This review is long overdue. I reached out to Subi West back in March and set up an appointment for the next morning with Andy. I arrived at 8am and Andy was already there and ready to get started. I was so impressed by the service Andy provided as he broke down the pricing for the services I requested. I had just purchased an used Outback so I wanted the transmission fluid and front/rear differential fluid drained and filled along with the PCV valve replaced. I really appreciated Andy suggesting inspecting the PCV valve to start. After speaking with Andy, I ended up getting an oil change and a full car diagnostic for good measure. I flew back from a trip into Sacramento and my engine light and a few others were flashing. I took my Subaru to a mechanic in woodland and had him access the problem. He said it was most likely the transmission. He reset the computer but the light came back on. I contacted Subi West , they sent a tow truck in the late afternoon evening and had the problem fixed by noon the next day! They were very kind and helpful, got the job done. Had a loose shifter on my 06 WRX STI, out of the few mechanics in the area, Jaime was one of the only ones that knew exactly what I was talking about when I said the shift linkage needed to be swapped out. He was also able to replace the transmission gasket that was also in need of replacement when I had this work done. Customer reports oil leak.... I knew it was about THAT time with 189K miles on the odometer. I was able to get a next day appointment at Subi west to fix one of my fog lights on my outback. They quickly figured out the problem (broken bracket) and were able to weld it back together for me, so I was in and out quickly, and the cost was very reasonable as well. Just want to shout out these guys who I will be using in the future and will update review then. I reached out after receiving an outrageous quote from a dealership for "fluid leaks" and a front end rebuild (control arms, bearings, bushes, tie rods etc). These guys were great - they put car on lift and showed me exactly what was leaking and why engine needed to be removed. They then quoted me for the work needed to rectify. They were articulate, approachable, transparent and affordable. read more

My Subaru Legacy broke down recently. We found subi west via yelp, and we felt comfortable that was a repair shop that specializes in Subarus. I got a quote from Jaime online and the next day we called to see if we can bring in the car, he told us to bring it in that day. Upon arrival, Jaime greeted us and took care of us. It took him less than an hour to check out the car, we even waited for the diagnostic in the waiting room which was very well kept. He told us that it was our water pump, and a few hoses needed to be replaced. We agreed to get serviced there, and took an uber home. Next thing you know, within a few HOURS I get a phone call that my car was done! SAME DAY. Jaime is a fast, efficient, and has great work ethic. I highly recommend coming here to get your car fixed. I believe based on yelp they don't just work on Subarus, they work on other cars as well. Brought my girlfriends 2015 Subaru Legacy here to get it checked out since it was leaking coolant. Jaime was very professional and knowledgeable about the issue with the car and found out it was a bad water pump. Several years ago I bought a pre-owned Subaru Outback and have slowly come to realize that the unique quirks that accompany this brand of car require someone with a specialized knowledge of how to work on Subarus. After a few frustrating experiences with non-Subaru mechanics, I decided to take my Outback to Subi West for several issues--one with the battery, the engine stalling after abrupt braking, and a routine replacement of the headlights. I was immediately struck by Subi West's friendly and personable staff and was able to get my car in within only 2 days. The shop owner/main mechanic, Jaime, is quite possibly the most friendly, professional, and honest person I've ever encountered in the automotive industry. He is detailed and thorough in all aspects of his work. Jaime clearly has extensive knowledge and experience working on Subarus (based only on my description of the braking issue he had an excellent idea about what was causing it, although he still did an exhaustive investigation into the problem before reporting back to me). He was extremely forthcoming about the cost of labor and repairs (which were very reasonable) for all work that needed to be done, and not only did he thoroughly explain the issue/repairs necessary in easy-to-understand terminology, but he also kept me frequently updated via phone calls about the progress and expected completion of the job. I left Subi West feeling extremely positive about the whole experience and am grateful to have found my new go-to mechanic for all my Subaru needs. At 92K miles our '14 Crosstrek had oil in the overflow tank!! Took it to a local dealership and was informed it was oil seals in the upper oil pan and was quoted $6500 (assuming no other issues arose)!! Before we proceeded with the work, looked to get a second opinion. SubiWest was actually the first place I called, received some advice over the phone from Jaime which I was not really expecting. Decided to take the work to SubiWest instead. Not only did we save quite a bit, we got a service we never would have received at the dealership.
