Get in my bellyyyyyyyy. If you've seen Austin Powers, you're my kind of people. I stopped by Stuffed Belly for some takeout on a Wednesday half an hour before close. Located in Spring Branch, this fast casual restaurant is located in the same shopping center as quite a few solid eateries including The Blind Goat, Jinya, and Feges BBQ. In fact, Stuffed Belly is owned by Christine Ha, winner of season five of Masterchef. Parking wasn't an issue in the busy yet spacious complimentary lot around the shopping center. Ambiance (3/5): Stuffed Belly is more of a grab-and-go type spot. The reason? It's quite small. There are about five seats inside and one long picnic style seating area on the small patio. That's it. The restaurant looks nice, just tiny. Service (4.5/5): You order at the counter and they let you know when your order is ready. The ordering process was smooth and we got our food within a reasonable amount of time. While service isn't a big part of the experience, I didn't run into any issues. Drinks (N/A): I didn't order any beverages on this visit. Food (3/5): I went with the belly burger (their classic burger) and an order of the loaded tots. It was a mixed bag. I love a good smash burger, it's one of my favorite types of burgers. The ingredients are all quality. The problem? One issue is that it's a pretty small burger as you can tell from my picture. A kiddie burger of sorts. The loaded tots, on the other hand, were a generous portion. I have a weakness for loaded fries. As others have mentioned in their reviews, fries are not an option at Stuffed Belly. Tots only. I like tater tots too, but it is pretty bizarre for a burger spot to not have fries on the menu. The other issue I have is that both of my items (as well as what my mom ordered) was spicy. Take this with a grain of salt as I can only handle a little spice. Still, the menu offerings packed more of a punch than I expected. Which definitely impacted my enjoyment of the meal. If you like spicy, don't sweat it. If you don't, you're probably going to feel like I did. While Stuffed Belly underdelivered a bit for me, I did come in with high expectations. Ordered the "Stuffed Ranch Clucker" and it was such a disappointment. It was literally 80% lettuce and chicken batter. The meat of the chicken was non existent. Soooo much lettuce was added and it added no value. Do not get this. I will not be ordering it again. No flavor either, except for the taste of mayo. AND what the absolute F!!! Tried the fish sandwich since it was Lent season. The fish was fried very well... crispy batter and flaky on the inside. But I felt like the flavors were lacking? And the ratios were off too. Was in the area so decided to pop by. It's a drive thru only place, no indoor seating, so we waited in the car for our food. I got the kid size burger which was still filling! Plan on a to-go order, the inside seats only a few people, and are mostly occupied by people waiting on their orders. Restroom available for customers only. No cash. Prices are amazing considering this isn't a big chain burger place. The burger is well smashed, with fresh jalapeños (hooray!!). The bun is simple and acts as a hand hold more than a show stopper. Good sauce. Definitely ordering again. The grilled cheese is also layered with cheese on the outside of both pieces of toast. Very nice touch. It's a blast of cheesy flavor. I wish there was more tomato on the inside to give it more cut, but your kids will never notice it so that's a hidden bonus. Having received an email about Stuffed Belly serving Sloppy Joes, I really wanted to try one. Their promotion makes reference to King of The Hill, which is funny to me. Bobby Hill said something along the lines of "My Sloppy Joe was all sloppy and no Joe." For those who visit Stuffed Belly, there is seating outside and limited seating inside. We just ate in the car, and here's a numerical breakdown:: 1. Orange Creamsicle (4/5): It was more of an orange soda with a minimal amount of cream. 2. Sloppy Joe (4/5): It should have been warmer. The slice of cheese hadn't melted. It had a standard Sloppy Joe flavor like what you would get at home. No umami or updated twist. 3. Tater tots (3/5): A bit overdone and not warm enough in my opinion. I agree with other folks that they should serve fries--or my fave, onion rings. 