8/10 good stuff eaten here a ton as it's a very short distance to travel. service is nice, they show you their process of making the ice cream itself which is a unique feature. their brand of nitrogen ice cream is very novel among ice cream places located in sarasota and its quite good, as it has a very wide selection of flavors, toppings, and even bases. the ice cream itself is delicious as well. only real complaint is that due to it being flash frozen it has quite the "icy" feel; it's akin to getting your tongue stuck to a metal pole in the northern winter. this is really just a nitpick on my part however and i do recommend trying this establishment if you can. read more

We hosted a group of 14-year-old girls at Sub Zero Ice Cream, and the visit was a big hit. The kids got to choose their ice cream base. They went with the original cream which was rich and delicious. Each of them selected different flavors and came up with fun, creative combinations. If I had ordered for myself, I would have picked all chocolate, and their creations looked great to me. Afterward, they added mix-ins like Oreos, candy, and nuts, and then froze everything with liquid nitrogen. We got a coupon to come here from my child's school, so I took all 3 kids. The owner was working and he and his staff member were so nice. The price is fairly comparable to other ice cream shops but the flavor combos are unlimited which is pretty cool. The ice cream is made fresh while you watch. Pretty good ice cream. Definitely a cool process to watch, and the staff explain how they are making the ice cream along the way. There are tons of options to choose from, in order to customize your creation. For the ice cream base, there are original, low fat, custard, and dairy-free options, although each is a pre-made mix that the store purchases from a supplier, so they couldn't really tell me the difference between original and low fat. The staff recommended original to me. Then there are many ice cream flavors to choose from, and toppings to mix in as well. The ice cream can get pricey quickly because the base price only includes your first mix-in (additional ones are 75 cents each). I opted for a mocha ice cream with brownie bites and almond pieces. The ice cream was pretty good, but the brownie bites were terrible - large chunks of chewy tastelessness. Next time I'll skip those. Overall, the ice cream doesn't have the creaminess you might get from an artisan ice cream shop, but you do get to customize your ice cream just the way you want it. read more

The concept of this is very cool and fun to watch. The staff was very polite. I saw other reviews where customers said the process was explained to them. That was not the case for us so it was a little confusing. The one thing I really liked about the choices were that there were different ice cream types such as low fat, gluten free, fat free, and others. I am adding a picture of the menu so you can see the different options. The ice cream tasted like any other ice cream. You are limited to one topping coming with your choice though so others are extra. In this regard, I prefer Cold Stones where multiple items are allowed to make certain flavors. There is a good amount of seating inside, and some extra tables outside. We had never had this type of ice cream and it was really good. My husband ordered his own mix with mango and other toppings and it was good. I likes that the toppings looked fresh. Flash freeze ice cream with liquid nitrogen. Saw this on TV and wanted to try it. The best part is the amount of options including custard, no sugar, lactose free, vegan, and gluten free ice cream. During December it probably isn't the best time for ice cream but I imagine this place is amazing during the blazing summers. I chose the almond and was extremely satisfied. Next, you choose a flavor, or two. So many options! Then you choose your mix ins, candy, nuts, fruit etc. And next you watch the magic happen right before your eyes. For you chemistry geeks, it's really about the science in how liquid nitrogen freezes the liquid into ice cream in about 15 seconds. For those who don't want to customize, they have already created tried and true options. Yumminess is what happens. They also have smoothies and shakes. My daughter loved her strawberry smoothie. The owner told us that he owns this one, located on Clark rd in Sarasota and the siesta key location. Another one will be coming to Fort Myers soon. Cryogenic Ice Cream that would make Ted Williams envious. Ok--the process is cool. You start with liquid, get a shot of Nitrogen, lots of smoke and mirrors, and voila; ice cream! Bottom line; it comes down to the taste. It's just ok, hence the 3 star. The prices are very reasonable too (on the cheap side for the amount you receive). Terrible service and bad attitudes , there was no experience behind it just paid way to much for ice cream . When We walked in they were playing rap music talking about ass and p***y and after being inside for about 45 sec they realized we were there with children and turned it off . We were then asked if she needed to do her job by telling us what goes on there .
