Stylus is an upscale boutique. You enter a long white-walled corridor filled with guys and gals getting their hair blown out, colored and styled. You're offered cucumber flavored water and instructed to sit down on a comfortable couch by a girl whose eyelashes have extended beyond what you previously thought possible. It doesn't matter if you're greeted by the same girl I was. The eyes all look the same. Must be a requirement. Happy hour salons. Happy happy happy. You skip down the narrow steps that lead to the lower level massage bar/nail parlor. It's just as clean as it's upstairs counterpart, but not as sterile. You sink into an overstuffed couch with colorful pillows while soaking your feet in a glass bowl filled with scented water and pebbles. Billy Holiday is playing and the woman soaking and scrubbing your feet has a soothing voice and the wisdom of Solomon (Kimberly- who's developing quite a fan base). You listen intently as she locates and describes the chakra openings of your arches and palms while rubbing granulated lotion into the specific locations. Time ebbs and flows with euphonious music and amusing chatter. And when it's over, you're whisked back upstairs to pay the bill. $50 (not including tip) for a happy hour mani-pedi. Hmm.. you were warned. Remember, this is an upscale botique. It smells better, looks cleaner and has girls with peacock lashes around every corner. You get what you pay for. read more

Overall a good experience. The receptionist was really friendly and helpful. My stylist took time to listen to what I wanted and didn't want. The salon is nice and bright. The haircut was $50 and I paid $6.50 for parking, and of course tipped. Making the whole thing about $68. I got a pretty good haircut and there was no snobby vibe. read more

I was talking to Kelly (who does my MAGNIFICENT eyelash extensions) about the tragic loss of my hair-doer... the only person I'd trusted to cut and color my hair had up and moved to LA, and my roots and split ends were out of control. Kelly recommended I go to Chantelle. I did. As soon as I strike it rich, Chantelle is officially a part of my Glam Squad (Kelly too, duh). Chantelle managed to transform my mess of a head into something beautiful. I was looking like my mom in the worst of her hippie years (hair down past the middle of my back), with inches of roots from veeeeery old highlights, and hairs split into 15 parts. I walked out looking like a Charlie's Angel. Chantelle gave me an amazing haircut. Low maintenance, flattering, and wears beautifully even as it grows out. As a blonde, I was scared to go darker... but I trusted her judgement, and went with the "ombre" look (darker roots, lighter tips, like roots on purpose). Better than I ever could have imagined. Just like my haircut, it wears well and grows well, and requires very little of me. The cherry on top is Chantelle's blowouts. It blew my mind--no pun intended. My hair normally falls flat in minutes, but she manipulates it into holding the sweetest curls! I didn't wash my hair for almost a week just to ride those curls out as long as possible, and they still looked fancy on day 4. I've now been to Chantelle 3 times. Once for a cut and color, twice for a touch up on my color, and every time for a blow out. Go to Chantelle for your hair! She's # 1!!!!! Go to Kelly for your eyelashes! After sticking around for FAR too long at another Seattle salon that fried my hair and scalp in multiple botched thermal reconditioning treatments, I finally made my way to Stylus. Three months of research via Yelp and word of mouth led me to schedule a consultation with Chantelle. When I showed up for the consultation, I found the salon manager super friendly and the atmosphere posh yet surprisingly relaxed. I immediately felt comfortable with Chantelle and it was obvious how educated, professional, and dedicated to her work she is. She took the time to walk me through the pros and cons of the different options they offer for curly-haired girls who want to go straight and we settled on a keratin treatment to help mask my growing out, too-straight hair (which I never wanted to begin with). Well, yesterday afternoon I went in for my actual appointment, and in a matter of four hours Chantelle had expertly highlighted, keratin treated, and cut my hair. (The same amount of time it used to take, by the way, for the stylist at my old salon to do "complex" color, aka a partial foil on top with one thick purple streak in the underlayers.) When she was done my hair was almost unrecognizable...and I was in love. Four hours may sound like a ridiculous amount of time to spend at the salon getting your hair done, and it is, but it's about the status quo for me since I get a lot done to my hair. To be able to have the color and keratin done in the same visit, all while enjoying Chantelle's sparkling personality and feeling pampered the entire time was like a revelation to me. I've been trusting my hair to Robert for 8 years. I was looking for a good stylist in Seattle and called up the salon he was at then (based on the fabulous reviews) and he was recommended for my asian hair. Since then, I have followed him while he moved to another salon and finally opened Stylus. Before Robert started cutting my hair, it was rare that I loved everything about my hair cut. With Robert's work, every hair cut that I've gotten has far exceeded my expectations and the cut looks great from the day I walk out of the salon until a few months later. I rarely know exactly what I want, but I'm usually after volume, easy maintenance, and a certain look, which changes almost every time. Over the years, he's done a chin-length bob, longer sleeker bob, razored edges, various lengths of layers for my hair - all very skillfully and in a way that looks good. For my wedding, I showed him pictures of 3 fairly different hairstyles that I wanted. He asked what I liked about each one and he was able to incorporate those elements for a perfect hairdo and he made it so that I could have it up for the ceremony and easily take it partially down for the reception. I couldn't believe how great my hair looked and how pretty it made me look. I also like that he works quickly. For the shampoo, cut and blow-dry, I'm usually out of there in 45 minutes. He is great to talk to. He's very conscientious about his work and isn't content unless his clients are extremely pleased. His haircuts are extremely well priced considering his incredible skill, talent, experience and the fact that I love the cut every time. I frequently get compliments on my hair and I've recommended him to many people who end up loving his work as well. I can't say enough great things about him! While I was happy with my haircut, I was made to wait close to 1/2 hour after my appointment time. I kinda/sorta got an apology from the front desk staff...but it was a weak attempt. So, by the time I actually got into the chair, I was just plain irritated. Sheesh, it was my lunch hour, I didn't have time to just sit in the lobby and twiddle my thumbs. Jeremy is awesome!! I came in to see him at Stylus after searching through other Yelp reviews. I came in for a haircut and a consultation on my hair color. We just did a trim because I am growing out my hair for my wedding, but he really listened to me and we had a conversation about my hair now, and long term. He explained everything so well and he really took the time to teach me ways to style my hair. Plus, he is really nice and fun to talk to! Was trying to schedule with Anna, but since she was booked out over a week, I let them schedule me with Robert. Although he did a great job, he is super expensive. I had a partial foil, and literally a trim, that cost me 225!!!! I almost died when she told me the cost. He literally put maybe 12 foils on me, mind you they were just root touch ups too!! And took an inch off my long hair. It was ridiculous for being there for 1.5 hrs!! Anna did a full color correction on me, all over color, partial highlights, and a full hair cut for only 200. Stuff like this makes me never want to go there again. I will never pay that much for the little amount of work he did. Sorry guys, but I don't think I'll be back. read more

