Update June 21st Summary: They'll make things right. Just reach out if something sounds amiss. Here's what Happened since my Original post: Service Manager Jason reached out. I was pleasantly surprised as I was shocked they read Yelp. First, he owned everything showing he read my review for understanding. Phone lines were problematic but no excuse. McKenzie/Mackenzie is new and that's no excuse were his offerings. Second, bring it in and we'll get on top of things. Y'all that's the standard. ** Having paperwork done before our arrival and making things seamless is the WIN! - I had a conference call to get to and yes, work is always going. Third, he followed up when he hadn't heard from me but I'm not the one to text and drive or email and drive plus I'm always in the manual transmission so it's not smart to try it. At any rate, picked up family and got the email sent off with all our details. I was told to expect Jordan but he's back in the office so it could be done today. 4th, we arrived to Jordan being versed and aware. Another advisor also knew Jordan was the point of contact and pointed us in her way while explaining. My word, I wish every interaction could be like this for service Nowadays. Anywhoo,we received a video and I didn't think much of it. Dealers have been texting since 2014 in my experience but this was the tech showing his work. They reached out to our limited warranty folks which I'd never advise to buy or pickup but new driver to a manual transmission made me say get that extended warranty. Anywhoo, I have them time to reach out and Jason followed up with details and his efforts. * Warranty folks have their process and won't do any work * Jason reached out to Subaru to see what they'd do. I followed up with my warranty folks and relayed what they told me which was essentially break down the engine (added costs) and then complete these steps and we shall do our part. Break down is $2600 so we opted out. I was holding out hope that Subaru would meet us half way/split the baby then I'd happily get the shortblock replacement ALAS another day and they said only 1k. We were charged for diagnostic then reduced it to $89. Shocked there was a charge as the dealer in Illinois didn't and we're bringing it under a warranty but to each their own. Consumption test done in January 2025 showed this thing is burning oil. I'm just a girl but yeah .. it's not on the ground and there's a fresh oil change but Concord didn't know this so they did their own homework and alas.... Little to no oil left and we just had an oil change the month prior. C'est la vié I was had on this used car purchase. In all things, they promptly respond to my emails. You can text or call so communication works here. I'm usually at work so text and email is best for me. I do wish they had an online process for paying and checking out. They are near a Walmart and Ollie's so more inside the city of Concord. Not right off 85. The Forester loaner wasn't clean but it's new so what could be bad or wrong about a 2025 anything. Of course, it's fully loaded which makes me itchy to get out of it ASAP to ensure I don't overspend on a new car with all the amenities. Stunned that Subaru didn't see the long picture as we are now shopping for a new car with AWD because yes.... We must still manage the Midwest winters. Their repair offer was nice just not sufficient if you're looking to keep loyalty and most Subaru owners are clicky-loyal. They got on top of the original repair needed and we got the numbers worked out. Think I was impressed with reading the Yelp review? Well, addressing the cost difference, that I didn't get in writing, for the repairs is another win In all, 1. Speak up. This place doesn't get offended or rude like some places 2. I wasn't offended with my Monday call just didn't trust what I was being hence why I gave 3 stars. 3. They should give notice to loaner folks to put up a dog cover or clean up after themselves. 4. Life is so much easier with helpful accountable people in jobs that they like and/or respect. read more

Salesman Brandon was great. Not pushy, very informative and completely honest. Service department was great as well for our first scheduled maintenance. HOWEVER, the General Manager was a total jerk. He should not be working for Subaru. He got on my case for turning off the rear collision system because we had a problem with it backing into our steep driveway. It would slam on the brakes and shut the engine off while I still in the road. He was so rude I traded-in my 2025 Outback just to get away from Subaru. No more Subaru of Concord for us again. read more

I can only share my own experience with Subaru Concord, and it has always been positive. They have serviced two of our previous vehicles, a Forester and an Outback Touring XT. Because of our satisfaction, we decided to trade in our old car and purchase a new 2025 Outback Touring XT from them in November 2025. While I would never describe buying a car as a truly pleasant experience, this recent purchase at Subaru Concord was about as good as it gets. They treated us with respect, and I felt that they worked with us to secure a fair price and terms. We definitely plan to continue using their services in the future. read more

