If you're unlucky the wait can be like 30 minutes. Sometimes it's decently quick though. I like the spicy italian which comes with pepperoni and salami. It tastes yummy with the lettuce and tomato and chipotle mayo. I get the Italian herb and cheese bread. Good study snack lol read more

Subway has also cut rotisserie chicken off of their menu and they just now have a bunch of premade sandwiches with a bunch of crap on them that it is very hard to customize. I'm a new UCSD student still getting used to the campus. Today was my first time stopping by subway. I was EXTREMELY surprised by the rude attitude of some of the workers. When I politely asked why they are using shredded cheese when I ordered cheddar, the woman looked at me like I'm crazy? Like, why on earth would I want shredded cheese on my sandwich? Anyway. Whoever was working at 6:00pm on Monday October 7th and had a bun need to be evaluated, I asked for a spicy meatball sandwich then had to repeat myself 3 times, I understand that it was loud and I tried to raise my voice but still. Worst Subway Ever. $11 for a very small 6-inch tuna. I paid for double protein, there was barely more than a smear of tuna. They forgot two toppings. The tomatoes they use were not cored, and the slices I received were the unripe, un cored end pieces. PSA: THERE ARE NO FIVE DOLLAR FOOTLONGS (at least for this month of November) This being an on-campus Subway, you expect it to not be as nice as other locations. However, every time I've gone, I've never been disappointed. During lunch hours, the line gets ridiculously long, but they'll open up the other side, which people often don't know about. Anyway, so the times I've gone, there's this amazing worker there who perfects my sandwiches. I remember one time I went during a lunch rush and my sandwich started falling apart a little. Instead of just smushing everything together and resassembling, he just made me a brand new one. I didn't even have to repeat my order to him... he remembered my order AND all the toppings. I really appreciated that because I know that it often gets really stressful when there's 15+ people in line. Overall, I've never had a bad experience here, other than the unfortunate lack of 5$ footlongs. The prices have gone up and it's not really worth paying 7$ for a simple sandwich, especially one that used to only cost 5$. There are few places at UCSD's campus with food that I would consider quasi-edible and Subway usually doesn't come to mind. In fact, there is usually a strange odor coming from their restaurant area so I normally steer clear of it. However, seeing as though it is the most reasonably priced, and relatively healthiest option (until I got my hands on it) I decided that it would be my lunch stop of the day. I had a coupon for a free double meat upgrade and, as ridiculous as it sounds, I decided to order a Chicken Bacon Ranch foot long sandwich...with everything. This thing was huge, and even the employees seemed to enjoy a laugh at trying to figure out how they were going to wrap it and shoehorn it into the bag. That said, the sandwich was pretty good. It seemed to lack a bit of the ranch, but certainly didn't lack any of the fixings, and I struggled to finish it. While there are more dining choices on campus than ever, few provide very good value for the student budget, and even fewer are actually good for you. I probably negated any real health benefits with my colossal heart attack of a sandwich (I estimate it was at least 1200 calories) it definitely went a long way toward satisfying my hunger pangs. As the two ladies have mentioned, the manager at this Subway rocks. He makes sure the workers get those sandwiches done ASAP. One time I got there and there was this long ass line. I couldn't see the manager. Hmmm... 5 minutes later he comes out from the back, sees how long the line is, talks some smack to the employees, takes charge of the register, and the line shortens a little. He then had no more people to ring up because he had to wait for the sandwich makers to finish. He grumbled at them again, moved to the front of the sandwich assembly line, and told them to get their asses in gear. 2 minutes later, I had my sandwich and the line was down to nearly nothing. This Subway is about 3 stars in terms of food. I'm not sure why but every time I get my sandwich toasted, it is not as crispy as when I get sandwiches at other Subways. Even when toasted, the bread is still soft and can sometimes get soggy making the sandwich a little less appealing. The customer service at this location however is HORRIBLE. The last 2-3 times that I have been here, the staff has been extremely rude and disrespectful. I have never been met with a friendly face and they try to rush you out as soon as possible. After asking for 2-3 veggies they'll ask if you're done. I'll ask for another 1-2 veggies and they'll ask again. And again. The second time and third time I visited, I told them all the veggies I wanted from the beginning and afterwards they started packing it up before I got the chance to ask for spread with it. The staff is too busy about getting customers out of there as soon as possible to even bother with customer service. They even have signs all over telling people to give them 5 stars on their customer satisfaction survey which they definitely do not deserve, especially if they specifically have to ask for it. read more

