    Tonkotsu Ramen
    Kristen A.

The tonkotsu ramen is delicious! Just what I needed. I also tried the miso ramen, but the soup base was too salty and didn't taste great.

I love ramen and couldn't wait to give this restaurant a try! I went for a chef tasting event. When I arrived I parked in a lot nearby. I walked into a cute BYOB restaurant. They gave us a few dishes of the: Octopus Thai Tum Yum Noodle Ramen NY Strip steak Ice cream and pear dessert The food was amazing every dish. The ice cream was just a little sweeter for me. And the gluten free noodle was more like a spagspaghetti noodle but still good. All in all it was a great experience!

Terrible service. You "ll get a super passive aggressive attitude from the waiter. I ordered ramen that was too spicy. They let me change the ramen but talk about just rude service. Instead of apologizing, the guy just talks about how it's not spicy at all. What are the waiters just trying your food and then arguing how it's not that spicy? They have good fried chicken Bao buns but you can get those anywhere. That last experience soured it for me. This ain't authentic Japanese ramen. This is Asian fusion.

So glad that Westfield has an Asian spot that serves decent ramen. The chicken bao bun was good. Could have been a tad saucier. The tan tan was a bit different than what I'm used to - which is usually miso based. This wasn't as thick nor did it had depth of flavor. Tonkatsu was good.

Had the great opportunity to try this new place courtesy of a friend who invited me to the chef's tasting event. The service was really friendly and kind. The first course was a grilled octopus appetizer. Now I hadn't had octopus in years but this was tasty. Next was our ramen which I thoroughly enjoyed. Next we had the beef dish which I didn't eat since I don't eat beef. However it was prettily presented. The sweet potato that accompanied it was delicious. Last we had the dessert which was a pear crumble topped with ice cream. Now frankly I wish the pear was hotter but it was tasty. It's a cute restaurant and I loved the decor. All in all a good experience. I will be back for the ramen for sure!

Jesus. That's some good ramen Nice staff as well. So good I wrote this with my phone in one hand while still eating. Again... so good

we came to try this ramen place since it was newly opened. Service was really good and attentive. we shared steamed chicken dumplings this fried mashed potatoes croquett thing. I got the beef ramen and I forgot what Boo Boo ordered. we also shared the chicken rice bowl thing. what threw us off was that the egg for the ramen were extras. they didn't come with bowl. if I knew we would have added them. we almost spent $100 what's another couple bucks for eggs.

Another new food court-style fast casual chain restaurant which come and go in this town. The carafe of water infused with fresh mint leaves and lemon is nice, but the garish overhead LED lighting is unpleasant and cafeteria-like. We had the pork belly bao buns (2 for $10). Despite having the corporate logo embossed into the dough with a hot branding iron, the bao buns were sad and tasteless. We followed that with the standard tonkatsu ramen and the chicken miso ramen. The chicken ramen was good. Strips of chicken breast were tender and juicy, the broth had just the right amount of heat, although it didn't have a lot going on. Many of the ingredients you would find in these dishes (enoki mushrooms, cabbage, fish cake, etc.) are a la carte extra add-ons here, which can easily send the price of your bowl over $25. My tonkatsu had vermicelli noodles, not ramen noodles like the miso ramen. Is that the way tonkatsu is made? The pork belly was interestingly crispy. It could have been served hotter, but I never send food back to the kitchen in a restaurant. The one app, two cups of green tea, and two bowls with no add-ins was $52 plus tip. Was it worth it? Inspiration Roll, around the corner, is better and less fast-food-ish.

This place is great! Wish their menu was a bit more detailed. They have dumplings but are called gyoza on the menu. This is food that needs visuals in my opinion. I came on yelp to view some photos of the food but didn't see much. I had the oxtail ramen and it was excellent. Wish i had an option to make it a bit spicy. My daughter had the sum ramen, less spicy and that broth was excellent. The service is great and very friendly. Great ambience. Chicken wings come with a great sauce but are very small with little meat. The brown sugar boba is excellent!

It was my first time doing karaoke and I honestly don't know that I would do it again. We booked a karaoke room for an hour for 6 people on a Thursday evening, and while the singing was fun, the service was below subpar. When we arrived, we did not have a full menu available to us in the room, so it took a few mins to get our order in. Our server kept close tabs of every minute in karaoke, but not the food. It took over 60 minutes to get our wings! Apparently there was some sort of mix up in the kitchen & while we were understanding, what threw us for a loop was that even though our wings were DELAYED, our server was hesitant to offer complimentary time in our karaoke room while we waited. Right at the 60-minute mark, he was quick to offer two options - our wings to go or a table in the dining room. In the end, we had to negotiate an extra hour in the karaoke room since our food took SO long to come out. When paying the check, we were surprised to see a charge for food we never ever received! I'm super disappointed that they tried to take advantage of us, when we were very understanding of their mix up. In my opinion, servers could use a lesson or two in customer service. Never in my time in hospitality, have I ever behaved in the way they did.

They have a lot of options to pick from so it's nice to customize it to your likings. My only thing is that I had ordered a bowl and I'm sure that's what I picked, but they ended up giving me a sushi burrito. I was a little disappointed at first, but at least the sushi burrito is really good. It's essentially a jumbo roll of sushi. I really enjoyed mine and each of the individual ingredients tasted really fresh and good. You get a lot with your order so I felt really full. The main entrance is next to the kitchen, which is designed for food delivery and takeout operations. The L-shaped dining room wraps around the kitchen and offers an impressive amount of seating for 80 people with ample natural lighting. The interior decor follows the same rigid industrial wood and metal aesthetic that almost every new hipstery restaurant chain has subscribed to for the past decade. In case you've forgotten that ramen is Japanese, you'll also see neon signs on the walls illuminating some common Japanese phrases (although without furigana). Two gendered restrooms are located left of the kitchen in the far corner of the building and each have two stalls and one sink. I ordered the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen with a side of Chili Charred Brussels for takeout. I placed the order 30 minutes in advance and it was ready at the scheduled pickup time. The Chili Charred Brussels were about five halved sprouts that were steamed and lightly sauteed with a light sprinkling of mustard greens and pepper flakes. I actually enjoyed these more than the ramen I ordered, but they did not have much noticeable charring (or the caramelization that comes with charring). I had a very difficult time enjoying the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen, which is the first item on the ramen menu. The dry ingredients are packaged in the main serving bowl and the broth in a separate plastic takeout container for you to combine yourself. The main attraction of the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen is the three massive slabs of braised pork, which did not disappoint. I tried some of dry ingredients first before drowning them in liquid, although I could not find any bean sprouts. The noodles were slightly undercooked, possibly to compensate for the hot broth. Everything kind of went downhill after I added the shoyu broth. Although the shoyu did impart flavor to the meat and ramen, it was so overwhelmingly salty that it was completely undrinkable by itself. After finishing the noodles, I felt like I was sipping boiled dipping sauce. If chicken broth was in the mix, I certainly couldn't taste it. This is particularly concerning because half of the ramen menu contains this same shoyu tare, and will most likely be too overpowering for most people. In retrospect, I should have ordered the brothless mazemen ramen. The food preparation, while adequate, seemed a bit rushed based on what I ate. Perhaps 30 minutes was not enough lead time for the kitchen, or perhaps this is just how Ani Ramen makes its food. While I appreciate that Ani has helped make ramen more accessible in Central Jersey, it's probably not my first choice for ramen or any of the eclectic side dishes on the menu, e.g. brussels sprouts, kimchi, and gua bao (none of which are Japanese).