4. Pudgy's Chocolate Chip Cookie (5/5): I only tried a small piece, but this cookie is so delicious! The cashier at drive thru forgot to put it in the bag at first but we were able to pick it up inside. As someone who watches way too much MASTERCHEF, I was hype when I found out Christine Ha opened a new spot in my neck of the woods called Stuffed Belly! Of course, I had to tap in! I rolled through the drive-thru and ordered the Belly Burger but I had to triple that thang one time. (it's a smash burger with cheese) pickles, caramelized onions and their special sauce on a potato bun. Now, I'm not usually into smashburgers, but this one changed my mind (sort of)c The caramelized onions? First time I've had them done right on a smash burger and they elevated the whole thing which I wasn't expecting! Everything about this burger was right. Got it with tater tots that were perfectly crisp and tried out three sauces: their signature, the Sichuan mayo, and BBQ. All were solid that completed the meal. I also grabbed the blackberry lemonade, which sounded amazing, but it didn't really hit for me. There were real blueberries in it, just that simple syrup was not it. Just being honest. Only semi drawback is that they're a little on the pricey side, but you pay for the quality. Shoutout to Kevin at the drive-thru super friendly, great energy, and made the whole experience smooth. Watching master chef is the number one reason I came. The fact that they have pudgys cookies is number 2 Staff is so unbelievably nice. If you eat Keto they have options for you. Mini is $6 for a fresh made burger patty is really reasonable in my opinion. If there is one thing you need to get its the loaded tots. Absolutely incredible, full of flavor and they load them up. I will say they are a bit pricey ($9) and definitely not shareable but worth it. Both my husband and I got burgers because we were generally curious how they match up to other burger chains. We definitely felt like the burgers are elevated and more flavorful but we both do not know if it's worth the price. We spent a total of $35 for two burgers and a small thing of loaded tots. I've been to Stuffed Belly a couple times now. Since my office is not too far, I try to look up new places to eat for lunch and bring my fellow co-managers. Plus, we've dined at Jinya and Barnaby's which shares the same lot. There are many other restaurants and plenty of parking. It can get busy at times. The place is small with a couple counter seats inside overlooking the parking lot and restaurants instead of Long Point Rd. because the drive thru window is there. There's usually only 1-2 staff members working, but they are friendly. We sat at the picnic table a couple times, and my food was brought out to me. The menu has unique burger options, and I like that they have egg salad sandwiches. I have yet to try those here. They occasionally have specialty burgers. Some created by Top Chefs so that part usually changes. There's also keto friendly options if you are restricting carbs. The kid's burger is literally the same size as the Belly burger but with one smashed patty. It's topped with cheese, pickles and ketchup. It kind of reminds me of Whataburger. The triple cheese please is served on Texas toast with lots of gooey, melted cheese and tomato confit. It can be greasy but good. The tots are plentiful in such a tiny bag. It's usually overflowing. They're crispy and served hot. Everything is made to order. I dropped my business card, so maybe I'll get free mini sliders and tots for the office. This is the kind of fast food I have been waiting for! American meets Chinese. Chicken sandwiches meet spice. Big portions meets affordable prices. If I lived in Houston I would be eating at Stuffed Belly once a week! I ordered a Stuffed Belly burger combo with tots and a blackberry lemonade. The price came out to $16 if my memory is correct. I also ordered a szechuan chicken sandwich a la carte for $7. Danggg! The burger was super juicy and full of flavor! Then I bit into the szechuan chicken which was equally moist and juicy. Both had lots of sauce on the buns and I love sauce! One small thing was I wished the szechuan sandwich had more peppers. You could just barely taste it and it needed just a tad more. This burger stand by Masterchef Christina Ha is pretty good. The patty melt is incredible but not if you're watching what you eat. The burgers are simple but delicious. You can't skip the tator tots. The ketchup is kind of lame though. The Humpty Dumpty Egg'wich is okay. I love eggs, and this wasn't memorable for me. The Tuna Crunch is okay, and I liked the surprise of the crunched potato chips. Seating is very limited to low bar seats and one large patio table. Food comes out pretty fast but they might take a while to take your order. It might seem like they don't value you as a customer, but it's probably to keep the kitchen orders steady. Overall, I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here but find the food tasty. read more

