(I've been trying new salons for about two years now, waiting to find someone who can figure out how to cut my hair well). My stylist (Vanessa) was really nice, and did a lovely job. I've got two words: Joe Rocks! After testing out a few places when I first moved here, I still wasn't happy about the cuts/service I was getting. So a friend recommended Joe at Salon Soca. I've been going to Joe now for three years, and I've never looked back. All of the staff, from the front desk to the shampoo area to the stylists, are great (did someone say complimentary head/neck massage!?). And when it comes to Joe, I always know he'll listen, make suggestions (and I'm always asking for his opinion!), recommend great products (Soca is an Aveda salon), and do a fabulous job all around. He's great with long and short styles, all hair types, and I'm going back in soon so he can do some color magic on me. Other nice things about Soca: the space is nice and open, they highlight local artists' work on the walls - changing it up quarterly, and have events throughout the year to support great causes. Erin Kilroy did a phenomenal job taking care of my hair on Friday. I absolutely love my blonde highlights and haircut. She knew exactly how to treat my hair and walked me through the entire process. I saw Destiny for a cut/wash/blowout and she was great! She listened to what I wanted and worked with me to make sure I was happy with my look. I went in for a haircut and cut my hair to donate it, everything was going good, until the hairstylist cut the last pony tail and cut it on a diagonal and one side ended short than the other. I was taken aback, but she washed my hair and cut, styled my hair. I did mentioned to her that to cut it so I can give as much of my hair, but she should of at least apologized or paid attention to how she was cutting the ponytail. One side is slightly shorter even after she cut/styled my hair. I figured it is for a good cause that I am donating my hair and my hair will grow. One more thing after she was done, I went to the restroom trying to compose my self and then when I came out there if the workers including the hairstylist seemed to be talking about me. Not nice, but at least I didnt leave a tip. I should of said something, but it took me awhile to realize my whole experience. read more

I ended up booking a last minute appointment to whichever salon could take me same day - I am a diy-er and decided to give myself layers... I think that explains itself. I jacked up my hair! I was with Destiny, she was able to salvage my length while beautifully blending the new short layers. I walked in nervous and I walked out so happy with my new haircut. This is the only salon I will ever go to and Lorenzo is the only person I would trust with my hair. I got a haircut with him 2-3 months prior to me coming back and doing a follow up hair cut as well as coloring. Both times I was there I was quick to notice what makes Lorenzo different from any other stylist, and simply put: he listens. He takes the time to understand what it is the person wants, and makes it happen which is all we want from a hairstylist and it was exactly how my first visit went. What is even more encouraging, is the second time I went I wasn't completely sure of what I want but had a very general idea and I ended up loving what he went for. It shows that he's paying attention to who is sitting in his chair, and what they would want to leave there feeling great. I'm such a fan of his work ethic, and even bigger fan of his work. You can really tell this man loves what he does, because it look/feels good walking out of there. As a conscious consumer, I was also very excited to learn that the products they used on my hair were vegan, cruelty free, gluten free and free of all those harmful parabens and sulfates and most importantly - smelled great! My hair cut from Laura was wonderful. The WFH hair was real, and I finally caved and went in for an overdue and much needed hair cut. Laura listened to my concerns about my hair, and cut it so that it would look amazing both in the salon, and when I did my hair at home - even giving me tips on the best things to do for my hair, and small changes to make to my routine. The salon was extremely clean, and from the time I walked in to the time I left, I felt very safe, due to all of the COVID protocols in place (everything was clean, individually packaged, and sanitized prior to my arrival, and wiped down throughout my time there). If I could give zero stars, I would. I had the worst haircut of my life yesterday. I had been growing out my hair from a pixie cut for the last 4 months and went in to get the back and sides trimmed up to the bottom of the longest layer. I showed the stylist a picture of exactly what I wanted - a gentle undercut of the bottom inch and then slightly blended at the ends. Instead, she cut it all off and the entire back of my head looks like it's been shaved. Four months of growing my hair out and I have to start over. And with my hair long on top and essentially shaved along the entire back and sides, I look like a hipster guy instead of a businesswoman. So angry I actually cried in the chair when I saw it. read more

My wife and I struggled, thinking, "is this to much for a haircut?" NO. Tara is by far the best stylist in the city. She cares and works her hardest to provide the best service to all of her customers! Beyond this she is honest. My wife wanted to shave her head. I was pretty nervous. I recently went to see Lexi for a cut and color, and will never come back. She had done my balayage once in the past with great results, but this time my hair was absolutely ruined and I needed to go to a different salon two days later for 5 hours for someone with experience to fix her mistakes. The balayage looked different on either side of my head. One side was completely over processed with no blending and severe lines, the other side was mostly purple (I previously had purple Pravana dye on my hair) and much darker in tone. Lexi obviously had no experience with removing color, and just added bleach on the top to cover it, but didn't do it evenly. Also, the other person who fixed the color had to re-cut my hair because the cut was choppy and uneven. It was $200 down the drain. Please make sure your stylist knows what they're doing before you let them damage your hair! read more

I live nearby and walked in one day. The staff was nice and I got right in so that was good. All I got was a haircut and it was nothing terribly exciting. I have curly hair and perhaps that's part of the problem? No products were pushed for me to buy and the woman I had was also training someone else, so perhaps her thoughts were elsewhere? She invited me back to receive not only the head and neck massage that was not included in my original service but a damage remedy treatment on the house. A $55 service. Now THAT is how you get customers! My service was with Mary. She was approachable, caring and made me feel spoiled. It's really the simple things in the salon: asking if the water is the right temperature, if I'd like some water while I was sitting under the dryer, and handing me trashy magazines without judgement. ;) She tells me that color is her specialty..and it shows, her hair is perfect. She also teaches color classes at the salon. IF I colored my hair, she would be my girl. Spending an hour or so with a friend rather than, well..my last experience. What I've come to realize is that the terrible experience at the salon was not the fault of the salon but of the stylist. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Michelle at all.
