The salmon and egg breakfast was one of the smallest I've ever seen. And it lacked a a critical ingredient--salmon! The dish sat on top of three standard slices of tomato with a considerable amount of tomato visible at the edges.. It looked like a single egg with three fingernail sized pieces of salmon augmented by greasy, overcooked onion slices. $21! (After my complaint, they deducted $4 from the price.) We were never asked if we wanted coffee. When we finally had cups in front of us, we had to summon the waitress for refills. There was an error on the bill that favored the restaurant. A very nice setting with a wonderful view, but Stymies falls far short of many expected restaurant food and service standards. I had the seafood cocktail which included 2 large shrimp and about three tablespoons of Dungeoness crab. Cocktail sauce was spicy and delicious. The seafood was delicious as well. Their clam chowder, served in a small cup was also totally yummy and a tiny bit thicker than I like, but still had exceptional flavor. They were out of oysters which made me sad. I also had a tasty Crème Brûlée for dessert which was very small. I'm a small person and I don't eat a lot, but even for me the portions here were very small. Service was outstanding. Very good food and very good prices especially if you watch like what is on special on the menu that day they have like steaks for very inexpensive prices more expensive than I would have guessed I have eaten a variety of things here and they are all up to par with what I was expecting and the ambience is very great especially in the bathroom however do not eat anything with mushrooms there it will not be appealing to you then and especially not later but everything else was very great and the service is always great as well and if you go to the casino and you have your players card you can go there and use it also so make sure meal even cheaper it is like expensive place with a good price I will definitely go back someday when I decided to go out and eat more again I am still a bit shy because of Covid read more

We stopped here for a late dinner after a long hike. Started off with the onion rings and they were perfectly crisp and very nicely seasoned. Really good rings. I ordered the house burger with bacon and it was outstanding. The bun was freshly toasted and held everything nicely and did not fall apart, the half pound patty was fresh and beautifully seasoned and cooked to a perfect mid-rare as requested, all the veggies were very fresh and paired nicely in the burger as did the generous helping of bacon and cheese. The side of sweet potato fries were perfect too and I requested some ranch to dunk those in which made things even better. Overall an absolutely outstanding burger. My wife got the veggie burger and it was really delicious. The house made patty was probably one of the nicest veggie patties I've tasted and they clearly put a lot of thought and care into it. My friend also ordered the stuffed portabella entree and he seemed to really like it. Overall the food was excellent, the service was top notch and very friendly, especially considering that we showed up 20 minutes before they closed and stayed on well after, I genuinely appreciate the smiles and energy with which they took care of us after what I'm sure was a hard day. Will definitely recommend this place and go back here the next time I'm in Sequim. read more

I stumbled upon this place and was so happy to have done so! It was kismet. Everything from drinks, food, service, and cost were great. Stymie's is located on a beautiful green golf course. The location is beautiful and luckily Stymie's has windows throughout show casing the beauty of the course. This makes me want to be more of a golf enthusiast. They have daily specials and daily happy hour. The special happened to be the chicken parmesan, which was wonderful! Incredibly flavorful and large portions! I also had the steak mushroom ravioli with blue cheese. Holy cow! It was so great! Full of flavor. The steak cut like butter. All I needed was some bread to sop up that blue cheese sauce. I will say this, my only complaint was that the meals do not include a salad or any bread, which is something to consider. Once upon a time I highly recommended Stymies, but no longer. The appetizer menu use to be a large selection of nicely priced items that became amazing prices during Happy Hour. Now it's small, overpriced and no Happy Hour. The burger deal on Sundays use to be worthwhile, but the last couple times I tried it was no flavor, dry and shockingly unappealing for a place with high standards. I use to come 2x-3x a week several years ago, now it's 1x a year to see if the situation has improved. To be fair, the quality of most of the food is quite good, but it comes at a price for sure. I miss the affordable selection but it's always busy so there's no reason for them to go back to that. read more