I was very disappointed in the service department. We had an appointment for 9:30 for a service was was supposed to take no more than 3 hours. over 6 hours later they were finished with our car. Apparently they did not even start our car until about noon. People with no appointment were put in front of us. Why did I bother to get an appointment if it is not going to be honored? read more

This is my 3rd lease from Subaru Concord. The first time was very good. 2nd time, I was not pleased, since I had negotiated a monthly payment with one sales rep, had to wait a couple of months for the car, and another rep would not honor the negotiated price. This time, I am not pleased with the price, but I agreed. Now I find out that all paperwork has not been done. I find out by getting strange voicemails that sounded to me like spam/scam calls. They came during my workday; never when I am at home and can vet the calls. I tried to call back, was transferred to someone who supposedly be able to clarify, only to be sent to voicemail. I leave a message, then no call back. When I am finally made aware of what is going on, it's at the last minute, when I am sent a link to complete asap. Since this is after work and I have another matter that needs taking care of immediately, I decide to save the Subaru link until the next day, only to find that the link has expired. I bought a Subaru Ascent from this dealer in January 2025. At the end of May the dealer warranty calls started daily! Sometimes twice a day. Only buy a car from this place if you are okay with the daily harassment! Had I known buying a car from this dealership would cause these never ending harassing phone calls I wouldn't have bought it. Jul 16, 2024 Subject: Consumer Dissatisfaction with Subaru Concord (DEAL#41470 / Cust#215106 Dealer Code 400201) To Whom It May Concern I, took delivery of a 2024 Outback Onyx XT, on March 30, 2024. The purchase was made as part of the VIP program with Leave No Trace. Several options were added to the car which were not immediately available for installation; therefore, the car was left at the dealership in hopes that the options ordered, a CD player and Wireless Phone Charger, would become available in a timely manner. After several days I was informed that the options would take a considerable amount of time for delivery and installation, so the decision was made to remove the options from the contract which would result in a refund of $764. On April 3, a formal email was written to John Grady to cancel the options. I was informed the refund would be sent in approximately 3-4 weeks. I followed up with the salesperson, John G, in mid-May to get an update on the refund and John apologized for the delay and said that the person responsible for sending the check had been sick. I have reached out to John G, Kevin W, the Finance and Insurance Manager, and John P, the General manager of Subaru of Concord to get a status update and have received no responses or phone calls updating me on the status of the refund. I have sent emails dated Jul 1, 2024 Jun 20, 2024 Jun 11, 2024 May 9, 2024 April 17, 2024 I have also left messages twice with no response. The customer care and response has been non-existent and shows a lack of professionalism that should not be tolerated. This was a simple matter that could have been handled with communication. If I could leave a business 0 stars I would for this dealership. We took my car in to get one thing fixed and they destroyed my car it was running perfectly fine before their service guys touched my car. We had to go back multiple times for the same issue that they "repaired" and another thing when my car was "fixed" the first time they had called me (wrong person) and told me I needed a new engine because there was a crack in the crankshaft and they were only supposed to work on the AC and not even 30 minutes later had called me to let me know my car was ready to get picked up. So we were working with Subaru of Charlotte when we saw several cross trecks in Concord. We were down to a ford or a Subaru and this was it. The Subaru was a little over our budget so I called them to ask if the price on the year old low mileage suv as negotiable. I was told" yes ma'am, we will do whatever it takes to make a sale and its the end of the month so please come one down". I made an appointment and drove the hour down there to find the person I spoke to hand us off to another sales person. They had like 7 of the same cars, all off a lease, so we drove it and then started to negotiate. Want to know how much they cane down? $50.00. Hello, yes 50.00 . Wasted 3. Or 4 hours of our time and then we wen to Ford and purchased a SUV. I mean if you are not negotiable on your prices, don't con the customer. It leaves a bad taste in their mouths. I liked this dealership UNTIL a month came and went and the 30 day temporary tag expired on our new Forester. I called the dealership and just learned they NEVER submitted the registration and tag paperwork we paid them nearly $100 for. The dealer rep I spoke to told me there was a "problem" processing our paperwork, which caused a delay. So, we paid Concord Subaru $40K for a Forester and almost $100 to register and get tags for our car, and I find out they just today submitted that paperwork, so it will now be weeks before we get new tags. Be VERY cautious with this dealership...I definitely DON'T recommend them! read more