I had heard about Jeremy at Stylus through friends and co workers as a stylist for a while and he has done my hair three times. He looked at my entire look and came up with a balayage for the back under pieces that were darker to lighten them up a bit. I was a hair model for a gal name JoElle and had one of the greatest hair experiences of my life. I've been a hair model on several occasions at both Seven Salon and Gary Manuel. Although those times were great and I came out with fab hair (for the most part), Stylus takes the cake. PROS: 1. PROFESSIONALISM. JoElle (and the man she was reporting to--I think his name was Rob) was as good as it gets. She asked me all the right questions ("when did you last color your hair," "how many times did you color your hair," "what colors", etc.) to investigate and confirm the nature of my hair. She then asked me what I wanted. I said I want something fresh for spring. I have black hair and told her "some cinnamon-y highlights, please." She told me what she was going to do to my hair so there would be no surprises. She ended up foiling my hair with a lifting product to remove the previous dye. After washing, she put in the color all over my head (think reverse highlighting), but because she only lifted the color from the strands she "foiled," the dye only showed up on those strands, giving it a highlighted look. She said "I think it's too light. I think we should go darker. But take a look and tell me what you want." I told her I agreed. After trying out a darker shade, she gave me a great blow-out. I feel so hot right now as I write this! She was just so confident, yet sought feedback from her teacher to make sure she was on the right track. If a student like her gave me such a great look, I can only imagine what a full-time, graduated hair stylist can do! 2. SPEED. At Seven Salon or Gary Manuel, highlighting often took FOUR hours. At Stylus, I was out of there in two (granted, she put me underneath the heater to hasten things along). 3. SERVICE. Head massage while shampooing (soooo nice). Naturally flavored water to drink (cucumber, lemon, and I can't recall the third flavor). Plus, everyone was SO friendly, good at making conversation to pass the time, etc. For only being open for two years, they do a great job at Stylus. read more

Well neighbors I came for a new Stylus for my Palm Pilot, & left with a great haircut, color & all! This place is hip, classy, & good to their neighbors. There's rotating local art on the walls, cucumber water, & a staff that will take your cardigan & make you feel right at home. I was introduced to Jacqui & after a consultation was in her chair for a much needed cut & color. We touched up my grey hairs , splashed it with some salt & pepper, & hit the tips with some black. The cut was a step up from my usual, adding texture & playing with my happy little cowlicks. I felt like Mike D from Beastie Boys before they got old like me. Jacqui is Grrrrreat! I recently moved to Seattle and am trying new salons. My first stop was Stylus and I was not disappointed. My appointment started on time and Courtney was really friendly. She did an awesome job with my cut and highlights. I told her my hair texture was getting tangled more easily (it was taking a couple of minutes to brush out after I washed it). I don't know what she did but it is super soft again and only takes seconds to brush through now - even a week later. The price was also very reasonable for Seattle- $130 for cut and partial highlights (before tip). Love the online scheduling as well! read more