Maureen took my order. It was a little fast paced for a first timer here. Maureen wasn't necessarily rude but she wasn't friendly. Neither of the employees were super knowledgeable- for example, they didn't know what flavor cookies they had. And the cookies don't have labels so it's just a guess. I asked for the PB chocolate cookie based off of Yelp and I ended up with just a plain chocolate chip cookie. Also, I found out they don't have the Vietnamese iced coffee anymore just fyi in case you looked at older menus on Yelp. As for what I tried: Sichuan Hot Chicken: 3.5/5 so my chicken consisted of two pieces rather than one big piece. One piece was excellent and would have been a 5/5. The other piece was more like a 2/5- thin, had a lot of gristle, and was more breading in places than chicken. I asked for the Sichuan mayo on the side because I am not a mayo fan, but the mayo doesn't have a strong mayo flavor, it's really good, kinda spicy, and I think the chicken sandwich sort of relies on that sauce to help flavor it and make it special. The potato bun was great, I love that it didn't get soggy at all. An added bonus, the sandwich was not greasy at all. Strawberry Cream Soda: 5/5 delicious. You do have to keep stirring it to get the strawberries to mix in, but it was fantastic and refreshing. Not overly sweet. It was a nice treat. Dirty Dr. Pepper: 3/5 it was fine but nothing really special. Just tasted like a Dr Pepper with vanilla icecream in it. For the amount, it wasn't worth the price. Chocolate chunk cookie: 3/5 it doesn't help that I was expecting peanut butter but the cookie is good. It's just not great. It's super thick and heavy. VERY dense. I think I'd rather eat 3 cookies than one mega cookie, which is what this felt like eating. My son got the Belly Burger. I can't try it because of an allergy but he said it was just okay. To be honest, I've only heard about this place because I've been to the chef's (Christine Ha)'s restaurant in Chicago and I had no idea what to expect! The service was just like any other fast food restaurant (think in & out). It's not a formal sit-down restaurant, it's more of a fast-food experience - think whataburger. There is a counter area where you can sit and eat your food. There's also an outdoor picnic bench if you prefer that and a drive thru. But nothing formal. So I got the Belly Melt and my husband got the Texas BBQ Belly Melt. For my burger - I absolutely LOVE whataburger's patty melt so I had high expectations. It definitely exceeded my expectations! The onions were sautéed to perfection. I first thought it was cheese because it melted in my mouth when I took a bite. Crazy! My husband is extremely picky. He used to get whataburger's a1 thick & hearty (with extra a1) sauce (if you know, you know) but unfortunately, whataburger eliminated it from the menu. But he said it's not comparable to stuffed belly's, but it was a good substitute. He said it was really really good and he would come eat here again next time we're in the area. From the outside, it looks like a drive thru spot, but they do have a 5 stool countertop if you want to dine in. The young man behind the counter was great. He was super friendly and gave good suggestions. So what Stuffed Belly is all about is sandwiches. It's one of chef's comfort foods and they wanted to have a spot focusing on that. I am a self proclaimed smash burger aficionado and that is one of the things this place is known for. They also have patty melts, grilled cheese, chicken sandwiches, cold sandwiches, sides and some cool drink creations. They got Pudgy's cookies if you want to satisfy that sweet tooth. I came for the burger. The Belly Burger is a double beef patty smash burger with caramelized onions, American cheese, pickles and their Stuffed Sauce. I was talked into getting the Three Pack which is a triple. I went with a side of tots because that's all they have other than chips or loaded tots. I would prefer fries though. Most smash burgers in town are usually on the smaller side but this burger was substantial in size. I don't even think it was because of the triple meat. It was just a large bun with patties that spilled out through the sides. The toasted potato bun was delicious and held up nice with all the ingredients inside. The patties were seasoned to perfection and had that nice crisp edges that comes with a smash burger. To me, the sauce was a little excessive but tasty. I feel like most people would like the sauce level. The tots were perfectly crisp and seasoned well. It was also a generous portion. Like the name of the restaurant, I had my own stuffed belly after this meal. I would probably go down to the double next time. Overall, Stuffed Belly was a great experience for me. Came in at around 3pm on a Friday after seeing that it was close by. Drive through was quick and efficient, menu had good variety but not crazy long so it's not hard to decide. We ordered the Sichuan Hot Chicken, side of tater tots, and strawberry lemonade. Hot chicken was huge and incredible! Super crunchy texture, lots of dry seasoning and Sichuan spice flavor (mild spicy, nothing crazy). Creamy Sichuan mayo, crisp tangy pickles, and the fluffy potato bun kept things bright and kept it from feeling too dry. Truly felt like a proper fusion of Sichuan chicken and Nashville hot chicken, very unique. Tater tots were solid, good complement to the meal, nothing special but well done. I had seen this place before when I would drive on long point and didn't think much of it until my friend suggested to go. It's mainly a drive through type of situation but we were able to