When we first moved to Tennessee, our realtor told us that if you're looking for a classic lunch…read morespot in Columbia, you've got to try "Jumbo House". Was that a good recommendation? Let's first start by acknowledging what Jumbo House is NOT: It's fair to say, Jumbo House is not for everybody. This is not your $15 dollar gourmet burger eatery that you can order from an app. It is not the cleanest or shiniest establishment. But I would argue that it intentionally offers something different to its patrons. So let's talk about what Jumbo House is though: Jumbo House is a local mom and pop dive in the heart of Columbia that offers your typical fast food fare such as burgers, fries, nuggets, corndogs and more. It's priced reasonably when compared to the average drive-thru chains. Its aesthetics reminds its guests of a simpler time. It is the smell of deep-frier oils in the air and a greasy bag of fried food to share with friends and family. It's a beloved spot for some and a misunderstood spot by others. Ultimately, I say that our realtor was right and that everyone living in or passing through Columbia should experience it at least once. Those who know what they are signing up for when they visit Jumbo House are likely in for a good time. So, go grab yourself a Johnny Burger, hot fries and a cold drink and become a true Colombian.

It took 42 minutes to not get our food…read more i don't know what is worse, the service or the Disgusting, rude cashier. Lightbulbs out, mangled old nasty menus, floors filthy, bathroom was a murder scene, the restaurant smelled like a dump, the signage lights were all out. Lost our order after waiting for 30 mins . when we inquired about our order the cashier was so rude. Got our money back and left. 0/10 would not recommend . someone needs to report them to the health department

I was just visiting in this town for a couple of days. I was leaving Planet Fitness and I looked up…read morein the parking lot and there was a Krystal and a Burger Bros' within 400 ft of each other. So I decided after my workout to put some really fattening high calorie greasy food in my body. I am literally doing a side by side taste test. So this will be the same info on Krystals. The Krystal's cheeseburgers and Fry took about 5 minutes to come out in the Drive-Thru. I didn't go inside because I was on my way home. I ordered two cheeseburgers and a fry. I walked over to Burger Bros and ordered their specialty cheeseburger with onion rings. Now if you know anything about me I love freshly battered onion rings never Frozen! They said they have hand beer battered onion rings! I also have two different choices for packets of ketchup. Krystal's uses Heinz and Burger Bros uses some generic name called 'Red Gold Ketchup'and in small print, 'with a cause.' if we start with Krystal's ketchup tomato flavor good stuff. Burger Bros ketchup was overly smooth and look like it was supposed to be ketchup but didn't taste like ketchup. Bummer. Crystal's burgers were how you say chicken or the egg? Who came first Krystals or White Castles? I was born and raised in Detroit and White Castle burgers are the thing to have after a club night. I think Krystals bread on their burger is trying to hard to be special. I like the fact that they leave some skin on their French fries. But it didn't help the flavor much. Burger Bros regular cheeseburger comes with some special sauce, tomato and lettuce. I didn't want to add a subtract anything so I got it just the way they want to give it to me. Even though Burger Bros took longer to cook I wasted my time. The highlight was talking to the young man behind the counter it was very helpful and pleasant. He said he was the son of the owner. More power to people of color owning businesses. But I digress, I enjoyed the onion rings with Krystal's Heinz ketchup. Good thing I had some leftover Texas Roadhouse dipping sauce from the night before. Everything tastes good with that stuff! I went inside Burger Bros because they had no drive-thru nobody was there very small seating area. Oh yeah remember this is all around 8:00 p.m. tonight. Yeah I know I just worked out for nothing. So same review on Burger Bros . The only thing that was harmed in the making of this review was my colon.

The burger got messy, but that's a bonus in my book. The onion rings were cooked perfectly & the strawberry shake was yummy. Can't say that I'd change much about this place. We were an hour + after the lunch hour rush, so the wait for our food was fairly short. We did not try the Cali or Bros fries, maybe next time. We'll be back!

This review gets a four out of respect for Dolly and providing a promising Truck/Travel stop…read moreexperience. We aren't quite there yet. The concept looks solid.plenty of truck parking. A great looking building. Then it sort of flops when you try the buffet. I went on a Saturday around 6pm. The fried catfish and barbecue chicken were drier than Gandhi's flip flops. The mac & cheese noodle was good but they use a bad cheese product. The tossed spaghetti and meat sauce wasn't great. The bread pudding was stuck to the pan like spackle. Looking forward to grabbing a shower and a beer upstairs later. I hope they figure out the buffet before the Gem of Tennessee comes in on June 24th. That's the rumor anyway. ...Oh almost forgot, they had a country music artist playing for diner. I thought that was cool. If more people hear about this, maybe the food might not be as dry? Anyway, Good luck Tennessean. We'll be out on tour so won't get to see Dolly. Edit: went back in today. The trucker showers are huge, just missing sink space and hooks to hang your bag. Towels were real nice. Tried round 2 at the buffet. Slightly better. The apple bread pudding was good today. Meatloaf was good again. They can't seem to put out good chicken. The BBQ glazed chicken was rock hard and almost dry. They had some chicken patties in gravy that also wasn't great. The people are nice here, but I don't think they've got the right people in the kitchen just yet.

Dolly's Travel Stops is a great place to stop for a bite to eat while traveling. It's smaller than…read moreI expected, but it offers a wide variety of souvenirs to browse. The famous cinnamon bread is available for purchase and is absolutely worth the wait. Whether you choose the all-you-can-eat country buffet or order from the menu, there are plenty of options to satisfy everyone. The brisket was cooked perfectly--tender, moist, and full of rich, smoky flavor. The selection of sides, available from both the buffet and the menu, offers something for every taste. The chicken, unfortunately, was a bit dry, although it still had decent flavor. To finish the meal, I tried the peach cobbler, which was absolutely delectable. It would have been even better served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The service was slow. It seemed like the waitress wasn't quick to serve or refill drinks. Waitressing isn't an easy job by all means, but there were many times when we wouldn't see our waitress for awhile. The atmosphere is inviting. There are murals and guitars all over. The guitars are beautifully decorated. Overall, Dolly's Travel Stops is a worthwhile stop for good comfort food, delicious baked goods, and unique souvenirs.
