I loved my meal here. I had the ribeye which was great, along with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Service was excellent and friendly. I was starving and asked for bread out quick which they accommodated despite it not being on the menu as an app. We had a little lag for our food, but they were slammed busy, not a single spot open at the bar or the tables. We were on the road on a Sunday night while exploring the Olympic Peninsula and looking for a place to eat. After a first attempt where a restaurant's hours were not updated, we found Stymie's in Sequim. It's one of the restaurants at Cedars at Dungeness golf course (the other one is Double Eagle Steak and Seafood). It seems to be the more casual of the two options and we opted for it since we were in hiking clothes. The hostess told us we could walk in and try to find a table. She warned us it might be a long wait. Thankfully, we found a place to sit right away and a waiter gave us waters and a menu. We ordered cups of clam chowder to start. Thankfully they were out quickly. We got drinks while we waited for our food. The Dungeness crab Mac and cheese was listed as an appetizer, so we assumed it was a small portion. My husband got the fish and chips and I got pasta with shrimp. We got our entrees first, so we thought maybe the waitress had forgotten we ordered the Mac and cheese since they were so busy. She then apologized for the wait and said she'd be bringing it out shortly. We weren't planning on asking about it because their portions are very generous and even though we were hungry, we realized it was so much food. When the Dungeness crab Mac and cheese finally came out, it wasn't in a small cup, it was a whole bowl of delicious goodness. The Mac and cheese was resting in some sort of sauce and they were extremely generous with the crab. I loved that you could control the ratio with each bite. I wish I had taken pictures of the menu and its description, but all you need to know is that it's the BEST Mac and cheese I've ever had. I was floored that it wasn't mentioned in any review nor pictures. Maybe it's a new addition. Don't walk, RUN if you're nearby. You won't regret it and it will be worth the wait. Damn good local bar! This spot hits the mark with a surprisingly great booze and wine selection--better than you'd expect in a small-town joint. The food? Equally impressive. First of all the restaurant looks out in the golf course and of course it's beautiful. You can eat inside or out. We were there for breakfast and I appreciated that I could order a smaller meal. One egg, one French toast and two link sausage. Perfect for me and really good. What I most appreciated was the fact that we could sit and talk. My family & I often dine at Stymie's. Tonight was a special occasion, my daughter & son - in -law's 16th wedding anniversary. We use to get cards in the mail for $10.00 off for birthdays & anniversary's, but lately we have not been receiving any. Our waitress, Cloe could give us an explanation, except to fill out a new form. After waiting for some time to place our order, she some how placed my grandson's order on hold. His dad was finished with his meal before he every received his Burger. Cloe only offered a free salad, for her mistake! Upon receiving our bill, Cloe failed to take off my 15% discount for being a Totem card holder. We had to wait for this correction. Then she returns after making a several passes by our table with the bill, but we had to wait longer again for a pen. She spent more time chatting up top of the stairs! Our party of 5 were discourage, to say the less & hope we never have her again, if we should decide to ever come back. I love the Chicken-Blueberry Salad, the Chicken Marsala, and several other meals. And sometimes I enjoy a tall cold beer with my meal, and they always have a delicious beer I can test with my meal. We are new to this area... and what a treasure to have found this place tonight. This is the best meal we've had since we moved up here. I had the tofu and pearl couscous cous dinner and my wife had the pecan crusted salmon. The ingredients were super fresh and plated beautifully. What a little jewel off the beaten path. I can't say enough positive things about the service, food and location. This is located at a golf course. It's beautiful there. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. There's a cute pond outside with water lilies, which was very pretty. It was crowded inside, but we just sat wherever we wanted. Service was pretty bad; we waited a long time for everything. We ordered fish and chips, and the crab roll with cedar chips. The fish and chips was good. But the crab roll and cedar chips was a huge disappointment. The crab was very tiny, and the hard cedar chips basically took up the whole plate. Which I would say is a 1/4 of prime rib left and 1/2 my salad. He complained of a lack of flavor but the consistency he loved! I really appreciated the tv in the bathrooms. For an avid sports watcher that was a perk. There were also disposable containers inside the restrooms for the diabetic patrons. The staff was friendly, helpful, kind, and very attentive. This restaurant sits on a golf course so it has excellent views. It has plenty of parking, a huge paved lot. There are several restaurants so when you go in, it's the one to the immediate right. The staff are really friendly and welcoming! The interior is cozy and inviting but still seems somewhat upscale-ish...like a fancy dive bar maybe? Several tv screens show sports and there's a bar to sit at, as well as tables and outdoor seating options. They're doing well on the Covid safety measures, everyone wore masks and there were hand sanitizer stations available as well as spaced out and limited seating. I ordered the clam chowder and then the mushroom ravioli with steak and blue cheese sauce. I have never liked blue cheese so was hesitant, but the staff highly recommended it so I gave it a try and wow! All of it was fabulous! Enjoyed our dinner here. Wait staff was hustling on a busy night. One waiter and a porter handling about a dozen tables. A few small gaps in service, but quite acceptable and really quite good considering. A nice venue with a golf course view, and a nice ambiance all around. Both entrees were somewhat overcooked. Prior to our lunch here we hadn't been too impressed on Sequim's restaurant selections, but suffice it to say Stymies changed our minds. It's on a golf course which makes the view from outdoor dining so beautiful, especially on a nice spring day. The service was a little bit slower than we would have liked but our server Junko was amazing and definitely made up for the wait. My hubby had the cod fish and chips and loved every bit of it. I contacted the restaurant through their website over a month ago and told them of my problem; gave them my contact information and they ignored it. So, now I'll make my complaint here on Yelp for everyone to see. Your employee JADEN accused me of forging a $10 off coupon. She was rude and sarcastic when she right out told me I forged the date on the card to get $10.00 off. I told her it came to me in the mail exactly how it looked when I handed it to her. She laughed in my face and said: "You know you changed it" And then she took the couple in line BEHIND me, and when I asked to be seated, she told me there was a 20-minute wait.