Just bought my second Subaru in four years. I moved from a Forester to an Outback for more room and safety. Joe Powers was my sales person and he was attentive, knowledgeable and timely with his response to all of my questions. No pressure at all to purchase a Subaru - as the product sells itself. It's a great car. Zac was the Finance Manager and I found him to be very knowledgeable and service-oriented. It still takes way too long to close a deal, but that's not due to the individuals that helped us. Nonetheless, I walked away pleased about the end-to-end purchase process. I bought a new Forrester at this dealership, and the sales process was about what you would expect. My experience with the Sales side of the business was flawless. For sales, I'd rate them 5 Stars. For Service, however, they rate NO stars. I took it in for the 7,500 mile service, and had to wait nearly three hours. I'm pretty sure this was a basic inspection and an oil change. Quite a wait when you have an appointment. No efforts were made to let us know what was taking so long, I had to hunt down the service manager to ask. When making the appointment, I was told this would take less than an hour. Recently, at just over 10,000 miles the check engine light came on. I took my vehicle in, and finally after two hours was told it was fine, but the ECM needed updated to change some thresholds. That was Monday. Today, the light has came back on again. Obviously they didn't fix it. The service department here is totally incompetent and could care less about you or your vehicle. Do yourself a favor and don't go here. Update: I've since been having my Forrester serviced at the Subaru dealership in Mooresville. It's a MUCH better experience, and I highly recommend them. read more

Sales experience was good. They they are transparent on the price. An "out the door" price is truly that here if you ask for it. Once agreed on a price any extra warranties are disclosed as optional and there was no pressure to add on- just a brief recommendation to do so. We originally came to see a used vehicle, but the condition of the interior was not what we expected. We drove from out of town to see it so it would have been nice if we had of known, but I understand. When we pointed out the flaws in the used car they were transparent about the history of the previous owner. Unfortunately they couldn't move on the price and we looked at a new one for curiosity. We ended up getting in a new vehicle which was more than we originally planned to spend (but still could afford it). We left the dealership with a price from them on a new one and thought about it for a few minuets then came back and made the deal. If you say no they will take your answer, but they do try and close the deal as expected. They are friendly in the way they work so that keeps my review positive for this dealer. I don't have any experience with service since we live out of town. read more

I have had major problems with the electronics with a 2018 Outback that I purchased from Subaru Concord and could never get them to hook the car up and see if they could find the problem. At the suggestion of Subaru America I took it to Williams Subaru and after leaving it there this morning they found the problem and have ordered the part. Disappointing expereince. I choose to work with Concord Subaru specifically because their webpage used the Subaru template that includes the tagline 'Never pay over MSRP.' I work in higher education which means I do a lot of research, check my sources, and make sure I read all the fine print. After working with the online team--and being handed off by Trey the 'Online Sales Manager' to Katie without being informed--I agreed to come into the dealership to place an order and pay $1000 deposit. Unfortunately, the Sales Manager had no intention of honoring the price quoted on the Subaru website once I was in the showroom. I feel sorry for my actual sales person, I believe he is a good guy who was forced by his sales manager to insult the intelligence of a customer and walk a sale. I will continue my research to track down the contact information for both the owner of the dealership and to file a compliant with Subaru Corporate to share my expereince. read more

Buyers beware.... My husband purchased my Subaru Outback 3 years ago we had it maintenance according to recommendations at the dealership. Engine completely stop working one night no warning light. Prognosis new engine needed on 3 year old car with 83k miles wanted 5k to repair not under warranty. Wait gets worse went above to Subaru company and the wouldn't help us either. Very disappointed that I sold my vehicle back for 5k less because of the motor to them and had to purchase a used car until I can afford a new one, not to mention that a rental wasn't offered during this time either for the inconvenience of their defective product. I will never buy a Subaru again since their own company won't even back their products. read more

