I paid a lot and tipped very well just for it to look like an amateur cut my hair. Don't come here. I regret coming here as I looked better with my dead ends. I could've cut my own hair better which I have. This was supposed to be a pick me up to make me feel beautiful now 2 days later I am in regret not feeling like how I should and wanted. Sooooo expensive and terrible results. Also they could've been friendlier. I felt she got tired blow drying my hair. They are supposed to be knowledgeable in long, thick hair, curly hair, wavy hair. When I asked about it, he told me, "I wish I had more time to flat iron your roots, but I have another client coming up." Instead, a large amount of wax/product was applied to try to flatten my hair. When I brought this up to the receptionist, she told me blowouts don't include hot tools. She also checked Anthony's schedule after I mentioned his comment about another client, and there didn't appear to be anyone immediately after me. For being over $100, I expected the service to be tailored to the look I requested, especially after paying for extra time. Unfortunately, I left disappointed and am now back at my hotel trying to fix my hair myself. What a waste.

However, the last few calls, I can only say a sentence before the stylist abruptly hangs up. For example: "Hello, do you have any coloring appointments available ?" "Sorry, no, I work by myself" *hangs up* A few months later: "Hello, do you have a hair cutting appointment this week?" "Sorry, no, we're completely booked. I work by myself" *hangs up* No opportunity to ask for other availabilities or anything (I'm pretty flexible with my schedule but based on my interactions, I have not been able to inquire about alternative times). This has happened at least 4 times so it's a miracle if you can get an appointment before getting hung up on. Also, before, the weekends were walk ins only but once I walked in, and was told to set up an appointment... When I do have an appointment, there's also no confirmation asked either before my session starts. I understand the hair stylist works on her own, but I've been to many small business salons with only 1 stylist and never had this many issues with setting up appointments or feel like the stylist is trying to get me off the phone as soon as possible so she can continue working on current customer (from the times I was able to cut my hair here, this seems to be the case!)

I wanted to avoid the intimidating hipper-than-thou Capitol Hill experience, and Swing was welcoming and low-key. Eric consulted with me briefly about my hair and looked at pics of past haircuts I've had and liked. He did something I've never had a stylist do: dry my hair lightly and scrunch it up to show how the cut would look as a wash-and-go. This was really helpful and I wish all stylists would do it! He offers free bang trims between cuts, and said that if I wasn't happy with the way he did the layering around my face (which was slightly different from my previous cut), I could come back and have it fixed free. But I've already gotten so many compliments on my cut today that I don't think I'll need to! A shampoo/cut/style was $45 for long hair, which seemed reasonable. Eric wasn't pushy or trying to hawk products, which I appreciated -- it's awkward having to fend off the upselling while your cut is in progress.