Courtney was amazing at fixing my hair color. I am a happy customer right now. I got a few streaks of hair color a month ago from other place, and it was fading badly and needed a retouch. She was brilliant at counselling me as I wanted to go closer to my actual hair color. She knows the technicalities behind the hair, and gave me some good suggestions. Although the hair color didn't come out to be as dark as we wanted, I liked my color and she also asked me to visit again if I need a darker tone on it in future. I came in yesterday for a full set of volume lash extensions done by Anissa. It was my first time trying the volume lash extensions and I love how soft they feel! She did a great job; she made me feel relaxed and comfortable throughout the process too, which not all lash artists do (from my experience). I came yesterday for a cut and color by Chantelle. My friend has been seeing her for years and recommended her when I was having difficulty searching for a new stylist in the city. I went in with long damaged colored hair and walked out many inches lighter and color back to a natural dark brunette with dimension. I am SO happy with my hair it feels the healthiest its been in forever. Chantelle was very thorough and wanted to be sure she was giving me the color and cut I wanted. I caught her on her last day at this salon (she's moving over to Collage) but overall had a nice experience at Stylus. The front desk receptionist was very sweet and welcoming. I was nervous about finding a salon when I moved to Seattle last fall, having loved my previous stylist in New York. But I knew that someone had to take on the great challenge of taming my thick wavy hair (I've been compared to an Irish setter) and thankfully that person was Jacqui! She is amazingly thorough and exact in making sure that my just above the shoulder cut is even and that my bangs fall just-so. (She also graciously offers to trim those bangs for free in between appointments.) Jacqui's transformed my thick long wavy mane into a cute trendy long bob with side bangs. I knew I'd won the battle when a coworker said she couldn't believe my hair is naturally curly. The space itself is nice too. Open, bright, but not overly fussy. Some weird art on the walls that makes for good conversation. Nicole at the front desk is friendly to everyone who walks in, and so helpful. In short, this place is great service without the attitude, and I can't say that I ever had that option in New York! read more

Jeremy Novak truly the best stylist I have ever had. I followed him from a previous salon in Seattle. He is consistantly great, creative, fun, honest, caring. I am almost 50 and he keeps me fashion forward without looking foolish. He edits my ideas to work on my head. I am naturally blonde with not a lot of hair and I have had so many spectacular different blondes and great hair cuts over the years. He loves what he does and it shows. Today was my first time at this salon and I love it! It has a wonderfully relaxing ambience, but also has good energy. I came here for a stylist I have been going to for over a year and is amazing, but recently relocated to Stylus salon. Jeremy Novak is a talented stylist that I found shortly after moving to Seattle. I am a super picky blond that pulls warm tones and from the beginning Jeremy has always been able to get my color exactly the shade and tone that I want. His cuts are also great. I have thick wavy hair that tends to be bushy and not fall right if it is not cut correctly, but like the color he also nailed my cuts from the beginning. Like me, Jeremy is also super particular so I know I am in good hands and feel confident that I will be happy after every appointment. read more

BEST FACIAL EVER! BEST PEDICURE EVER! This review is long overdue, but necessary. The facial: Before Stylus, I didn't think facials were all that great. I just did them every now and then because I thought it was the right thing to do for my skin. Then I got a facial from Kelly. Being a noob to facials, I still don't know what they do to/put on your skin. All I can tell you about is the massage part and how my skin looked afterward. I've had facials that are far from relaxing, especially when the technician is extremely rough on your face and it feels like you're getting slapped and prodded. With Kelly, I was almost in heaven. I don' t think I could ever fall asleep during a facial (because I find the extractions uncomfortable, and I know that can't be helped), but I almost did. And I wish the scalp massage never stopped! After the facial, the cashier remarked that my skin looked great. To me, it looked the same as always, but with shiny product on it. However, after all the product had absorbed, my skin actually did look great, and not just that day, but for days after. My skin glowed so brightly, you'd think I was carrying baby Jesus! The pedicure: Kimberly made me feel like royalty! It was like meeting up with a long-lost friend who did her best to make you feel comfortable and taken care of! She prepared the foot soak right in front of me and took the time to explain everything she added. The service really went above and beyond any pedicure I have ever had. So worth the price!!