We were looking for a Subaru Forester to replace our 2009 Highlander Hybrid. Subaru had received the highest ratings in CR and we were intrigued. Unfortunately, Subaru dealers are few and far between and often a little snobbish. Subaru Concord was not the closest but neither the farthest, but Malik Vandiver and the staff were the friendliest and most helpful of all the salespersons we met. They weren't pushy either. They let us take our time in looking and when they finally had a Forester that they thought met our criteria (color, styling, equipment, etc), Malik emailed us and asked if we would like to look at it but never pressured us. They only time we got pressured was when we said, "Yes". They didn't push any additional features or services, except an extended warranty which we didn't really want. Still, the experience was very pleasant and we are now proud owners of new "Red" Subaru Forester Touring. read more

They where very nice in beginning and they where like we are here to help you but they sell me car with scratches and they says they will fix those things and check everything in two days, detailing people did not do nothing to clean and buff my car, all 4 tires have different PSI when I went to discount tires this morning, tobacco smell still active, then they transfer my insurance on the new car but after waiting for days they never called me and finally I contacted them and they says we did not fix your car because t was raining??????? And I said so if is going to rain for next 10 or 15 days I will still have to drive my van and pay insurance for Subaru it is not going to be fixed. Very UNPROFESIONAL . I would not recommend to anybody. Earl is the guy to whom you CAN'T trust at all, I have a KBB from Dealer in Mooresville that says 13005 for my car he offer me 9500 when I said I have this numbers he was like confused and went back then offer me 11500 and I said I will be nice if you are going to be nice and wont go to any other dealer if you treat me right. Internet sales person quoted a great Out-The-Door price (via email), but when we agreed to purchase, they suddenly added several hundred dollars back on to the price. Talking with Manager Joe Powers revealed that it was a "business decision" not to honor the price ($500 difference) because he could "easily sell the car" for more. The dealership admitted their mistake when quoting the OTD price, but was not willing to correct. They were also disparaging another dealership who was competing for our purchase (Tindol Subaru, who seems to have an excellent reputation by all accounts). Overall, it was a disappointing/ time wasting experience with Subaru Concord. Maybe this was unusual, but be warned. Get everything in writing. read more

From my perspective, I would never go back to this place again. Two months and only 950 miles into the purchase of a used vehicle, I have had brake issues and a sensor go bad ($260 quote to replace a $35 part). This is the 5th used vehicle my wife and I have purchased in a 10 year period so I understand the As-Is policy. But I've also dealt with dealerships that wanted to keep their customers happy and this place is not on that list. Also, their finance guy misspelled my name on the initial credit report request so now I'm getting mail from our finance company with the wrong name but my social security number. I even received something from Equifax with the wrong name and my SS#. I'm wondering what issues I'll have in the future. We even walked out of the buying process because we were told that the financing was the way we wanted but when it came time to signing the papers, it was more than we told them we wanted to pay. They just made me feel like I should have waited and taken my business to another dealer. Their sales manager did what it took to make the sale but beyond that, they didn't do what it took to make me ever come back. Unless they just have THE CAR that you've been looking for and you can't find it anywhere else, avoid this place. read more

I'm Highly dissatisfied with this location the few times I've visited over the last 6 years. This place is highly unprofessional, and clearly lacks sound management practices. This recent experience solidifies my opinion that this location is not worth the time....especially if you're willing to drive a distance. I live roughly 30 min away. After numerous very specific exchanges with their internet sales team, I was lead to believe that everything was good to go on the specified vehicle of interest and all I needed to do was show up, like it, and sign the papers. It was made clear that it was the only one there I was interested in. To start my visit off, I arrived to their own staff members having a yelling match at the front door in front of customers. Then after test driving, and filling out information I was told the vehicle I came for was a cash only vehicle even though the internet sales guy (ADAM) said they ran the finance numbers and everything looks go to go. I made it clear that I did not want to make the trip unless I knew the financing was all a go. 2 hours later the sales manager informed me that Adam had stated that I was open to other vehicles and they were trying to find the right one for me. I had told Adam several times that it was the only vehicle I was interested in on their lot because it was the only one that fit what I was looking. Do not trust a word that their online/internet sales people say. They will lie and do what they have to just to make sure you visit. I give it two stars because the sales floor rep was nice and tried to help but I knew more about the vehicle then he did. You cannot go wrong with a Subaru but you can go wrong with trying to buy one from these guys. It's worth an extra drive to visit the South Boulevard location in Charlotte. read more

