Once upon a time, Fujiyama was my go-to for AYCE sushi. They used to have great daily deals and even better food, especially during lunch or happy hour. Sadly, not only has the quality reduced to barely edible, they have also decreased in portion while increasing in price. How disappointing!! At first, I thought maybe it was a bad night. But every time can't be an off night, not for me. The service is the same. They don't 'bother' or disturb you too much, but someone is usually need if you need something. It looks a little run down these days, despite the increase in price, everything else seems to be going down. Maybe they will revamp and do better. Too much love for Fujiyama Mama to not write an update every 2 years or so. Another girl's night nearby, another massive sushi order. Edamame and seaweed salad were perfect sides to pick on. The Dragon roll is one of my go tos because I don't think you can go wrong with eel. It was delicious as always. The Perfect Naruto Roll might be a new favorite to add to the list. Loved that it was almost entirely different types of fish and no rice. It was a nice change from the other rolls. We also go the Hanky Panky roll that I will need to remember to reorder as well, and a classic salmon roll. Everything was delicious and filling and perfect even the next day. Very disappointed. Food was just ok. But the biggest problem was they seated us at 7:00 pm and we did not get a chef until after 8:00 pm. Also no one came to check on us that entire time while we sat at the table. Looks like they only had two chefs to work the entire restaurant. Appears to be poorly manage and understaffed. read more

This place has a great happy hour! The drinks were fantastic. The service was not great but not bad either. The menu was extensive in almost an overwhelming way (think Cheesecake Factory book). I did love that the rolls were named after NJ towns. I ordered a handful of different rolls and dumplings and everything was decent. I also ordered a hibachi meal which was just ok. The prices were very reasonable. I wouldn't categorize this as a go-to place but I would definitely go back here for happy hour and sushi again. read more

Ordered 2 sushi roll lunch special for $13. I selected Boston roll and shrimp tempura roll. Both were fresh, good tasting and ready on time. They were small so I'd get the 3 roll special so you aren't starving. Wouldn't be my first choice for the area but it's conveniently located with lots of parking. read more

Not bad. Came here because I wanted sushi, but also a full bar. This place sits within a shopping complex, so there's plenty of parking. The staff was quick & courteous. We had the Sho Chiku Bai sake (cold), & Honeydew Bubble Tea. Sushi wise, we had the Fast & Furious, My Best Friend, Rocket Fuel, Hanky Panky, & Lobster Dragon rolls. All were very good. This is a quick & easy place to go. Again, the rolls were very good, but at the same time nothing to make me wanna rush back. Will I go back? Sure, but not a place to draw me back quickly. I'd honestly like to give them 3 1/2 stars to indicate my feelings of the sushi being good, but not having that "Wow" factor **UPDATE** I have now been here twice, & I have concluded that I do not like this place. Fujiyama Mama, has a great lunch special with discounted drinks and food. I have been here many times. Well, my waitress didn't know who Wanda Jackson is, her service was exemplary. I would say the entire staff is very attentive and make for a good experience. I always go for the same lunch salmon teriyaki Bento box, it comes with shrimp shumai, miso soup and a salad. (Under $15) five dollar pints of Sapporo beer an excellent deal. They close from 3 PM to 4:30 PM. read more

Unfortunately the "hibachi show" isn't even close to the best I've seen, but the chefs' more than make up for that in savory and sizeable portions of their preparations. FM provides regulat seating for just menu ordering of meals and combinations of meals with sushi rolls... or hibachi table group seating. This place has been my go to sushi place for years. When you arrive you get to pick between sushi or hibachi. I always go with sushi. Despite it getting busy sometimes, you're always seated fairly quickly without any real wait. You're given many options of drinks and appetizers to choose from. I always get the dinosaur egg but anytime that I have switched it up, I've never been disappointed. Your food is brought to you in a timely manner. went in there tonight for the first time in a really long time. We order delivery of their sushi often which is always really good. However, the hibachi tonight was unsatisfactory. The hibachi chef was totally disinterested. It was SUPPOSED to be a special occasion for my daughter's 10th birthday but he was so lame, uninterested or engaging. It was embarrassing. The service was not great although the woman brought ring drinks relatively fast. The restaurant at 7:30 was deserted. The woman at the register/hostess said "you're early" The decor was terrible. Old, boxes and tables shoved into a corner on the way to the bathroom, not particularly clean, the word that comes to mind is "mankey". I ordered from Fujiyama Mama from UberEats and had a positive experience. I scheduled my order in advance and it came within the window I selected. I'd say the maki rolls were pretty good for the value - a good fish and avocado ratio to rice. I wasn't very fond of their shrimp tempura roll, though, because the batter seemed a bit over cooked. The Alaskan roll was interesting - they used smoked salmon (as advertised on the menu) instead of regular raw salmon, which I think I prefer. The beef satay was quite good - the sauce had some coconut flavor to it, not just the standard peanut sauce you usually would get. Overall, good stuff! read more