Stopped here with a friend last weekend - she is a new to the area, and had already been there once before and loved it. So, she wanted to visit it again. We were not disappointed! We arrived for a late lunch on Sunday, and easily got a table overlooking the golf course. Our server Julie, was infinitely patient as we looked over the menu, trying to decide what to get. She recommended some great beer - I had an Anderson Valley Salted Caramel Porter which was amazing! 8 ounces for $4. I finally decided on the spicy Chicken Thai wrap for about $14. It came with a variety of 'side' choices, and I got a salad. The wrap was huge, filled with chicken, basil, slaw, cucumbers, and a great peanut sauce. It was delicious, and got to take some home. The salad had their house balsamic vinaigrette, which was super delicious and full of fresh basil. My friend had a 'melt' with dungenness crab, shrimp, asparagus, and grueyere cheese (for around $18), and it was delicious as well; well worth the price. It also came with a variety of "side" choices, and she got the sweet potato fries. Hot, crisp and delicious. Lots of crab meat and shrimp. Lots of space in the dining room, a few tables outside, great views. And did I mention that our server Julie was a gem? She helped us make selections and her advice was spot on. No loud music. There are stairs to various levels in the dining room, but certainly tables on one level for easier navigation. Bathroom adorable and spotless. Please note: it is easy to zoom past Stymies as you drive on Woodcock. The sign in front is set back from the street, so be sure to look for it within the first few blocks of Woodcock, on the right. Better than before Covid! It's been more than a year since we'd eaten there and didn't know quite what to expect. We are fish and chips connoisseurs and before Covid Stymies was in the top 5 but now they're in the top 2 and certainly the best in Sequim. The fish was fried to a crisp, not greasy, with a beer batter. The cod was white and melted in my mouth. I tasted my husband's sweet potato fries and wish I'd ordered them even though the regular fries (medium --not skinny and not steak fries) were great. The menu has more tempting items than I remember -- halibut and chips, crab cake burgers... can't wait to try them. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable -- just like before. read more

We caught ourselves in the middle of the Olympia's on a Sunday night with very few restaurants open. Google maps led us to Stymies. We were pleasantly surprised! Stymies is located on a golf course. It looks very new. It's your typical golf clubhouse restaurant with the typical fare you'd expect to find. My wife and daughter shared the nachos. Instead of tortilla chips they used fresh homemade potato chips. They we full of cheese, chicken, chorizo, mango salsa etc. They enjoyed them but they were a little dry. My other daughter had the fish n chips. She gobbled it up. It did look tasty. I had the Cedar burger with bacon. It was excellent! Perfectly cooked and a good amount of bacon it came with homemade chips but they were a little overcooked and dry. They needed seasoning. The service started out real slow but improved at the end. Overall Stymies was a good experience. If you're on the NE side of the Olympia's I'd suggest giving Stymies a try. read more

We really had some trouble finding this place, as it wasn't clearly marked and we weren't from the area. We got inside and the place was packed. It took more than an hour to get Happy Hour food and a burger. When I inquired, the bartender/server stated that it hadn't been over an hour. "Yeah, it's been an hour and 10 minutes." "When,since you got here?" she replied. "No, since we ordered" we explained. "Huh, guess it doesn't seem like that long since I'm on this side of the bar..." Not exactly how a client likes to be treated. This actually resulted in a much lower tip than we intended on leaving. She seemed to have a smart alecky kind of tone as we watched her throughout the evening. As a small business owner, I know that's not who I would put up front dealing with clients but that's just me. Literally the WORST experience I've ever had. When we first walk in and get seated and have our drinks ordered, we get asked to move to another table. Then we sat there waiting while everyone who sat down after us got their food. Then the manager tells us "they lost the ticket" so we got no food AFTER asking where our food was from the server (lady with short blonde hair) THREE TIMES!!! First place I ever walked out and left! Definitely the classiest bar in the area. The food is always fresh and perfectly prepared and the menu is always updating so you won't get board. I have eaten here many times over the years and found it is always getting better with time, the wait staff is friendly and the management always stays involved so things never get out of hand. The tribe has spent a ton of money decking the place out with new outdoor seating and new wind breakers, it can be downright lovely to come set out watch the sun set over the mountains over a fine diner. If you are hungry, and within 30 miles, this place is a must! I love the ambiance, it is very nicely done. On top of that, the food is right up there. Very diverse selections, with traditional favorites, and some great seafood offerings, which I demand in a coast-side restaurant. The service is nice and friendly as well. You can tell there are always a ton of locals there, who frequent this place often. That's always a good sign. If you are looking for an app, I recommend the Calamari. We had a 12 day trip, traveling all over Washington. Stymies was the best meal of our trip. Everyone raves about their meal. I had the thick pork chop. My sister had the salmon.