Actually bought a 2010 Legacy from the dealership. Sales Rep was OK, his "manager" was a throw back to the "gold chain" "pinky ring" USED CAR dealers my Dad dealt with back in the 80's. Long story short, the manager "hollared" at me in the foyer to split the margin with him...professional???? Liked the car, was 4 hours in, and thought that was what it was worth. Here's the kicker, get home look it up on-line, and I paid $3 more than the "special" price they just lowered that morning. Why all the DRAMA!!! I walked onto the lot a few months ago looking for a used outback. The salesman was good, I was enjoying the experience, we went inside to talk price. After talking for a bit we settled on a price, I told him I would think it over, and left. I got online and the price "they couldn't go any lower on" was significantly higher than the asking price online. Needless to say I was frustrated. I walked away and didn't think anything else of them. Until a month or two later I saw my credit score had been dinged for a hard pull on my credit. The salesman had explicitly told me he was doing a soft pull and would not do a hard pull. Shame on you. Good day. read more

Purchased a used Subaru and worked with Mike Tranum, salesman, on 4/24/2020. He was respectful, courteous and I felt that he was honest with me the entire time. Everything was so smooth and even with social distancing I felt welcomed and valued. If you are in the market for a vehicle, I would highly recommend working with Mike. As a revision to my original favorable review, the Finance Manager Brandon Smith sent me a letter and documents more than a week after the purchase stating that there was an additional credit document that needed to be signed before my loan could be approved. The documents he sent changed the values of the vehicle, taxes, etc. and the county in which I live and didn't match the purchase documents. On the same day, I received a statement from Subaru Finance welcoming me, showing the loan value and payment that matched the original purchase. I have reported the dealership to Subaru Finance for trying to get me to sign falsified documents. Buyer beware! read more

My husband and I drove by the Sub dealer and saw a cute lil bug with the top down sitting out front, so we stopped. We were promptly greeted by Jennifer yet that "salesman trying to hassle you and sell you something" demeanor was not there - which was appreciated! Jennifer was friendly and fun, we cracked up several times, she's definitely got that sister presence about her. While she's fairly young and possibly new to "selling" cars she was very insightful and willing to help and learn new things with us - she was a pleasant lady to work with. While I was in the market to purchase a car that day I wanted to go to other dealerships to see what they had to offer, when advising Jennifer of that she was very understanding and not at all pushy (again very un-salesman like-LOVED IT)! Needless to say the general manager Jeff Ross then came out and greeted us, he too was very nice and made our quick stop at the dealership a wonderful experience. So we left and went over to the Honda dealership - they had about 50 guys standing around doing nothing, yet they were to "busy" to even give us a wave hello. Finally someone did show up and it was nothing but "I don't know's" and pushing cars on us that we didn't even find interesting - we left quickly. Then of course we went to the big boy of Hendricks (where I purchased a previous vehicle in Atlanta) - the CRAP they tried to pawn off on us was HORRIBLE!!! I had high hopes for Hendricks since I had purchased my Atlanta car, my husband purchased a brand new car from them ... NEVER returning. So we call Jennifer back and start the ball rolling - less than 2 hours later I was driving a wonderful car! Yes it was used, but it was low in miles & a fantastic price! When visiting other dealers and informing them what I had found at Subaru they flat out said "you didn't buy it??" - if that's not a sign I don't know what is! Jennifer was a breath of fresh air when it came to the nightmare of buying a car.
