heal so I can continue to build up. You can also call if you have questions or concerns and schedule an appointment for them to check your piercing. Super happy with my experience and hope it doesn't become an addiction read more

What a cute shop! Very efficient check-in and waiver process. The shop is small, but clean. All of my piercing supplies were packed correctly in their sterile packaging and needles are single use. Sharps containers were not overflowing. Proper hand washing and gloves were used. I am in the medical field and I notice these things. Liv was my piercer. She was informative, knowledgeable and gave me her honest opinion of what my initial piercing choices would look like, considering my ear anatomy. That being said, I got one piercing that was different than I had originally planned. Both piercings were quick and painless as possible. Good aftercare and instructions. I will definitely return! Just had my third piercing by STUDS on the Upper East Side. I'm a 38 year old woman and have always wanted more piercings but felt silly at my age. STUDS is clean, encouraging and completely judgement free. I learned so much about the healing process and always felt as though I was in the best hands during each piercing. I had an excellent experience at Studs -- I've been wanting to get a couple of new cartilage piercings for a while, had no idea where to start in finding a place to go ("the tattoo parlor where I went might do piercings, but is it a good place? This place is close to me, but who knows?!") If you're just looking for ear piercing, Studs is the perfect solution. I got an appointment (but they fill quickly so give yourself some lead time), did some research on what I wanted to get, the pre-appt communications were super clear, so I was ready. I had wanted to do a conch in one ear and a daith piercing in the other, but the anatomy of my ears turned out to be too small/light to support a daith piercing. My piercer Casey was SO great with me - I so appreciated her thoughtful process of determining what would really be best for me, the piercing process was quick, clean, safe, and easy -- yes, cartilage piercings involve brief pain, but 1) worth it and 2) it's brief, and at Studs, they make it easy! read more

Staff were very professional and friendly. I haven't gotten my ears pierced since I was 7 so I was a little nervous, but they were great and even provided stress balls to squeeze! My piercer was very patient with me while I chose the jewelry and exact location of the piercing, and answered all of my questions. I requested a black tattoo consisting of 3 numbers, 2" wide on my arm and was quoted $100 flat which is their minimum. The owner made a copy of my ID and the tattoo artist (sorry I forgot your name) confirmed the font and size. I waited less than 10 mins and was done within 15 mins. The lines are clean and exactly what I wanted. I also left a 20% tip. They use saniderm which I'm also a fan of. Thank you so much for my tattoo, I love it! Wish I had come across this place sooner so I could get more.

I told both the piercer and manager upfront that I'm allergic to stainless steel and titanium. I was specifically assured that the bar, the part that actually goes through the ear, was solid 14 karat gold. It wasn't. It was stainless steel. I was also told the back was a screw back, but it was just a pop back. Weeks later, when my piercing wasn't healing, I had it removed and that's when I discovered the truth. For someone with metal allergies, this is a serious and potentially harmful. As for the manager -- he was rude when we walked in, didn't say hello and just asked if I had an appointment, but that paled in comparison to how he treated a grandmother who had come in excited to wait for her daughter and granddaughter for the little girl's very first ear piercing. He was really rude to her, and that's not okay. That's a memory-making moment for a family, and she deserved so much better than that.

She's a good human being who is good at what she does and coincidence didn't just bring me there, it was meant to be. The studio accommodates four artists/chairs at one time and is clean. The other staff I met there, as well as the owner (woman owned business), were equally kind. Because I walked in, spur of the moment, I chose a small, but somewhat detailed firefly to be tattooed above my ankle bone on the inside of my leg. She was quick, efficient and skilled. If I lived in NYC, I would hire her to tattoo me again.

The vibes are clean, futuristic and fun. As an anxious girly, my whole experience at Studs was not anxiety inducing at all. I booked online (super easy) and then when I got into the store, I was able to look at the jewelry and ask specific questions. The workers are very knowledge about the product and any potential allergies. Gabe did the actual piercing. You could tell he was knowledgeable and skilled about ear anatomy and was able explain the placements. He explained every step including clipping my hair back. He was very thorough with making sure the marks were aligned and to my liking. He also answered any questions, silly or not. The piercing itself hurt only a little bit because it's a piercing, but he kept the mood fun. I highly recommend getting your ears pierced at Studs.

It was very easy to make an appointment. Bring your cell phone as they have one of those QR code things to access the consent documents. Piercer came out and introduced herself and helped me choose my earrings... I was a little bit disappointed initially as they didn't have what I wanted in the display case so I choose something similar. But my piercer, Ms. Peyton, went to the back to double check inventory and came back with exactly what I wanted. Ms. Peyton walked me through the piercing process and what the next 4 to 8 weeks might look like. Ms. Peyton was very detailed in her answers to my questions. So I knew the piercing was going to hurt ... but ouch.... Ms. Peyton did not rush me as I breathe through the pain of the first piercing before starting on the second. The space was clean, Ms. Peyton wore gloves and a mask, peeled items out of wrappers and discarded those items after use. The reception staff was effective and efficient and smiled the whole time. Very inviting. I have 6 more earrings to get for my earscape, and look foward to coming back. read more

Went with my boyfriend and sister to get our piercings. Everyone there was super nice and helpful, answered all of our questions. So much to choose from and our piercers took their time with us. I wanted two piercings (one on each ear) but my piercer suggested to get them at different times to give each enough time to be able to heal. Although I wanted 2 I really appreciated that instead of just piercing me she gave the best advice for my ears. So happy with our visit and we received a free tote and a poppy seltzer since it was their opening weekend. read more

Everyone is so nice here! I was pierced by Jess, who was so gentle and sweet. The piercing process was super quick and safe, which is especially great because the piercing fee is relatively affordable considering that they only pierce with needles. This new location is very small, but there are private areas that they take you into to actually get pierced. The only downsides were that a they get booked up so fast and they didn't have the piercing earrings that I had chosen in stock. Would definitely recommend for a trendy but chill experience! read more

I had a great experience during my first visit to Studs on the Upper East Side! All of the staff were super friendly and eased any nerves I had about getting my second holes pierced. The location was also very clean. Cherisse did my ear piercing, and she walked me through every part of the piercing process step-by-step, which I greatly appreciated! terrible place and their staff is deplorable. The young African American male worker with glasses needs a lesson on how clients expect to be treated not just inside but also outside of the store. LOVED this experience! They got my traigus earring out that I haven't been able to take out for years. And they did it extremely gently and easily. I also got my cartilage pierced. This is a super clean and friendly place! When we went in they were extremely quick and thorough. They made the piercing process not scary at all, and did a good job having privacy.