It's been a few years since I have been here, but we went yesterday for hibachi and sushi. I couldn't believe how small the hibachi portions were. I got chicken and shrimp hibachi and I got 4 shrimp and less than 4oz of chicken. My son and husband got steak and shrimp and the steak was so thin that even when the chef cut it in cubes it was less than the size of my hand, and I have small hands. We also ordered sushi as an appetizer and my husband was so sick once we got home. I didn't get the spicy tuna like he did so I felt fine. He said it tasted off but he still ate it. Just disappointed since we used to come here all the time. The place would be packed no matter what time of day you came. I was surprised to see only 5 tables and now I feel I understand why. August 18, 2020 - Still no indoor dining due to Covid-19 restrictions, however, there is outdoor seating for customers who want to sit and relax. This is my first time here and I loved the customer service. Everyone seemed to be following CDC protocols and maintained distance and sanitized as needed. I've been to this place a bunch of times for hibachi and also sushi. I'll say a few things. They have an extensive list of drinks that are very interesting. Their sushi is decent - I always get the vegetarian rolls - avocado and sweet potato rolls however my husband has gotten other rolls and he has had no complaints. The hibachi has gone down hill over the years. There services used to be more consistent among the chefs however they are not anymore. The last time I went I was very disappointed as the chef cooked the noodles and the rice within 2-3 mins and put it on our plates - lacking garlic and sauces that make those 2 dishes. I have had better experiences here with other chefs though but the inconsistency is not worth it when you just want a good meal! Go if you want to take a gamble. If not I would look into a different hibachi spot. read more

Saw many positive reviews and many more recent negative ones , but I thought just maybe we can have a great time, celebrate my son's 15th birthday, doing what he loves to do, every year and it's to try a new Hibachi restaurant the night before his birthday for dinner. Deep sigh... yeah I should of believed the negative reviews. First off, the seating is way too tight. Like seriously there is no need for me to sit this close to anyone, especially another family dining next to us. The plates are huge, sitting that close to others is not socially distancing at all which is what the signs State around the restaurant. I had the Spider roll, it was so warm, I was so disgusted. Who serves warm rolls, No chop sticks offered, no dipping saucer for soy sauce. They didn't offer any water, but made it clear not once or twice but three times to my 5 year old that there were "no free refills on the drinks". The chef was very high energy, but the food was just not enough. The ultimate zero star for me was for the scene they tried to cause when I was charged for the birthday boy, whom they proceeded to ask him for ID. I called the restaurant twice the week of our reservation and told them it was a birthday celebration for my 15 year old. She said the dinner for him would be free as long as we purchased four meals. That's fine we were a party of 5. Not once did she tell me he needed an ID card to prove his birthday. Yet, the waiter who brought the bill was very adamant that he needed an ID. She was so rude, and almost disgusted that I told her, Unfortunately he didn't have one, but luckily, I had his birth certificate on my phone. But just so embarrassing to be treated like that. Especially after they put the happy birthday song on and gave him cake and ice cream, (that they didn't charge for.) and Especially after the group of 10 sitting across from us were celebrating a birthday and didn't have to deal with this. I don't know. I usually don't complain. I'm not interested in eating at this restaurant ever again. I didn't even take any photos or videos. The vibes were not good. However, I just ordered a special roll - the Mars roll and not only was it half the size of the special rolls it had less than half the fish on it. What's more it didn't even have tuna on it as pictured and described on the menu. The menu picture shows a large diameter roll with both a nice piece of red tuna and a nice piece of orange salmon wrapped around each piece. What was delivered was a california roll size of 8 pieces with a single sliver of fish on each piece. Four were old salmon and four were some pink fish. I should have sent it back right away. This is absolutely the WORST sushi I have ever tasted in my life. I had two bites of the fishiest warmest rolls you can imagine, followed by a disgusting doughey "spring roll" although calling this a spring roll is a stretch of the imagination. I literally spit this food out of my mouth- something I have NEVER done. In addition, the customer service was awful- the manager did nothing to rectify the situation (although honestly nothing could be done). The person who initially answered the phone hung up on me twice, and then neglected to mute the phone while she snarkily reported my complaint to the manager. We have been coming back here frequently and had no complaints about the taste of the food or the service but today, 7/9/20201, we had a late lunch and ordered the special, knock your socks off-- among other things, and the taste was terribly off. The tempura was obviously old, not crunchy, tasted stale, and the rice wrapped inside the roll was noticeably harder. The service was good but the special roll wasn't as special at all--at least for this visit. I get hibachi at least twice a year and every time they cook in front of us I'm always amazed. I got the dinner special which included a salad, miso soup, steak, shrimp, fried rice or noodles, and ice cream. Good dinner value for what you're paying for and experiencing and the green tea ice cream really hit the spot.