order and eat inside because it was empty. Honestly the food was delicious. The portions are decent too, seems I'm always posting about service but to me that's important. Only two guys working there and they were so nice. Once you order they start working on it on the spot. Even though the place is small it has the essentials, napkins, sporks etc. my daughter ordered the little belly burger and its actually pretty big. It's thanksgiving time and I'm on the hunt for thanksgiving-themed sandwiches in Houston. Stuffed Belly's special for the month of November is their Moist Maker sandwich, an homage to Ross Geller. For 11.00, you get a sandwich on Texas toast, sage stuffing, roasted turkey breast, cranberry sauce, provolone cheese, and the signature gravy-soaked moistmaker piece of toast in the center of the bread. It was exactly what I was searching for! If I could give a piece of advice, I'd probably order with double turkey. The sandwich had plenty of everything else. I ordered ahead of time for their website, picked up through the drive-thru, and was on my way within minutes; very quick service. Done-in is possible but they only have a handful of stools and a communal table inside. Along with that, there's a small outside patio with minimal seating. When has smash burgers been a thing? For a long time, right? It's become much more popular as the years have gone by and I was never interested to try it. I honestly feel if I'm ordering a burger at a restaurant verses a fast food joint, the restaurant should at least ask for my desirable cook Meaning, the anemic in me wants a little blood juice oozing in the middle..........and you take that first bite of a juicy medium rare/medium burgers and you just relish the burger as your weird anemia cravings go away for the moment. Alas, although I know you can't really have it your way because they good enough ground beef, smash it thin as a crepe, and put two patties to feel as if you had enough beef. There's a reason why I don't follow food trends. They are never really worth the hype to me. But the onus is having ordered what I have always dismiss......and now I digress. I ordered: Hand crafted blackberry lemonade with house made blackberry syrup and real blackberry pieces. The syrup and blackberries were on the bottom and I just gave it a good swirl and it was so lovely and refreshing. The tart lemonade with that slightly sweet blackberry syrup was delightful! I ordered: Tator tots-plain Alright so they are hot and not greasy. However, that was outshined by how much salt was on them. It was cloyingly salty and after 6 tots I relinquished them into the garbage receptacle. I ordered: A smash hamburger of course. I definitely do not like cheeseburgers. Didn't realize it was more of a drive thru with a small inside area and patio to order. Luckily we went right at opening so it wasn't crowded. Highly suggest you check out the menu before as the food is made fresh and takes a little while. They have to balance drive thru customers with walk-ins. They don't have a huge staff but it's obvious they're working hard. The orange creamsicle drink was amazing tasty on a hot summer day. I was really excited to try out this place so my coworkers and I made the drive there for lunch last Friday. This place is a drive-thru location but they do have about 5 seats inside where you can eat but the inside is very small. We ordered the Belly Burger, Humpty Dumpty Egg'wich and the Cinnabelly dippers. I was really excited for the burger but it was just...not that good. The meat lacked flavor, the sauce was watery and there was too much of it making the burger soggy. I like a drier burger so maybe that was just a preference thing but the burger was a solid 4/10 for me. However, I really enjoyed the Egg'wich and would 100% get it again. The Cinnabelly dippers were really raw and the consistency was a turn off for me - my coworkers agreed. Overall I don't think I would ever come back here. read more

I had been long waiting to try Christine Ha's new concept after having a good experience at her newest location of The Blind Goat within the same parking lot last year. It's a fast food / fast-casual concept, with it being counter service and only 5 window-facing barstools inside should you decide to dine in. They also have a drive-thru for added convenience! We came for a weekday lunch and there was only one person in front of us to order. We ordered the Belly Burger with a fried egg, Sichuan Hot Chicken sandwich, Loaded Tots, and a Blackberry Lemonade. Belly Burger. This is a smashburger which comes with two beef patties. This was so good - the patties had a nice caramelization crisp to them, which I recently learned is caused by the Maillard reaction. We also added a fried egg ($1.50) and this was a great idea. The egg was runny and dripped all over the meat as soon as we bit into it. The potato bun was also very tasty. Sichuan Hot Chicken sandwich. This was really good and had some hints of five-spice