This review is purely for the customer service and not the food(food was good btw). I was waiting in line and the employees were busy restocking the line. I have no issue with employees restocking the line and wiping it down before helping the next set of customers. However my issue was that there was no COMMUNICATION between the employees behind the line and the customers. They were literally just talking to themselves while wiping down the line and refilling which took a decent amount of time. The least they could do is acknowledge the customers and say something like "hey we will be with you in a moment, we are just restocking the line real quick". read more

After my last few visits to this Subway, I have to change my review to a 1-star. I never thought that it could be this bad, honestly. The last sandwich I had was completely ruined. I had to eat it with a knife and a fork - the bread was completely soggy (pretty much looked completely gone) as it was drenched in marinara sauce from the meatballs, and the sandwich was stuck to the wrapper in many parts. My sandwich before that fell apart as the person failed to wrap it properly, and rather than fixing it just shoved it into a bag. The workers are ridiculously rude lately (even worse than before). I have been ordering large number of lunches for my staff for three weeks from a variety of restaurants in the past few weeks due to training we have staff in. Most restaurants have met the basic needs of my order, but Subway at UCSD went above and beyond. The basic needs of my order were met. The entire order was on time, well priced, and made just as requested. But in several areas they went above and beyond. 1) I brought the order in at 9:00am asking for it to be ready for pick up at noon. They answered enthusiastically, no qualms for the short notice, and no concern for them to be fresh during the rush hour. 2) As I was placing the order Cesar pointed out that two of the sandwiches may get cold in transport and offered to either make them last, wait for me to change the order, or whatever I would like. Mind you he did all of this while his staff handled the steady stream of customers coming in. 3) Then to make it even better when we picked up the food not only was all of it nicely wrapped up and easy to transport, but also the individual boxes all had each staff members name on them so I could easily distribute the boxes. Talk about above and beyond expectations! 4) Now all of the above compliments are for this particular visit; however, I must also add that I eat here rather regularly and often get their salad. I am consistently impressed with their speed (far better than nearly every Subway I've ever been too) and their friendliness even when I slow up the line a little bit with my sale order. Cesar seems to always be there and is always accommodating to every patron. Two other guys have worked their a while also and are also super nice. All in all well deserved five stars. It's the healthiest option at the Price Center, which is the only reason I ever go back. The employees there seem to have a lot of trouble understanding you when you order. I'm not certain if it's too noisy in there or if it's some other issue, but ordering just requires too much effort, and their accuracy is pretty bad. I loathe pickles and 50% of the time "everything but pickles" isn't enough to ward off the cucumbers soaked in evil. I have to object QUICKLY when I see them go for them at the end of my sandwich assembly. Lines REALLY long, unless you go super early. Not worth it. Most of the time when I go to Price Center with Subway in mind, I see the line and end up elsewhere. read more

Located in the heart of UCSD, this place gets CRAZY crowded around lunch time, especially now that the $5 footlong subs are back! (I think for the rest of this month?) The good thing is that they know they're packed and they have (at least today) high energy staff that get through the line quick and fast. I was in and out of there in 5 minutes! The convenience is often offset by long lines. The healthiness is cancelled by how much dressing I like. Soup, sandwich, cookie, chips--I like it all. However, a nice lunch is often met with the chatter of many many many students. The three previous cons does not hold true on weekends when I'm feeling health-conscious and studying. Tip: UCSD AS booklets often have BOGO half off or similar deals. When I was a student and AS/SOLO was on the third floor, I'd go up two flights of stairs to grab a coupon and then use it. read more
