Customer service was very poor. I stood waiting for help for more than 5 minutes without a "hello" or "what can I get you?", etc. I'm sure the food is fine but I never got the chance to try it. After being ignored for five minutes, I left. For the record, I was the only person at the counter. It was not busy at all at Subs and Spuds and not much at all was going on. I don't understand how places like this stay in business. Back in my early twenties when I worked in the CC Town Center, I stopped in here a few times but was never really blown away. I have since learned the changed owners a few years back, I bet that's why its so darn delicious now. After an appointment in the CC Town Center my fiance suggested lunch here. I ordered a turkey and provolone on white with pasta salad. Sure, its just your typical sub sandwich- but the ingredients were premium and fresh. Soft bread, moist thinly sliced turkey and paper thin cheese (just like I like it!) I gobbled down the sandwich in a matter of minutes. Next we had a friendly chat with the new owner who was so nice and thanked us for coming in. The counter staff even came outside to make sure everything was good. I tried their stuffed potatoes, breakfast, and their sandwiches and here are my thoughts.. Stuffed potatoes - it's good, but it's simple. You pay $4-$6 for a potato of your choice. The potato sizes are Medium sized, but they're yummy. I just think that if anyone really wanted to, they could make the same thing as home if they're willing to put up with the hassle. But then again, theyre the only place around the area that does stuffed potatoes Sandwiches - The taste it mediocre at its best. For what you pay, I wouldn't say these are worth it, but then again, the foot longs are more worth it than the potatoes. Breakfast - All the items in breakfast are also simple, but I enjoy going here for their breakfast wrap. I first came here about 4 years ago, when the management had just changed. My friend and I saw it while passing, and thought we'd give it a try. When we first walked in, we were warmly greeted by Brian (the current manager), his aunt and his mom. Right away, they made us feel like we walked into our grandmother's kitchen. It was a warm fuzzy feeling, and we knew the food had to be good. They were very patient and excited about explaining the menu options, and were more than willing to make changes to our liking. The place was clean, nice and cool (which is a plus during the summer), and the tables adequately spaced. It does take a few minutes for the food to get ready, only because they do everything from scratch! Nothing pre-made and assembled on the fly like Subway *cough cough*. They bring out the food to you, and you can smell the deliciousness from far away. I started with the Cuban sandwich. My first bite, I was in heaven! It was warm, yummy, crunchy where it needed to be, gooey and melted cheese, and the bread toasted. The meat was very well prepared and seasoned. My friend had the pesto chicken, and had an equally climactic experience. Since then, we had gone at least once a month, and even hired them to cater some events for our medical school. We have not been disappointed. The stuffed potatoes are to die for! The staff is so amazing sweet and nice, that they even remember our names and asked us about how things were going. They have such good memory, and are genuinely interested and loving people. There was a time, because of work, that I didn't go for almost 2 years. Then last year, I went back with my husband, and when I first caught glimpse of Brian and his aunt, they lit up and smiled, and said "Hey Jose! We missed you!". OMG they remembered me! They even came out to the front and gave hugs. I can say that I feel like family here, and the food matches the ambience of the place. Came in last week, place is very clean and the potatoes were pretty good. $8 is not terrible for a potato loaded with chicken, bacon, cheese and sour cream. What really bothered me was the fact that the gentleman behind the counter was carrying on a conversation (small space) with a patron regarding religion. It just isn't professional to carry on about religion or politics in a business that caters to all kinds of customers. Who wants to hear about a heavy topic like that while dining out? The worker should have chosen not to engage. I respect everyone's right to believe as they see fit, but I would never subject my customers to my personal beliefs. The patron and worker went on and on for about 15 minutes making our meal awkward. Had we come in and started loudly talking about a different set of beliefs, would that have been taken so kindly? I've been wanting to come to this place for a while because every time I come they are close because they don't stay open till late. I had their breakfast wrap(eggs, bacon, ham, potatoes, onions, bell peppers, cheese and salsa) because it was the guys recommendation. All ingredients were well cooked. I was very happy with my wrap. What I liked the most is that you are able to taste these ingredients in their natural state, very natural taste. No seasoning or overly salted. It was a large sandwich, but when I was finished I didn't feel overstuffed by any means. My second trip I had the turkey/bacon/avocado. Again the large size, and it came out even bigger than the other sandwich. It is on the higher end price wise, but honestly worth every penny. The staff is super friendly, and they bring your order to the table for you which is nice at a deli. My only complaint is their soda machine is Coca Cola, but no Sprite. I was saddened momentarily when I discovered this, but immediately snapped back upon tasting their sandwich. I have a frequent buyer's card, and can't wait to fill it up to receive whatever it is I get. I don't even care if it isn't a sandwich. So being the food slore i am i just had to check it out for myself and rate it. First of all its located in the canyon crest shopping center, which in it's self is a "cute little country styled" plaza. Plenty of parking and annoying speed bumps. I got inside and saw that they had an assortment of sandwiches, soups, salads, and baked potatoes. They also had a breakfast menu that looked hella good, but i still haven't tried enough of the regular menu to venture out into breakfast. For those of you who know ike's place, this place would have to be the second place i know that sells dirty chips, which is practically like miss vicki's. The service is nice and fast, they even delivered my sandwich to my table. The people that work their are the type of people that ask you about your day or how you're doing and also greet you on the way in and say bye to you on the way out. This place is a must. This review is long overdue. I came in last month and ordered a baked potato with broccoli and cheese, steak sandwich, and kids turkey sandwich. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the potato. It was big and full of broccoli cheese goodness. I will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area.