flavor. The cocine was very crispy and juicy. However for $10, I would say there wasn't a huge difference from the famous Popeyes Spicy Chicken sandwich. Loaded Tots. This is their tater tots topped with chunks of their smashburger patties, stuff sauce, queso, and green onions. This was also delicious! I liked the extra burger meat atop the tots. We got our order to-go, but I'm sure this would've been even crispier if eaten right away. Blackberry Lemonade. This is one of their Stuffed Sippers. Made with their homemade blackberry syrup, it was the perfect refreshment on a hot summer day. The lemonade was the right amount of sweetness and the syrup had real blackberries in it, thus why they give you a boba straw to sip with. Service was alright. When we asked the cashier about a couple of the drink options, she blankly stared, said she didn't know anything about them, and asked her coworkers, who were also surprised to learn about these "new" menu items. Upon receiving our food, we noticed an extra Sichuan Hot Chicken sandwich in our bag. When looking at the receipt, I noticed that the cashier had mistakenly charged us for two of these sandwiches. I'm glad we checked the bag before leaving, otherwise wouldn't have caught this error. They quickly refunded us for the extra sandwich and allowed us to keep it, since they couldn't take it back. Good response from them. All in all, I was really pleased. That Belly Burger was so good, and they even have variations with 3 or 4 patties for those with an appetite. I'll definitely be back for more if I'm out in Spring Branch and looking for a quick bite. read more

First time trying this place and pleasantly surprised. It's a small spot, but as soon as my husband and I walked in we were greeted and when the cashier took our order they were so friendly! Customer service on point! We both ordered the belly burger and split some tots. My husband also got the egg salad sandwich and I got the orange creamsicle. The burgers were delicious. Smash burger patties with that sauce everyone loves but this time the sauce was different. For me who's a bit of a wimp, it had a lil bit of a kick. I'm a wimp cuz of the heartburn lol. My husband didn't notice it at all! Orange creamsicle was tasty! As mentioned it's a small place so all the seats were taken and we had to eat in our car (it was a rainy day) but that didn't take away from our good experience. This really is more of a pickup/drive thru. There are some bar stools inside and one table outside to sit. Went to try the general tso boy special, but it wasn't something we'd get again. The chicken had a good crunch and sauces were pretty good, but once we picked up the sandwich, everything fell apart and it was too hard to eat. Eventually had to use utensils to eat the vege and meat. However, I'd go back and would recommend the belly burger and cream sodas! The portions for everything was actually more than expected, so that was nice! Good taste combo on the burger and strawberry cream soda was good as well. This was my second visit. First was during a special menu and I got the loco moco burger. Although it could have used more "gravy" the burger was seasoned and cooked well. This time I got the stuffed belly burger without cheese. I didn't know the sauce would be spicy so I scraped off most of it and used ketchup. Honestly, the sauce was delish and I kept just enough to enjoy the full flavor. The bun was perfectly toasted and the patties huge with the crispy edges you'd expect of a smash burger. I also ordered tater tots which were crispy and seasoned. I ordered online this time and pickup was easy through the drive through. The first time I did go inside and there isn't much seating but I remember it being clean inside including the bathroom. Service was great. The menu may be small but I don't think you could go wrong with anything you order. Plus they stock pudgy's cookies for dessert! read more

3.5 but rounded up. Service was great. They were really nice greeting us with smiles and then offering a hot cocoa sample. We ordered tots, the belly burger, Texas bbq burger, and the naked half and half. The belly burger, the tuna, and the tots were very average. The meat patty which I took a bite of first tasted underseasoned. When eating it as a whole burger it isn't as noticeable because the sauce makes up for the lack of salt. The tots weren't very crispy. They don't taste bad but also would rather get tots at sonic. The tuna sandwhich had no wow factor. The chips on top were nice but just basic. The Texas bbq burger had the same meat but the whole of the sandwich tasted nice. More of a wow factor. Being an egg salad lover, we were surprised by how nice this one tasted. It's basic but also has pizazz. Couldn't put our finger on why, but it was really good. Would go back for this. All in all we are glad we tried it. Pricing seems pretty fair. I wouldn't be opposed to eating here again but also wouldn't go out of my way either. read more
